It looks like everybody is selling their altcoins to get bitcoin. Bitcoint is getting higher and higher but altcoins do not profit from that.
I heard from my company's IT that there is a new phishing spree which in the end blackmails the victims and asks for a Bitcoin payment. I don't know if that's part of the reason people is selling cheap altcoins and buying expensive Bitcoin... They should at least allow it to correct a bit if they're traders buying BTC to profit, I can only guess that most people act this way out of a desperation or need.... Or maybe FOMO?

I wouldn't spend $10k in something like that in order to make another company rich. If I wanted to invest this amount of money somewhere, I'd just split it into BTC and altcoins. This way I'd support the projects I like without having to worry about hardware stuff. Maybe if enough people would do that then they'd lower the prices to normal levels.
And if you want a steady income, invest in a PoS coin like ARK (dPoS to be precise) or maybe ETH... which might finally become PoS in the future.

new record on hashrate for ETH.
262350 Gh/s.
WTF is happening here??? This is destroying profit!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!
4 hours ago we had 252.000GH/s.
As time passes by , more and more and more GH are joining the pool while THIS IS BECOMING LESS PROFITABLE. Are the people really mad?? Or is it that people have definetely abandoned many many many other coins???
I don't see anything too outrageous, it's constantly going up and down but in general expect the diff to move higher as time goes by. I'm really sorry to hear this is destroying your profit, it's sad that the extra hashrate is coming from despicable monsters who don't respect the miners that were here before. I'm sure they don't care about your noble plans to hold ETH and keep buying it to support it! [INSERT TROLL FACE HERE]

The whole ASIC thing is a scam! They release an ASICs with 8 months ROI, then after 6 months they ship faster ASICs that send the diff flying! Then you need to wait another 4 months for a total of 1 year to get ROI. By then even faster ASICs will be ready and you won't be making any noteworthy money after deducting the power cost. Think people... if the ASIC miners are profitable, then why would the manufacturers sell them and not keep them for themselves?

I wonder if we have any estimation about how many FPGAs have been sold and how many will become available on August. If the few sellers don't put a rule like "2 cards per address" there's no way I'll be able to secure any, but I hope that they'll do their best for the sake of keeping the networks decentralised.

How comes that in the BETA you don't have crypto wallets addresses for depositing coins yet?
So far we're only able to deposit Euro, exchange it for coins but we're not able to withdraw the coins, right? I've read in your post that at the moment you're integrated with another exchange, will this keep working like that until you make an exchange system of your own?
You can already withdraw your coins from the exchange, depositing coins will be enabled during the next three months. At the moment blockport is only connected with Bitstamp, but we will add more external exchanges in the future. Additionally we are already develop our own internal exchange system. Thanks for the answer. If you're doing the exchanges through Bitstamp, does that mean you're not on ARK's platform yet? I learnt about Blockport through ARK's announcement about your collaboration, is this still going on?

They should have left ETN GPU mining, what a big mistake! they just don't get it.
Today #93 on coinmarketcap, seems the asics are doing better for ETN than the gpu's did, i mean the rented gpu hashpower of course lol you are right! People don't even bother to back up their statement when they're talking about GPU>ASIC like they know something the devs don't. Yes, we GPU hobby miners have less coins to work with, but that's no reason for a coin to fail.

Yea, indeed what's going on? I came here hoping to find a reason, though I'm kinda glad I didn't find any reason for the dumping and instead people are probably panicky selling to catch the rise of BTC. FOMO I guess...
But the team really needs to do better advertising as it seems.

There was a preorder button that would not do anything every time I'd press it. Now it's turned into an "out of stock", did they become available for just 1 minute or something?
I wasn't expecting anything more than the cards to go to a couple big farms anyway... Decentralization and all that.... But I had a little hope.

The most profitable coins nowadays - it's merit. Not only for 1080ti's, but for all nvidia's
Give us more information, pls. Algo, pools? The algo is called "constructive posting" and it's PoW..... I think he means this forum's merits lol ! I would not be surprised though if there's such a coin, named "merit". But I haven't hear anything like that.

I have 3 different favorite coins in which I've invested, ARK = A very promising project which aims to make blockchain adoption easy and to allow interactions between blockchains. They're not new, they have a working product, a constant amount of updates they're even hiring people (just look at their blog posts! https://blog.ark.io/). Electronem = A new, promising but risky coin which targets the mobile users. They offer a "mining simulation" for Android and at the moment it's under beta testing for iOS as well. I'm mostely possitive about this project but I also have a fear that another solution might come out of nowhere before the adoption of ETN is secured. XRP = That's a long term investment because like BTC and ETH, this is a steady coininvestment.

Where are we at bitcoin now ? How many left to mine and how many is in circulation?
17,157,700 coins are in circulation out of the total supply of 21,000,000; that is 81.70% as of today. Every 210.000 blocks the rewards are halved, with the next halving expected at 630000th block which is expected to be reached on May 2020. So, the speed by which we're moving to 100% is continually beeing slowed. Since his name is not Bill gator or pugman, I suppose I get no merits, but still it was an easy question which I wanted to answer! If you can still count my answer that'd be appreciated. By the way I double posted because the rules are "10. No editing your posts after giving your initial answer. Making edits will disqualify your answer."

Talking about "staking" calculations, I haven't managed to find info about one thing: Do I need to have the wallet running all the time? What happens if I shut it down for 1 min? for 1 hour? for 1 day?
I think I've read somewhere in the official guides that the stake's age doesn't count, do I remember that right? If so, then am I having a chance to stake every time a block is forged and I have the wallet running? I have 500 GRC and for 2 months now I haven't staked anything with about 50%-60% uptime.
PS: Initially I didn't have my wallet locked at all, but at some point I locked it and I'm unlocking it for staking every time I boot it.

Good day. Can you tell me is any special topics for getting merit or if I write posts in topic "off-topic", this is the same with other topics? Thanks.
This is one such topic and then the OP has linked 2 more threads. But I don't think you have much of a chance to get merits if you don't even read the first post of a topic before you post.

You will be working for 20 merit points. Good luck to all. I will announce when they’re gone and lock the thread.
Wow this is half a year old thread! But hey, if it's not locked yet then I guess I'm not too late, right? I'd like to take you up on your very generous offer @QuestionAuthority. I'm following the trend about a year now, but I created an account here after the merit system was implemented, therefore I worked my way from 0 merits to 29. The next step looks very distant and lately I feel like people have stoped being generous with their merits, maybe the users started to dry up? So as you requested, here are some of my latest posts BUT it's not all about BTC, I'm supporting BTC and 4 altcoins, I hope I'm not out of the criteria. A bit indirect, but the last sentence of the post kinda proves my plans to save up on BTC (and altcoins) in order to use them for purchases in the future, but I repeat it's indirect so moving on... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=825087.msg38048488#msg38048488My bullish analysis for BTC on 22/6 for a final price crash (and then bullrun) to bellow 6.000$ which was reached 7 days later and until now it seems to be the bottom. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg40643748#msg40643748Similar to the above with a humorous image (but written in greek), https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3288558.msg39870249#msg39870249Then some general, not-BTC-specific posts, Assisting people who might have been infected by a specific "fake" wallet by pointing them to a removal tool, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1649695.msg42293906#msg42293906Guiding someone to the information he was looking for, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1649695.msg42282866#msg42282866Minor technical advice to someone looking to build an FPGA mining rig, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3459858.msg42270670#msg42270670I reported to the devs of an exchange a bug they had on their front page, we then took the conversation off the forums where I provided them with chrome's console log files, but whatever, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1921439.msg42231207#msg42231207Nothing special, just informing a new users about a coin they were intrested in, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3238497.msg42018996#msg42018996I just remembered you asked for our posts that shows we're intrested in learning, so I guess posts like this, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3688965.msg42016883#msg42016883My personal tips about how to avoid scum projects,https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2353282.msg38499980#msg38499980

I want to ask, time to update merit is how many days?
There is no time intervals. It is based on your quality content and the perception of quality of the other users. Quick look through your post history and.. I'm impressed that you understood what he was trying to say! Nice image by the way, wanna try it on me too?

In their site's FAQ, they're saying (about GPUs), - Where are my GPU cards located?
Your GPU cards are located in one of our data centers in either the United States or Europe.
So I was wondering, can't I just buy an FPGA which will be hosted in a European center and then shipped from Europe? Or no matter what, they'll ship from US to a European center and I'll get charged the import fees?

I'm using this software with GTX1080 and Claymore Dual Miner 11.7. Hashrate raised from 25 to 34 MH. It doesn’t work with Monero miners and with Phoenix miner.
It absolutely DOES work with Phoenix. I’m using it on 2 different systems. I've also tried ETHpill with XMR Stak and it imporved my hashrate on Monero v7. I mined it for testing purposes and I can't recall the amount of increase, but it was very obvious, like 20%-30%. Oh but I'm using a 1080 ti, you mentioned the 1080.
