14621  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info blocking accounts? on: July 01, 2017, 01:53:06 PM
-snip-
No, there are no more just a wallet service provider.
They have started exchanging services too. Now we can buy bitcoins using blockchain.info. https://blockchain.info/wallet/how-to-get-bitcoins

I guess new version of blockchain.info is not letting us accessing private key which may in support of blocking accounts and demanding documents ?
The page you mentioned is self-explanatory. As you can see, in the "tutorial" on how to buy Bitcoins they say the following:

Quote
SET UP AN EXCHANGE ACCOUNT

Once you've created your wallet, navigate to the 'Buy Bitcoin' tab to set up an account with one of our integrated exchange partners.
If the buy option is not available in your wallet when you log in, stay tuned. We are working with exchange partners all over the world and we'll be in your area soon!

[...]

Blockchain works with exchange partners all around the world to make buying bitcoin in your wallet both a seamless and secure experience.

As you can see, they don't work as an exchange. They are just like Exodus who provides an exchange between coins using a third party (shapeshift).

This means that:
- you don't need a ID verification to use the Blockchain wallet.
- you still own and control your private-keys.
- you are only using the Blockchain wallet to easily buy Bitcoins from a third party right to your address.
14622  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Simple portfolio tracker on: July 01, 2017, 12:50:32 PM
I have a simple suggestion: let the user choose what he wants to see on his dashboard.

Some ideas:
- Let the users be able to remove the "ICO's this week", "Google trends" or any other row they don't want.
- Make every row organizable. e.g: I want the portfolio news above everything in the page.
- Let the user choose how many coins he want to see per page in the "Market Cap". 50 may be too much for some users.

The ICO widget looks good. I bookmarked the page Smiley
14623  Other / New forum software / Re: beta.bitcointalk.org "Abuse Detected" fixed! on: June 30, 2017, 11:18:35 PM
Thanks for your enthusiasm and the information for others in this post (although the question mark in the title is a bit misleading).
You are right! I just changed the title. Sorry about that  Smiley

I also just saw that you are the Head developer of Epochtalk. So I might wish you good luck with the development of the project. I use this forum in a daily basis and in my opinion we could have a better design and more features considering the amount of time the forum already has.

So thank you for doing that!
14624  Other / Meta / Re: Recover Stolen Account on: June 30, 2017, 11:04:47 PM

Thanks !

If the admin will restore the old email that was on the account I can change the password myself. I hope this will be ok. There was never a BTC address attached to this.
Perhaps you could try to try an address which you used to receive money from you signature campaign?? As I saw you had a signature campaign right?
Unfortunally he won't be able to do this because his account just joined the bitmixer campaign this week according to the campaign bot. That means that the address in his profile is from the supposed hacker.

I searched your hacked account on Bitcointalk Price Estimator and saw that you posted 7 addresses in non-quoted text since the beggining of your account. But after diggning a litte bit more, looks like none of those addresses belongs to you.

Unfortunally, if you never shared any of your address anywhere in this forum, you unfortunally won't be able to recover your account.
14625  Other / Meta / Re: Recover Stolen Account on: June 30, 2017, 06:12:35 PM
Send a PM to theymos with a signed message using any Bitcoin address/PGP key staked on your hacked account. That way you can proof that the account is yours and request a password change.

Format of the message to send:

Quote
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

If you can't provide a signed message to prove you own of the account, there is nothing you can do.

14626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is that safe to buy a used hardware wallet ? on: June 30, 2017, 02:54:03 PM
It is never recommended to buy a used hardware wallet because the other person who had this in use before selling it to you may have flashed the firmware or do some other nasty trick. This way even if you wipe your wallet that firmware installed there on the chip may have bugs and it may show your seed to the person who had this before. This happens very rarely but just to be sure because I suppose in a hardware wallet you will keep a good amount of bitcoin.
That wouldn't be possible. Both Trezor and Ledger have security measures to avoid the attempt of installing malwares in your hardware wallet. See above:

Trezor:

Quote
Reflashing the TREZOR with evil firmware
Official TREZOR firmware is signed by the SatoshiLabs master key. Installing unofficial firmware on the TREZOR is possible, but doing so will wipe the device storage and TREZOR will show a warning every time it starts. Reprogramming the bootloader is impossible because all TREZORs ship with their secure programming fuse blown.

Inspect the TREZORs memory with an electron microscope
You might imagine yourself dissolving the TREZOR CPU in acid, finding the reprogramming fuse, repairing it, and then loading evil firmware on the TREZOR. I’m no science fiction author, but my guess is – this might be possible. However, the Cortex M3 is a sensitive multilayer chip. The components inside are much smaller than those fake eBay amps. Chances are, all you’d end up doing is destroying the chip. Even if you succeeded in doing so, this will be a costly and time-consuming task. In the end, the bitcoins will be gone already because the original owner will have changed their recovery seed upon discovering that their TREZOR was stolen.

Evil maid attack - replace the TREZOR with a fake
It might be possible for an evil ninja, or your little brother, to steal your TREZOR and replace it with a fake TREZOR. If the fake TREZOR was embedded with a wireless transmitter, then the fake TREZOR could wirelessly transmit any PIN it received. The attacker would then have full access to your funds.

If you are concerned about such an attack, it is a good idea to sign the back of your TREZOR with a permanent pen. Don’t forget to check the signature before each use.

The TREZOR’s chassis is sealed using ultrasound. Opening the TREZOR without destroying the case is nearly impossible.

How to verify the security integrity of my Nano S?

On the hardware side, if you want to check that the Nano S has not been tampered with, or the applications running are the official apps, here are a few things that you might need to know:

1) The Secure Element checks the full microcontroller flash at boot (this is described in our blog post). If it has been modified, you'll get a warning at boot. As an additional check, you can open the device to verify that no additional chip has been added (referring to the attached picture) and that the MCU is an stm2f042k6 (with 32 Kb flash, as a bigger flash could contain code fooling the Secure Element validation). Markings on the chip can vary but you should see the string "042K6".

2) The Secure Element itself is personalized at factory with an attestation proving that it has been created by us. You can verify it by running

pip install --no-cache-dir ledgerblue

python -m ledgerblue.checkGenuine --targetId 0x31100002

The source code is available here: https://github.com/LedgerHQ/blue-loader-python/blob/master/ledgerblue/checkGenuine.py

3) Each individual application will display a "Non Genuine" warning if not signed when opened. A modified User Interface (as found in https://github.com/LedgerHQ/nanos-ui) will also display a warning message on boot.

4) The root of trust for the current batch is the following secp256k1 public key : 0490f5c9d15a0134bb019d2afd0bf297149738459706e7ac5be4abc350a1f818057224fce12ec9a 65de18ec34d6e8c24db927835ea1692b14c32e9836a75dad609 - as checked in checkGenuine.py https://github.com/LedgerHQ/blue-loader-python/blob/master/ledgerblue/checkGenuine.py#L72

14627  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet Stole my bitcoins automatically on: June 30, 2017, 01:13:12 AM
No, they probably didn't. Electrum is an open source project and one of the more reliable wallets available in the cryptocurrency world. I never saw one single person claiming to have been robbed by Electrum. Maybe you should see if you made any mistakes before pointing fingers?

Here what I think may have happened: You had a malware in your computer, someone stole your wallet file or recovery seed and sent your Bitcoins to another wallet. Have you scanned your computer recently?
14628  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info blocking accounts? on: June 30, 2017, 12:17:13 AM
No. They really don't care about who you are.
Exchanges only require you to verify your identity because they're required to follow laws that apply to national currencies.

Quote
In the US, these are called "Know your Customer", and "Anti Money Laundering" (KYC/AML) laws and is enforced by FINCEN (financial crimes enforcement network) in the US for any businesses that qualifies as a "Money Service Business" or "Money Transmitter".

This guidance published on March 2013, makes it clear that Bitcoin exchanges must comply with existing regulation for KYC/AML.
Source: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/40932/why-do-most-trading-platforms-require-id-verification

Blockchain.info is just a wallet, that doesn't control your private-keys and don't offer you the service of exchanging between USD and Bitcoin. So you and all other users will probably be fine.
14629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The struggle in getting Bitcoins on: June 29, 2017, 10:54:31 PM
Bitcoin IS money. The same way you can't get any physical money without doing any work, you can't expect to earn 1 Bitcoin per day just by clicking some buttons and doing captchas. That's not how the world works.

Please understand that Bitcoin wasn't made to make people rich fast and without any effort.

Don't waste your time trying to earn satoshis by claiming faucets and clicking on ads. You are only wasting the time you could be using to do real services for money or looking for a job.

Then, when you actually did something and received money for that, you can buy some fractions of Bitcoin. That's how you can be part of Bitcoin's future if you are not rich enought to just buy a whole Bitcoin per month.
14630  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - how to see actual balance of owned addresses on: June 29, 2017, 10:31:28 PM
I'm trying to sign a bitcoin address but I cannot find the one that I actually have a balance in.
You can't sign message with your blockchain.info wallet addresses and you can't even know all of your wallet addresses there. You have to import bitcoin address into your wallet from which you can sign a message.
Actually, you can sign a message. But for now that's only available for your imported addresses.

And you can also see all your wallet addresses just like Yuuto said. I logged in my older Blockchain wallet and could see all my old addresses just by doing what the Blockchain support article says. https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/207746403-Addresses

Manage
Your wallet automatically manages your bitcoin addresses for you by generating a new one each time you need one to receive a payment. You can click on Manage to the right of a category to see all of the individual addresses that have been generated for that specific category.

OP, you could also get your wallet xPub and see in the blockchain which address has the amount of Bitcoin you are talking about.

Quote
Within the Manage section is a More Options button. You can edit the name of the category, make the category the default for receiving and sending, or archive it so it no longer appears in your balance (note that archived categories can be unarchived).

14631  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help recovering wallet on: June 29, 2017, 10:02:14 PM
I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge with Electrum. Late 2015 I created a wallet and deposited some BTC. I have a piece of paper
with the seed phrase but no 'password' as it asks me for now but I do have a PIN code. I have tried all other passwords I can think of/have
written down but none seem to work. Tried restoring from seed and that doesn't work either(/unsure if doing this part correctly). I'm sure
at some point I uninstalled Electrum and re-installed recently, does it have something to do with an older version? Thanks
That's weird. I believe your wallet shouldn't need a password if you just restored using the seed phrase.
Are you sure you used Electrum to generate the wallet you are trying to recover?

Quote
I have forgotten my password. What can I do?
It is not possible to recover your password. However, you can restore your wallet from its seed phrase, and choose a new password. If you lose both your password and your seed, there is no way to recover your money. This is why we ask you to save your seed phrase on paper.

14632  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: June 29, 2017, 06:27:19 PM
I'm not sure I understand your question? re-phrase it If possible.
You previously said that "that there is no problem If your private key is imported in both Electrum and Exodus at the same time", so what I was trying to ask is: if I leave the private keys in both Electrum and Exodus, can I see my balance in both of them? I mean, I open Electrum and I see my X Bitcoins, then I close it and open Exodus and they are there as well?
Yes you can.

Understand this: Both wallets (and all other wallets in the market) are just a GUI to see and manage the Bitcoins presented on your address.

This means that you can import your private key in 20 different wallets and you will see the same balance in all of them. If you spend Bitcoins in any of them, all wallets will have the balance updated.

It's like a email with SMTP and multiple clients. You can read and send your emails with any of them.
14633  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [ANN] Bither - simple&secure Bitcoin wallet.(New mobile/desktop ver released) on: June 28, 2017, 09:08:04 PM
How to recover HD account from seed in Bither?
Import --> From HD Account Phrase.

And what is "HDM Recovery"?

HDM = HD + Multisig.

- 2/3 Multisig;
- 3 keys (Cold, Hot, Server) all based on HD;
- XRandom seeds for HD;
- Access server API via BitID technology;
- HD's convenience + Multisig's safety;
- Easy to backup (only need HDM Cold seed);
- Bither's Cold/Hot modes with XRandom are the best mates with HDM;-TXs are signed based on RFC6979 to ensure security;
- Parent pub keys of each HD chain won’t leave its own device (Cold, Hot, Server). No ways to leak;
- BIP16, BIP32, BIP39, BIP44, BitID, RFC6979, XRandom, Bither (Cold/Hot)
14634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Russia] Burger King to accept Bitcoin this summer! on: June 28, 2017, 08:43:25 PM
Good to hear that big companies are starting to accept Bitcoin and see the cryptocurrency with good eyes.

The only problem: 5$ for the burger and another 5$ for the tx fees.
I'm actually curious to see how this is going to work with the Bitcoin network delay to confirm a transaction.

Is it every Burger King in Russia or just a select few? If it's all of them then it could be really good.
It seems that is the whole Burger King franchise on Russia.

Not clicking on the link (I never click on links here).
You can see that the link is from cointelegraph. You don't really need to be scarred of clicking on it.
You could also search on google "Burger King to accept Bitcoin" and choose a website yourself to read the article.
14635  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: June 28, 2017, 08:29:45 PM
We have received reply from Electrum author. Plugin won't be included in wallet by default. Author believes it would create a law risk to add mixer into wallet. Our hook was merged so our plugin will work with new version, but it will need to be installed separately.

We have published an article at r/Bitcoin about how to use ChipMixer to avoid upcoming "declare cryptocurrencies" US law: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6jzc41/easy_way_to_avoid_upcoming_us_declare_btc_law/
That's good enought. So I guess you will release a link to download and install the plugin?
I legit want to test the mixing function from Electrum. Any small advantage you can offer over other mixers is already something great and another reason to use ChipMixer.
14636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: June 28, 2017, 06:06:30 PM
And exporting the private key to Electrum am I also gonna move all the Bitcoins? Or can I sign the message without actually moving the Bitcoin from Exodus?
Importing your private keys in another wallet won't move your coins. You will only be using two interfaces to manage the Bitcoins in your address.
Just use Electrum to sign the message and keep using Exodus if you want. Nothing will change.
14637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEWB here- How exactly do I invest in an ICO? on: June 28, 2017, 04:13:35 PM
Ok, so lets use SunContract for example. They are about to go live. So lets so I send bitcoin to that address. I get the tokens. Now where are the tokens held? If I wanted to sell them, where could I sell them?
In this case you will have to send the amount of ETH you want to invest to a specific address and the address you used to send the Ethereum will receive SNC tokens. Then, after the ICO finishes, you will probably be able to sell those tokens or use them for what SunContract is promising to do. Their rate is 10.000 SNCs per 1 ETH.

That's why I told you that you need to read all the information available on those ICOs website. Some of them work like SunContract (Ethereum smart contract) and others are build with XCP (counterparty tokens).

e.g: Look at everything you can get from InsureX Presale page:

Quote
- Funds are managed by the presale smart contracts.
- Minimum buy in is 15 ETH.
- Contribution address is 0x594f1b4fa77be53c36001b2a207e58d8bcbf3d4f
- Price during pre-sale is 1 ETH = 1758 IXT at 56%.

If you read everything available on this page, there is no chance to do any mistake. They even teach you how to send the ETH to the address during the ICO period.
14638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEWB here- How exactly do I invest in an ICO? on: June 28, 2017, 04:01:56 PM
Thank you. I'd like to invest in Dao and InsureX. How do I do that exactly? (Yes, I have done my research)

Are you talking about the DAO.Casino?

Here is the ICO website: https://dao.casino
It's happening on ~21 hours from the time I'm posting this.
After the countdown go to zero, they will publish all the information necessary to invest in the project.

For InsureX: http://www.insurex.co
Will happen from 11th July to 31st July

Read more about this ICO in those pages:

http://www.insurex.co/presale/

14639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEWB here- How exactly do I invest in an ICO? on: June 28, 2017, 03:54:56 PM
It really depends on the ICO you want to invest. Some of them accept Bitcoin and other altcoins, and others are build inside Ethereum, so you will need to exchange some of your ETH for tokens.

There are a few websites that track new ICOs, some of them:

https://icotracker.net
https://www.smithandcrown.com/icos/
https://www.icoalert.com

Now, please make sure to do your own research on the ICO before sending some money to them. Most of those ICOs will never produce anything to the society and are only made to collect some easy money for their owners. Don't invest blindly on anything you see in the internet.
