1581  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to prevent 51% ATTACK on new coin on: June 18, 2018, 05:15:19 AM
Are you seriously thinking about creating a new currency without being sure about how to prevent one of the main problems in decentralized protocols? I find it very risky and probably unnecessary. Will your project bring any breakthrough in relation to the top 20 current currencies?

PoS is not used to prevent attacks, when they say they use it for that purpose, they only do it as an excuse to centralize the project. It is more difficult to attack a centralized project that has coordination points.

That is, the simplest ways to avoid a 51% attack on a new currency are:
  • Centralize the project
  • Create coordination points
  • Take away the possibilities of profiting performing this attack
1582  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin has now gone 173 days without a new high. on: June 17, 2018, 05:40:00 AM
How long has Bitcoin been sold at 20k? And what was the volume? I think it was just a momentum. To consider it as an ATH is an exaggeration. What would be shocking is if the price on any day of the year was less than the price of the same day in the previous year.
1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2018-06-15]Proposed Ethereum Roadmap Would Activate Its Biggest Upgrades Togeth on: June 17, 2018, 05:12:35 AM
Zilliqa is way ahead with regard to sharding technology. And Cardano is way ahead on PoS.

I think that this ETH developers' attempt to bring the two teams together is a reaction to the development of these other projects.

Caralh*, mano! Daria um artigo do caralh*! Sinistro, bicho.

1585  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Gráfico do fluxo do dinheiro on: June 16, 2018, 11:45:01 PM

1586  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 16, 2018, 10:27:38 PM
just wondering, if Hilariousandco can see the PM of  the user, then he can find from the AGLD pms, who bought this account?
Who are  the potential buyers of this account.
Should not we publish and red tag all the potential buyers of  this account, including OP?
AFAIK global mod can only see reported PM. theymos is the only person who's able to see all PMs.

I did not know about it, although I knew that this functionality existed in such forums. Is it possible for him to use this function when he receives a request to rescue hacked or blocked accounts?
Is there any record of when the PM was viewed by a third account?
1587  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-15] Thomas Lee: Weakness in Bitcoin Is Caused by Futures Expiration on: June 16, 2018, 10:17:56 PM
Future contracts do not need so much volatility. I do not understand why they continue with these reports. And the main futures contracts are dollar operations. These people make money talking nonsense.
1588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / All transfers of the $800M ICON are disabled due to fatal bug in smart contract on: June 16, 2018, 05:43:59 AM
All transfers of the $800M marketcap ICON (ICX) are completely disabled due to fatal bug in smart contract (self.CryptoCurrency)

Earlier this morning, a smart contract bug was first discovered in Yggdrash (YEED) that allowed anyone except the contract creator to enable and disable token transfers for everyone.

A short while later the same bug was found in the Icon (ICX) smart contract. A few minutes ago, someone began spamming the contract with disable transfer transactions.

ICX is unable to be moved from any wallet at this point.

edit: And now Binance has suspended ICX withdrawls and deposits.

edit2: Binance has re-enabled the ICX wallet. Currently token transfers are enabled but may be disabled by the smart contract and anyone with the gas to send in the command.

1589  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need Some Advice!! on: June 16, 2018, 05:09:15 AM
This story is very strange. There is a possibility that you are trying to attract someone to lend you money for this system. But the system may not exist. The images you posted would not be enough proof.

But if it's true. You can easily retrieve a BTC by offering trading courses. Or maybe even create a system where several people lend you fractions and you invest for some time. But for this, you need to demonstrate more evidence that your system really exists and that you are reliable.

As for your friend, there are some offers you can look for in some forums that accept Bitcoins. They could find your friend ...
1590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOS Token (IOST) Ready to boom the market on: June 16, 2018, 03:13:15 AM
I was thinking to invest in IOST. But after I read this topic I have given up. It is full of shill accounts and new accounts that appear to be only created to talk on this topic. There is not a product, mainnet or anything. Just promising. And it is full of pictures of meeting. Soon we will start to receiving news about possible partnerships. This is almost like the TRON handbook. It could possibly hit a big value and some people could make a lot of money. But it doesn't appear to be a project looking for more than just a pump.
1591  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-06-15] Novogratz Invests $15M To Mass Produce Crypto Exchanges For Illiqu on: June 16, 2018, 02:27:06 AM
Famed hedge fund trader and bitcoin evangelist Mike Novogratz announced today that his Galaxy Digital Ventures is investing $15 million in blockchain startup AlphaPoint, a New York-based company that aims to simplify the way assets are issued on a blockchain by essentially offering customers the technology used to create crypto exchanges.

In this way Novogratz, a onetime billionaire macro-trader for New York City’s Fortress Investment Group, is doubling down on his numerous blockchain and cryptocurrency investments, backing a proverbial pick-and-shovel maker in the budding sector.

AlphaPoint, an early entrant to the cryptocurrency space, already counts customers that include commodities giant CME Group, the Royal Mint of England and more. But with the funds from Novogratz’s newly launched firm, AlphaPoint CEO Salil Donde hopes to expand that to include a wide range of other assets that have traditionally been difficult to trade.

This is cool. Like the Reddit cake day. Happy B-Day theymos.

Taking advantage of the off topic, I'm seeing very few advertisements in the forum, instead of them, I'm seeing a lot more messages and links to interesting topics related to Bitcoin. Is there any place with a list of these texts, quotes and links?
1593  Economy / Services / Re: [BUYING] 20$ for an explanation about Telegram notifications on: June 15, 2018, 05:56:39 AM
The problem is not the notifications. It is your channel. People subscribe to a lot of channels and they forget to go back. There is to many that look similar. And I think most of your subscribers are just bot or fake users that you probably have bought or pay to subscribe. Comparing to Asian Whales, they have only 26k, less them you, but their last message has 4.5k views. People care about what they post because they always bring quality content. Binance has 66k and their last message has 38k views. It is not the notifications, it is the content.
1594  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: June 15, 2018, 05:43:48 AM
I am still confused about this stealth address.
Is there any advantage of using an stealth address over his method?
Maybe convenience, if there is an easy client to handle stealth address?
I usually read stuff like this from bitcoin.stackexchange.com ,and from what I have come across a reply that explains about stealth addresses in brief and a few things I noticed was:

- Stealth addresses don't necessarily provide 100% anonymity.

- The difference is that stealth address are based on providing unique addresses, other than manually providing different addresses.

Read this reply: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/29648/5757

In the last answer, someone says the concept was introduced by Peter Todd. Some other people usually say that. It was not. As I said before, ByteCoin comes up with the concept. But in his concept, the sender could have the money back because both could compute the private key. CryptoNote paper comes up with a solution to this problem. Amir Taaki suggests address format and some use cases and only them Peter Todd make the introduction paper to Bitcoin.
1595  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] coinglacier.org | Browser Tools for Bitcoin Cold Storage on: June 15, 2018, 03:01:44 AM
Thank you for your feedback!
One question about this one:
Quote
In the paperwallet section, it would be better separate a little more the private keys from the public keys.
--> What browser do you use? On a desktop/tablet/smartphone?

Ubuntu Desktop Chrome.  When I make a paper wallet using bitaddress The print wallet makes the public key very far away from the secret. In your template, The address is to close.
1596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: June 14, 2018, 11:21:27 PM
pls what is the total supply of ethereum?
ethereum total supply is increasing because mining reward
miner get reward with each block they mined and confirm the transactions
now the circualtion supply is more then 100 milllion for now and its total supply is unlimited but only miners can get few in a year

Interestingly though Vitalik brought up the discussion about implementing a cap to the total supply of ETH.

If I remember correctly it was on april 1st? By the way, if he want to implement a cap (but this question is for all PoS coins) how it will work with PoS ? It's the same thing as PoW where miners get only transaction fees after all coins are mined?

It could have an inflation rate of ~1% YEAR. After PoS. Today it is about 10%. But it is not entirely clear how it will work. It would depend if the stacks holders will receive some rewards.
1597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [THE WORLD'S FIRST DAICO] The Abyss - The Next-Generation Game Platform on: June 14, 2018, 09:43:48 PM
Who can tell how many Abyss tokens was cost on ICO sale? At the moment they can only be bought at the HitBtc Exchange? I hope this is only the first exchange? They have a lot of fake sales volumes.

It is just the first one. They will soon be listening to others. But it still a great time to buy and accumulate. When they hit a major Exchange the price will explode.

O protótipo foi lançado.

E está muito legal. Rodando liso. O sistema de leilões é bem simples. Quem gosta de games, é uma boa testar. E o Daico está funcionando com eleições regulares.
1599  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-12] FORBES: This Could Be The Next Big Thing For The Bitcoin Price on: June 13, 2018, 10:15:02 PM
The important fact to be highlighted is that big money wants security. And interestingly, they do not believe that cryptocurrencies and open source and decentralized projects are safe enough.

They want institutions authorized by the government. And that's part of what coinbase and other exchanges are looking for. Wanting to buy regulated banks and offering safe cold storage options.

These two facts, yet to be achieved this year, will determine the future of Bitcoin.
