13701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Ledger Nano S - Multiple DASH-Adresses? on: December 23, 2017, 12:10:10 AM
So what will happen when I send to the first address again instead of using the new one?
You will still receive your coins. All your old addresses can be reused as many times as you want and when you want.
13702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is time lock in Bitcoin tx? on: December 22, 2017, 04:15:45 PM
This means that the owner of the address can only spend his coins after the block 500103. People tend to do that to "prohibit" themselves from spending their coins until a certain date.

The first transaction is a regular one, so there is no time lock.

Quote
A Timelock is a type of smart contract primitive that restricts the spending of some bitcoins until a specified future time or block height. Timelocks feature prominently in many Bitcoin smart contracts, including payment channels and hashed timelock contracts. It can also be used to lock-up bitcoins held as an investment for a period of months or years. Time lock is also used to make fee sniping less profitable.

13703  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ETH/BTC - does the rate of Bitcoin influence my profit? on: December 22, 2017, 03:44:19 PM
It all depends on ETH/BTC ticker.

The 1 ETH = x BTC rate is always changing because of the Bitcoin Price. Let's imagine that the market decides that 1 ETH is worth $650 and this same amount is worth 0.05BTC. If the Bitcoin price doubles and the ETH price remains the same (in dollars), it's obvious that the rate will change to 1 ETH = 0.025BTC (now worth $650).

Ethereum is Ethereum and Bitcoin is Bitcoin. The BTC price will always influence the price of other altcoins, but the Ethereum price is not directly pegged to the BTC price.

13705  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitlaunch.io. Launch servers with your favourite crypto currency on: December 22, 2017, 12:56:07 AM
That's nice. I wanted to try Vultr some time ago but they required a credit card (or was Paypal?) before accepting Bitcoin payments.

How do you create those servers? Do you have any kind of access to them, or are they generated with some kind of API or something like that?
13706  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Fork Coins on: December 21, 2017, 11:45:34 PM
Hi there.  Well if you kept your btc in electrum, wouldn't you be getting those forked coins from electrum like those who did it with bitcoin cash and gold?
It has nothing to do with Electrum. If you own your private keys (which in this case you do), you can import them in any software and do whatever you want with your coins (and fork coins).

So each of these coins that just forked were around $400 per coin? so basically if you owned 1 bitcoin, you would have 1600 dollars roughly from the bitcoin fork?
Google it or check the CoinMarketCap page of the coin.

I had thought these new forks were where the coin probably would be say 50 dollars a piece only.
The market is the one deciding how much those coins will be worth. No one can truly know.
13707  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to claim BItcoin diamond and BTG?anyone help? on: December 21, 2017, 06:49:55 PM
so ?? now this is official http://btcdm.org/#/  to claim Huh?  i dont know
NO. This webstie is a scam!

Btw, I just checked the official Bitcoin Diamond website[1] and there is this big warning covering the whole screen. Which proves my point.

The only REAL wallets which currently supports BCD can be find in their website.

13708  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: lost 2fa, lost seed. .04 btc in wallet stuck on: December 21, 2017, 05:17:39 PM
Without the seed or 2FA? Unfortunally no.

You either need the 2FA code to make TrustedCoin sign your transaction or the backup seed to get your 2-of-3 private key. Without any of them, your coins are gone Undecided
13709  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Question ...is it safe to give Bittrex my driver license number?? on: December 21, 2017, 03:46:42 PM
If you are willing to have an account in most of the major cryptocurrencies exchange, you will probably need to provide them some of your personal informations. That's how this works for most of those companies (search about KYC).

Bittrex is one of the major exchanges, so it's not that bad.

You will find them in your BCH main account, if you sent your BCH to a Bitcoin Legacy address.

13711  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: EtherDelta: Might Have Been Compromised on: December 21, 2017, 01:44:44 AM
I believe that Etherdelta itself is safe. It looks like only the DNS was compromised and because of that, the domain was hijacked and it's pointing to a phishing site.

Quote
WARNING: If you are holding funds on EtherDelta.  Do NOT open the site. The EtherDelta site is compromised and opening it may result in lost funds. If you are using BLUE beta, MetaMask, or a Ledger you should be safe. But we still do not recommend visiting ED until it's resolved.

Because the official domain is pointing to a phishing site, after the DNS credentials were compromised. (We think)

It's the DNS servers, not the SC keys. If the SC keys get compromised folks will have a much bigger problem.

Despite the unfortunate event, we are letting you know that our service will be resumed today and your money will be paid back!

We are happy to announce we have been able to reserve the funds required to restore balances from a group of international investors. Old balances will therefore be restored by January 31, 2018. We need this interim period to ensure all legal paperwork is processed correctly, so please be patient while we do this.

13714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Do I have my crypto yes or no? on: December 20, 2017, 06:01:07 PM
Pls share your PUBLIC btc address of your Electrum wallet.
"Electrum-XVG"
XVG = Verge, and not Bitcoin.

Where do I find this public address?
That's the address you shared to receive your coins. Search it in a Verge block explorer - like this one[1] - and you will be able to see if there is any balance on it.

13715  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Please advise. Moving from Armory to trezor (BTC,BCH and BTG) on: December 20, 2017, 05:00:52 PM
You will probably need to export your private-keys into a different wallet to spend the other coins, as Armory only supports the original Bitcoin. If you don't to risk your Bitcoins while claiming the other fork coins, empty your wallet by sending your Bitcoins to a new wallet before importing your old keys into a not so reliable wallet.

Here are the methods I used to claim my coins after each fork:

To claim the BCH:
- Export your private keys and import them in a supported wallet such as Electron Cash (recommended);

To claim the BTG (you will need an android device):
Quote
First, confirm your BTG balance on https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin%20gold/address/<YOUR-ADDRESS-HERE>
go to https://www.bitaddress.org "Wallet Details"
put your BTC private key and press View Details (careful: make sure you are on the right site! I downloaded it from their github and ran it locally to be safe)
Install Coinomi (only available for Android)
Create a new wallet and add BTG, then choose Sweep Wallet
Swipe the QR Code "Private Key WIF 51 characters base58, starts with a '5'
DONE!!!

Always try first with a low value address, dont trust anyone when playing with private keys

13716  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [ANN] Bither - simple&secure Bitcoin wallet.(v1.7.7/3 released) on: December 20, 2017, 04:16:43 PM
[Bither&bitpie] new versions help users to easily get SBTC (Super Bitcoin).

For Bither wallet users :
Bither Android/iOS v1.7.8 will help users to easily split SBTC to their bitpie wallet.

For bitpie wallet users :
bitpie v2.4.1 now fully supports SBTC.

http://docs.bitpie.com/en/latest/btcsbtc/index.html

Can I transfer bitcoins from other wallet and be able to claim sbtc on forking?Until when can I make the transfer?
No. The fork already happened.

What you can do is import your already existent address private-key into Bither, and from there, claim the SBTC. If you send from your old address to a new one from Bither, you will only send BTC and not SBTC.
13717  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Coin Control in Electrum on: December 20, 2017, 02:12:35 AM
What's the difference between "priority" and "privacy"?
Just click the "Coin selection" label and Electrum will give you a good explanation about both options.

13718  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What are the addresses shown in a newly installed Electrum wallet? on: December 20, 2017, 01:06:29 AM
However, I just found out that the BTC address I imported from Jaxx to Electrum shows 0 balance, is there anywhere else to show the actual balance then?
Are you sure about that? It's showing 0BTC only at Electrum?

Try to:

- Recheck if the address matches with the one from Jaxx;
- Recheck if you exported the right address (and not an empty one by mistake);
- Search the address in a block explorer (like Blockchain.info) to see if there is really any balance.
13719  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What are the addresses shown in a newly installed Electrum wallet? on: December 20, 2017, 12:12:49 AM
Hi, I just installed Electrum for the first time, but when I clicked onto the adresses icon, there appears to have a bunch of addresses already.  What are they?
Electrum is a deterministic wallet. It was designed to generate many addresses from your master seed. Those are the first addresses generated from your wallet. You can receive coins in any of them as many times as you want and when you wantt.

And if I'm using Jaxx wallet at the moment, how do I use Electrum to sign message for BTC that's in Jaxx?  Thank you, hope I'm asking the right questions because my is spinning in this new thing 😣
You will need to export your private key from Jaxx and import it into Electrum.

Export your private key:
"Menu" -> "Tools" -> "Display private keys" -> Copy the private key of the desired address. (P.S: NEVER SHARE THIS PRIVATE-KEY WITH ANYONE)

Create a new wallet and import your keys to Electrum:
"File" -> "New/Restore" -> "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys" -> Paste your private key -> "Next".
