He wrote posts all week. He expressed his thoughts. Now it is reported that all my written posts for the week have been deleted by the moderator. Tell me what is it? Where to go?

Who is HE who expressed his thoughts through you? Maybe you should go to Jerusalem, especially since there are only 5 days left

722  Other / Serious discussion / Re: 51% attack vulnerability could be more possible than ever, here's why. on: December 20, 2018, 04:13:28 AM
If there is any suspicion of a 51% attack on Bitcoin, the big exchanges will wait for more confirmations in the transactions. Something like this would be noticed, and the news would be quickly expelled.

The real possibility of a 51% attack being made will only exist when the biggest benefit is something other than double transactions. Maybe when you have a group that wants to break the trust that people place in Bitcoin. Then this group could leave farms dormant or being used in other currencies until a time when the attack was possible.

It could not be a company since the financial logic of a return is unlikely.
723  Other / Meta / Re: 🔥🌟🔥BUYING LOT OF MERITS!!!🔥🌟🔥 on: December 20, 2018, 03:25:40 AM

But then I thought buying merit point will only give me happiness but not satisfaction within me as i have cheated.  Also it would not give me any experience

This is a very innocent way of thinking. But it is good that you have come to this conclusion. Unfortunately, not everyone would feel bad about buying merits and cheating. So the big demotivating factor when buying merits is not that you would foul your soul. It is that you will dirty your account forever with a very likely Red Trust.

And taking out a Red Trust is a very difficult task. Much simpler to build informative and useful posts that can acquire some merits.

I am not the best example of how to get many merits since I still lack 148 merits for the next ranking. Even so, I always earn a few merits every month trying to inform or discuss matters about Bitcoin and Altcoins that I like and read about. I always think of providing useful information to someone rather than just replying to a topic about my personal opinion. Bitcointalk is not a social media, it is a forum for debates.
724  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I put money in my Bitcoin wallet? on: December 19, 2018, 11:49:02 PM
The main thing is to say where you want to transfer these bitcoins to your wallet. Did you use an exchange like Coinbase to buy Bitcoins? Or someone else is trying to send to you bitcoins?

Bitcoins addresses start with only 1, 3 or bc1. If it starts with 2, m, n or tb1. It is an address of the testnet blocknet . It has no commercial function. Some people may try to cheat by saying that they will send Bitcoins and actually send Bitcoins testnet.

726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.6 billion in gold vs 1.6 billion in Bitcoins on: December 19, 2018, 03:44:35 PM
The gold looks much more impressive than a paper wallet!
Unless you're moving and have to pick it all up.

But these gold bars are stored in vaults where few people can see its beauty. That is one of the points. Gold has several other usefulness, but its value is priced as store of value. It could be used for several other functions in the most varied industries, including jewelry. But the function he performed there in a shed surrounded by security guards and distant from the public eye can easily be replaced by Bitcoin.

Or you can add gold flakes on your paper wallet to make it look snazzy and glitzy  Wink

727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 1.6 billion in gold vs 1.6 billion in Bitcoins on: December 19, 2018, 03:50:25 AM

People complain about the waste of electricity to produce Bitcoins. But it is unbelievable the waste of the various resources we spend or no we do not use to serve only as a store of value.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Full Nodes Bitcoin Online ? on: December 19, 2018, 03:25:47 AM
Nodes online:

BTCitcoin Core / 9468

This graphic is wrong, or, at least, not totally true about the real number. According to @gmaxwell: "that page only lists ones that accept inbound connections". The actual number could be over 50 thousand. Still, it may sound small, but it is not. This number already guarantees the necessary statistical reliability. And more nodes would be useful to ensure individual security and privacy, but would not be totally necessary or urgent at this time.

I do not know if bitcoin-seeder still works, but it could deliver better numbers: https://github.com/sipa/bitcoin-seeder

730  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tom Lee's final analysis of the year on: December 17, 2018, 08:28:02 PM
I prefer the analyzes where the trader puts that up to a certain price he is buying, selling or maintaining position. To say that the price is unfair is extremely irrational. You do not have all the information to say exactly why others are selling at a certain price.

I am buying with the value below the 4k. And I will only review my position when the price is above 6k

735  Other / Meta / Re: Could we stop having ban appeal topics? on: December 13, 2018, 11:50:01 PM
I wouldn't be against some sort of appeals sub board and maybe only staff can posts in there, but locking thread is a tricky issue.
In this case we should have a sticky for all the Ban appeal posts, or a sub-board, where people are only allowed to open a topic if they're banned and want to have information about the possible unban...
It would make the Meta thread easier to read, because nowdays every second topic is a kind of 'unban me please I was hacked' topic...

That would be better than the current system.

I am not against the right to appeal. It is exactly the opposite. I believe that the format that exists today is bad for the forum, for the user and for Bitcoin.

The only thing that allows is a last walk of shame. Where the user tries desperately to reverse the situation. A fairer and clearer form of appeal is needed.

736  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for topic ordering in altcoin announcements? on: December 13, 2018, 07:13:25 PM
Many of the ideas proposed are just to reduce the number of bumps a topic may have in a given period of time. This will create an almost static order of topics of little use. The ideal would be to have an algorithm that privileges the ranking of topics where some discussion is taking place.

Imagine that a project is suffering a 51% attack. It is important that ANN and the top topics where developers discuss the project are among the first topics in the section. At least I think that way.

I believe that the ideal would be to create a score. Organize the topics in a ranking, but without limiting the period. A certain topic could remain for a few days among the first. Where each comment of a user would receive a certain weight according to the past of this user. That is, the ranking and amount of merits that a user has would determine the weight of that comment. This would be in addition to the number of positive reports of spam and the number of views.

Maybe use the Wilson score interval. Where positive and negative would be the profiles that comment on the topic

Quote
Score = Lower bound of Wilson score confidence interval for a Bernoulli parameter

Say what: We need to balance the proportion of positive ratings with the uncertainty of a small number of observations. Fortunately, the math for this was worked out in 1927 by Edwin B. Wilson. What we want to ask is: Given the ratings I have, there is a 95% chance that the “real” fraction of positive ratings is at least what? Wilson gives the answer. Considering only positive and negative ratings (i.e. not a 5-star scale), the lower bound on the proportion of positive ratings is given by:

737  Other / Meta / Could we stop having ban appeal topics? on: December 13, 2018, 04:04:59 AM
Any user who is banned for plagiarism gets a message explaining the reasons for the ban, as @hilariousetc commented. I do not know exactly the text of the message, but it should have something saying that the ban is definitive and that there is no way to appeal.

Therefore, these topics opened by those who have just been banned serve only as a Walk of Shame. There is no gain for the forum or community. It is difficult and annoying to receive a ban or a punishment, whatever the situation, and of course the user, even knowing that he is wrong, will try to use every possible argument including an apology.

I think after explaining which post the user plagiarized, the topic should be blocked. And only moderators or administrators post on it if the situation requires it. Any other communication should be made by the appeal email. I'm not saying that I agree with this rule of ban forever who plagiarized. Neither do I disagree with the right of defense of those who received a ban. I just do not believe that the best way to appeal against such punishment is with these topics.

And the people who exchanged private messages with him. Did any of them ever decide to reveal these messages? Several emails and conversations have been published, and many of those help us to better understand why certain functions or decisions regarding Bitcoin.

Maybe some of the people who exchanged messages with Satoshi using the forum could post those messages.
739  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is it possible to sign/create a transaction without specifying inputs? on: December 12, 2018, 02:35:10 AM
Coupon is a second layer solution at the top of the fiat. A coupon centralizes and restricts the options you have to spend money. For a store, it would only be convenient to provide coupons that are tokens or that a use restriction is possible.

But I think it would be interesting to have a way to pass coins without having to access the wallet. The opendime seems to work something like this. Although it is a physical object, you can pass several times without opening the wallet. But you still have a company behind, you need to have some confidence in that company.

I think trying to create a bearer's check would be a simpler way of thinking about this problem rather than coupons. A code that you could type a single time on any computer or smartphone that has a simple Bitcoin wallet. The transaction would be transmitted. This would allow you to use the code on unsafe computers without any risk to your wallet.
