Mr. Robot. Its interesting! Cheesy

I haven't seen many shows lately due to connectivity issues, but will keep an eye on this thread...

1444  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with s9's and dead temp sensors. on: June 07, 2020, 05:08:13 AM
You can change back and forth from Braiins OS into Braiins OS+ and back. Relevant ssh command and instructions:

Switch to Braiins OS+ from other versions using OPKG
Switch to Braiins OS (without autotuning) from other versions using Sysupgrade

To move from Braiins OS into Braiins OS+ you just need to install the package bos_plus which can be done from the web ui as well.

In the version number at the bottom of every page it says when its plus or not, also the graphic in the upper left corner of the web UI.
1445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with s9's and dead temp sensors. on: June 06, 2020, 09:09:11 PM
Oh i forgot to mention something. This is not obvious, but always treat the powerlimit as if there were 3 boards. It doesn't matter if there are only two or one, it doesn't literally share the amount you input to the physical existing boards, but will try to give a third of it to each, even if there is only one.

But let it run at 300w just for fun (and science). I think some people had good results at 600w, another at 800w. Since you are limited to 900w, perhaps no more than 720w would be good.
1446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Designing a futureproof, wide-adoption Bitcoin logo. on: June 06, 2020, 08:39:01 PM
Officially, no. Your designs could very well be used by merchants who wish to, but the original logo should remain as is.

There is an unicode character for BTC, its . It took nearly a decade to appear, changing it is not an option. This is exactly like the dollar symbol $, there are countless styles out there, but its officially the same. Same as £, €, ¥, etc...
1447  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with s9's and dead temp sensors. on: June 06, 2020, 08:21:26 PM
If you decide to try autotune, remember these two parameters: Powerlimit, and Target Temp. By default target temp is intentionally 89°, this probably makes the fans go even slower if left alone, but you can lower it if you want. And powerlimit indirectly tells it how much power it can use, and thus not exceed a certain speed voltage combination. With autotune, bosminer+ controls chip speeds individually.

You should wait until it shows "stable" before measuring power and noise. Good luck!

Autotune may let a few errors if it considers the hashrate to be more efficient even with some, so don't worry too much if you do see some, as long as the resulting hashrate / watt use is good. People have achieved even 69W/T so you should aim for something at least in the 70ies, 91 feels a bit too high... Oh but i guess you need 240v and not exceed 80% PSU capacity.
1448  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: June 06, 2020, 08:00:39 PM
With the halving well behind us and with summer coming I decided it was time to install Braiins OS+ on all my S9's for some more efficient mining.
All my S9's are running the March 2019 firmware from Bitmain that crippled SSH, so I had to use a SD-card to install Braiins.
But about 25% of my S9's are missing the U6 chip behind the SD-card slot, and these machines won't boot from SD.

What is the best way to install Braiins on machines in this situation?

I think you will be forced to use the serial port hack, this is very advanced i think there are only a couple of topics that talk about it. I think you can force flash an older bitmain firmware with ssh access and then move from that.

Good luck if you decide to try it, post back your results!
1449  Local / Mercado y Economía / Re: ¿Qué prefieren los Venezolanos: USD, BTC, Dash, … ? on: June 06, 2020, 07:40:04 PM

edit for clarity.   This interests me please  give me a minute

Here is a video

Those are interesting results. You should give more chance to the autotuner, with a very low powerlimit it should outperform your manual settings. The only problem is the time it takes until it decides its "stable" (can take several hours, less with a lower powerlimit)

Also, the settings from the autotune are only saved if you use the nightly version, which you need to enable via ssh with the command bos nightly_feeds on

This only works in the miner you have installed into nand, until they release a new SD image.

And in my city, the business activity of people and businesses has returned to the level it was before this pseudo pandemic began. I never saw a mountain of corpses that the media were talking about. I'll say more. No one I know has ever gotten sick or died.

So I have every right to consider this pandemic a fake.

The party starts two weeks after "relaxing" quarantine. Have some patience.

Until the vaccine is ready, the virus can only grow. Yes, a quarter of the population won't feel it, but the rest will, and many may die without medical attention; if they all seek attention at the same time, some will not get it.

This is what has happened all over the world. Oh, and just because you don't feel a thing, doesn't mean you can't spread it to others who may not survive...

1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees high on: June 04, 2020, 12:05:37 AM
Fees are still high.  I don’t think bitcoin is only for early miners who have a lot of bitcoins, and for rich people’s who have a lot of money they both can pay as High fees he wants. We have to focus on whole users wich don’t have *million of bitcoins and can’t handle such a high fees.

I still use 1 sat/B, and it still works. Takes a while, but who is in a hurry? Its not like i'm in a shop waiting for a coffee to be served or something...

You don't need to be a "millionaire" you just need to use a decent wallet that lets you input a manual transaction fee. Bitcoin works fine, you just have to use it properly, most people are misled by the wallets, well don't let them decide whats a good fee and what isn't, they are wrong. The network doesn't matter unless you are in an absolute hurry, and in most cases, you don't.

Just send at the cheapest fee and relax. Check back tomorrow or the day after that, it'll eventually confirm, it always does.
1456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extremely Low Oil Prices Might impact Bitcoin Mining Industry on: June 03, 2020, 11:59:51 PM
The only miners who could theoretically take advantages of this, are those owning oil powerplants. They can, for the time being, put that excess capacity to use while it remains profitable to do so. Except in those rare cases, where the miner is also the owner of the powerplant, i doubt anybody else would take advantage of this.

Since oil prices appear to be recovering, i guess even messing with this isn't going to happen, unless its a case where its already done (an existing farm).

In the long run it is renewable that have a future, what with being "free" and all. Yes, there is an initial install cost, but most setups can easily serve for 20 years. Its for long time commitment.

The uploader has not made this video available in your country.

Funny thing is, i watched this whole thing when it was getting released. It gave me a Fight Club vibe and the makers admitted to being influenced by it.
What i though about Ecoin from Evil Corp (Which apparently is a hint to Enron/Microsoft, etc) is that its more or less Ripple. Libra wasn't in the radar.

Interestingly they predict the fall of USD, today more than ever this reality seems to be approaching.

As for youtube, well its google. The google of old, had a motto of doing not evil, but they removed that years ago, i guess they too are Ecorp, with all their data mining and absolute surveillance etc.

The horror of watching whatever that video content is about, i can bet its about some idiotic ad of a product obviously not available in my country. Not like the net cares, if it refers to the show itself...
1458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "My macro solution is to exit the economy as a whole [...] and buy bitcoin" on: June 03, 2020, 11:30:52 PM
In my opinion America was on the verge of rebellion after so many days of quarantine and economic collapse. You do remember that some demonstrations against isolation started appearing here and there, before the "yet another case or police brutality" occurred. Combine both, stir, and serve...

Well perhaps also, you don't have the most tactful president in the White House right now... Have you not moved your funds into bitcoin yet?
1459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is good for environment on: June 03, 2020, 11:06:01 PM
Bitcoin promotes renewable energy.
Bitcoin reduces consumption.

I don't think PoW can ever be considered environmentally friendly.
For the second point, yes, bitcoin's deflationary nature incentivises saving rather than spending - but it's arguable that this will result in bitcoin becoming more of a store-of-value coin rather than one for everyday transaction. I'm not convinced that bitcoin by itself can reduce consumption.,

Interestingly this is a built in feature of "money that does not lose value over time" such as gold coins or bitcoin. You can see it for example in virtual currency used in games, you keep to that "gold" saving it until you can afford to buy what you really want. Its more of a savings based economy, rather than getting in debt to get it quicker but then become a slave.

Also banks become redundant for the most part. Fiat money loses value, and you have to put it in bank so that it doesn't lose as much, but then the bank can bankrupt, thanks to the legalized ponzi scheme known as fractional reserve banking. Another side effect of "money that does not lose value over time" is that the remaining banks have to switch to full reserve practices, unless the client specifically want to loan his money, in which case the money becomes unavailable until paid back or returns when it gets in the danger zone of non-fulfillment.

Now consider if the entire world stops using cash. Think of the many banknotes and coins that don't need to me printed or minted again and again and again. Isn't this important? Of course there will be less banks, you should count that as well.

As i said many times, mining becoming unprofitable means it shrinks, and the problem is solving itself. This also opens the doors for the renewable miners, those using clean energy, as the new (easier) difficulty accommodates better for them. There will be more smaller farms than the giant Chinese monsters. Those who prepared and invested in renewable energy, are ahead than the rest. If you depend in paying an utility bill, you were doing it wrong, and thus went into red.

Shrink and diversify, the free market is at work.

* And yes, i don't call it deflationary because its a bit of a misnomer, in reality the fiats and altcoins lose value overtime, because they are designed intentionally to do so (and those pegged to them). Its actually not bitcoin's fault that they do so. An economy under deflation works according to the Austrian school of economy. Throw away whatever the Chicago school says, and learn how it works. There is nothing to fear, embrace it and leave the inflation coins and their debt induced expansion cycles behind.

Never again should any politician have the power to make money out of thin air, thus impoverishing everyone's wealth. If the USD falls, you WILL remember this...

But, but, can i still not do 0.1 sat/B transactions yet? Awww...

I wonder if there is a roadmap somewhere to ever declare a version 1.0, like some specific goal or such. With this versioning, you could easily climb to v 0.100 and beyond...
