How come Decred devs have chosen such an UNdemocratic mining algorithm for the POW part?

I know that blake is a near perfect cryptographic algo, but that is not my point!!

ASICs will come (fpga are heavily used already for this algo).

How long do you estimate it will take to develop ASICs for blake? It took years before they were developed for litecoin, and litecoin has been in the top 10 for years. It used to be the number two coin so its ASIC developers were guaranteed a good ROI. Decred has a lower market cap so ASIC developers aren't guaranteed a good ROI if they develop blake ASICs for it.

If I'm not mistaken, Blake implemented in Decred has modifications and is exclusive. An asic for blake will not mining DCR

I believe decred just used fourteen rounds of Blake, nothing really special, just more rounds than Blakecoin or whatever used it previously.

Also, I think technically there are already ASICs that mine Blake. Since X11 had Blake as one of its algorithms, and there are X11 ASICs available, that I believe are at least somewhat customizable because I believe these same ASICs can mine quark and qubit as well, it isn't that far out to think these existing ASICs could already be mining decred.

is ahmed bodi not the core dev here any longer? is this project dev less?

cool coin though, ahead of its time. Hope it can gather some interest and development updates that get the community excited enough to get involved.

No, original person who launched the coin, 8bitcoder, is still around. Also some contributions from nzsquirrell who launched unitus. And I think cryptapus has some commits as well.

Hi folk Smiley

I am all out of BBR, sold the remainder of what I had on recent little pump. I am currently the top mod on /r/Boolberry though. I messaged /u/boolberry who is second a couple of days ago to see if he wanted absolute control in anticipation, but he hasn't replied.

At the moment, if I remove /u/boolberry and myself, then shadowcoin guy Sebastian will be top on mod list. So, I just wanted to see if clintar or any other folks that have been around since beginning want control, or I should just let /u/boolberry or sebsebastian have it. clintar? dga? Space lobster? Shojayxt?
I don't want it. I don't even reddit...

I figured as much done i think I inherited it from you, but mentioned you as you were post above me.

Speaking of people around from beginning, is btc-mike back? I thought you abandoned ship long ago. You want it?

Is it possible to move these from polo to bittrex directly?

This needs some kind of payment ID but I don't see where that is meant to be put in the polo extraction form?

Can't do a payment id on withdrawal from polo. You could just do it, then file a support ticket with bittrex with your TX ID and hope for the best, but really you should withdraw to your personal wallet then send to bittrex.

It looks like there are get and split integrated address commands available by JSON RPC using the CLI wallet here:
https://github.com/monero-project/monero/blob/master/src/wallet/wallet_rpc_server.h

Can you just run an instance of monero-wallet-cli on the web server and make the RPC call using JavaScript?

Vert is dead, move on already.

It's still got almost triple the marketcap of wild beast shitcoin, and is about to have a release upgrading to segwit Bitcoin codebase, which will put it in a group of three or four coins with segwit in the next few months: Groestlcoin has activated, LTC implemented, VTC on testnet, Viacoin soon supposedly. Less dead than lots of other crap.

I know you guys have a slack, but any chance there is a Telegram community or a Telegram room with a slack bridge?

https://t.co/FPK2eO3HO7 is our telegram.

Slack bridge?  What a dope idea.  Will see if that's possible.

The way Monero does it is just bridge through IRC. I know decred already has slack/IRC bot, Monero also has telegram/IRC bot (and maybe one other one). That way slack and telegram can chat via IRC.

Huh, I have only default trust set with depth 4, but it does show up for me.
The "vanilla" setting for depth is 2, which is generally the recognized one.
You're on DT1 or DT2, you are in, you're on DT3 or DT4, not yet.

What minifrij was meaning to say is, the user is neither on DT depth 1 nor on DT dept 2, hence their feedbacks do not show up with "standard" settings.

Oic, I guess I must have messed with it at some point. Thanks for the info Smiley

1335  Economy / Reputation / Trust system abuse? on: January 30, 2017, 07:49:44 PM
I'm curious if people think this is a legitimate use of the trust system:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg17673698#msg17673698

To me it looks like CfB gives SN negative trust for basically no reason, basically saying, "you're acting like a scammer so I'll give you negative trust even though I'm not going to say how you're trying to scam anyone." I mean, SN calls CfB a scammer and says NXT and iota are scams, but is that a legitimate reason to give a negative trust rating?

sorry, what would be the last miner to Monero 1070 gtx? Huh Huh

You don't want to mine Monero with a 1070, imo. Look here and set it for a 1070 GPU:
http://whattomine.com/

Monero is waaaay down the list. Mine Decred or Library or Zcash and trade out to BTC then to Monero and you will accrue more than directly mining Monero.

Not booted off Bittrex yet, but still on the maybe list. Go make some trades if you want to see XMY stay on Bittrex  Smiley

trades disabled and myriadcoin removed from bittrex.

Well, that was quick. I guess everyone let's pester Poloniex to update their ticker finally and try to make sure it stays there, and show Cryptopia some love too.

Thinking about getting a Cryptosteel (anyone experience using it?).

When you backup your seed, there is only space for the first four letters per word. Is the below quoted text applicable to Monero as well?

Quote
you only need to assemble the first 4 letters of each word. Those 4 letters are unique and sufficient to recover the sentence and the entire bitcoin wallet. We did a frequency analysis and determined the minimum set of letters that are needed [is four]

You only need the first 3 letters of each word to restore the Monero seed, so there is more than enough space on a Cryptosteel.

I think for Monero using English you only need the first three letters, but for other languages I believe you may need the first four.
