1441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it really possible to quit on these reasons on: October 31, 2022, 06:36:01 PM
I'm not really an obeying type so the last point would have the least influence over my decision but I think that it's possible to quit for all of the given reasons.

I feel like it's the hardest to quit after winning a big sum of money because such events build up your confidence. You start thinking that you're good at the game or lucky and want to keep going especially when you have free money to keep betting. It's much easier to quit when you're broke.
1442  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - How high can it go? on: October 31, 2022, 03:43:52 PM
It's funny that a few weeks back people were asking how low can we get and now they're asking exactly the opposite. Nobody knows the answer!

There are a few things that work as universal truths in bitcoin and other investments as well:
-the majority is usually wrong. If people keep telling you that it's going down, it's usually going up.
-people who give you specific price targets simply make a bet and hope they'll be the ones with the best prediction. If that happens they'll sell you their trading courses or other useless shit.
-market swings every few years. In a 10 year period you can be sure that if you invest in a company stock, bitcoin, real estate, whatever, you will make money, because as long as an asset exists it will appreciate in fiat price, simply because fiat depreciates over time. This means that even a boring company that doesn't expand will gain value. The worst thing you can do long term is own fiat.

I'm 100% sure of two things:
1. By the end of 2023 Bitcoin will be worth more than it is today.
2. It will break its ATH of 68k by 2025.

Probably only a nuclear war or some kind of global disaster could stop this from happening. You do what you like with this information Wink
1443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are five things you will do if you win huge amount of money?? on: October 31, 2022, 03:14:59 PM
What are the major five things you will do if win huge amount money?. Is it to buy are car or start a business?        Let's discuss about it together.

$10000 is huge to me and from that, I will be able to start a business grocery business it needs a big capital, to build a house, buy a motorcycle and buy more Bitcoin and save what is left so from all these things I need not worry I can go on playing without thinking about the money that I gonna spend and lose, as my needs are covered by the business I'm setting up.

This is the thing, each of us has a different understanding of the term "huge number". I wouldn't call 10k huge. It's a decent money if you want to buy groceries but not enough to buy a decent used car, not to mention a new one. I wouldn't say no to 10k but It wouldn't take my breath away either.

If I had 10k, I'd just waste it on things that I need on daily basis. If I had a huge amount like 100k or more, I'd do some investing and buy more bitcoin.
1444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts when all Bitcoins are mined? on: October 30, 2022, 11:02:10 PM
Since it's estimated that we'll mine all bitcoins in 2140 I won't be around to have any thoughts on the matter Roll Eyes

Even if they're wrong and somehow it's all mined 50 years earlier, I'll still be dead, so I won't care anymore.
What about 100 years earlier? I'll be either very rich by that time or very poor and depressed, hopefully raising my grandchildren. Bitcoin is either going to be dead or a world reserve currency by the time it's mined out so it's go big or go home.
1445  Other / Politics & Society / Re: AN END TO ELON'S GENEROSITY on: October 28, 2022, 06:41:37 PM
I thought he promised to fund the project till the war ends. Maybe he didn't believe that the war would be a very long one. Or he might not be pleased with Ukraine's response to his proposed peace deal.

Anyway, he has been very generous to the people of Ukraine and should be commended. But capitalism is mainly for profit making and capitalists don't give gifts. They give with the left hand and collect with the right one in hundred folds. Elon Musk is using the way to publicize his satellite project and also using the opportunity to build public acceptance by disguising himself as a philanthropist.

With rich people it's all about PR. He was asked to provide Starlink and he did. I'm sure he discussed it with a few advisors beforehand.
He gave the units for free (PR) but expected the US government to pay the bills.

In a new development, Russians warned that they're planning to start shooting down Musk's satellites and other ones used to spy on Russian troops. The US of course warned them back.
I don't think they'll dare to do it. Much rather think of a way to hack them or damage them indirectly and blame it on accidents.
1446  Economy / Gambling / Re: trustdice - scam, very bad site. on: October 28, 2022, 05:53:25 PM
2 days later no answer from OP? What happened mate? Taking your time gathering counter evidence or what? Cheesy

When I see a scam accusation I'm usually on the side of the client even before all proof is shown. I want to be on the side of the victim and they usually play their roles well, but you've got to be a special kind to be scam a business and when caught accuse them of scamming you.
1447  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's up with ranking on: October 28, 2022, 05:30:32 PM
Perhaps as a loose rule of thumb- folks tend to take advise from higher ranked members more to heart than those of lower ranks.  However, this should be taken with a grain of salt as some accounts have been bought, sold, and traded.

Perhaps as a rule of thumb people wait until there's a large number of answers to their question and sleep on it before deciding Wink

The beauty of a forum is anybody can chop in, a smart guy and an idiot.
How do you know a legendary member isn't an idiot?
He could've bought this account, could've hacked it.
Before the merit system was added you could've written only in off-topic and advanced in ranks.
Don't judge the book by its cover, at least wait for some reviews.
1448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you win big in casino, would it be publicized? on: October 28, 2022, 04:52:22 PM
You have the right to privacy, so I don't think that this should be publicized.

Now, let's say they do it, the only thing they can make public is your nickname because your KYC documents are private and should be used only to verify your identity, not revealed to allow random people to connect it with your user name.
A physical casino will also never reveal your name because they usually don't know it. Imagine that you win and they tell you: hold on, first show us your ID or we won't let you out. That would be ridiculous.
1449  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices in Germany - Tell me what you want to know on: October 27, 2022, 10:41:24 PM
Petrol and Diesel prices in Germany as of yesterday:

Is there any product in the German supermarkets you want to know the price of? Or any other thing? Because some people here think that Germany is fucked and there is no way to escape and we are all gonna freeze to death, so the situation isn't like that and quality of life here is still high Smiley

If you live close to the Polish border you can get your gas from your neighbor. They have it much cheaper so it might be worth a trip. They have it for 1.4 EUR and the current average in Germany is 1.9 EUR.

The problem with gas is that the prices were growing fast even before the war and due to virus lockdowns in 2021 that lowered the demand the prices should've went down but they didn't.
The oil market is greatly manipulated. On one hand you have the Saudis that want to make the most money even if it means starving some countries and on the other the green lobby that wants the world to drive their expensive electric cars.
1450  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people withdraw their generosity during crisis? on: October 27, 2022, 09:50:45 PM
I feel like the crisis is not as bad as they want us to think. The media aim at scaring people and making them go into survival mode, afraid to spend money.

Don't expect generosity from people who watch the news every day to hear that their mortgage rates went up, gasoline costs more, Russians are threatening to blow up a nuclear power plant, or a dam to cause ecological disasters, and the winter is coming.
Personally, I've been spending more time at home because all the prices went up so much that I don't feel like eating out or hitting a bar. Generosity depends on your state of mind. Someone who is depressed is less likely to be generous and have enough strength to cheer others up.
1451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you win so big on: October 27, 2022, 09:30:45 PM
It's very hard to speculate about something like this. As you can see many people in this thread say they'd stop gambling and be responsible but most of them faced with that kind of money would keep playing, believing in their luck. It's the same state of mind that makes traders stay overstay their welcome in a winning trade because the feeling of winning is so good we want it to last longer.

I don't know what I'd do. Probably try to stop and control my greed but who knows. I'm holding bitcoins that lost 70% from their ATH so I'm not a quitting type.
1452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear market likely over? on: October 27, 2022, 09:11:04 PM
I don't think that it's over but there's a rule you should all be aware of. The markets work in such a way that the vast majority always loses. Some traders call this a crowded position. When positions are crowded they present an opportunity to be squeezed and a squeeze makes more money in liquidations for those who can afford to make that squeeze and believe me there are people with a lot of money running the market and making those squeezes.

So, if the market keeps proving to be profitable to shorters, more shorters keep taking these positions up to the point when they get squeezed and the market turns around. We've been profitable for bears for a year now and it's not going to last much longer. The bear market is probably not over yet but we're closer to its end than beginning.

.....
This forum post seems more like an Advertisement for bc.game. Grin
He doesn't look like the usual newbie shills if you look at his post history. I would be happy to promote the site if I won that big without any withdrawal issue as well to be honest.

........

How I wish this kind of luck would also come to my random parlays hehe - betting a few dollars with huge multiplier.

Meaning that he makes a few legitimately looking posts before he starts shilling so his posts get a bigger impact? You've seen nothing yet Tongue

Anyway, congratulations OP if this is a real win. Things like that are rare like jackpots or long win streaks, but they do happen from time to time. Don't waste it all on girls booze and shitcoins. Turn that luck into something you won't regret. Wink
1454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodlonaut Trial on: October 26, 2022, 07:46:57 PM
It looks like the next target of CSW is going to be Jameson Lopp. I guess that this guy doing this shitshow only to travel on others'  (Ayre's) money.
https://mobile.twitter.com/lopp/status/1585315567531364352

He shouldn't "vlaim" to be an expert says the guy who forgot to change dates on his forged documents.

For those who don't remember, Craig set up a fake company named Tulip Trust, with his wife Ramona as a director. Craig "vlaimed" that this company holds his bitcoins and that he cannot prove that because it will take months for a company's courier to give him the private keys. His wife runs the company, but he cannot tell her to give him access to his coins, he has to act through an attorney who communicates with the Trust on his behalf. He also refused to reveal any communication between him and the director of the company because of "spousal privilege". Of course he also refused to reveal any communications with the attorney. Months have passed and Craig did not have any private keys because the courier did not meet the deadline.

Have you ever heard a worse story? I haven't and this dude told it to the judge under oath.

Lopp should go to court just to see Craig tell his bullshit and later quote him.
1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prime Minister of UK - A crypto believer on: October 26, 2022, 07:25:16 PM
UK was not doing so well since the brexit and now that USD is pumping it looks even worse, so it's really important that young innovative people take over the reins.
I hope that Sunak proves to be good for bitcoin because there's a very thin line between regulating something and regulating the shit out of it. On one hand we need some regulation, on the other we're giving people who come from traditional finances freedom to govern our decentralized money.
1456  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-24] Six armed men tried to steal Bitcoin inside Blocknance Bitcoin ATM on: October 24, 2022, 07:20:23 PM
Any chance they were actually targeting the fiat that should be in the ATMs?

That was my first thought as well.

Most ATMs have cash inside and there are even sites where you can check how much they have, so that you don't go to withdraw from an almost empty one. A local physical exchange operator that I used to go to allows you to send them a transaction and choose the ATM you want to withdraw from and updates the cash status of each ATM at least once per hour.

I've heard in the news that there's a wave of ATM attacks and the most of them occurs in Germany and The Netherlands, but unlike these guys, the EU gang uses explosives and targets fiat ATMs.
1457  Economy / Gambling / Re: Unpopular opinion about crypto gambling on: October 23, 2022, 08:59:55 PM
Why? Are you kidding with me op? KYC is easily one of the most annoying aspects of crypto gambling which is why most crypto gamblers including me detest it and submit it only when absolutely necessary.

KYC basically nullifies the differences between crypto and FIAT gambling sites by eliminating the anonymity feature which sucks big-time in my opinion.

Many crypto gambling sites provide all sorts of excuses such as legalization requirements, security etc in order to justify enforcing KYC.
There are people who want to remain anonymous - let's for example take the case. IF someone is so protective on watsapp and hiding their identities I would not trust them - I dont like these kinds of group of people. Rather I like people who are clear and open about the dealing. Wrong info sharing is something I would not believe  even for my small business.

There's a huge difference between being "secretive" and being normal or irrational.

What do I consider secretive? When you're trying to do business with someone and they don't even want to give you their first name or make up a name, or hide their phone numbers and want you to talk via skype or something.

What is normal then? Not wanting to send someone you don't know a scan of your ID, your full address, your utility bills. This is too much for me which is why i avoid companies that demand KYC. I have nothing to "hide" and I'm fine with registering with my phone or sharing my real name, but I'm not going to show you my ID.
1458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin Derivatives ? on: October 23, 2022, 08:20:38 PM
What is really Bitcoin Derivatives ?

Are you asking because you don't know, or know but want to start a conversation?

Most people won't know what you're talking about if you ask about derivatives but if you ask about futures it will ring a bell.

In short, futures are a way for people who don't want to touch bitcoin for various reasons to speculate on its price. It's like cheat trading where you place a bet on the price of an assert without trading it. It's understandable when you're into very expensive things like real estate and want to speculate on the market but don't have enough money to own a property and also don't want to invest in shares of a company that does. With Bitcoin that is easy to buy, divisible, more or less anonymous, the reasons why someone would choose futures over the real thing are lame.

Is it the future of money? Bitcoin is, but betting on its price is not. How do you want to change anything and support this revolution if you're afraid to own bitcoin?
1459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto-assets can have significant environmental impacts on: October 22, 2022, 06:37:59 PM
Crypto produces lots of greenhouse gas emissions because electricity production does. Until Airlines stop being subsidised by the governments and start being powered by electricity I don't think this is going to change - one of the biggest polluters, especially per person.

Reminds me of how members of the World Economic Forum flew their in their private jets to discuss how to cut greenhouse emissions.

Quote
Most of the other electricity being produced could go to being 100% renewable within a year, there's just been little incentive on governments to do it (there's also been less of an acceptance of making global power grid structures like the Internet has which would also greatly reduce and standardise everyone's electricity costs - even if companies have the option to withdraw).

The whole world to go green in a year? They'd have to spend their whole defense budget on that and still wouldn't make the deadline. Some countries would be able to do it in a year, others that rely on coal would not. You can't for instance go 100% solar because panels don't produce any power at night. Wind power sucks because it requires a lot of copper to make the generator and copper is expensive.

Quote
Governments banning crypto mining might be a misdirected influence attempt from certain countries to monopolise on the mining industry further than has already been done too - as crypto mining with non renewables was already fairly infeasible in a lot of Europe especially from sources that aren't nuclear or renewable.

I'm sure there's a lobby of banks feeding this narrative that crypto isn't green and therefore politicians shouldn't associate themselves with it.
1460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Survive A Nuclear War? on: October 22, 2022, 06:17:57 PM
Bitcoin itself will survive a nuclear war, but it may become inaccessible, there will be a lot of destruction to properties and facilities (the internet services that was mentioned) at that point, and use cases of bitcoin may reduce due to the distabilation in the normal order of things, but soon after , if there are any survivors left, and the internet is restored, there is the possibility that those bitcoins that were inaccessible will become accessible.

You're assuming the worst which is a war that destroys everything, the whole infrastructure. The truth is in case of a nuclear war nobody would target countries that don't pose a threat.
Nobody would attack Australia because it's a remote land with no nuclear weapons. Even if a country that owns such weapons decided to take over Australia it would use conventional weapons to do so, knowing that irradiated land isn't fit for anything but dumping trash.
