1741  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need help with BNB on Metamask on: February 09, 2023, 01:54:40 PM
All centralized exchanges where they got listed are not really the best when it comes to liquidity and security. It is probably as risky as using an instant swap marketplace where you can swap some altcoin to BNB. While the amount you seek is not that big, some platforms might flag you with KYC. I'd argue that you should put them as your last option if you can't find any other choices.

If you still want to go with P2P, I suggest posting on the currency exchange board[1] with the necessary details such as what payment you want to go, etc (if you don't have BTC and don't want to use BTC, then post it on Marketplace in the altcoins section). I don't think a credit/debit card is preferred since you can use a chargeback which is risky for sellers[2], CMIIW.

1742  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can this forum be targetted? on: February 08, 2023, 03:36:03 PM
Other than blocking access to Bitcointalk, I don't see any other way a government would target us. Mods and admin are just like any other admin & mod on other forums, would be weird if they started judging them as criminal just because they manage a bitcoin-focused forum. As others have mentioned, they'd better off looking for a Twitter scammer instead.

Controlling exchanges is also a better choice if they want to control crypto. Not to mention it is definitely more profitable that way. They can just lay some regulations, get some taxes when somebody trades, fine them when they report their tax wrong, and so on. It is definitely more effective and profitable compared to blocking some websites that can get bypassed easily with VPN, DNS encryption, and so on.
1743  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal hardware wallet review and opinions on: February 08, 2023, 02:40:01 PM
But in reality, I very rarely use the wallet. I mostly open the Safepal mobile application.
Hardware wallets are only used for assets that I hold for the long term.
That sucks, but not surprising since some users already stated that the battery quality is terrible. I guess you should not use this device if you plan to store crypto for the long term. I don't think you need to buy another battery-powered HW for that purpose anyway. Use an air-gapped device or buy an HW powered by USB if you want to.

Even though updating the firmware doesn't help much, at least the developers provide updates or performance improvements that are better than just focusing on adding networks.
Does this mean you already test the firmware and don't see any improvement in performance? You can probably submit this feedback to their support or post it on their social media.

In order not to damage the front panel that uses glass, you need to be careful and make sure the blower is at a hot temperature to make it easier to open it.
This is the same as replacing a smartphone back cover that uses glass.
Have you tried it on your own? If you managed to do it, posting a guide or video might be helpful for others who want to do the same thing. Otherwise, I'd recommend buying another wallet or building your own HW if the device is still usable but the battery died, and you want to have some portability for someone who has no experience in doing something like this.
1744  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin freelance ecosystem development for fractions of Bitcoin - Bounties site on: February 08, 2023, 12:52:04 PM
Just to check, am I on the right website[1]?
Code:
[1] https://laborx.com/jobs
Yes, that's what I'm referring to. There are many websites like this, but as I mentioned above I never try so I can't comment further on their reliability. Most of the time the jobs are not limited to crypto development, but you'll have to compete with a lot of users since the barrier to entry is really low. It's similar to bounties on this forum, just on a different platform with more kinds of tasks.

Things that affect such sites is less publicity. If they worked on the site's SEO it'll get to developers and brands that needs the help of developers. But, if the site continues gradually given time depending on the quality it provides would boom.
I don't know why they don't add other kinds of jobs though, that is probably one of the reasons why it is not popular. SEO might help but if all of the tasks are limited to developing/code, I'm not surprised if it is not that popular. That being said, it is completely fine if a project just wants to list development-related bounties imo.
1745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do small e-commerce businesses are scared of accepting crypto payments? on: February 08, 2023, 12:40:32 PM
My experience is quite different from yours. I've seen many small businesses merchant asking which payment processor to use if they want to accept BTC, how to set up their payment processor on their own, and so on. Instead of looking scared, I think they are eager to accept crypto as their payment option. Most of the time the issue is about selecting a payment processor that accepts multiple cryptos, not only Bitcoin. I don't think they are afraid of crypto if they are asking for a solution on crypto payment processor integration.

Other than regulatory reasons, I don't see any real reason why they would be afraid to integrate crypto into their service. Volatility is easily solvable by liquidating their crypto to fiat directly after a buyer makes a purchase. Even BTCPay support that with its plugin. Setting up the process might take a while but it is more like an annoyance instead of a fear factor IMO. If you find them being afraid of volatility, you can tell them that. Not to mention accepting crypto doesn't mean ditching your fiat channel directly. They can use both and buyers have more options, so I'd say that is a win.
1746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Intel enters desktop dGPU market on: February 07, 2023, 03:49:32 PM
Intel says Game On, Arc A750 GPU is now cheaper
Intel announced a price cut on their mid-range GPU to tackle GeForce RTX 3060
https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-drops-the-price-of-arc-a750-gpu-to-just-249-new-driver-gets-performance-improvements
The price cut is around $30 if I read it correctly. Around 10% if we compare it to the previous price. Some reviewers said the card is competitive if you accept that you have to deal with driver issues here and there for gaming, don't know how it will compare to mining though. Not to mention AMD card at around the same price can give better performance in most scenarios. It is quite smart for them to compare to 3060 since the card is still a bit pricey in most region, including mine.
1747  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why you must not use a crypto wallet on a bootloader-unlocked phone on: February 07, 2023, 02:49:37 PM
It's quite dangerous if the bootloader lock is unlocked. Some malware will enter easily when there are no security-protecting system files on Android.
It's been so long that I don't recall how to unlock my bootloader and flash a custom ROM on my phone, but I don't recall hearing of any malware that uses an unlocked bootloader to attack its users. Can you share some links about it? The latest malware news usually mentions installing fake apps, so it's more like phishing attacks instead of malware attacks, and I doubt most of them are done on an unlocked phone or custom ROM.

Some vulnerabilities in the news are related to accessing some sensitive storage that is crucial for the firmware/phone to run correctly[1], and it requires some effort. If it was successfully exploited though, I can see installing a malicious system or app is way easier than ever. Some malware doesn't even need an unlocked bootloader to continuously infect a phone according to this research[2]. Luckily it is mostly older phones/system that is vulnerable to those attacks, but there is no harm in being cautious of similar attack vectors. CMIIW.

I'm still seeing Go Keyboard on Google Playstore, is this a different app or Google is just too lazy to remove them if the report is credible? I also believe that these keylogging activities are possible even if your phone bootloader is still locked.

1748  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Warning: Icechain.ch not delivering at all on promises. on: February 07, 2023, 02:17:36 PM
ICO not delivering is nothing new, unfortunately. Are they on this forum? If they do, I suggest posting this on the Scam Accusations board and posting all details related to your case there. If they are not here, then I don't think you can do much by posting here. Maybe post more about it on other social media such as Reddit, since they have a bigger audience. You can also post a comment on their block explorer page so other people can find it easily. You need a Disqus account to do it though.

As far as Telegram banning goes, a lot of projects do that nowadays with the basis of "banning people because they spread FUD", I doubt you'll get anything by confronting them there. About the team profile, are you sure that is real? Some scammers use fake profiles and delete them later when their scam is a success. If they are real though, at least you get some proof if this escalated further.
1749  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Asset on: February 07, 2023, 02:00:13 PM
The mining have a permission to enter every country as a country like Sudan we don't have like Paypal , and other and the Government have responsibility of any enter money and that will be a problem
Honestly, I find it difficult to know what exactly are you looking for. If you're looking to pump BTC price, increasing the numbers of miners sounds good but they can easily quit if they don't find it profitable (even BTC price is sky high). And yes, everyone can mine regardless of where they live, and most of them don't need PayPal or something like that to receive the rewards. If you can't sell them, then store them and hold them for months or years. Not really an ideal choice if you want to get profits but better than trading it with shitcoin I guess.

If you're talking about fiat conversion, if you live in a country where there is no fiat exchange, you can try P2P or sell your coins on the forum. If you're worried about the government blocking your money because it is related to mining or crypto, I guess your choice is limited to P2P trade with a privacy-focused platform. Another alternative would be moving away, but that is rather difficult for most people. That being said, I think most governments (around my region at least) don't consider trading crypto as a crime, at most you are not allowed to pay stuff with crypto.
1750  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance tax has been launched? on: February 07, 2023, 01:35:56 PM
Is there an improvement over the previous version, or will this be a more specific tax return file following the official format for each country? Binance web isb't accessible in normal mode in my country.
From what I understand, this new tool is improved and has more features. The previous one is just an API that you can use to export transactions, while the new one offers a calculation tool and probably better integration with other platforms. Since they mention availability in France as the first step, I guess the new platform is integrated with the government's latest rules regarding crypto tax for each region.

How will Binance determine the kind of job one does to earn crypto in order to know that if it's a type of job that would pay tax or not.
I don't think what job the trader has is related in any way to crypto taxation. I believe in most countries would still tax you even if you're jobless but you trade crypto if they ever made it taxable. So a platform or a tool like this has no need for info like that, but of course you probably need to verify their calculation so that they don't mess your taxes instead.
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way to earn with your idle bitcoin (if there is a way anymore?) on: February 06, 2023, 02:14:35 PM
Instead of looking for those passive staking products, I suggest you either try to find another job that pays in Bitcoin or allocate some of your salaries to buy Bitcoin regularly. That is arguably more secure than any centralized product right now and you have control over how much you spend. Obviously don't overspend on your investment, even $10 a month is fine as long as you can take the risk if anything went wrong.

Some people also suggest value cost averaging instead of doing DCA, you can check them out if you're interested in more investment alternatives.

Even if you keep bitcoins in your wallet, there is no 100% guarantee that it will be absolutely safe. There is no safe way to profit from your idle bitcoins, it is best to continue to keep bitcoins in a non-custodial wallet.
I think you're referring to protecting the seed itself, which might be different from the risk most people are talking about here. Using a cold wallet (not necessarily a hardware one) and good security practice to protect your seed/private key is probably one of the safest methods to guarantee that you don't lose your coins. CMIIW.
1752  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange with cheapest fees on: February 06, 2023, 01:45:22 PM
I believe exchanges are the tool to introduce these people to bitcoin investment, otherwise I fear it's not going to be possible in a practical way. I have to keep it simpler (and cheaper) as possible.
Instead of recommending them straight away to exchanges, I think it is fair to tell them about other methods such as P2P trade, faucets, etc. Your goal should not push them to buy Bitcoin because they will get rich later on, but how to tell them what Bitcoin is useful for and how can they use it. It is not a good idea to push them into an investment direction straight away when they don't even understand what Bitcoin is, if something went south they'll just blame you and think Bitcoin is a scam or something along those lines.

People would need an extra device and most of them just have a smartphone.
There's no need to go straight to cold wallet either, just tell them different kinds of wallets, when and how to use them etc. Telling them basic security practices if they only have their phone to store Bitcoin for example is still a better education than telling them what exchange is cheaper if they want to buy BTC imo.
1753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I mine any coin with this mini PC on: February 06, 2023, 12:33:22 PM
For cooling a steamdeck something like this should do  Wink
LTT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DUWTteit-0
I wonder how cost-effective it will be compared to buying a dedicated PC for mining. Even if it was cost-effective, the profit might be questionable too. Can't say anything for sure unless somebody tested it I guess. Doing some Steam Deck reselling business is probably better at the end of the day, especially in a country where a local reseller is hard to find.

OP, from your post history I found that you own a 3070 TI already. Since you already tried mining on it, what makes you believe you can use your Steam Deck to mine profitably? Do you have cheap electricity access but can't make it work with your GPU or something? It sounds like you already run your PC for mining quite comfortably for now. That aside, websites like whattomine might be able to help you calculate further.

1754  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best trading method in terms of accuracy for day trading? on: February 06, 2023, 11:42:16 AM
What kind of trading strategies are you familiar with right now? What kind of accuracy or efficiency are you looking for? I don't think there is any 90% or even 80% trading strategy that will net you profit without doing any adaptation. Some traders that I know use Bollinger bands, RSI, and just RMA, while some of them exclusively use Elliot wave theory to trade. The difference between their usage is on time-frame. Since you're looking for day trading, I think those tools are more than enough. CMIIW.

I'd suggest you use the strategy you're familiar with the most and adapt to market changes and stick with your risk management as mentioned above. As far as I can see, most traders are looking for bots nowadays to help with consistency and backtesting strategy. Some of them are free and you can modify them on your own, but keep in mind it won't magically increase your profits.
1755  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Street Selfie? Why all these crazy requirements in the name of KYC verification? on: February 06, 2023, 10:45:38 AM
In my opinion, there needs to be a better solution that balances the need for legal protection with the rights and interests of the user.
True. The only thing I can think of is some kind of FAQs that answers the most important question if a user doesn't have the time to read all of the ToS. Based on my experience, most faqs are only related to the operational side of the platform, never to the sensitive information that the user needs to know.

Personally, I only read the full ToS pages when I need to translate them for a project. After reading some of them, I can vaguely guess what this or that part means if I see it in other projects' ToS so it helps me if I want to skim it. Not everyone can do or have the time to do it though.
1756  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [FUN]Heatbit Is the First Space Heater That Mines Bitcoin on: February 05, 2023, 03:18:56 PM
I checked one[1] of the review and the sound itself isn't bad compared with other home appliance. So while it's loader than their claim (could be because chosen mining speed or distance), IMO it's still within comfortable range.
Their claim is ambiguous, to say the least. They did say it was at full power, but the testing method is unknown, even "full power" can be misinterpreted too. I think most companies do this nowadays so that's that. Not a big deal unless you really want to find something so quiet.
1757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum Account Limits on: February 05, 2023, 02:27:49 PM
I got contact with someone from Trade Control with the message that there is a amount BTC from my former action blocked and he will take care to help me to get it .than he connected me with someone from electrum
What is this Trade Control you are talking about? Why did you trust them if you never hold that much money in the first place?

Also, most decentralized wallets don't have the kind of support as Coinbase/centralized platform does (resetting your password, etc). Hopefully, you can learn from this and avoid being scammed again by someone pretending to be official support in the future. CMIIW.

Buying bitcoin may not be too difficult, but holding it safe is another story. Newbies were too hasty in owning bitcoin without knowledge and fell into the trap and pay a heavy price.
It applies to most things in my opinion, especially if it is tech-related. You should never use things you have no knowledge of (even the basic ones) in the first place.
1758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A good way to start this journey? on: February 05, 2023, 02:02:29 PM
I assume by "journey" you mean trying to find low market cap tokens/coins and buy them so you can profit when they do a 10x or 100x at the next bull run.

A partnership is definitely a nice thing to have, but that should not be the only factor that you consider. I'd argue that focusing only on one part is not going to help you find which projects you should follow. For example, one of the projects that I like (the idea is good, but they don't have any marketing) suffers a lot in recent months. They do have some partnerships with established projects, but that didn't help them at all. On the other hand, you can argue that Doge doesn't have any "partnership" but because their presence in the market is well-known, it allows you to get decent profits (at least in the last bull run).

There are many things you can consider. Other than what has been said above, I believe you can also use these factors to decide which projects you want to follow:
- The team (whether they have a track record of doing business before, are their words reliable, are they transparent enough etc)
- The community that follows them (is there a pump & dump channel that promotes them heavily, which can be a sign of short-lived hype etc, is their social media/marketing very active, etc)
- The tech/product that they sell (do you see them as useful or not, is there any competitor on the market, do you think they can compete with established competitors or not, etc)
- Their financial leeway (do they always ask for funding, does their main funding comes from selling tokens that can be quite a problem for their community/token holders, etc)
- etc.

At the end of the day, don't forget about luck. Sometimes just being at the right time at the right place, you can make a decent profit. Or just stick with Bitcoin and stack sats every month if you don't like gambling with your money.
1759  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [DISKUSI] Socios.com Fan Token Klub Indonesia - Prediksi & Spekulasi on: February 05, 2023, 01:46:24 PM

1760  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Adakah Mixer Untuk Altcoin? on: February 04, 2023, 04:28:00 PM
