1441  Economy / Economics / Re: why spend bitcoin when credit card works on: September 04, 2013, 10:30:22 AM
If you have fiat and bitcoin, the only reason you want to spend bitcoin is to help developing it. Ok you don't need to do that because bitcoin will be developed anyway by other generous folks, and you get to keep your wealth.

From merchant perspective, accepting bitcoin is great, since it increases in value, and there's no processing fee. On the other hands, for consumer, not only does he lose precious coins, he also loses the benefit of credit card.

Most cc give 5% cash back on gas, at least 1% on other things, not to mention those freebie insurances. You can buy exxon gift card with bitcoin using Gyft, but you'll miss that huge 5% benefit. So it makes more sense to sell coins though coinbase/campbx or what not, and use that to pay for credit card bill.

Ok, I think in order to convince consumers to spend bitcoin, merchants or services like Gyft have to come up with unquestionable better deal, like at least 6% discount, 90 days returnable, free shipping, maybe a blow job coupon.

I'd like to think that many many people will horde their coins until such a point happens that ppp is like 1000 USD or maybe 600+ USD per coin - then people would be willing to spend the fractional portions of past earned coin to future fund their lives.

1443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Countdown for Shipment on: September 04, 2013, 09:51:51 AM
To me .... 5 different members posting their tracking number on the board here or 5 different sets of Screenshots floating on the internet that show final KNC hardware hashing counts as fair proof in my eyes.  I think you are correct in that 'respected' is somewhat subjective in nature.  I suppose that in the eyes of bitbet, 'respected falls into these following categories:

NOT SCAMMER
NOT NEWBIE (<5 posts or 5 hours on bitcointalk.org)
I think 5 members showcasing stock hashing rates on any major guild would be enough for me as anyone can photoshop a pic.

Pics are supposed to also include a pic of your KNC miner too!  Like a screenshot of the hash-rate related on accompanied with your mining equipment it shouldn't look like a stock photo at all.

It just dawned on me that it was NOAA that supplied the following image. That ain't a good sign!

Did you NOT see that snopes identifies it as a tsunami tidal backlash as a result of the Tsunami and nothing to do with Fukushima?

Just under 14 Terrahashes eh?  Was that paid for in BTC or Fiat?  Are you facilitating a groupbuy where disbursements/dividends are required?  Maybe you work for cloudhashing or alidyian?

My math with included estimated duties and freight puts you at like 200K invested...where does your 500GH/S figure come from?  If you are reffering to something else like cointerra, well then that's even more money spent up front.  Wow all I'm saying is Wow....whats good give me a job assisting in the hosting...I accept bitcoin as compensation Grin

lol you got a pothead supporter 420420420 hilarious.  (he does realize he will never ever in the history of the world ever be able to get anymore than 21,000,000 btc right???  Even if he WERE JESUS there would be some athiests who wouldnt bother pooling with the other sheep to buy) I was thinking about doing that but for like a mutual fund worth say 500 btc that you could invest in which has shares and dispursements.  Does bitfunder let you withdraw contribution funds or do you literally need to keep a committed amt of bitcoin on hand for say 40% of the potential assets available?

I'm dying to know how much fiat OR btc you dropped onto these?  What maybe I'm seeing that others aren't is the rig to the left with GPUs....If you've been doing this since like 2010 then you'd have the spare coin to buy up those in an array fashion like that (not where you'd be spending 10s of thousands of dollars for that if you decided to just jump in on these back in June as a newcomer)....but for that number of eruptors (i counted 121 I could be wrong) thats just over 40 GHs...how do you even administer something of that scale?  Do you have to spend like a few hours if you were to point your BE array elsewhere?

1452  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC reduces prices by ~20-30% for Saturn and Jupiter on: September 03, 2013, 09:13:27 AM
IMHO it dis-incentives people to resell their old KNC hardware for profit...KNC is now undercutting what your expected resell value will be within less than 15 days.  I think this takes out middlemen who wanted to buy up a bunch of hw to resell it via ebay.  I'm starting to see the same trend backfire on BFL items now which seem to only be going for 2x their value and no longer 5X.
1453  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Do we want to continue to allow various vendor hate in here? on: September 03, 2013, 09:09:39 AM
I think it all went downhill when the mods seemed to defend BFL instead of slapping the scammer tag on them. then everyone guessed its because of the advertisement vested interest
[...]

We aren't the one sleeping in the bed, you guys are. We just change the sheets occasionally.

I take it you're not going to even bother answering the actual question there. The one being about BFL scammer tag and advertising revenue.

If so, this thread is pointless.

There was a question there? Looks like statements to me.

Please don't act dense. You know perfectly well what I and the OP meant.

Let's do it this way then: "Will the moderators ban BFL from advertising at these forums? Will the moderators hand out SCAMMER tags to BFL employees/accounts?"

You do realize that mods can't actually do either one of those right?

.....why not?Huh

The operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, said it found the high levels of radiation at four separate spots on the ground near some of the hundreds of tanks used to store toxic water produced by makeshift efforts to cool the Fukushima Daiichi plant’s three damaged reactors. The highest reading was 1,800 millisieverts per hour, or enough to give a lethal dose in about four hours, TEPCO said.

I totally got batshit scared from that one....I found this though too:  http://www.snopes.com/photos/technology/fukushima.asp

Although that isn't meant to detract from the real potential possibility that an exposed nuclear core that gives off isotopes to the atmosphere and groundwater wouldnt cause havok to those in the path
