All very valid reasons and I assumed as much. Thanks for confirming.

I guess you could replace the fan with one that has its own thermal sensor. Ive seen 80mm fans with this so I assume they have larger ones as well to fit the titan. Might not be worth the cost unless youre replacing a bad fan tho.

I suppose. One of the things to watch out for is that you would measure incoming air temp as the KNC titan pushes air through the enclosure. Technically it's always better to PULL a fluid (ie: air) not push it, but once again running full steam is best on a Titan that is still quite worth something.

Meantime I'm wiring another bypass circuit up for someone who torched a cube's power bus.

Technically it's better? Have you read the research on the topic? Especially when design comes into play, for example look at how the cubes behave with negative pressure vice (semi) directed airflow.

The LEPAs have 18 AWG PCIE cables or 16 AWG?

They are multi-rail but to answer the question they are 16AWG if I recall correctly.. Each rail is capable of roughly 280-300W, I drove Neptunes full out with them for months on end touching about 300W per rail and never had any issues..

I unlocked the overclocking on the Titan as well and wired it into the UI on the BBB firmware but the VRMs just can't push much past 42A so I am not getting much more speed when forcing higher clocks... Need to loo at it closer and see if there is a software bottleneck somewhere else, or if it is simply pushing the VRMs too fast..

Maybe Searing's mention of the "vroom vroom" for the Titan refers to something like that, will watch for whatever comes...

Posting a Titan firmware for the Beaglebone soon, works for all KNC miners Jupiter, Neptune, and Titan.... Keep an eye out in the next few days...
Aw damn, you're going to beat me to it. The key for me was realizing that the fpga-titan code can be loaded with the neptune fpga loader and the io-pwr command from the neptunes.

Couple that with compiling up the driver support code with a few hacks into bfgminer and you're up and running.

Nice job, thanks for working on this. Now I have more time time fix hardware fails.

Why don't both of you collaborate ?

The firmware is already done, happy to collaborate on helping some of the hardware issues and such.. I'm currently focused on working with GenTarkin to see if we can bring it all together..
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 05, 2016, 03:37:15 AM
so theoretically, with a bit of rummaging - one might turn a neptune doorstop into a 'fully'-functioning titan??

If you can get a Titan processing board, sure. The controller baseboard for the Neptune, Titan, and Jupiters are identical, the Titan uses a Raspberry pi plus a bridgeboard but I'm whacking away at getting a modern beaglebone running. The trick is figuring out how to remap the gpio ports, but I'm working on it. Unix lets you pull all sorts of funny crap.

Myself, I am not mining so much as fixing other people's stuff. The titans are worth fixing at this point, good systems.

Very impressive! I dig what you did running the wire external to the board.
151  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB (over time)] Old bulk gear on: February 29, 2016, 03:20:57 PM
If you have old (but not too old) gear - I'm interested in splitting mining revenue 50/50 for three months if you ship it to a trusted third party hoster, then I'll own the gear after that - I'll take care of the bills with the hoster.

Drop me a line. I'm thinking SP3Xs, S5s etc.

S5 earns for 3 months in the best case 0.27 BTC (in fact, much less) , what do I need to share with you.

I get in  my hands 0.135 BTC for S5 (in fact, much less)

How stupid do you think I am ?

Buy from me S5, and ship it where you want.

I cover the power and use a trusted hoster. If someone is willing to pay you more than the S5 will mine, obviously you should take their money.

I'm not sure where Tupsu's crap attitude comes from.. It's an interesting offer but the economics don't work for me, however I wish you well with it and give you credit for trying something fairly creative..

I have about 10 bad boards from batch 7 that need to be fixed. They just stopped working. I emailed Sherry and info@bitmaintech.com many times with no replies. Did they change their way of communicating for warranty or something? It's been a week now.

They still can not find my 2 x S5+ blades with warranty.

Last reply from Sherry was 28.02.16

I also have 3 bad S7 bords , with  is out of warranty. However, they do not make sense to send them.

I heard you can send them to Denver usa if that is better, return times might be really fast.  search this thread, im to lazy to do it.

That used to be the case but now it's only possible if they were originally purchased from Yoshi.. Any bought directly from Bitmain must go back to China..

I use the IBM 2880W units with all of mine and haven't looked back.. They are loud but I run them in the basement and it hasn't been an issue.. Using J4bberwock's 4 pin molex output boards to power them and it's been solid...

They are not as efficient as some of the PSUs discussed above but I am running cables suitable for 300W since I have the option to do so, never had a burnt plug on the PSU or Neptune/Titan side, even when overclocking..

One of my customers did blow out one of J4bber's boards across the 600 or so I have sold I have only seen this happen once... A few more shorted on initial connection but that was due to a manufacturing defect before J4bber tightened up his QC..

Is the Titan a 4, 5, or 6 cube setup cube setup, all cubes fully functional, etc.?

With Adam providing evaluations and comparisons of units while simultaneously working (read: exploiting) affiliate campaigns, getting paid by Bitmain to shill, etc. he is full of shit in many ways.. I am not sure what all of the background is but very interested in hearing Guy's side of the story when the lawsuit is done..
157  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: February 25, 2016, 11:04:19 PM
This is how you clean up those Power Jumpers on modular PSUs...use modular plugs.  It makes the job so much neater!  Many thanks to PPOC for helping me test the modular jumpers on the EVGA G2 PSUs!  I have a bunch of these modular plugs in different sizes for different brand PSUs if anyone is interested...

Hahh, i wouldnt mind a batch if they're cheap. But i see you jumped #2 and #4 for the EVGA. Isint the green wire pin #4? Because my jumpers are on #3+#4. I thought 3 and 5 was black. Is #2 a ground too?

The pin out on the PSU side is different, in part so you need to buy the manufacturers cables vs. some generic.. I've always made these for myself, EVGAS, Corsair, Lepa, etc. (yes the pin outs are different across manufacturers) but never realized people might want some..

I have some controllers as well, can include them with the package... Toss me your post code in a PM and I'll give you a price with the controllers and shipping.

Still available, if anyone wants some or all of them throw out an offer.. All together it's 4Th+, efficiency is rough relative to current gen hardware but if anyone has free/cheap power it may be worth it for someone..
