1321  Other / Politics & Society / Re: WTF? Is happening in the UK? on: October 21, 2022, 07:53:13 PM
UK is in a bad spot. They had a PM who wanted to stay, so they kicked him out for bad behavior and then picked a woman to do the job, but she bailed.
To be honest, she was way over her head trying to create prosperity in a high inflation environment, but at least she'll be getting that 100k a year, so she's all set.
A month's work, a lifetime of pension, what more could you possibly want? Tongue

1322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Tank Following The Charles Schwab Indicator? Do BTC Investors Need on: October 21, 2022, 12:14:27 PM
These articles usually tell you nothing. If you read it till the end you'll get to this part:

Quote
There’s no confirmation regarding the possible movement of Bitcoin during the expected recession. However, chances are that it could appreciate as a result of quantitative easing. But this is only possible if the Fed pulls off a strategy to handle the demand slowdown.
On the other hand, it’s also possible for BTC to dip even further due to the recession. The main reason is that stock markets barely perform well during the recession, and Bitcoin is no exception.

In other words, bitcoin could go up or it could go down. we don't know. What was the purpose of the article then? Oh, right, you get paid for it regardless of whether you have something to convey or not.

Remember guys, the moment where everyone turns bearish is the moment when it's time to buy. Those who wait for another dip end up like people who were waiting for 1k bitcoin in 2019, when the price was 3k.

I didn't sell for 30k, so why should I sell for 20, or 19, or 18? People who write these articles don't realize that a large number of bitcoin holders will have to be satisfied with an offer to take it and will not sell unless that happens. People who did not sell now will not be satisfied if the price dips to 18k again. A panic move is when we go from 70k to 30k, but when that happens most people become immune to the market and don't react to drops from 19k to 18k. I think that there's not going to be a big panic move again, like the one we saw in June.
1323  Other / Archival / Re: Help! My wallet was stole and password changed! 3million BTS and 800BTC gone. on: October 21, 2022, 11:55:25 AM
IMO you kept too many shitcoins along with your bitcoins. You had BTC, XRP, BTS... all under a single password? I've never used a BTS wallet so I don't know the details of how it works, but there are some important rules you should follow with your money and you haven't done that. Maybe people who are reading it will see this story as a warning, because we won't be able to help you much.

If any of you hold significant amount of bitcoins, make sure they aren't all stored in a single wallet and a single address. Divide them between multiple addresses and possible more than one machine to eliminate a single source of failure. A good advice is also to spend 1% of the money you're holding on security. In your case that would be as much as 8BTC, but I doubt OP spent 1. More likely it was 0.1.

I can tell you what I'd do if I had the money OP held.
1. Get myself an air gapped laptop with a physical hard drive, not SSD as they're much more difficult to recover.
2. Get a legit, clean copy of an OS, not something from a torrent
3. Get a hardware wallet , the most basic trezor or ledger and put it in a waterproof casing.
4. Get a fireproof safe with 3h rating or better. That's gonna cost you over 5k, but hey, you are holding millions.
5. I'd pick an empty room in my house, install a security system and put the safe inside with no furniture that can burn, only walls, floors and the safe bolted to the floor for maximum fire protection.
6. I'd never invite people to show them the room, never install any software on the laptop, never use any of the devices for any altcoins or to browse the internet.

The whole setup wouldn't even cost me 1 BTC and would offer decent protection from all possible points of attack.

If you hold more than 100BTC, don't be lazy and secure your wealth. It's possible that what you're holding is going to be worth more than 10 million dollars in a few years.
1324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Repeat History ? on: October 21, 2022, 10:51:14 AM
I think that people who say that history repeats are looking for patterns that don't exist and modifying them to fit their narrative.

The markets are completely different every time, but people want them to be similar so they say things like:
According to the bitcoin bear cycle, bitcoin will drop 80-85% in value

There's no such rule.
Since 2012 there were 7 or 8 crashes of 50% or more and 3 of them were over 80%, but that doesn't mean this one will be 80% again. Bitcoin matures with every cycle and becomes stronger with more businesses added, more hash power, more users and more institutional investors. If the bottom were to be at 73%, I wouldn't be surprised.

If you want to see how the market cycles change check the length of the bear markets. The time between a market bottom and the next halving was different each time.
364 days before the first halving, then 539 and 504. We are now 517 days before the halving, so is there a pattern? No, because the bottom could've been in June or still coming, nobody knows that, but the double top in 2021 proves to me that bitcoin does the unexpected.
1325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Faucet and Bonus Farming on: October 21, 2022, 10:12:26 AM
IMO attacks that target site vulnerabilities are a site owner's fault, so even if the faucets were claimed with the use of some glitch that allowed the person to log out of the site and be able to claim the faucet again, it's still a site's fault and user should not punished.

The only situation when it's a user's fault is when he's deliberately cheating the site by multi accounting when the site doesn't allow it. If the user claims multiple bonuses on one account and the site allows for it to happen, the money should be his to keep.
1326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you get over a bad loss? on: October 20, 2022, 09:45:25 PM
You know what is my favorite thing to do, when I am in bad loss then I drink an alcohol and eating some of my favorites foods. Because what is in my mind is that it's better to eat than to lose again and that's the reason if when I loss a good amount of money then the rest of my money I spend it in eating my favorites food and also shopping as well. Actually in my history as A small gambler I  didn't loss big amount. because I gamble what I afford to lose.

That's a great way to become an obese alcoholic who hides in his shell every time something bad happens around him. Wink
I've learned over the years to face my problems standing straight and sober. I drink when I want to relax or have fun with friends, sure, but I don't drink to forget about my problems. Alcoholics often do that.

When I lose money I'm ready for it. When I start gambling I spend a second thinking what if I didn't have that money at all and it makes me more relaxed. I also try to turn a loss into something positive like motivate myself to work more efficiently to earn the money back faster.
1327  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption Should Be Taught From Young Age on: October 20, 2022, 09:09:11 PM
^
Of course you have to adjust knowledge to the age of learners, that should be obvious. We don't show children pictures of decomposing bodies because it's going to shock them and make them wake up screaming, but that doesn't mean that we should never teach about these aspects of life.
I don't think that teaching about corruption in general will make children crave it, just like news about war don't make them want to go to one. Some stories are meant to serve as warnings and corruption and mistakes made by people throughout history should be taught so that they aren't repeated by future generations.
1328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Game Have You Won The Most From And How Much In Total? on: October 20, 2022, 08:56:17 PM
For me poker of course. I don't win a lot of money but the most I've ever won in total was playing poker and that's both online and in the real world.
How much was it? About $2k in just a couple hours of playing.
Second best thing for me is sports betting but I have just a little over 50% wins there. With poker I had close to 70% win rate.
When it comes to losing, I know for sure that I've lost the most playing dice.

I don't believe in luck but I believe in good attitude, weak opponents, good and bad days. It all sums up and helps you.

1329  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption Should Be Taught From Young Age on: October 20, 2022, 08:25:34 PM
I disagree with the idea. We should taught to next generation importance of the hard work, moral, labor etc. If you taught them corruption probably they will be part of corruption if bad things happened to them. If you taught them the real manner, they wont allow to collapse their character if they have to face with worst scenario. Its like if teenager sees the gambling profit on his first experience he wouldn't want to work anymore. But if that teenager knows value of the labor he dont want to spent his money on gambling.

Does that mean that in your view learning about something makes you more prone to repeating it? Learning about war makes you want to wage war, learning about murderers makes you want to murder, and so on, is that right?

In fact it's the other way round. Learning about problems makes you aware of their existence and effects, especially those long term ones that aren't easy to see until they hit you with brute force.

I don't understand how these contribute to corruption. It is not very clear to me if you can explain.

Poor countries with limited access to basic needs and freedoms are usually more corrupt.
For instance, without free press you get limited reports of corruption. The officials can stop news from spreading without effort and when the public isn't informed it won't rebel.
1330  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What to do if your Ledger key have gone in the washing machine on: October 19, 2022, 07:23:31 PM
I have some experience with drinks spilled all over electronic devices and I can tell you that sweet drinks are the worst. If it's just water everything should be fine. I've seen flooded keyboards and phones and they were all fine after some proper treatment. Best way is to disassemble, like the OP suggests and take your time. Put it in a warm, dry place and make sure there's a good airflow. A great place to dry electronics is inside your PC case, or on top of it if you have fans blowing upwards. It worked for me countless times.

1331  Economy / Economics / Re: Global recession alarm, safe money on: October 19, 2022, 07:12:26 PM
The first plan of action is always buying solid no dying assets such gold and government bonds. They are the most secured Once and most of the governments will have reserves of the same with “securities” so that you won’t loose the minimum viable investment. Meaning even after recession resides in the future you get the value which you invested which we might loose for fiat savings during inflation. It’s easy to understand but tough to follow. Since during recession everyone needs money and it could be 10x for simple grocery and 100x for fuel or other daily needs. Hope so everyone gets through it easily and survive.

Bonds aren't the best idea because you're investing in your government and personally I wouldn't trust these people to make me and my money safe. Look what Turkey is doing with their money or how Russia is acting. If you had any fiat based investments in Turkey you're down more than 80% and if you had Russian government bonds or stocks you are not only at a loss but could also be unable to redeem them because right now you could be forced to flee the country to avoid conscription.
1332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did a business proposal of paying 440 nights this Hotel for 1 BTC, October/2022 on: October 19, 2022, 02:09:13 PM
I don't know what to say, 440 days in a hotel is a bit strange for me, but obviously the OP has his own theory of the ideal vacation, in this case an extended one. In addition, it seems that he wants that event to become historic, and maybe enter the Guinness Book of Records as the longest stay in a hotel paid with Bitcoin.

I wouldn't spend a whole bitcoin at these lows.

I also wouldn't spend a whole bitcoin just to sit in a hotel. If it was some tropical island during Winter, maybe, but OP is booking for Autumn and Winter in the UK. That's like the exact opposite of where I wouldn't want to be in those months.

Weird as it is, if they agree, I hope it gets media attention.

1333  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is lying now part of human nature? on: October 18, 2022, 08:34:06 PM
There is no 'Now a part of" about it. Lying has ALWAYS been part of the Human Psyche.
Certainly not an admirable one and certainly something to be discouraged but nonetheless it has always been there and no doubt always will be.

It's often found in the behavior of small children. They quickly learn to lie, even when their parents aren't lying to them.
-Who ate the chocolate?
-I don't know, mom?
-Did you?
-No!
-Tell the truth!
This is a conversation we come across in every single household at some point.

But it gets interesting. My mother had a stroke and it damaged her brain to the point that she reverted back to her early instincts. She would deny taking or eating something, even if she was holding it in her hand at that moment. She would also become extremely possessive and gluttonous, like a child.
I feel like these instincts are buried deep in our brains but in time we learn to suppress them.
1334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help me out!! Exam-related questions on: October 18, 2022, 07:55:22 PM
What is this exam for? It doesn't sound like something you should learn by heart.

You're right.

Some of these questions are extremely specific, even for crypto enthusiasts, while some are rather general if you're into finances. This looks to me like some kind of job interview. I'd expect this applying for a position in a cryptocurrency division of a bank because many of these questions are made to eliminate candidates.

Like in 27 they're asking for a specific paper and in 29 about a specific article. Despite having some experience in cryptocurrencies I'd have no idea how to answer some of these questions.
1335  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com does not deem crypto earnings as legal on: October 18, 2022, 07:17:45 PM
OP have you tried to summit to Stake proof of your positions and movements on the exchange you trade on?
That should be enough to demonstrate you earned your money through trading in a legal platform which also have your KYC. You could even ask the exchange costumer service to provide a document which states your lawful profits obtained by trading, this document could even include your KYC information which should match with the information held by Stake, in my opinion, that should be enough to convince Stake you are not doing anything ilegal.

Also, this topic makes me wonder: could Bitcoin earned by partaking in Campaigns on the forum lead to the same problems?
Would the spreadsheets issued by campaign managers be enough to prove origin of funds? Or would be necessary a document issued by the casino behind campaign itself to provide such proof of participation?

Sure, he probably could try that, but the question is: why does it have to come to this? Why should he be forced by a platform to show how he traded and where? It's not their job to demand him to show the whole journey the coins in his possession went through. He doesn't have to do that and he still should be able to request the return of his money.

Some businesses have a rule in place that if you don't verify yourself you're unable to withdraw profits earned on the platform, but you are and should be able to (at least according to the EU law) get your own deposit back.

We don't know everything, but I haven't seen any accusations towards OP from Stake about his coins being stolen or tainted like some people suspected. Sure, I'd agree with them if the coins were from a recent hack, or OP was suspected to be a scammer who made another account on the platform he once stole from. So far it looks like he did not submit documents required for KYC and they instead of preventing him from playing, blocked his withdrawals.

1336  Economy / Gambling / Re: How is the performance of gambling tokens compare to other altcoins and btc on: October 17, 2022, 08:30:40 PM
They are worth it if you get some benefits from holding the token and especially use that gambling site anyway.   Gambling has been a major revenue source to crypto for some time for that reason I'd say this particular flavor of alt coin has a greater base to grow from then most ideas but of course be cautious  in your research.

I think they aren't worth holding. If you can get some benefits from gambling with these tokens or you get them as a reward of some sort, a bonus, or for a signature campaign you can keep them, but I wouldn't treat them like a long term investments. There are much better and safer coins for that, starting with bitcoin.
For instance if you bought OWL early this year you're down 60%. To do the same with bitcoin you'd have to buy months earlier in the bear season.
1337  Economy / Gambling / Re: All the truth about Crazy Time! Is Crazy Time Rigged? on: October 17, 2022, 07:06:29 PM
The video where it keeps spinning and a technician comes to fix it is interesting. He messes with the top part where the finger that shows the winning field is. This thing can be actually made to stop the wheel if you can adjust the force with which it slows the wheel down and make it somewhat stiffer in the areas between big jackpots so that it never hits. I wouldn't play this for sure.

1339  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com does not deem crypto earnings as legal on: October 14, 2022, 08:38:45 PM
Stake asked the OP to provide his source of funds statement. They have suspended his account and requested for those documents. OP will be able to access his account again if he can successfully go through the verification process.

If it is so, they're stealing from OP. They have no right to keep his money regardless of whether he can prove it was earned by him through mining or whatever else.
Imagine that he was given this money for free and cannot prove that it's legit, it's still his money. No company has the right to act like a judge and jury and steal that.
I don't know how Stake will approach this but there's only 2 legal ways. Either they accept the money, or return it back to OP.
1340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A poker website, but with chess/checkers/backgammon? on: October 14, 2022, 07:07:02 PM
Depends on a board game, but there's a reason why casinos don't make the most popular game in the world (chess) available. Chess computers are so good that it's almost impossible to win against them and people were found cheating on live tournaments with their phones or having a headphone in one ear. Having a computer think for you is almost unbeatable because it can foresee a number of moves in a second.

Board games where you throw the dice like you do in monopoly could work though, but those are long games. What if a player gets disconnected 20 minutes in? In Poker when you disconnect you lose one hand. In a long board game you can lose all progress that you've made in an hour or so.
