1261  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why is there something, rather than nothing? on: August 26, 2020, 07:18:43 AM
A very philosophical question that bypasses physics, maths and religions. I don't expect someone to answer it since there is no answer, but I would like to have a discussion about it.

Physicists study what exists. Although they (may) know what happened since the big bang. Some of them have studied of what may happen after trillions of years.

Before and after huh? It gets better BlackHatCoiner. Their calculations indicate that, time itself wasn't moving before "big bang"...

You say it "bypasses", but that's actually THE reason for religion and even the sciences. Ie: Where do we come from, and where do we go. And whats the logic behind it. Some call this "meta" (physics, etc).

It may happen that we may never get an answer in our lifetime, which is so convenient. You may or may not get an answer afterwards, without any way to tell back the living. But wait, did you not notice the part about time flow?

Time is elastic, so elastic its not even funny. It might escape the minds of many the importance of this. The cosmic time in the "blink of an eye".
And, apparently, such things also happen if you get too close to a blackhole. They say you get spaguettified to infinity... Nobody could actually try it and be able to send back the results. Nothing you send past the event horizon returns, kinda like death.

If there are parallel universes, nothing we say or think on this one necessarily applies elsewhere, but you cannot observe it, at least not in this state of existence. You could also say we come from infinite and go into infinite. Popping in and out of existence, like in quantum physics...

1263  Other / Off-topic / Re: streaming alternative on: August 23, 2020, 03:20:19 AM
I don't get why people call this 'Streaming'...

The streaming is when we send over internet the signal, it could be a game, it could be our webcam, or it could be anything else, As example we can see sites like twitch. There we will find tons of real streamers doing their thing. The sites you are sharing in this thread are site to watch movies. I don't think stream is the right way to call them.

It is streaming because you are not downloading the movie but watching it straight from that web site. Its exactly the same thing done by Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, Hulu and the others. Only the content would change. It IS video on demand.

More importantly, it usually uses the old server / client method, rather than the more bandwidth efficient (but less controllable) p2p.

Of course one could argue that downloading a movie you could also start watching it before it finishes and delete it as soon as you finish watching would be almost the same thing.

Streaming does not mean "live". Live content is usually streamed, but it can also be saved so people can download it later. For audio they sometimes call this a "podcast" due to a historical reason (the iPod).

In the end, Streaming means: You start watching/listening before the data "finishes" downloading. For some sources, this data might be endless. Yes, Digital Television is also form of streaming.
1264  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: August 23, 2020, 02:28:50 AM
Thanks for your feedback.

Unfortunately Braiins OS doesn't show "Best Share" in the Summary table of the web UI, it exists if you poll it via API command, but i doubt the source did at the time. So now I'm requesting this field to be added to the Summary table (the one you see in that screen capture), and hopefully someone in the future will share it when they find another block.
1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin maximalists are doing more harm to the crypto space than good ? on: August 23, 2020, 12:39:25 AM
Nonsense. Bitcoin is the only coin, and Satoshi they maker. Smiley

There is no such thing as "crypto space", there is Bitcoin, and there are altcoins. Bitcoin works, altcoins, no so much.

Maximalism? Sounds like someone just want to talk about altcoins, and there is a forum area for altcoins.

There is no problem to talk about Bitcoin which is the whole point of this place. You should be thankful you can discuss the altcoins in its respective area.

What harm are you even talking about? The altcoins have benefited from the open source nature of Bitcoin. Everyone is free to believe or not in them, but don't expect you can sneak them in the wrong area just because you like them.

And the people who do not believe in altcoins, should not be forced to listen about them either. That doesn't make them "Maximalists", there is just Bitcoin, and that is that.
1266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: key safety strategies? on: August 23, 2020, 12:05:18 AM
Never handle private keys only handle seed words written on paper with your own hands. No electronic devices near it ever. No pics, no copy, paste, no printing, no cameras, no scanners etc.

The seed words internally recreate the key, but they are NOT the same. You should never handle private keys directly.

The S17 support isn't ready, but i think the Pro has a good chance, as long as you haven't updated the firmware.
Key point: Don't upgrade.

1269  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Laurentia Pool - BAD risk for miners on: August 22, 2020, 08:59:01 PM
Has it found a block on the main BTC chain yet? I keep asking the dev's but they ignore me, I'd fucking love to run it, but its a big risk for me if I don't know that it will find a block or not.

Someone show me somewhere where its found a block, I'd like to see the miner status GUI showing a block found, the difficulty it found the block at and then the corresponding block info at the pool where it was found, preferably a reputable pool.

Be nice if there was more than one.

Here you go: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5036844.msg55047651#msg55047651

Hope this satisfies your request.

Don't look at the kernel date, look at the File System Version date.

I asked and was given a capture confirming a block found. I did ask for more details if possible, but in the meantime here you go:

1271  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the future of the internet? on: August 18, 2020, 03:19:28 AM
Anything that is not internet becomes redundant. TV replaced by video on demand, Telephone replaced by audio calls online, printed media, most forms of traditional media, things like malls or cinema. Why go shopping when you can shop online and have everything delivered? Your time would be better spent doing something else.

Internet is becoming universal. Those that live in "nice" countries may think that's already the case, but it isn't. The likes of Elon Musk with Starlink are building "the last mile" at a planetary level, and early tests are showing that the 20ms promise is indeed true.

With the IoT and access everywhere, i think eventually things like mobile links will gradually diminish. What if mesh wifi is everywhere would you bother with 5g? Also IPv4 should finally fade away.
1272  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you have $20k then where you want use it? on: August 17, 2020, 05:38:47 PM
In fact, it is an idea that will be discussed by many. what do you think about it Huh and which is your choice in below.

For crypto investment It is actually very risky to simply put your money in the hands of another stranger. So they can steal your capital at any time if they want. Also if you are not proficient in crypto you will not be able to makes profits.

Bank investment: you are more secure here and no one can move or steal your money. However, as far as I know the amount of your profit from the bank will be less.

Real Life Business: In real life you can do business like you can Open a Foods store orr Others.

You need to learn about how modern Banks work, specifically fractional bank reserve. There are lots of videos and documents about it online.

Therefore quite the opposite, if you move it into bitcoin, it will never be moved of stolen, provided you make a cold wallet (aka paper with 12 hand written words) and protect it properly. The bank might collapse tomorrow, without warning (there is rarely any warning, because once it appears its a rush to withdraw before they close).

So no, no "Crypto" investment, no Bank investment, and "Real life" investment can be both risky and slow. Of course diversify is always wise.

Move your savings into bitcoin before your bank or your fiat collapse, both have happened and may happen before you can do anything to react. No one can kill bitcoin, but it takes one politician to destroy your wealth or little gossip to destroy your bank(s).

Banks usually don't go bankrupt because they get aid from institutions that act like banks for banks, usually called "Central Bank" or "Federal Reserve". This makes in theory the banking system as strong as the whole country, but, it is not infinite. If only 10% suddenly decided to withdraw, the whole system breaks apart. This is why they rush to aid the banks while leaving the people on their own every-time a bubble bursts. The only cure for bubbles is Austrian economy, and Austrians don't want fractional reserve bank, or fiat money.

Again: bitcoin preserves wealth, banks do not.
1273  Other / Off-topic / Re: I want to buy a car on: August 17, 2020, 05:21:25 PM

Move off SUV gas guzzlers (aka ICE), Chinese electric FTW!

Best of all, you could use one of Trump's Covid money aids check to buy it (if it wasn't for his insane taxes).

Sure it only does like 50mph or so, but who cares!? It takes you from point a to point b, protects you from the rain, and its pure electric!

It is in the biggest boom for the elderly in certain parts of China, and there are several companies selling them. Apparently they don't even need the same full driver's license to drive it, since its more akin to a scooter or something.

Watch this great youtube reviewing one of them:

"I bought the cheapest new car in the world" for $930 on Alibaba

Shut up and take my money? Yes its sold from Alibaba for about $1k or like 0.1₿. If you live in a city, or maybe even if you just want to visit your neighbors in suburbia or get to the grocery, take kids to school, i don't see why not.

Well, i can see the average American hating to drive a small quiet car to do chores, rather than rumbling and shaking the neighborhood like a proud car owner must do. But the potential for these in less blessed countries is huge.

Whatever they end being called. Yes its pretty much a golf cart, who cares? It works.
1274  Other / Off-topic / Re: Got slightly overcharged for fish and I can't let it go... on: August 17, 2020, 04:51:07 PM
Ah yes, the oldest trick to mess with the weight. But if you learned how much he did pay for that fish, you wouldn't ever buy at a shop near home ever again. Why not get closer to the source, or, fish it yourself?

In my country, the price of one fish in the city is like 50~100 fishes near the shore. Getting angry for something this small when you are being ripped off for buying there in the first place is pointless. Of course he will tell you its to keep the shop running, fish needs to be refrigerated, etc. There is also transport, wages, taxes, blah, blah.

So cut the middle men and start fishing already, you may even enjoy it.
1275  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Restore Bitmain Orginal Firmware Using Sd-card on: August 17, 2020, 04:23:06 PM
The thing is you should avoid SDXC and SDHC. SDHC might or might not work, they don't say it this clearly, but that is the sole reason. Not all controllers are SDHC capable, and of course there are no SD beyond 4gb (2gb is the usual max).

This is probably a Xilinx or Bitmain thing, not really caring about what port/chip gets in there. Whatever cheaper choice you could put there was probably the answer, and what better way to get rid of your remaining surplus stock?

If you want to play it safe. stick to non sdxc and non sxhc cards; ie. Nothing above 2gb.

And, they didn't expect people using the sd card that often... But then again, they didn't expect their firmware to be entirely replaced.

PS: To avoid trademark issues with SanDisk, China calls microSD "TF".
1276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blackmail E-mails on: August 17, 2020, 03:08:00 PM
Ignore the email (it's bluffing) but change all passwords (do NOT re use passwords across sites).

The password looks correct because it was obtained by a dump probably sold in certain circles. I got the same email last year, it had a password that looked like something i might have used a decade ago. So at some point your data was stolen from someplace you used to have an account, they pick the password and the email from there use the same template, send it to all to see who gets scared to believe it and sends them money...

This is a tiny bit of a step up from spam, or the Nigerian prince scam. Its a shame so many people fall for it, proves the criminal that it is working. I wish the likes of you knew better and ignored that idiotic email; but alas the world is full of fools, and they exploit their fears.

There is this thing in psychology about fear making people not think properly and they are the perfect victims. You randomly threat everyone saying "i know your secret" with some data mined from each recipient and, of course, a % of people will give in.
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you lost money on Bitcoin you either bought in the red or you didn't hodl on: August 17, 2020, 02:55:27 PM
Just buy and forget, leave the trading to the risk takers. Not only your wealth will be preserved, but if you compare it to keeping it in fiat, you will no doubt feel that it "grew"  (more like fiat is losing value every day).

No such thing as a red. The only losing occurs if you sell, so don't.
1278  Other / Off-topic / Re: I tried Apps for Money Making!!! on: August 13, 2020, 06:26:23 PM
Hint: Money making apps don't make money. Most of them involve some sort of scheme, referrals, MLM marketing, microtasks or ad views among other things that will make you waste more of your valuable time. There are also the "human bots", ie. Watch video and earn; there is a client elsewhere paying someone to inflate their video views, likes and all that useless social media junk Facebook and others make millions with your data mined from.

And sure, most of them cease after a while. Min amount to withdraw?, almost there, oops the company is no more... Who is going to refund you back your time wasted? Nobody. And if they ask you money, its an "invest" scheme, forget seeing that money ever again.

Its best you find out something you can do with your talents and offer it in services; in short, freelance. Or get an old fashioned job. You could diversify investing by yourself in certain things like bitcoin but if you didn't build the capital before, its for the long run not the short profit. Trading is another matter, very high risk, but potential gains. You could practice and maybe not use leverage to begin; ie. never invest what you cannot afford to lose...
1279  Other / Off-topic / Re: Chinese products are junk on: August 13, 2020, 06:17:04 PM
I think most supplier and manufacturer are from China, even the famous or expensive brands like Nike, Apple, Canon, Adidas, etc because the items that are being used are cheaper in China. It is why most products nowadays are made from China, even their products are not durable enough they are still cheap.
the smallest capital and a large profit is the slogan for all companies that have factories in China...
the majority of the world's population is only concerned with price and not quality, and China offers cheap raw materials and low employee salaries to attract investors to go there, my advice is for important items such as cellphones and vehicles, don't buy Chinese products because they are at very risk of being damaged quickly.
If you are going to buy an electronic good then it is very rare to find a product which is not made form chinese and as you said every cellphone parts are made in China so no matter how much you are paying there will be a Chinese product present in it.But when it comes to Automobile they are still crap and most of their brands just copy the international car models.Even you can buy Rolls Royce copy for few thousands. Grin

They copy them because they make them there... When you say don't buy Chinese, most of the time, you ARE buying Chinese. And then they easily siphon out whatever technique, design, trade secret the plant there does and gets spread to the Chinese companies. Ie: you had a workforce working years for Ford, Chevrolet whatever, Trump got angry and made them pack and return. What do you think happens to that workforce? They already know a lot...

Globalization: The genie is out of the bottle. There is no going back to the 50ies anymore. No amount of protectionism can make America make things again, because if they do, they are too expensive, and are not as good as, say, Europeans. Except the rare exception like Tesla, but look at what talents Elon brought to that company and how he lowered costs (robots). See, the American wage is just too high, that's why Americans don't make things anymore; at least not in mass quantities like the Chinese and other Asians can.

When was the last time you checked where your product was made? Apple "Designed in LA" garbage writing to not admit they made it at suicide factory Foxconn?
1280  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just considering a proper definition for money/currency on: August 13, 2020, 04:17:47 PM
Which thing qualify for money? I can't able to see that symbol on my PC's browser.

You missed one thing, the stable value is more important than anything on the featured list.

Its just the typical fast forward double arrow, but pointing up.

Guess your best place for a definition, or starters for one, as always, is wikipedia:

Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts, such as taxes, in a particular country or socio-economic context. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange, a unit of account, a store of value and sometimes, a standard of deferred payment. Any item or verifiable record that fulfils these functions can be considered as money.

Now just because its money, doesn't mean its "good" money. This is where the keeping the value stuff comes in. Most of the money in circulation in the world, does not hold its value over time. Some lose it faster than others, but all of them lose, the inflation has been integrated into the economy, as per dogmas from the school of Chicago.

And then came Bitcoin...

"Stable" value is pointless when your only reference is money that is losing value anyway. The price of bitcoin may oscillate, but its a honest market price, and that is good. In the long run, not only its been quite stable, but it gains value (and of course the others lose on their own, as per design).
