If you like mining, then it’s better to take up a classic miner and buy equipment.
Any programs that you download onto your phone can then be dangerous for your cryptocurrency wallets on your phone or banking applications. Don't learn telephone mining using your main phone at least.
722  Bitcoin / Press / [2023-11-03] Argentina Presidential Hopeful Wants to Mine Bitcoin From 'Dead Cow on: November 03, 2023, 02:20:51 PM
A proposal by Argentine presidential candidate Sergio Massa to use excess natural gas from the Vaca Muerta oil fields to mine Bitcoin has generated controversy in the country's cryptocurrency community.

Vaca Muerta, which translates to "dead cow," got its name in the 19th century when fossilized remains of megafauna—think giant ground sloths and glyptodonts—were found in the Vaca Muerta formation. The abundance of these fossils led early geologists to nickname the area "Vaca Muerta" or Dead Cow. The name stuck and became official after large petroleum reserves were discovered in the Vaca Muerta shale rock in the late 20th century.

The idea was presented to Massa last week by computer scientist Santiago Siri. It involves utilizing surplus gas from Vaca Muerta, a major shale oil and gas deposit in western Argentina, to power bitcoin mining operations. Supporters say it would allow the gas to be put to productive use rather than being flared or vented.

723  Bitcoin / Mining / Landfill methane to mine Bitcoin on: November 03, 2023, 02:17:53 PM
Marathon Digital will use landfill methane to mine Bitcoin in Utah pilot project
The BTC miner has partnered with startup Nodal Power for a green, off-grid project that is a small start for a potentially big advancement.
Marathon Digital has begun mining Bitcoin  using power generated from methane gas siphoned off a landfill. The 280-kW off-grid pilot project is operating in Utah.

Marathon teamed up with Nodal Power on the project. Nodal Power was launched in November 2022 and produces energy from landfill gas in the southeastern United States and Texas. It raised $13 million in a seed round in August to operate two sites, one of which includes a data center.

Is this a working technology or is it a reason to get permission to mine under the pretext of doing useful work by burning methane?
724  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Block's new Mining Development Kit (MDK) Hashboard on: November 03, 2023, 02:13:14 PM
I'm also waiting for the characteristics of the new chips. If these chips are at the level of S19 series chips, then this product will not be competitive in the market. It takes a lot of money to develop something new.
If you need to heat water, you can buy ASIC S19 series cheaply, which after halving will not be very profitable.
725  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Start now or later? on: November 03, 2023, 02:01:55 PM
One of the Russian miners calculated that the payback of Bitmain ASIC s19 series  after halving will be from 80 to 300 months, provided that the cost of electricity is 5 cents and the price of Bitcoin is $35,000.
https://t.me/Info4atlanin/9287
At 4 cents for electricity, you won't be in a better situation.
726  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Pool distribution monthly reports on: November 02, 2023, 06:03:35 PM
4 large pools have 80% hashrate, 5 large pools have 87.7% hashrate
According to the news, Russia ranks 2nd in mining, but where do Russian miners mine?
They probably choose Chinese mining pools Smiley
If a law on mining appears in Russia, then perhaps we will see changes in this schedule.

PCIe X1 interface, I like it because it can be used on motherboards for mining farms with replacement video cards.
Production in Norway and the USA I don’t think will be the cheapest and I’m not even sure about Norway.
If deliveries begin in Q3-4 2024, then we should see test models in Q2 2024.

Production in Norway/USA is just assembling the boards. I'm more concerned about the chips they will use.
I doubt they design their own so what will they be using and who will get them first?

With PCIe ASIC hash boards we can talk about mixing ASICS with GPU, not just different brands of GPUs.
It could also revive the mining mobo market, a rig with 18 ASIC boards would be pretty sweet.

I think the form factor is their biggest potential advantage. I don't lnow about licensing fees for PCIe but
using it would cut costs by eliminating the need for peripherals like a controller, chassis or case.

In my opinion, this is not about saving on controllers for boards and reducing the cost of the product, but about expanding the sales funnel of your own product. If it is an ASIC with a consumption of several kilowatts, then enthusiasts will refuse to buy, but any miner can buy a board with a consumption of 145 watts.
728  Local / Майнеры / Китайский графический процессор MTT S80 on: November 02, 2023, 05:48:40 PM

Aptos And Top Players In November’s Token Release
Token unlocks are events where previously locked tokens become available for trading, often increasing a project’s circulating supply. These events are critical moments for projects, as they can signal maturation and a new phase of market dynamics.

Aptos, a Layer 1 blockchain created by former Meta executives, is expected to have the most significant token unlock by value, releasing 24.8 million APT tokens, currently representing about $165.6 million at today’s price.

Aptos’s upcoming unlock on November 12 is not just substantial in value but also notable for its distribution, with core contributors, investors, the community, and the Aptos Foundation all set to receive portions of the release.

I started having an interest in mining some years back but that's for Ethereum mining and now that I am ready Ethereum is no longer a proof of work coin, so I have only bitcoin left, I want to know if it is still possible to start mining Bitcoin for someone like myself? I have some challenges blocking my way.

1. I heard that Asic miners like s19 are not capable anymore, not very profitable I meant, buying such right now won't bring better profit after the halving and even in a bull market.

2. I was told that to stay ahead of the game when others will be probably selling their s19 it's better to go for the best top asic miners, which Asic miner is the number 1 now?

3. For someone from a country with unstable grid power can we still mine Bitcoin and still be in profit?

My last question,  is this the right time to buy Asic miner or when the bull market beginnings? Which way will you prefer and why?
If you have cheap electricity below 2 cents, then it is profitable for you to buy used S19 ASICs at a good discount and continue mining. What is unstable grid power?
If your power goes out every day or the voltage in the network is unstable, then you can burn out the ASICs.

THE FUTURE OF SCRYPT MINING
Lokotech Scrypt ASIC ~0.0726 J/MH
Hashrate 1.9968 GH/s @ 145W +/- 10%
Unparalleled efficiency on a GPU style hashblade that retrofits into existing hardware by connecting directly into a PCIe X1 slot. Cooled by either air or immersion.

This could be a scam

But this FPGA has very good characteristics and they outperform ASICs in energy efficiency.

Don't buy until you see reviews and make sure the supplier is honest!

Different types of layer 2s
The Ethereum layer 2 ecosystem has been expanding rapidly over the last year. The EVM rollup ecosystem, traditionally featuring Arbitrum, Optimism and Scroll, and more recently Kakarot and Taiko, has been progressing quickly, making great strides on improving their security; the L2beat page does a good job of summarizing the state of each project. Additionally, we have seen teams building sidechains also starting to build rollups (Polygon), layer 1 projects seeking to move toward being validiums (Celo), and totally new efforts (Linea, Zeth...). Finally, there is the not-just-EVM ecosystem: "almost-EVMs" like Zksync, extensions like Arbitrum Stylus, and broader efforts like the Starknet ecosystem, Fuel and others.

735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia to make Arm-based PC chips in major new challenge to Intel on: November 01, 2023, 01:29:23 PM
With all the money Nvidia just raised through the artificial intelligence hype, I imagine they’ll have to expand their business in every way possible in order to try and bring in enough revenue to satisfy investors. This will no doubt result in a lot of wasted money, which is why I think that AMD makes a better investment currently.
Chinese companies have already released their own video card

But all of Nvidia’s competitors are losing in developments for artificial intelligence, so I think that the green company will increase its leadership in this direction.

New competitor Smiley
Chinese MTT S80 PCIe 5.0 GPU Closes in on GTX 1650
New driver optimizations have enabled Chinese vendor Moore Threads' MTT S80 gaming graphics card to rival Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1650 at 4K gaming. There may be some untapped performance, so don't be surprised if the MTT S80 eventually becomes a contender for the best graphics cards.

Armed with 4,096 MUSA (Moore Threads Unified System Architecture) cores with a 1.8 GHz boost clock, the MTT S80 is a PCIe 5.0 graphics card that pumps 14.4 TFLOPs of FP32 performance—the 7nm graphics card sports also sports 128 Tensor cores and 16GB of 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory. With access to a 256-bit memory interface, the MTT S80, which has a 255W TDP, delivers a memory bandwidth of up to 448 GB/s. The specifications look very decent on paper, minus the high TDP. However, the driver is what's hindering MTT S80's performance. The MTT S80 reportedly leverages the Chunxiao silicon, based on the PowerVR architecture developed by Imagination Technologies. The exact generation of the PowerVR GPU remains a mystery. Nonetheless, there's a lot of optimization work to get the graphics card to play nice with DirectX 11 titles.

NVIDIA RTX 4090 exports to China to be banned after all
Several reports confirm that the U.S. export restriction on the leading RTX 4090 graphics processing unit is set to be implemented on the scheduled date of November 17th.
In a new SEC filing, NVIDIA confirmed that new export licensing restrictions have been implemented for their high-end data-center products, which prohibit the shipment of these products to certain countries, including China. Notably, while the initial October 17 SEC filing mentioned the RTX 4090 GPU, a subsequent filing on the matter omitted any reference to this card. This has generated a fair amount of speculation and reports (our included) suggesting that the RTX 4090 may potentially be excluded from the restricted list. That is not the case.

Radeon RX 7900 GRE now available on the European DIY market, no gaming PC purchase necessary
Interestingly, in Spain and Romania, the Sapphire RX 7900 GRE card is now available as a separate purchase, eliminating the need to buy an entire gaming PC. These cards are priced at 719.90 EUR, which is at least 120 EUR less expensive than the RX 7900 XT in Europe (according to price comparison tool Geizhals) and 170 EUR cheaper than the RX 7900 XT PULSE from the same store.

Radeon RX 7000 (Lowest EU Price):

Radeon RX 7900 XT: €835
Radeon RX 7900 GRE: €672
Radeon RX 7800 XT:  €544
As previously mentioned, the RX 7900 GRE comes equipped with 33% more cores compared to the 7800 XT, while maintaining the same 16GB memory capacity. With the newly reduced price, it now appears to be only 24% more expensive, making it a compelling option to contemplate.

Can we tweak or convert ANTMINER S9 14Th/s To Do mining in other algorithm like Litecoin or Monero?

Thanks
Theoretically, this can be done, but the hashrate will be very small and the consumption will be very high, due to the fact that the chips in this ASIC are made for mining a specific SHA256 algorithm. So you can use this ASIC for any coins with the SHA256 algorithm. This is the main problem with ASICs, as opposed to video cards.
