It looks like that remote node isn't working anymore or maybe just at the moment. I'll try to mess with it tonight this weekend and see if it works for me.

You already bought an AWS code?
Yes. Only $7 for $200 code that lasts until Dec 2017. So why not?

It wouldn't hurt to post the error, certainly. The older bigger file might be old version, which I don't think works after the hardfork early this year.
I'm honestly not planning on working on it much anymore, since official GUI is sooooo close and I have a million other things I want to work on and need to work on too.
Honestly, simplewallet really isn't too bad. Just start it up and type 'help', then ask questions if you're unsure before transferring.
One suggestion to try for GUI is remove wallet and config file (backup first), then try to restore wallet from seed or by importing keys.
Do you have any weird characters (non letters or periods) in your wallet filename?

I got some more AWS credit, just haven't gotten around to setting up bot...

Hi there all I'm a Monero noob currently learning the ropes. I must say very good job to all the people behind Monero and jwinterm TY for making a frontend. Now to the problematic part, as some user pointed out earlier in this thread, I can't get Lightwallet working proper. I downloaded the windows version from getmonero and also put the dll's and simplewallet (x64) in the dir. The program starts, and syncs, finds my monero balance and everything seems fine and dandy but shortly after, the client just shuts down with no message. I checked my taskmanager and simplewallet is still running. When I try to start Lightwallet again, I get to the password/login, type it in and poof, client is gone again. Did anyone ever solve this issue? and would u mind telling me how, I would be forever grateful. I'm just not techy enough to use the comandline program and MoneroX is gone for good it seems. Oh also I'll be sure to make some small donations to the monero development if I can just get the thing up and running, I'm not a rich man so it will only be something symbolic now and then. Ty in advance /Mr Old guy Hi Mr oldy. There was one issue identified related to Euro computers using commas instead of decimals, but I'm really not sure what would make it crash repeatedly like that. If you just want to use a remote node, you can make a file called simplewallet.bat in the same directory and open it with a text editor (notepad) and type: simplewallet --daemon-address http://node.moneroclub.com:8880 And then save it and run that bat file and you will be able to use simplewallet with same remote node that lightwallet uses.

will bxc be updated to the latest monero codebase soon?
No, it's a fork of digitalnote, which is quite different than monero now, so I doubt it.

What is the ROI on staking this coin? how many do you need? Is there a quick 2 paragraph overview, the POS page was extremely long with no summary?
At the moment you need at least ~30 coins per ticket. Each ticket earns you ~1.7 DCR. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to have ticket voted/redeemed. You pay a small fee (0.01-0.02 DCR) to buy the ticket. Use a stake pool if your comp is not super reliable and on all the time. I use stakepool.eu.

how can you even have this list without qwizzie.... the guy is out of control.
As you wish...

Can I get an honorable mention? Not doing enough volume anymore to make the big list, but sure: Honorable mention for AdamWhite

Glad you guys are still here. Nyan has been fun mining! As always our Nyan pool is up with 0% fees. (easy sign-up link below). Thanks for supporting our pool in advance! p.s. you should change the OP ("Listed on Cryptsy!"). You might not want to use a link shortener in your link to your pool in signature, a lot of people don't like to click on those. Also, I'm not sure anyone has control of the OP here, probably should start a new thread...

I won't be talking to any video game critics, yet The antithesis to Huntercoin's gameplay is perhaps a game that does require (and allow) player input only at time of character creation. This would be a programmable alife predator-prey simulation. Once the (totally stupid, hence almost no memory or cpu footprint) critters are sent into battle, players can only watch. (but don't have to, in case of players with jobs) It could run alongside Huntercoin, no player input also means almost no UI programming (not my thing) A challenge is to make it so that no "hunter" is necessary to play (i.e. to communicate with the Huntercoin blockchain without a hunter) This is a very interesting idea. Kind of like a game of life coin or something. Is it possible this could be implemented alongside HUC, or does it make more sense to launch a separate chain?

I think there is a version you can try, if you are able to compile it yourself.
Monero Core? Yea, that's the one.

Those two probably post on a bit too many threads to qualify for obsession, but I'll add DE. Spoetnik pulling a comeback without even resetting the poll

The recent StackExchange victory
What is this in reference to? http://monero.stackexchange.com/Only cryptos that have their own stackexchange site are bitcoin, ethereum, and now monero.

That's also true. If Zoidberg says bye to us all and takeover happens, this will be one of the first things to do. No problem paying for the work done, but there wasn't much of it in the past year or so.
This coin's biggest asset and it's greatest headache has been the talented, but mercurial dev. Zoidberg should definitely be chief coder (if he wants to), but someone else should take over the day to day running of it, someone less ephemeral. The Louisd'or project that Zoidberg was working on also seems to be dead in the water with a beta release promised six months ago and, since then, nothing at all. I'm sensing deja vu here. If some set-up could be organised where Zoidberg was overseeing BBR, but still be able to come and go as he pleases whilst others take care of the stuff he finds boring... we might be on to something and the prospects for BBR could only improve. As for the 1% dev fee, I'm happy for Zoidberg to keep what he has (it's well deserved) and he should continue getting it if he can find a way to become involved again. Otherwise, I think the fee should be raised to 2% and used for the betterment of BBR, be it promotion, buying in expertise, whatever. Finally, before anyone starts again, the name is cool. I know 1% isn't a huge amount, especially in dollar terms for a low market cap coin, but it just smells bad, imo. I also think Monero has pretty conclusively demonstrated that their voluntary contribution forum funding system is a better model for getting shit done.

How much of your 1% ongoing premine have you been holding? Dumping all the time, or just socking it away?
Unless he owns 1% premine of Bitcoin, I don't think that is enough to be "dumping all the time" for the past 2 years... Just curious if he's holding or selling his founder's rewards. Of course whatever he soaks up is enough for him to be "dumping all the time". I don't think one block a day is a big deal at the prices we saw this year. I recall miners can vote to reduce Zoidberg's reward down to 0% if they really want to. I don't think this is correct, in fact, there was quite a bit of discussion about it a year or more ago. I think they can vote to delay them, or something, but I believe in the end it always comes out to 1%. Anyway, I guess miners can vote to reduce Zoidberg's rewards by just hardforking his ongoing mine dev address out of the source code if they were so inclined.
