13521  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger nano s security question on: December 13, 2017, 05:06:16 PM
If someone steal your Ledger Nano S, they will need either:

a. The PIN to unlock the wallet.
or
b. The seed, so they can reset the device and restore the wallet with it.

If you have the seed, you don't really need the PIN, as you can: reset the wallet, restore it and setup a new PIN.

Or the 24 word seed is all they need and they can just create another PIN?
That's right.
13522  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [ANN] Bither - simple&secure Bitcoin wallet.(v1.7.7/3 released) on: December 13, 2017, 04:09:25 PM
One Bither-wallet(adress) add to two phones. So it is possible? How to do it?
Yes, you can.

In your first device (that already has the wallet):
- Open your wallet -> Open the 3 dot menu at the top right -> HD Account Seed QR Code

Now go to your second device, install Bither and do the following:
- Settings -> Advanced Options -> Import Private Key -> From HD Account Seed QR Code -> Scan the QR Code from the first device.
13523  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can i get Super Bitcoin (SBTC) on electrum [step by step] on: December 12, 2017, 08:21:23 PM
just privete key or seed?
if seed - that is problem. Electrum has 13 words seed al other use 12 words seed.
Electrum seed has only 12 words. Are you sure you did not write one more by mistake? Try to recheck your seed by going to "Wallet" -> "Seed".

THX alote. That is clever. But
1) If I move all BTC from old Electrum wallet to somewhere else
2) by using seed or private-key will open my public key in any SBTC wallet
3) will step 1 fluence on getting SBTC or not? The screenshot was done 12.12.17. At that time I used to have BTC on my electrum wallet... Is that enought?
If the fork already happened, it doesn't matter if you move your Bitcoins or not. The forked coins will stay there.

Why electrum as supporter on SBTC web page if u are singe cripto wallet. ?)
No idea. Probably to give them a fake legitimacy. Electrum will probably never support a differentt Bitcoin (especially these shitcoins).
13524  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Question regarding recovery. on: December 12, 2017, 05:48:40 PM
I read this that was only posted a few mins ago!

https://ledger.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005198445-Are-my-coins-stored-on-my-Ledger-

Seems to suggest that the PIN and the 24 word seed is needed. so now im unsure again :/
You are understanding it wrong.

Quote
But without these 24 words and without your PIN code, not anyone can access your wallet, even if your Ledger device gets stolen.
This means that if someone steal your Ledger device, they will need either:

a. the PIN code to access your already configured wallet.
or
b. the 24 words to reset and then restore the wallet.

I'm sure that you don't need the PIN because if you don't want to buy a new Ledger device, you can import your wallet in Electrum with the seed and without having to input any PIN.
13525  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Question regarding recovery. on: December 12, 2017, 05:15:46 PM
After recovering a 24 word seed to restore the device, will it ask for my original PIN again or will i need to add a new pin?
You will be able to setup a new pin. The older one is irrelevant.

So assuming that a thief who has heard of bitcoin, breaks into my home and steals my recovery words / seed, will they have access to my coins or do they still need to have the pin number as well?
They will be able to access your wallet immediately without any password or PIN.

Or assuming I were to die, and i wanted to leave any coins to loved ones, and lets say the device was lost but they have the recovery 24 word seed, would they will still need to know the PIN?
No. Only the seed is enough.

Basically when recovering with the original seed, is the original pin still required, or will the device accept a new PIN?
Only the seed is required to recover your wallet. You will be able to setup a new PIN.
13526  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Segwit addresses on Electrum on: December 12, 2017, 04:43:13 PM
Why is it that when trying to create a segwit address, Electrum is providing me a receiving address starting with bc1 and not 39 like my Trezor does? Reading the rest of this thread it looks like I have to create a segwit address somewhere else and then import it into Electrum?
Electrum only supports the creation of bech32 Segwit Addresses (the one starting with bc1) and Legacy Addresses (starting with a 1). For now, the bech32 addresses aren't supported in many places, which means that most services won't allow you to withdraw to this kind of address - which is why it's not recommended to use this kind of address until people start supporting them.

Read the previous posts to know how to create and import a Segwit wallet that generate addresses starting with a 3 (not 39) in Electrum;

And will that be view only? Thanks!
If you import with the seed, you will be able to spend the coins.
13527  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I have falsely transfered my BitcoinCash (BCH) to an Electrum Wallet :-( on: December 12, 2017, 04:21:50 PM
Don't worry. You can easily recover your coins.

Download Electron Cash[1] (Electrum fork for Bitcoin Cash) and open your BTC wallet (where you sent your BCH by mistake) with it. You should be able to see and spend your BCH.

[1] https://electroncash.org/

Edit: Ok. I just saw that your wallet has 2FA enabled. In this case, you will need to follow this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6wf50x/recovering_your_bitcoin_cash_from_a_trustedcoin/
13528  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can i get Super Bitcoin (SBTC) on electrum [step by step] on: December 12, 2017, 04:02:52 PM
You would need to import your private-keys in a software that supports SBTC. You can probably find them in the SBTC website.

Also, it's recommended that you move all your Bitcoins to a new wallet before importing it in a unknown and not reliable software. Otherwise, if the software is malicious, you could end up losing your original Bitcoins and the fork coins.

IMO, grabbing a few shitcoins is not worth the risk of installing a wallet from an unknown dev. Never be too greedy. Otherwise, you will end up losing your coins in the process of claiming one of the 50 fork shitcoins that should be released in the future.
13529  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What does reset do to Ledger Nano S? on: December 12, 2017, 01:38:34 PM
If i reset it, does it give totally new address space, which is not related to old addresses at all?
If you reset and create a new wallet, yes.

Can average joe, exchange, tax man, anybody figure out that those old and new addresses are from same Ledger Nano S?
No. They can't even know that those addresses belong to a Ledger Nano S wallet.
13530  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What coins are supported by Ledger Nano S? on: December 12, 2017, 01:28:17 AM

13531  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Import wallet.dat from 2011 on: December 11, 2017, 05:34:57 PM
Try to dump your private keys by following these steps:

1. Start Bitcoin Core
2. Stop Bitcoin Core
3. Datadir should be created, open the datadir folder (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory)
4. Replace the existing wallet.dat (backup it if you already had Bitcoin Core installed) with your old wallet
5. Start Bitcoin Core
6. If you want to export your keys, open the debug console and type dumpwallet <filename>

With your private keys, download the Electrum wallet[1] and when prompted to create your wallet, choose: "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys" -> Paste your list of private keys and click Next.

Then, just see if you can see your balance and spend your coins.

13532  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Accidentally sent BTC to USDT address on: December 11, 2017, 04:23:13 PM
I have Accidentally sent my BCH from my Binance to my poloniex USDT wallet address
I have already created a ticket to Poloniex suppot (month ago), byt has not been answered yet ?

Is there a way i can get back my coins?
No. Only the service (in this case Poloniex) has access to the address private-key, and consequently, is the only one that can recover your BCH. Some exchanges will help you if you do this kind of mistake, others will charge you a fee and some won't even bother to help you. I'm not sure what is Poloniex policy in this about this subject, so you will need to wait for them to answer your ticket and pray for a solution.
13533  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ConfirmTX.com's Free bitcoin transaction acceleration & New Block Notifications on: December 11, 2017, 03:41:07 PM
Tried using this and paid, so far it has been 8 hour since my payment and no confirmations yet. I do hope it is worth it that I spent extra just to accelerate a transaction. Man, the network is so congested right now, I guess this is brought about the sudden increase in price of bitcoins and as a result a lot of people wanted to move their bitcoins around.

I have a question though, the site said that if the transaction does not confirm in 72 hours you will give a free accelerate on the next one. How do you log with ones to give a free acceleration to, there if there is no login?

Edit: Seems like the owner of this site has not been online for about 7-8 days already (last seen December 3, 2017). So I am guessing this is just an elaborate scam, oh well, shame on you for running with my $4 if this was indeed a scam.

These are the two posts above yours:
ConfirmTX is a scam.

And at the same page:
May try this out tomorrow  Smiley

Do not ! Its A SCAM .

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you want to throw money in stuff like this without doing any basic research on what you are doing, then it's better if you just donate your coins to me.
13534  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction confirmation notifier on: December 11, 2017, 11:08:12 AM
If you want to be notified everyone a transaction coming from/to your address or xpub gets confirmed,  you could use Blockonomics. They only notify you when the transaction gets confirmed.

13535  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: how to reuse a address in electrum 3.0.2 mac version? on: December 11, 2017, 01:20:00 AM
All your addresses can be reused as many times as you want and when you want. You don't need to "select/choose them" before receiving a transaction and they don't need to be in the "Receive" tab.

You can also check all your addresses by going to the Addresses tab (View -> Addresses).
13536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google 2FA help on: December 11, 2017, 01:16:34 AM
Good information. Any way to import accounts from Google Authenticaor into this app?
Not that I know. But you can always manually disable the 2FA in each of your accounts and enable it again in andOTP.

I have the bittrex secret key written down.  Is that the code you are speaking of?
Yes.
13537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best BTC fee to pay (I have as long as it takes) on: December 11, 2017, 12:45:09 AM
Does anyone have any information or resources on a chat with time scale in relation to BTC fee? i.e. 0.00019 would take a week, 0.0003 would take 2 weeks etc. I know this would be quite hard to comeby... but worth a shot.
Don't discuss fees in BTC. Discuss them in satoshis/byte.

You can't expect the confirmation time with a specific fee to be the same for a transaction with 4 inputs/5 outputs and one with only 1 input/2 outputs. What will determines the fee is the size of the transaction and not the amount sent. So basically, more inputs and outputs = higher size = more fees.

Right now, something like 160 sat/byte should give your transaction a fairly fast confirmation time without you having to pay $20 in fees. Or if you are not in a hurry, you can lower even more that amount (~110 sat/byte). Based in this website: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/
13538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: im done with bitcoin on: December 11, 2017, 12:38:06 AM
OK so if i sent less then 400 satochi it wont get confirmed it will be stuck for days
It won't. Read what I said above. I got a payment confirmed in a few hours with a 160 sat/byte fee.

Don't bindly use the highest fee available in your wallet.
13539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: im done with bitcoin on: December 10, 2017, 11:08:53 PM
If you paid a fee of $30 then:

a. You are doing something wrong.
b. Your wallet is doing something wrong.

Yesterday I received a payment with a fee of 160 sat/byte (~$5 for a normal transaction with 1 input and 2 outputs) and it got confirmed in a few hours.

And if you really have done this, why have you asked someone to accelerate a transaction that costed $1.58 some time ago, and now are sending a transaction with a $30 fee?

13540  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google 2FA help on: December 10, 2017, 09:02:10 PM
Hi there.  What do you mean a 2fa that allows you to backup your codes?  So you telling me if you get a new phone, its harder to get the 2fa with google authenticator as oppose to andOTP?
It's exactly how it sounds like. If you set up a 2FA in your Google Authenticator and lose your phone, you can't just install it in a new device and restore your codes. You would need to manually write down or save the QR you used to set up your 2FA to be able to manually import them one by one in your app. If you forget to write them down, your accounts are gone and it's going to be a pain in the ass to restore your accounts.

With andOTP, you can just click a button to create a encrypted file that contains all your 2FA codes. If you lose your phone, you can get a new one, install andOTP, move this file to your new device and import all your 2FA at once like nothing had happened.

Also when i put in 2FA, did i get to choose if i pick google authenticator or not?  Because i dont recall it giving me an option?
andOTP uses the same protocol as Google Authenticator. If a website gives you the option to enable 2FA with Google Authenticator, just follow the same procedure in andOTP and the result will be the same.
