Because clueless people trade them, just because the coin is new. And the dev selfbuying also generates fees for them. You don't have to participate if you don't want to. Trex just helps flushing the stupid money out of the market quicker. If you need someone holding your hand and protecting you from your own choices maybe crypto isn't for you? |

BigVern's tweet says he gave them the physical "location" of the wallet servers, but it doesn't say that he have them the server & wallet passwords. I strongly suspect the court knows where the servers are, but simply can't get into them. Based on what we have seen, and the fact that BigVern left the US before Cryptsy was in receivership, it would be logical to assume that BigVern has not turned over the private keys or passwords to the Cryptsy servers. I think the court receivers generally know by now what they need to do, but the fact that they haven't done it speaks more to Paul Vernon's lack of cooperation than their own competence. They wouldn't ask us for help if they already had access. Just speculating but it seems a logical conclusion, no? BigVern is acting logically for his situation. He has no immediate incentive to give up the keys (if he hasn't given them up already, which it appers he has not). He is beyond the reach of the court. If he is ever returned to the US, he could use the private keys as leverage (if there is are any cryptocurrency assets left), he can use them today to try and negotiate some advantage for himself, or he can just hope to go on living happily ever after in China. If he give up the keys/passwords, then he has no advantage. I agree... I think BW could be a big help to them, especially if he can get into the servers. I think it's a possibility Sallah has at least some data he is unable to make sense of. Afterall he's a complete greenhorn. Pretty sure if he had the prove in his posession he would be unable to extract it, given how he was unable to secure the funds. I don't think he's able to follow txs on chain like you guys do all day. In the end of the day only he knows what he has. I think you guys are doing GREAT work here. It should be easy to jail vern based on this alone. Also: this thread-history can also be used as kind of proof for the wallet to belong to cryptsy - it was very often a topic on here from day 1. We've got dozens of people on this thread confirming over and over the Uran-wallet was cryptsy. The fat cryptsy-wallet was for more than a year the biggest blob on the blockchain. Putting it on #1 at all times - so due to its size it's really not hard to track back and forward in time. The community should 100% be able to prove all this beyond a doubt, no question about it. As has been said: if Sallah somehow would have or could get withdrawals and deposit histories of cryptsy he could produce tons and tons of prove all on his own. There are so many avenues here how to get to the proof, it's incredible. Basically it all lies out in the open. Go Uno! |

Uran-wallet to be cryptsy-wallet is easy to prove by how it was created. It was a big transaction drawing from many hotwallets, same day as the aledged "hack" occured. So you can produce prove also with old, old deposits to cryptsy as the uran-wallet should be tainted with all the old desposits of a lot of people. Basically anyone can produce tons of prove. I'd think anyone in here could trace coins from his old, old wallets to uran in taint-analysis? It would go two way - input and output. You guys should basically all be able to trace from your old wallets to your old personal cryptsy-deposit-adress to Uran-wallet. The receiver should have the info on what your old deposit-adresses on cryptsy were. So all he needs to produce bullet-prove proof is just a few people signing with their old wallets. Mr. Sallah should actually not even need our help as he should have all the data on the cryptsy-computers. He should know all your adresses and everything else if he's in posession of Verns old hardware. Even if it was deleted it can be brought back. Mr. Sallah can already produce the prove himself if he has the cryptsy-hardware with deposits and witdrawal history on them. Just sayin'! Why is he even asking for aditional info? He has all of that and then some! All the info we could provide, he has already in his posession or am i missing something? Man, Sallah should even have the privatekeys to sign the bloody Uran-wallet himself!  In fact he has so much info that i could send him some dust from a change-adress and he should be able to tell me all my wallets, my name, my adress, my IPs, the name of my mother and the cause of death of my grandgrandfather. He should even be able to call my doctor or old classmates if he puts some work behind it. Mr. Sallah in theory should sit on an overwhelming mountain of info. |

All this excitement seems to have spooked the Uno markets a little.
Still in disbelieve. I think we're kinda waiting for that 15k to leave bittrex just to be sure. Some kind of official statement from bittrex or Mr. Sallah would certainly help. 'Spooked' is actually the right word. Needs some time to get confidence back. |

Whether it was Vern, another Cryptsy employee, a hacker, or the government; that is one of the worst decisions to make. You would have to be truly oblivious about this community & how the medium-sized altcoin markets function. If Vern was just the boating shoes & the signature on some Costa Rican banking documents then it's possible he was that oblivious. but I have the feeling if I combed through his Twitter I would see that he had some knowledge & awareness.
The government is incompetent in either scenario:
(1) They thought by simply having the computer that they had the altcoins secured, allowing Vern or a Cryptsy employee to steal the funds.
(2) They moved the funds to Bittrex for storage & dispersal.
I suppose (2) wouldn't be that unreal if they made a deal with Bittrex to disperse the funds. You'd think that they wouldn't want to trust another exchange, & for $400/hr you'd be able to hire a small programming team to handle it. Really though, there is no way an attorney is going to be able to process hundreds of altcoins, secure them, & redistribute them. Was he appointed a government software engineer for the case? Is there an anti-fraud investigation team combing through the data? Who the hell was entrusted with securing the funds?
Probably the greatest fail would be if it was the original hacker. That would mean that Vern failed to re-secure all funds after the initial hack, the government failed to secure the funds from Vern & the hacker, & the hacker failed to understand that Bittrex would freeze their funds within hours & that buy depth wasn't large enough to handle 15,000 UNO at a reasonable price.
Lol, this situation is such an epic fail from so many angles! Both the government and the hacker/vern failed in any case. Epic fail! Uno community win  Just imagine the face of Mr.Sallah this morning when he finds out that due to his ignorance he almost lost everything Hope he considers hiring some professionals now. |

But Vern made a mistake. The Uran-wallet was created after the "hack", so the alledged "hacker" wouldn't have the privkeys unless he was hacked afterwards again but that's not what his story was.
To me it's very clear this should be with high probability Vern. He's got the privkeys. Why wouldn't he try to sell the coins and claim "the hacker" did it?

The dumping probably wasn't even due directly to the Cryptsy coins. It's at 15,077 now, & the Cryptsy wallet was 15,072, so they haven't sold any & I guess the thief already had a Bittrex account with 5 UNO in it. Maybe somebody else dumped since all other alts were dropping today &/or they saw the Cryptsy funds moved to Bittrex.
Congrats to the lucky individuals who got UNO at 0.0043-0.006. I guess I'll move some more bitcoin there until this is resolved, this thief is clearly reckless, if he sells it down to 1 satoshi & I had no buy orders up I'd be upset.
I think it was 15200 deposited and 133 sold already. Most of the dump probably is from people anticipating the 15k coming to town. I also think most sellorders on 0.0062 are from that account. Just my 2 cents wild guess. Can't wait for this cancer of a wallet to be distributed! The sooner, the better. |

These coins shouldn't come to market in this way. I hope bittrex can verify the owner of that account. These coins should be under control of Mr. Sallah and they likely aren't right now. If bittrex doesn't react we could take it a step further and contact Mr. Sallah? When the authorities order the account to be frozen they'll certainly listen. Hope bittrex does react apropriately and quick. |
