Buy 4 get 1

Does this mean you end up with 5? Or out of the 4 you buy one is free?

Or is it simply buy 4 get 1  Grin

I might get this deal.

<buy4get1> code worked for me. 5 miners shipped for $759.60 ($151.92 each).

I guess I am drinking the kool-aid as well. Just placed another order with buy4get1 and thinking about adding another one.

1323  Economy / Computer hardware / [closed] 2 Gridseed 5chip miners (needs repair) on: March 25, 2014, 04:56:45 PM
Hi,

I have two Gridseed miners that need some (hopefully minor) repairs. They were running fine for a month and then I made the mistake of plugging them into a non-powered USB hub connected to a LightningASIC TP-link. Both of them immediately started to make a funny noise and I could smell burning plastic. One of them will still light up red and the other will not light up at all.

Miner 1

Miner 2

Post any offers to buy or to repair. Shipping from USA. Escrow is fine but buyer pays any fees.

Both miners worked fine on LTC only and dual LTC/BTC mining. I can include a LightningASIC controller for free if you want one.

Hey Jack, we need new firmware...!

i think u should ask the firmware guy, not Jack , he posted few pages back

Don't trust Sandor11's advice or you may burn up your miners. He said to use the controllers with a non-powered USB hub. Well, it fried two of my miners. Many thanks sandor11 and LightningASIC.

Good news everyone! Stable firmware for LightningAsic controllers is underway, it should be ready for public in the coming week and it will be possible to upgrade (from v1, v2, v2.1..) by uploading it to the upload page. The firmware .bin will be released for public, but it is compatible only with LightningAsic controllers. Upgrading from factory Tp-link 703N will not work and it might brick your Tp-link, so don't even try!

It has some awesome features:

  • Stripped, custom compiled OpenWrt (controller's OS) image optimized for size and speed
  • Stability is heavily emphasized and guaranteed! No more random reboots or crashes
  • Custom compiled cpuminer OC, frequency selectable up to 1200 MHz. We have tested it for 48 hours straight at 950 MHz (405 Kh/s) and without hardware errors! (see #1)
  • Advanced miner monitoring and management
  • Option to auto power cycle miners when one of the miners is stuck, this is done software wise and it has the same effect as unplugging, and plugging in the USB cable! (see #2)
  • Up to 10 miners per controller, replacing the 32MB RAM chip with 64MB will double that figure
  • Huh Shocked

note #1: depends on miner hardware
note #2: this will only work if the USB/hub is powered by the controller, you must not supply power to the USB hub.

BTC or dual mining is removed in the firmware for a multitude of reasons, BTC mining on GC3355 is unstable and wasteful.

If this doesn't want to make you pull out the LA controller out of the trash, I don't know what will...
For questions or feature requests, please PM me, not Jack.   Donations (1AMsjqzXQpRunxUmtn3xzQ5cMdhV7fmet2) are gladly accepted, and will be put towards improving the firmware even more.

Can you confirm that this will be better than the recent 2.0.7 version of wiibox? I have been getting better stability with the wiibox controllers than LightningASIC V1 controllers.

Also, none of my USB hubs work without external power. Will this somehow fix this?

I am sure that it will be faster than Wiibox. It uses cgminer, which is too heavy for those little controllers.
Not sure about your USB hub, but some may not work without external power. Personally I am using some cheap 6€ 10-port hub which does that and works perfectly fine.

Hi, I appreciate your work on improving the LightningASIC controller, but your advice just burned two of my miners. I tried out a non-powered USB hub as you suggested and fried two 5chip miners. I could smell the burning plastic. Now, one will light up red only and the other will not respond at all. I cannot get a controller or PC to register either miner.

I am posting this as a warning on trying non-powered hubs hooked to a LightningASIC controller. Do so at your own risk.

Edit: I should note these were two Gold Beta models with the white buttons. If anyone knows how to fix these, please let me know.

Hi Quick q: Is v2.0.2.zip still the recommended firmware to use?

Where can I download this?

Edit: you mean the wiibox or LightningASIC firmware? Wiibox is up to 2.0.7, but it changes your SHH password after 2.0.3.

Anything over 16 miners will get my cgminer to crash. Why so? It will just freeze and then crash. 16 miners work fine. Can anyone help please?

Cpuminer is the answer

I can't get cpuminer to see my miners for some reason. Just says not found.

And another question: is it possible to detach the fan from that LOUD psu? There is really no point of it and it creates so much noise. And how to connect miners to a outside psu?

Write out \\.\  before the com port, e.g. \\.\COM**, and do not use more than one Gridseed miner per instance of cpuminer.

This looks great. Anyone tried this with 40+ miners (off 4 USB hubs)?

The previous driver I linked is for the GridSeed 1-chip device, so far resold by DualMiner.

For support for the GridSeed 5-chip devices, if you are feeling crazy you can try this out (Scrypt-only currently):

https://github.com/nwoolls/bfgminer/commits/feature/gridseed-support

I give it the It Works For Me(tm) stamp of approval. Run it with -S gridseed:all and specify frequency with --set-device gridseed:clock=freq, e.g. 850 (default is 600).

For OS X users, these should be loaded automatically but in case they aren't:

Code:
sudo kextload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDC
sudo kextload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDCACMData

SHA2 support will be next followed by dual-algorithm support. If you have some of these and are feeling froggy, feedback is welcome.

Thanks, I will start working on a raspberry pi setup later this evening. Most of the setup guides I have read say 10 miners with a pi. Any tried a pi with say 40 miners?

I posted this in another thread and did not get a response. Are some of the control units being sent out with a virus? I bought this one from atari02. It seems to be hashing okay in the wiibox but does not always show up as hashing in scryptguild.

Original message:
I had root access with SSH and overclocked the controller. Then, I upgraded to 2.0.4 and I lost root access. The password no longer works. I upgraded to 2.0.5 and still get 'access denied'. Could the controller have been hacked somehow?

Hey, I had also a bad experience, ... but after using it with wiibox.net and setting all parameters and pool configuration over there it was fine ... I'm not sure but I guess that it does use some default configuration .. or maybe it has a trojan ... what ever I in the end just moved away from those controllers ...

ok, lol ... I got a f... problem ... somehow my controller is getting hijacked ...

... ... I haven't changed anything then upgrading to wiibox 2.0.2 ... that's it ...

user and psw is getting changed to ... a users miner ... called wwee.1, wwee.2 ...

... I already mentioned that on my controller .... that I received ... there was malicious code ...

that turned pool, user & worker .... to a thrid party in my absence ....

I haven't changed ... anything at the code, except upgrading with wiibox.net to 2.0.2 ...

Has someone a similar issue with a wiibox controller ?

my work around im not using that controller for the moment ...

Can someone post or PM me the password for control units purchased from seeds? Mine arrived updated to 2.0.2, but the root password was changed from 123456 to something else. I need root access to overclock, etc.

I need some help, I am going to smash this %$*(% wiibox controller I cannot get the damn thing to work. I can log into the page for it but it tells me No BTC equipment! and NO LTC equipment.

I have 5v power to the mini usb on it i have a powered hub connected to the large usb on it and I have a network cable connected to the back of my router on it. I have no idea why it has two network ports. and i do not know what the little button is for.
I and open a web page and see the crappy chinese webpage for the device and enter settings but it says No BTC equipment! and NO LTC equipment under each item. I have had the miner running scrypt fine directly under windows but I would like to take advantage of its dual mining abilities. This stupid piece of crap controller is starting to frustrate the shit out of me. Also what is the little jumper on it for.

Here is a pic of how it should be connected.

This thread has some translation pics that might help in deciphering wiibox.net https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=477709.msg5463728#msg5463728. Once you update to 2.0.3, you can just go the ip address and enter pool info there.

Write out the worker IDs as follows for better stability (only use the number of actual miners you have hooked up):

worker_1, worker_2, worker_3, worker_4, worker_5, worker_6, worker_7, worker_8, worker_9, worker_10

(do not use fake pool info)

Hello

I have gridseed with their generic controller. I can access the controller with browser however i can not get a seed to hash. I see some said to upgrade the wiibox firmware? Can someone point me in the right direction to get these to work? Thanks I am testing these so I can bring more in and distribute them.

1336  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LightningAsic usb miners based Gridseed GC3355 Tech Support Thread on: March 02, 2014, 01:09:00 PM
Any multipool that is preferred?

I tried Waffle and Middle which were "OK" and now HashCows, but even with my LA6M crappy performance (Somehow are unable to get hashes over 2MH/s total), i got only 0.00096357 BTC for 12 hours.. Should be around 0.024-0.030? Something is not right, still no idea what..

I'll try to up the hashes next week when i have the original USB hub and gridseed controller in.. Hope i get near 6MH/s total then..

(I do get near 4MH/s when plugging miners in one by one and let them settle in between. However, it reboots not long afterwards.. When it comes back, i get maybe 2MH/s max, and some won't start hashing..)

Could there be another reason besides the controller FW (RC1) and usb hub? Replace USB cables?

Andre

How many controllers are you using? And, are they LightningASIC versions or the generic Gridseed version? If Gridseed, did you upgrade to 2.0.2? These answers might help in figuring this out.
1337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: March 01, 2014, 06:24:53 PM
Just ordered some of these, http://www.ebay.com/itm/300959220193. I will provide an update when they come in to confirm if they fit.

They work just fine and look to be better quality than the wires I received from China.

Arrived very quickly. Fedex is about twice as fast as DHL from China. All miners arrived in good shape. Wiibox is not as bad as you might think. I like it better than the LightningASIC version.

Cept it does not seem to work and I am unable to see detailed stats. 监控中心 / Monitoring center says it all works - but nothing is reported at the pool. Sometimes powercycling does resolve the problem and they start to hash but sometimes they just go down. Not sure what is going here.

Yeah, scratch my earlier comment. I have it running but it is difficult to see what exactly is running. Google translate stopped working after I ungraded the firmware to 2.0.2 and I cannot figure out how to overclock. Any ideas on overclocking with wiibox for non-Chinese readers?

Got the package

10 X Gridseed Miner
1 X Controller (no computer required to use the miner)
3 x 12V 30A DC industrial power supply (1 spare for no downtime!! 2 to power 10 miners)
1 x 10 Port ORICO usb hub (high quality for stability)
12 x 2.5mm DC power cables (2 spare cables)
10 x usb mini data cables
1 x 1A usb charger with usb micro cable (to power the controller)
1 x network cable
4 x Country power adaptor (AU, EU, US) to plug in 2 power supplies, usb hub and controller
Is what I was supposed to receive.

I did not get a 3rd PSU and I did not get the country power adapters. The 2 PSUs I got are wired for ,what I guess is Australian outlet. Unable to test till I buy adapters, but otherwise looks like a clean and fast shipment.

The USA power adapters do not come with a ground connection (I think this is common for travel adapters). You may be better off cutting up local power plugs, that's what I did. I think the adapters will work fine but I prefer having a ground connection going to the PSUs.
