1681  Economy / Economics / Re: Wind Power Has A Profitability Problem on: May 04, 2023, 10:41:52 PM
AFAIK, there's always a big budget needed for these renewable energy and if it's with wind energy. This scaling is entirely different from the typical that everyone knows which is the solar power and that's more preferred by many than of wind. But then, we're all for the renewable energy and anyway of acquiring them. It's best for them to be placed on the right places where it should be used and if these giant companies are complaining about their profitability, they have to reassess if they're still working on these days because there are some other sources that people do prefer and location is the key pertaining to wind energy.
1682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a more pronounced and researched Cryptocurrency. on: May 04, 2023, 09:44:21 PM
And when you're going to ask someone who's not yet in Crypto and probably heard of it, the first answer is going to be Bitcoin. It's like Crypto = Bitcoin and not a various set of altcoins.

this informations has change the mind set of many to believe that Bitcoin has come to stay as the currency of the future and have to be accepted despite not being a legal tender.

Always bitcoin.
It is here to stay but to think of it as the currency of the future, we're not yet set with that or probably have accepted that fact that it's just going to be the same alternative just as what others are thinking. But it's true that it will be accepted no matter what and it doesn't have to be a legal tender for it to get accepted. As long as the state doesn't have a thing or two to say about it and no law will stop its usage, that's more than enough.
1683  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What d fxxk...my money is hooked mehn on: May 04, 2023, 08:30:48 PM
It sucks to see the network is congested again and this is also happening in many alts like ETH which is still having a high gwei for its transactions.

Bitcoin transaction fees, even post-Ordinals, are nowhere near as stupefying as various types of ETH gas fees, which in turn give me ATM fee vibes.
Yeah, it's not that near as those but when you're looking for some alternatives you've got no option but to just choose where you want to transact and just set the fee that's likely going to be confirmed. I just choose somewhere between from low priority to medium priority when I'm not in a hurry.
Anyway, the mempool seems to be a bit of breathing now.
1684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What d fxxk...my money is hooked mehn on: May 04, 2023, 01:16:00 PM
Since yesterday up to this point, think of your transactions before doing it. If you're impatient then you have to shoulder the fee and set it up to the high priorty fee which currently is @ 137 sats/vbyte. You'll have to accept that if you're not willing to pay such fee at these moments, you just set it in low to no priority and just be patient until it gets confirmed. It sucks to see the network is congested again and this is also happening in many alts like ETH which is still having a high gwei for its transactions. Plan ahead your transactions so you won't be annoyed or pissed of waiting but has to pay the highest priority fee for it to be confirmed. A technique that you can do is to pay for 10 sats per byte and get some confirmation help through viabtc's accelerator.
1685  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What do you actaully consider KYC in terms of information that has to be given on: May 04, 2023, 10:34:24 AM
I have the same thoughts as you Dave about phone numbers and emails, they're not a big thing to me. Someone can just dump his phone number and get a new one unless if the country has these numbers registered and you can't do anything to change that or even if you get a new one, the older one is still registered under your one. For some, that's a big deal already if it's registered to their network.
Asking for my personal address is a big matter, you'll never know who's behind that monitor and sees these info and sends it over someone even if there's a disclosure on their duty that no data shall be sent or leaked to anyone. We just can't be sure with these. However, I think that we're foreseeing that these set of series of KYCs will be going in the future and it's inevitable.
1686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The purchase Bitcoin during its early stages. on: May 03, 2023, 11:42:28 PM
Nothing as we're all have common thought about it and it's the potential that it bears for the future. And aside from that, your belief/trust on it.
Many just took the risk and believed that there will be something worth the share right after knowing Bitcoin and we've got common interest on it, not just about the tech but most likely many have thought about it upon knowing Bitcoin and also the profitability that it bears because of its attribute of being volatile. Everyone saw that and probably our eyes and mind have met in the middle of it after doing some couple of research.
1687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The fear of losing bitcoin... on: May 03, 2023, 07:19:29 PM
why can't people know what you're engaging into first before diving into it and start acting like a child.
It's because of emotion and FOMO. That's why if you're going to ask that friend of yours, he probably bought bitcoin because he's seen it during the all time high. He didn't make enough research about it and went directly on the search engines and typed "how to buy bitcoin".
Other than that, he did actually a research of how to buy but not with the characteristics of bitcoin and its nature as a volatile asset. We will always have that type of person that will be worried asking if bitcoin's already dead or if there's still a chance for bitcoin to recover. We do get a lot of that everytime the market don't look good.
1688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving effects, how long they will last? on: May 03, 2023, 05:21:06 PM
Every 4 years, we expect bull market just because of halving. What do you think when is this chain is going to broken? Ie, halving no longer equals that bull market is coming.
Good question as cycles have been different from the expectations that we've seen when they went in bull run, we haven't expected those tremendous gains that it had shown.

The market is just not sustainable if thewil be a bull market for over a year.
It has been sustainable. If it's not sustainable even for the next year then we've seen it drop already under $10k just after the 2021 bull run but it didn't.

The number of BTC in circulation in the market gets lessers and lesser and people sell at the ATH.
And that's the factor that everyone has to consider, BTC supply will never increase and is fixed to 21M while miners are getting lesser bitcoin as reward. It becomes scarce = price increase.
1689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - what is your plan when we reach $100k? on: May 03, 2023, 03:04:11 PM
I do not have much Bitcoin currently but I am planning to convert a lot of the profits I make in my altcoins during the bull run into BTC which I will then hold till the 2028/29 bull run.

I expect Bitcoin to reach at least $100k at the peak of the next bull run, possibly $150k.

Just wondering what we are all planning to do when Bitcoin does reach $100k - are you selling or are you holding till the 2028/29 bull run?
It's unknown and we'll know what we'll exactly do when we're already there. But for now, I guess my plans are just to take some profits and buy some other decent investments to expand my assets and portfolio. Yeah, no extravagant things but more on keeping my wealth through expanded investments so that it will generate me more passive income. That's what I'm planning to do but I don't know if I'll follow that rightaway whenever we see bitcoin goes $100k and even more. All are talk until we take actions and the do the right thing to do with our profits. But for sure, many are going to take on vacation and buy those fancy things that they've been dreaming of and that's totally fine.
1690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 02, 2023, 11:33:27 PM
That's the reality now that we won't be seeing them in the finals because they'll have to face each other and one is going to be eliminated. Either Steph's crew or Lebron's team. Just after we saw Warriors won against the Kings, everyone would have thought that it's gonna be the head of their journey and Kings dominance will be proclaimed but then, they're still the defending champs and have been through a lot. Now, both teams have been through a lot and one of them have to move to the next stage closer to the finals. The predictions are now in and this is gonna be like up to game 7.

Both have interesting stories this season, Lakers started 2-10 if I'm not mistaken, and there are a lot of drama last last year being carried over, specially the case of Russell Westbrook. But before the trade line, they overhaul their roster, get rid of Westbrook, in exchange of a lot of role players and they started to make a run post season. Then AD becoming healthy, then eliminated the young Memphis the second seed.

For the Warriors the same, ended up 6th seed and many analyst are writing them off. Bad road team, drama between Poole and Green at the start and even prior to the last game, we can see some frustrations, there were reports that Poole and Kuminga are not happy with the minutes they are getting this playoff. But Steph wouldn't let this one slip away, not from the young Kings. Now another storied match up between him and Lebron are going to be written again this playoff series.
Yes, too many things have happened with the Lakers and it wasn't expected that they're going to be this far because of how they started the season terribly. These dramas that has happened for both teams were now forgotten and everyone is just looking forward for their upcoming match within the next few hours. And we should give Embiid around of applause for winning the MVP award this 2022-2023 season.

1691  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Your thoughts on crypto exhcnages. on: May 02, 2023, 09:42:14 PM
I think the best way is to use the exchange to buy crypto or like a P2P platform, but hold all crypto on the wallet, preferably a cold one.
It is but conveniently it is with those typical exchanges that are centralized that we know of. And then, there's the surprising news about the known P2P markets that have announced their closure. Like LBC and paxful, they're the known centralized p2p but then once upon a time, they were one of the best without having the need of kyc. There are still some handful p2p markets that's operating that don't ask for kyc but the known centralized exchanges like Binance are also trying to dominate this market that has been once for decentralization but then with them joining the competition, it's inevitable that most traders that do like p2p will come to them.
1692  Economy / Economics / Re: Effects of Crypto and Bitcoin on the Economy on: May 02, 2023, 08:16:37 PM
There's no doubt that the impact of Bitcoin and other cryptos in one's economy has been really big. We can just start out with the start of the pandemic and people who have thought that Bitcoin has saved them by that time because they've held it and then as jobs were halted at those times, they've used their holdings for it. It's true that saving = holding and this is what having bitcoin has taught us. We're spenders before and ignorant of how important is to save but then when we started owning bitcoin, we've learned it from the crowd that we should hold as well just as them.
1693  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake Ledger pre-IPO on: May 02, 2023, 12:16:18 PM
Thanks for informing us, I don't think someone who has bought a hardware wallet would be lazy and try to participate in such a scam instead of visiting the official website or contacting the support team.
We will never know, those that have bought hardware wallet from them can not be aware of such scam tactic. Like they've just bought it once and they never get any updates from them or they don't initiate to check what's with them. Because not everyone who owns a Ledger wallet are technically in-depth with these phishing and scam schemes.

Contact the support team with the link if that fake page link, they are a company and may be able to communicate with Facebook and close that page quickly instead of individual reports.
Yes, I've actually reported it already and Ledger's chat support responded to me as seen on this image below:

Yeah, there is surely no Ledger IPO, otherwise they would have advertised that all over the place. We all know that Ledger spends loads of money on marketing and advertisement, and this is not something you would have missed if it existed.
That's true and I think these scammers will never stop as Ledger is a big company and not just them will be targeted by these scammers. They might make endless fake pre IPO schemes and from Ledger, they'll just go with another known crypto company and awareness is really important into this matter.
1694  Economy / Scam Accusations / Fake Ledger pre-IPO on: May 02, 2023, 09:28:03 AM
I saw this fake Ledger Pre-IPO on Facebook. We're all aware that Ledger don't have this but for the sake of those that might end up seeing this type of ad from a fake claimant and page. The name of the page is Mmprotrust and they've got 10 followers only and there's no engagement yet on that page but I guess that there will be a few people that might be victimized by this fraud, still hopeful that it will be zero.

Everyone please remember that Ledger official is warning people to take note of these scam and phishing websites. They've always reminded to be careful of such. I've checked Ledger's official website and there's no such as pre IPO by them. The link that was attached on that ad and it was just to send them a message and no website. I can't see the ad on their page but this has appeared on my wall as sponsored ad and took a quick screenshot. And please, don't join any fishy white listing. I'm doing my action of reporting this.

Please also be mindful about Ledger's campaign against these fraudsters.

1696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ledger Order Help on: May 01, 2023, 10:18:13 PM
What matters to these companies are your order, name/address and payment. That's it, emails are just for the purpose of putting the slip and sending it back to you so, whether you use old or new email, that don't really matter all.

Thanks.

Anyone here know if they ship to the US with fedex as well?  Surprised they had that showing as i thought only dhl?  When they start fedex to the us?  Also signature required?
I'm not from there but if you're from the US, just check their authorized resellers there so that you won't have any problem with shipping. They've got 7 resellers and that includes Target and Walmart based on their website: https://www.ledger.com/reseller
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 01, 2023, 08:38:39 PM
Lakers versus GSW will be so much fun.
Definitely, people will have it think that it's like the actual finals but no.
If we cannot see them both playing in the finals, then this could be the best one so far.
It's good for GSW to take the last spot and I thought they will lose the game since its not their home court, well Steph proves to be one of the best. Now going to the Semis, GSW should prepare more because for sure Lakers is more eager to win here after losing many conference already.
1698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't regular flash drives store Bitcoin on: May 01, 2023, 07:25:43 PM
I think that you get the idea from the hardware wallets are like USB drives. Actually, you don't think a USB drive for you to store your bitcoin, what you need are the private keys or the seeds that you need to save in text form and that's it, you're all good.
So, you can actually store your text file into a USB/flash drive but I don't recommend that as files are likely not safe if you'll store it into that.
Since you've got access to a PC, just install Electrum and keep the seeds for that wallet of yours and never show it to anyone and store your written seeds on a very safe place where you can only access it or you're the only one that knows that it's your seeds.
1699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 30, 2023, 11:43:10 PM
Take note that they also have Thompson and Poole who can just erupt anytime of the game. Now the Warriors have the homecourt advantage, but it's the Lakers. It hasn't been started, and yet I'm thinking of some good player match-ups already. Looney Vs. AD, Green Vs. Lebron. Curry Vs. Huh.
It's like the rival teams are going to have themselves in the semis and that's no good for both of them. Well, on the other hand only one shall proceed to the conference finals and then the NBA actual finals. Both teams have vamped roster and they're all going in to this game 1.
While the others are already started their series, this is gonna be one of the most talked but since there are few matches left altogether. It's not that hard to monitor and watch all of these games.

Lakers versus GSW will be so much fun.
Definitely, people will have it think that it's like the actual finals but no.

I've read this article: The Ultimate Guide to Ireland Cryptocurrency Taxes in 2022
And that means that crypto there is totally fine in Ireland and you can use that reference to know if it fits your expectation or not there.
While on this article: Crypto Travel Rule in The NetherlandsbyDe Nederlandsche Bank (DNB)
It's said that crypto there isn't banned but they don't consider it as digital money, so from these articles as basis it can be said that both countries are good with crypto.
