1681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice on useful altcoin mining software on: March 29, 2023, 09:36:20 AM
Hello everyone, I am new to altcoins mining and would like to know what software is used by professionals or just people who already have some experience in this field.
If you use asic, then you don't need software. Asic has a web interface where you set up the desired pool, coin and run asics. There is ASIC array management software to manage hundreds or thousands of ASICs with a single command, but I think this is not your case.

For graphics cards, I prefer HiveOS and RaveOS. For Windows for beginners, NiceHash is suitable, although I recommend learning Linux systems right away. You do not need to download new miners and risk downloading viruses. Developers check all new versions of miners and constantly update their software.
1682  Other / Archival / Re: What is FPGA miner? on: March 29, 2023, 09:26:43 AM
Wow, really appreciate the replies.
What I understand is that we could repurpose a FPGA device to do whatever we want. The idea of an ASIC is that you hard code it physically to do the only one task which is mining, but FPGA is like a raw ASIC, where you could introduce whatever functions you want.

I'm interested in using them for brute force and new revolutionary attack methods in order to improve the security of cryptocurrencies. Just in case you haven't noticed, nobody is going to share their findings about vulnerabilities because this is a decentralized jungle where knowing about weaknesses is considered as a score against the rest of the world.

~dig.

There are also asics that can mine several algorithms. These are Baikal asics, but not all mining modes are profitable. If you buy an FPGA, then you will depend on the development team and on the speed of releasing new updates to mine new coins. And it's not free, many manufacturers charge you to upgrade your FPGA software if you need maximum performance.

1687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Future of GPU mining, what's your plan? on: March 26, 2023, 08:38:18 AM
It's somehow hopeless for gpu mining right now, if Ethereum never changed it's algorithm to PoS maybe this altcoin mining will still be attractive, but now I prefer buying my altcoins direct instead of mining them, I still have a few numbers of GPUs laying around but I've lost the will to turn the rig on and keep mining, very discouraged.
The ethash and ethcash algorithms are now difficult to mine on video cards due to high-performance ASICs.
1688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Competition between AMD and Nvidia on: March 26, 2023, 08:04:52 AM
Nvidia wanted to make more money selling GPUs for mining, so they came up with the LHR version.

Nvidia didn't make money from LHR. They made money but not from LHR. LHR was mostly a marketing gimmick
to please gamers by pissing off miners during a period of high demand and short supply. The side effect is it made
AMD GPUs more attractive to miners. AMD made money from LHR.

Nvidia used LHR restrictions to sell limited warranty versions of "mining edition" graphics cards to miners. There were no LHR restrictions also for the A0000 series. Mining edition video cards are very difficult to sell on the secondary market, so miners preferred to buy regular video cards with a 3-year warranty.
1689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good graphic cards? on: March 26, 2023, 07:52:46 AM
Are Nvidia CMP graphic cards good mining cards? I have a friend who want me to buy two of these card from him because he plans to leave the city and relocate, the CMP GPUs are the 90HX model, anyone still mining altcoins with this graphic cards? Especially the performance on kaspa is needed.
It is necessary to assess the condition of the video cards and the purchase price and the cost of your electricity are very important.
https://hashrate.no/gpus/cmp90
I am looking at buying only new video cards in order to mine them for at least 3 years. If you have ideas how to quickly pay for these video cards, then you can buy them. But it's easier to sell a regular video card.
1690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Competition between AMD and Nvidia on: March 25, 2023, 11:43:00 AM
AMD is a great company. They are the best at what they do and It is making CPU's. The computer I am using right now and my laptop have both AMD CPU's and they perform great. It is just, when it comes to buying a GPU, I prefer Nvidia over an AMD any day. Even at the same price range, if the Nvidia one performs worse than the AMD one, I will still go with the Nvidia GPU and it is because it simply has better support for everything out there.
I totaly agree with you on that and i have the same setup for my computer like an AMD CPU and Geforce GPU.
I switched to Nvidia in 2014 around and it was the best choice i ever done for GPU.
They Nivida cards are more user friendly in my opinion.

A love hate relationship with me. AMD has open source drivers and didn't screw miners with LHR, but CUDA is a better architecture
and the GPUs are faster more stable and trouble free. I started using Nvidia when I started mining with 750ti's in 2014.
Nvidia wanted to make more money selling GPUs for mining, so they came up with the LHR version. After the end of Ethereum mining, all locks were lifted. With the advent of the 1000 series, AMD began to lose in mining. I don't see any competition from AMD for the RTX 4070 graphics card.
1691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [FUN or not FUN] Diablo IV kills graphics cards on: March 25, 2023, 11:29:52 AM
Since the beginning of 2016 I have been mining. I've seen a lot of problematic AMD Radeon HD 7970 and AMD Radeon HD 7990 cards that overheated a lot, but they were re-mined, not broken. It is also very difficult to burn the power supply if it is of high quality, because it will turn off if it overheats.
But if the fan of the power supply is broken, then the transistors can explode.
It was an AMD GPU but i really cant remember what exactly card it was and yes my power supply was just an standart one.
After that misstake i got me i guess it was and 270x Vapor and a high quality poewer supply as this whole thing was a lesson for me.
That was the only GPU i killed and since then i dont play much around with overclocking and this things.

But its a shame for Nvidia that the GeForce RTX 3080 even cant handle some new game.
Video cards do not break from overclocking; even an experienced master cannot repeat such a trick. My power supplies burned, my sockets burned due to bad contacts, but the video cards remained working. Usually server power supplies burned video cards, and on standard PSUs this is possible, but very difficult.
1692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to calculate income from cryptocurrency? on: March 25, 2023, 11:20:27 AM
If I have card that mines with 57 MH/S /conflux/ how much can I earn for month ?

I want the way, not to ask here every time.

For now we don't talk for electricity and internet taxes.

Thanks
Find your video card in the list, set the electricity cost. By default, this value is 10 cents.
You will see the most profitable mining mode for your video card.
https://hashrate.no/gpus
Internet costs also need to be taken into account if you make an additional connection for mining farms.
If you have 1 graphics card in your computer, then you need to consider the power consumption of the entire PC. This value is usually 70-120 watts more.
1693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Drop your mining tactics on: March 24, 2023, 08:08:26 AM
1660 Super was a good card in the past, but i wouldn´t any of this cards today.

I would go with 3060 - 3070 and these are my mining pairs at the moment

etc+kas+zil -> trm, lol, gminer, rigel depends on the gpus
cfx+kas+zil -> gminer
kas+zil -> trm, lol, gminer, rigel depends on the gpus
ergo+kas+zil -> srbminer
flux+zil -> miniZ
dynex +(zil but lower hashrate on dynex) on zergpool and let me pay in btc (but some problems at the moment)
rxd +(zil or etc or both) -> rigel, bzminer, srbminer

ergo+zil on intel arc a750 and srbminer is also quite efficent

this is what i am mining at the moment.

Plans for the future -> buy more newer cards  Cheesy

Good post sxemini, can you share about the profits (with or without electricity) of your 3060 or 3070 mining 3 algos at the same time?

There's a post of sp_, here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5444861.msg61936844#msg61936844
About mining 4 algos at the same time, KASPA+ETC+ZIL+VTC, but with a P100-102

I'm curious to see how a 3070 performs with 3 or 4 algos

3060 and 3070 are good to keep temperature at good levels, I'll test with a 3080, but I expect to be hard to maintain vram temp under 90ºc

I really liked this news

Video cards RTX 4070 non-Ti and less powerful models RTX 4060 and RTX 4060Ti may be with 8 pin power connector. If they don't have overheating issues, then this would be a good buy option. But RTX 4060 and RTX 4060Ti may be on sale in Q3
1694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Competition between AMD and Nvidia on: March 24, 2023, 08:02:13 AM
Most of the buyers of video cards are miners. If the payback of this video card decreases to 1 year, then it will be in good demand in the market. And if we see a payback of 6 months in mining, then gamers will not be able to buy this video card in stores and will again scold the miners.
Correct me if I am wrong

But after ETH switched to Proof Of Stake we see GPU demand for miners is decreasing. Last Time I checked on https://whattomine.com/gpus NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Only Gives you a profit of around $0.6 per day with an electricity bill of 0.1 per KwH.

With the price of Gpu is $1,649.99 to BreakEven needs 2843 days
At a cost of 6 cents, the payback is already 1200 days. With an increase in the price of cryptocurrency by 6 times, the payback is again 200 days, which will cause an increase in the prices of video cards and massive purchases. The situation in mining is changing very quickly, so miners do not get rid of all video cards, they only sell old video cards.

A new solution for cloud mining, but NFT token will be sold instead of hashrate. This is the same, but inexperienced users will still buy.

1696  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can miners Manipulate network to benefit themselves on: March 24, 2023, 07:54:35 AM
I have seen empty blocks on the ethereum blockchain. It is possible in the Bitcoin blockchain that if the miners go on strike when 78% of the hashrate is on 5 large mining pools, then this will be real fun. For example, if mining is not profitable, then can large miners take such a step to fill blocks only with transactions with high commissions?

Mining does not kill graphics cards in 20 minutes Smiley
I dont know how long you are in mining or into crypto but back in the days around 2012 it was possible to burn a GPU with mining.
And yes of course , it was happend to me , i killed my GPU and burnt the power supply with it too in the first days and
weeks when i got into mining and havnt got any experience with the settings , cooling and all that stuff.

Since the beginning of 2016 I have been mining. I've seen a lot of problematic AMD Radeon HD 7970 and AMD Radeon HD 7990 cards that overheated a lot, but they were re-mined, not broken. It is also very difficult to burn the power supply if it is of high quality, because it will turn off if it overheats.

you've mining experience or you're mining expertise yet you're still losing coins. I don't even know what happen I have mined $1500 bitcoin on clouds waves and I saw airdrops links which I decided to involves myself, just two days later I couldn't understand what happen to my wallets. both my money and airdrops I do not see again.

Could this be some fun of scam?

RTX 3080 Ti GPUs Are Mysteriously Dying On Diablo IV Beta
Lilith's reaping RTX 3080 Ti souls.

Blizzard recently released a playable beta of Diablo IV. However, it appears that not everything is sunshine and rainbows in the Sanctuary, though. An alarming amount of user reports have emerged on Reddit(opens in new tab) and the Blizzard forums(opens in new tab), claiming that the beta is bricking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, one of the best graphics cards.

One Reddit user reported that his Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC 12G had perished after playing the game for only 20 minutes. According to the Redditor's recount, the cutscene in the chapel was the exact moment his GeForce RTX 3080 Ti went haywire. It didn't take long before other affected users started to pitch in. Another user(opens in new tab) claims the cutscene also bricked his Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC 12G. However, users have also experienced crashes during normal gameplay too.

The best news about RTX 4070 graphics cards

The Inno3D RTX 4070 non-Ti graphics card will indeed have an 8-pin power connector. This is a confirmation of a 1-day-old rumor that some RTX 4070 cards may appear without the new 16-pin (12VHPWR connector). The packaging that was pictured and shared on Chinese social platform clearly mentions the standard 8-pin connector for this card.

Given what we know about the RTX 4070 SKU, this would be the cheaper variant, most likely to be sold near the MSRP (NVIDIA suggested retail price), which is not known yet. It is also one of the first RTX 4070 cards that we know to feature a dual fan cooling solution.
