General purpose bitcoin business cards to hand out!

The card reads:

Quote
An open source peer-to-peer digital currency. Bitcoin is
a digital currency a protocal and a software that enables:
- Instant peer-to-peer payments
- Worldwide payments
- Almost no processing fees
- And much more
Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority;
manning transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively
by the network. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting
uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system.
The Software is a community-driven, free, open-source project released under the MIT license

They are general purpose bitcoin business cards, that you can use to hand out to people that you introduce bitcoin to. Giving them this card will ensure they remember to google the word "BITCOIN" and go visit some of the key sites.

For a undetermined limited time, I will mail anyone who wants some of these, for only the shipping cost!

Too busy and distasteful for me.  I'm feeling like "I should get busy working on something to prove more effective" IMHO of course, I like what you've got and will likely use your info but attempt to present it more cleanly.  Why the plug on the bigger site on the left corner...nvm you're from canada....got it.

Yeah, I thought the PanPeru site was dope. I am all about those guys getting some BTC100 love.

Boy, this is sick (term)! This 53 year old fart had to go to Urban Dictionary to look up the word dope as used in context above. I remember thinking that groovy was cool when I first heard it on the Brady Bunch in '69.

Holy shit! She ain't dead yet?

1405  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best options for today? on: September 16, 2013, 09:20:18 AM
Hi,

Just wondering what the best options are if I were to purchase a miner today. Everywhere seems to either be pre-order only or not much above 10gh/s.

So, whats the best option?

Jump on the band wagon and wait a few months (if not more) for a powerful rig

OR

Buy a 10gh/s and mine it while it is still making a bit of cash?

At the moment I don't see any in-between.

Thoughts?

at least put like 30 percent of your money into buying and holding btc for the ease of mind that you still made a killing if the price jumps tomorrow.  what miners dont see is that if they sell it during a bubble that happens next year during may/june....they may miss the 3rd big bubble at the 3-5k USD mark where that initial 30% will be sold for a hefty profit that took care of the mining ROI regardless

a fantasy for me and is highly unlikely to be possible.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Satoshi works for... on: September 16, 2013, 09:14:35 AM
he did enough solo mining to be through by now...for all we know there is someone who works for bitcoin full-time who happens to be him and its a schizophrenic episode to be satoshi.
1407  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If Bitcoins Go Up Will USB Bitcoin Miners Be Profitable? on: September 16, 2013, 09:04:26 AM
heres a new argument - what if I bought one off amazon because I only had Credit to begin with...just one.  Lets take out the additional expense of extra stuff like fans and external hubs and presume that Im only doing one. I got one shipped for 23 dollars at the same time the price is 139 which converts my breakeven at that point in time to .164

Now, I didn't have cash or dollars to throw down on btc and only had the option to use credit which already explains why I couldnt just buy and hold btc.  I think I could make .08 BTC according to genesis block...by then I could also make another .08 in BTC by mining an alt I know this is now before difficulty goes up but coinwarz suggests that one block erupter could also mine terracoin which would yield approximately .0038 btc a day for just one erupter.  .08/.0038 = 21.05 Days added till break even so anyone who says you can't do it hasn't considered this.

I will play devils advocate and mention also that this is not realistic to expect it to be this soon..there are also bound to be other sha246 difficulty jumps on those coins too which may triple or quadruple the remaining time required to break even on the block erupter.  If you ask me the goal isnt to continue to live off the erupters forever, unless you keep switching alts and have enough hashpower like in the several terrahashs to throw into an altcoin network.

Let difficulty hit a few billion and I promise that more alts will jump in interest.  By virtue of the calculations brought above, I could even go so far as to speculate that those prices of the alt I mentioned could also themselves be higher in price from the interest and difficulty  spikes of having them available.  A
1408  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty curve on: September 16, 2013, 07:07:02 AM
Sorry if this rant is too off topic, its a pet peeve of mine.
It's also a peeve of mine, and it very much is ontopic. The people just fitting random formulas to the hashrate and making predictions are producing BS numbers that obscure better analysis (e.g. ones factoring in published shipping schedules or profitability over power costs) and make everyone dumber.

Also exponential functions are present in very much everything self organised. And humans are bloody good at self organising...

All living men are mortal.
Socrates is mortal.
Therefore, Socrates is alive!

Sorry, you can't just wave some hands and some things that have some vague commonality. Good reasoning requires at least arguing for a causal relationship. I can argue how increases in hashpower encourage decreases in the rate of increase— higher hashpower makes every bit of marginal increase in hashpower less profitable— but not the opposite.

what difficulty do you think it takes until we see a flood of hashrate on altcoins?  I mean there are more and more sha256 alts over time.
1409  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coins-e is a scam on: September 14, 2013, 11:06:44 PM
Had you bothered trading elsewhere...you would also have known that this happened because their wallets used on coins-e server are out of date and not compatible with the current iteration.  You need to talk to their support team and demand that they update their wallet so you can withdraw out.

[bubbly enthusiasm] Have the majority of followers on this thread simply transitioned over the KNC's forums?  I liked those pics of the data-center they're building.  Ermm so if sam and cole are building a datacenter....who's overseeing the automation which is suppossed to be continuously mfg units?Huh Also, if you guys just choose to ignore this weekend, it will be like t-15 days till OCT!!!!!!!!  And if you really want to just stop thinking btcminer mentality at least for those dreaded following weeks to get your hardware....buy yourself a consolation prize of Grand theft Auto V.  ITS COMMING NEXT WED!!!!! Look they definately are the gateway drug of choice....

My boss wanted to know what it was all about...

10 x USB BErupters
1x usb hub
1 x bitcoin wallet

& boom he is now an ASIC miner... all from the buyahash.com/shop

No mess no fuss & no BFL,AVALON. etc etc drama  Cool

lol he got ripped off they only do ASICMINER stuff which is like 10x overpriced...even with the crazy price drops they did.  Hopefully he mines alts too?
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do Chargebacks work? on: September 14, 2013, 03:02:07 AM
can someone get away with saying they never got the product x ?
No, but they can get away with returning the product while claiming it is defective, and they can obviously prove they returned it. They get their money back and you get your product back, so everyone's even. Except for your bitcoins, of course, which you'll never see again. Oops.

okay so I've been through the chargeback process on both sides and here is how it works:

person files a claim with their credit card company or bank.  The funds are immediately withdrawn from the merchants account and placed into a temporary holding account.

the merchant is mailed a letter from the customer's cc company with space to reply with a written rebuttal.  If the charge back is fraudulent, the merchant will provide evidence like a signed proof of delivery or a merchant slip with the customer's signature on it.  If those things are located, then the merchant does have a chance to argue against the chargeback and have his funds recovered

It all depends on if there is a service being used around the transaction like Amazon, paypal or ebay.  People who lose on chargebacks  involving those companies have lost because it was expressly prohibited to offer the sale of those types of goods according to the terms and conditions set forth on the website and thus the seller typically has zero recourse.

1415  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What, specifically, does "engaged as a business" mean? on: September 14, 2013, 02:45:52 AM

What's confusing?Huh When I see engaged as a business that means you've registered to be an LLC or filed to become Incorporated or have registered for an FEIN [federal employer identification number]  I'm pretty sure I answered this in a different thread and gave examples that (yes true it is my opinion and should not be taken as professional legal advice) constitute as being exempt from needing to register with fincen vs not being exempt.
1416  Other / Archival / Re: SIGN PETITION FOR PAYPAL TO ACCEPT BITCOIN on: September 14, 2013, 02:40:22 AM
The whole idea of Bitcoin is to get rid of crap like paypal and banks in the first place Smiley

Exactly what is the added benefit of paypal supporting Bitcoin? If I pay with Bitcoin (and I do so when&wherever possible), it's because I prefer to AVOID paypal Smiley

DING DING DING!!!

IMHO seems wise to do this to all boards for at least....yea yea I know you scared clowns all say "you kill the miner and void your warranty"  Its a calculated risk, I'm just asking if you have a USA device and have done this with any success.
1419  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 4TH hashing power, what to do with it. on: September 12, 2013, 10:49:33 AM
You could produce youtube videos where you threaten to smash the things up with a sledge hammer and then take bribes to not do it. Chances are you'll get quicker rich than by running the things.

lol that's a play on madbitcoins crowd-funding campaign to talk bitcoin and spread the message through his YouTube channel

By the way, Congratulations that is a lot of hashpower...his idea is genius by the way, good job greyhawk.  Do both, give dividends, issue shares, maybe keep half or more of your shares to you only...get it listed on bitfunder or litecoinglobal(if you're into that thing).
1420  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Just going to vent to you about how we the people(miners) are getting ripped on: September 12, 2013, 09:14:31 AM
No one saw the network effect from the European Debt crisis and Cypress.  Not even Avalon...if you ask me...it should always be the standard that any bitcoin mining hardware companies should also be willing to accept bitcoin as a form of payment - Avalon saw this no differently.  If BTC had followed a more linear steady growth trend, it would probably have stayed at a lower rate for longer periods of time and there would be less demand for hardware.  I, like a great majority of other users here, got into bitcoin AFTER learning that the price of it could potentially Skyrocket in value,  not before.

Why is it that every time I keep seeing people complain about not being able to perpetually make heaps and heaps of money simply for processing power - dude its Jurassic Park/Concrete Jungle status.  "Life Finds A Way"  which is why mining kept being pushed off to technology that could increase efficiency to stay above diminishing returns.

Guys....MINE ALT COINS....seriously....MINE ALT COINS  when diff is too high for you to sit with.  Obviously there is a bit of a gamble here that depends on your belief as to whether or not the price will go up.  If you think it goes up a whole bunch then you should consider holding onto your mined coins a bit longer.

To me, it seems as though the only ones who actually feel the urge to complain, those who are quick to curse this gift of "free money essentially" seem to desire selling btc immediately for local fiat...this was always meant to be an activity that marginally rewards you for protecting the network.  The block reward halving is a way to wean out the reward structure for early adopters.  The thing is that alt-coins can and are sold on exchanges for BTC and can be mined at a much higher rate.

Do not trick yourself into thinking that a sustainable career path could be made by mining btc and playing the hardware arms race upgrade game.  Hold your mined coins and only sell a small portion at any given time so that you don't lose from any other potential price climbs....conversely, if you really want your investment to pan out better (talking about if you dropped Grands upon grands on ASICS HW or GPU for scryptcoin), then start TELLING YOUR LOCAL MERCHANTS TO ACCEPT CRYPTO!  Keep a few bitcents on a mobile wallet, show them the mobile wallet and explain that is money in your pocket that could be in theirs if they are willing to accept BTC in addition to Cash and Cards.

SATOSHI FOREST FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FWIW I'll leave you with this bit on mining.genesisblock calculator = their calculation doesn't do network retarget adjustment - it does Exponential Curve Rates for Difficulty.  As we all know, asics HW MFG doesnt double month after month, sales do not double month after month, and if more people follow my advice with mining alts- that is hashpower that gradually transitions onto alt-chains as well.  Put it this way, do you buy 1 miner the first month, 2 miners the 2nd, 4 the 3rd month, 8 the 4th month, 16 the 5th month, 32 by six months in???  Can you really see 1 person even being able to manage that level of miners?  I don't...its not realistic.  Well the genesis block calculator seems to think that is absolutely realistic.  Yes its my opinion....no one really knows what to expect within the coming months.
