Another possible compromise: make Side Chains an extension of Colored Coins. Instead of moving large blocks of bitcoins into the Side Chain, use the counterparty leverage of Colored Coins as the Side Chain peg. They won't be pegged to bitcoins, but they will add a layer to colored coins.
1722  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: November 21, 2014, 02:11:18 AM
A very good case against the viability of Side Chains and unveiling ideological ulterior motives that undermine the fundamental incentives of Bitcoin.

Sidechains bad?
Only in their execution. I still think their is a reasonable compromise that enhances Bitcoin, like a remora to a shark.

Many people are skeptical. They remind us of altcoins I guess. But if it is a decentralized way to achieve micropayments, for example, seems legit enough
Of course, but the method Blockstream is proposing is too destructive. It's like ebola.

Yes, as we're about to celebrate Thanksgiving, maybe you throw a toast or at the very least, a thought and prayer his way.  Grin
Does buying a turkey count?

Everyone should click ignore on Walsoraj along with NotLambChop 2 of the biggest trolls on this forum.

One of them is a scammer telling lies and the other just annoying. I now have them both ignored. In fact, today was in my top ten for adding trolls to my ignore list.
1727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 20, 2014, 05:44:43 PM
This RIPPLE thing sounds pretty interesting, could somebody please tell me something about it! Thanks

White papers here: https://forum.ripple.com/viewtopic.php?t=4301

Bitcoin = AOL. Ripple = the internet. The smart money is currently moving into Ripple.
How? Ripple Labs doesn't sell stock shares.
1728  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Next rally's ATH on: November 20, 2014, 05:37:26 PM
1. Soon major technology companies may announce Bitcoin mining divisions that can meet the demands of the markets.
2. Then I would guess closer to 10k, but of course it will correct between 3-6k (rule of thirds) before becoming publicly traded by licensed brokers on Wall Street.
3. Then it will grow at the rate of adoption and less on speculation.

 Grin

This post makes no fucking sense in such a beatiful gradual fashion, it made me LOL so hard!
Does anything in this thread make sense? This thread is simply wild speculation. Was mine the only post that made you laugh? This thread is a troll firebase. Most of the posts I couldn't see, but I did find some trolls to add to my ignore list here.
1729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Idea for ASiC resistance on: November 20, 2014, 05:28:31 PM
The ASIC debate reminds me of the CISC vs. RISC CPUs. It basically depends on the external architectures built around them and whether or not they are open or closed. In the end the consensus is likely to be a simplified processor that trades functionality for speed. Speed and an open architecture wins.

I am so tired of the pissing contest over side chains. Where is the creativity and innovation? There is enough politicking in the real world, we don't need ego tantrums in academic discussions.

There are a lot of bitcoin tutorial resources available. I recommend the Youtube videos called "Bitcoin 101"

blah blah broken clock, twice a day blah blah

I don't know how anyone can make that comparison, given that bitcoin has been on a steady decline for a full year now. Sure there are various false recoveries along the way (just like last week) but if you zoom out to the weekly chart, you'll see it's been a pretty clear pattern.

Mr. Falllling has been calling it along the entire way. And anyone who followed the advice of the bullish posters on this sub forum (the majority) have lost a lot of money this year. Sure, there's got to be some elite (lucky) trader out there who timed the false rallies perfectly and made a little, but they're few and far between.

Guys, it's time to swallow our pride and admit he was right.

Take a look at the 6 month chart volume. It is much higher in the latter months. There is much indecision at these price levels and volatility is increasing. It's starting to look like the water is coming to a boil. If the price is kept down, it will blow the lid right off the kettle.

Bullmarket off  Huh

 Cry

Yes. In case you didn't notice, it's been off for 11 months now.
Not if you just woke from a 13 month coma.  Grin
1734  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: November 20, 2014, 04:35:19 PM
I wonder if there isn't some kind of compromise possible. I really try to think of Bitcoin as an ecosystem and alternate currencies as parasites, predators, and food. Here's a thought. First create a Proof of Burn independent altcoin. You will need Bitcoin investors to back the asset. Then after a period of time elapses it is able to be converted to a Side Chain after which the currency can be swapped for new bitcoins only every so many arbitrary Bitcoin blocks. This way they kind of have to stand on their own and can't bleed Bitcoin too much.
1735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do We Owe Falllling an Apology? on: November 20, 2014, 04:07:22 PM
The market is bled out. Now money is ignoring the market and focusing on development. Commerce will be the market, not Mt Gox clones.

Etched?

Carved with the edge of a 1/4" roughing gouge and a skew chisel.
I can't even imagine the attention you need to give to hand carving such a large and expensive piece of hardwood with that kind of precision.
