1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mr Beast makes joke about Bitcoin in new video on: July 03, 2022, 07:19:20 PM
I have noticed that a lot of people from outside of crypto have been making fun of it recently, something that didn't happen in 2018. This means that a lot more people are aware of crypto these days than before. This mocking from wider public could be somewhat demoralizing to Bitcoiners, but it won't last long, because people will lose interest. And then during the next big bull run Bitcoiners will be laughing at people who are laughing at them now.
Their mocking it, and their gloating when the price of bitcoin plummets, but surely their joy will not last long, the bear season will have to end and we will have the opportunity to do it against them.  Some people who laugh at bitcoin because they hate people who got rich on bitcoin and they think they missed something and now they feel ashamed for not being equal to bitcoin holders. Once bitcoin is mass accepted they will take down the video soon they will be ashamed of what they did.
Why are we so serious about it? Trust me, MrBeast has plenty of money and has no interest in mocking Bitcoin. He's literally making millions by going viral with his every video, while having multiple channels racking up millions of views every day. I even joke about Bitcoin with friends or groups, despite my money having lost more than 2/3 of their value.
1742  Economy / Economics / Re: When I started driving. on: July 03, 2022, 03:57:15 PM
Happy 80th birthday! Wish you the best.

I bought my first car in 2017, I was 19-20 years old, so I'm pretty fresh at driving. Petrol was still considered expensive back then, costing an average of €1.50/liter for 95 unleaded petrol. It only became cheaper during the first quarantine due to Covid-19, reaching €1.30/liter.

Currently the average price in my area is €2.45/liter, filling up my car would cost more than €110, while the max I'd spent the past years would be €50 - €70.
1743  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to 30k Range again on: July 03, 2022, 12:28:12 PM
It does. And it doesn't make me feel good at all. That $30,000 was a long battle. The price rose several times beyond that but it also lost hold of that several times. But whenever there was a little increase beyond that, it would almost immediately be followed with a rejection. This is exactly what's happening with $20,000 right now. Again, this doesn't make me feel good at all. But although this isn't what we really want to happen, the good thing is that it's also an opportunity. There might never be something like this in the near future.

Most don’t feel good when they see their value melting away, but at this point it’s really not worth getting upset because none of us can change the situation for the better anyway. The time ahead is difficult and challenging, but every day we are closer to a new halving (less than 2 years), which will probably be a new starting point for a big bull run, although in the meantime some super positive news can happen that can result with a price increase of 10-20%.

Of course, it is wise to look at situations like this as opportunities, because the famous investor who does not like BTC (WB) invested about $40 billion in various stocks a few weeks ago and will certainly invest more - for people who have money, Santa Claus is this year come quite early Wink
It hit me right in the stomach when I saw how much my BTC is now worth. A few months ago I had a lot less Bitcoin than I do now, and despite currently having more than double of what I had, it's still worth a lot less. While I'm mostly fine with waiting it out, I still become a little disappointed now and then.

History repeats itself, this situation is quite similar to 2018, and it taught me a valuable lesson of not giving up. After the crash, I completely abandoned Bitcoin and the forum itself, totally forgot about my wallets, my account here and everything, in a matter of a few days. My goal now is to stick around, hopefully till the possible recovery of the market, in a year or two at best.

Till then, I'm pretty pessimistic on any kind of recovery within 2022, even $30.000 seems too far from our current point.
1744  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War will be over soon on: July 03, 2022, 07:45:17 AM
I beg to differ, the war isn't showing any signs of a possible ending anytime soon. Russian forces are making slow but steady advancements, while the bombing hasn't stopped. On the other hand, Covid-19 cases are spiking once again, it might not cause severe illness anymore, but it's definitely not over yet. Thus, we still have a long way ahead of us, and with inflation constantly increasing, it'll be a difficult winter.

Yes, there is no sign that the war will end any time soon, even the negotiations are still not on either side. Russia doesn't seem to want to end the war anytime soon, they don't rush but slowly. Maybe their target is Europe rather than Ukraine. The longer the war dragged on, neither side benefited, but also caused heavy damage to the countries that supported Ukraine. Now is the energy war, the economic war of both Russia and the EU.
Their target is NATO/USA, Ukraine was just a cause. Ukraine and Russia have a long history of territorial disputes, that's true, while Putin knew that NATO couldn't be directly involved in the war and sanctions would take place. However, I believe that these sanctions are hurting Europe more than they've hurt Russia, since they've recorded huge profits by selling oil to Asia while the Russian Ruble has increased tremendously in value.
1745  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Beware]New scammer scheme using exchange on: July 03, 2022, 06:09:51 AM
Thats really something at least post the name of the exchange so that everyone is familiar with the scammer hub.

Cause if he ask for a famous exchange then thats really a legit problem but for an unknown exchange whose name are just recently resurface then be worried already cause there is also a registration using a wallet connect which is quite scary to do. Anything that needs private key approval is shady and dangerous for anyone.
There's no point, these so-called exchanges are popping up every single day and shutting down a few days later, after scamming a number of people. Today it exists and tomorrow it's gone forever. One common characteristic I've seen them use is their domain names, which look sketchy and poorly thought.

A quick look at Reddit's r/scam sub Reddit will be enough to see a few examples.
1746  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA Bans the right to abortion on: July 02, 2022, 08:10:15 PM
What is not good isn't good and should be discouraged by all means, abortion is not a good thing that should be allowed in the society, either US places ban or not it's what we should all voice out for it ban, the only justification for abortion to take place is in the case of rape and parental abuse with full evidence and it's approvals by the constituted authority, but an ordinary sex worker (whore), or flirting adulescent that got pregnant by chance of a mistake should not be allowed to carry out an abortion because that's the consequence of their flirting around else every lady will also want to do such thereby encouraging fornication in the society.

Dude this is 2022, we are not in the 18th or 19th century, the era has come a long way.

Girls are no longer confined to the four walls of the house, they are completely independent. It is up to the independent woman to decide whether she will have a baby or not.

Pregnancy is not always in consent, most pregnancies are accidental. In that case, I don't see why would a girl/woman be forced to be a mother!! If the opinion of others is forced, then fundamental rights have no value. Such a decision taken by the USA is really worthy of harsh criticism. People can't just change their minds about something completely irrational.

If girls had any sense, they wouldn't get pregnant in the first place, if they knew that they were going to abort. If it was an accident - like the contraceptive failed - don't get into the position where a child could be started. In other words, don't have sex.

Committing the abortion murder, and promoting the idea, is criminal. Execute the murderers, or at least imprison them until they are past child-bearing age.

Cool
What the hell is wrong with you, I can't understand if you're trolling or if you're actually serious. You're actually criminalizing abortion and comparing it with plain murder? We're not in the medieval age anymore, deal with it. We're in the 21st century, and if someone for whatever reason doesn't want or is incapable of having a baby, you can't force it on him/her.

If someone was raped, was in an abusive relationship (and I could think of plenty of other examples), for some, it's much more preferable to have an abortion rather than grow a child in an abusive environment.
1747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit 100k or more in 2022? on: July 02, 2022, 06:53:39 PM
While everyone is discussing Bitcoin's crash and the lowest it could go, you're asking about a new all-time high of $100.000. That's some confidence, lol. Anyway, we're a few months away before the end of 2022, and although we've seen major turns in the cryptocurrency market in the past, this time it's certainly not the same.

Due to the economic recession, I find it hard to believe that any kind of recovery is feasible. If things don't get any better soon, don't expect any major improvement. In the best case scenario, I'd say 2023 or 2024 sounds more plausible to me.
This is a more severe economic recession all experiencing the same impact so to me it is unlikely that at that price it will be exceeded it is still a long way off although no one knows what the next changes will be, so we are looking at the global recession the impact is happening right now.
In 2022 we will continue to experience prolonged bearishness that we don't know when it will end but I think we will get past it.
But it's also very reasonable if bitcoin 2024 becomes a good growth it's still quite a long time, so we can see the exact situation later.
This economic recession will be worse than the one in 2010, while the condition is only expected to worsen in the near future. Honestly, I believe that this winter will be comparably worse than the two years we went through with Covid, we'll be in an unofficial lockdown due to the high cost of living.

Inflation has been steadily rising in the past months, electricity has skyrocketed and crude oil has been extremely volatile and won't fall anytime soon.

1750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Beware]New scammer scheme using exchange on: July 02, 2022, 11:49:29 AM
It's disturbingly annoying to have so many scammers on cryptocurrency groups. Telegram and Discord are filled with them. On top of that, some are posing as group administrators and are trying to scam people who are asking for assistance within legit groups, such as Beefy's or the official WalletConnect group.

It honestly sickens me, it's almost impossible to be assisted in any kind of group without being contacted by a scammer.
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unpredicted rise of BTC in 2022-2023 despite predicted bear market on: July 01, 2022, 09:35:08 PM
Usually the end of the bear market is somewhat after the bitcoin block halving. So it will happen if I'm not mistaken on block 840,000. So that will be around April-May 2024, most likely give or take some months, then we will see some recovery. So bull cycle might start around that timeframe 2024 and not 2025.

Not sure what you mean by this.

Quote
But this 4-year cycle theory may not consider the rise of a) interest in digital assets, b) possible metavesre market spread, c) the rise of productive capacity due to digitilized world and so - the interest in digital sector of economy

Still rise base on the basic tenant of supply and demand.
Sounds plausible enough to me, it took approximately 2-3 years for Bitcoin to recover from 2018's crash, the scenario of a possible recovery somewhere between 2023-2024 looks reasonable to me. I'm only hoping that we survive till then because shortly after 2018's crash, I abandoned it altogether.
1752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Strong Hands Are Buying on: July 01, 2022, 08:50:19 PM
I'm surprised that El Salvador is still purchasing Bitcoin after so much criticism it received after its initial purchase. Apart from that, I believe that we still haven't reached the bottom, thus, the current state of the market provides us with great opportunities. I'd also be interested in investing, if the situation wasn't that bad with the increased living costs.
1753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Bitcoin Disappointed You ? on: June 30, 2022, 07:49:12 PM
I'm not too worried nor disappointed at the moment, not yet at least. However, when Bitcoin crashed in 2017-2018, I was so devastated that I quit Bitcoin and the forum altogether. At least two years passed to even reopen my wallet and finally decide to return to the forum. I regret not sticking around at that time, things would be a lot better for me now (financially).

My current goal is to survive the bear market and hopefully not quit again, while at the same time acquire as much Bitcoin as possible. Now is the chance to make up for past mistakes.
1754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Master Thesis on: June 30, 2022, 01:51:14 PM
~snip~
Excuse me for not replying earlier, I was way too busy with exams.

A year ago, I conducted a search for Covid-19, it was honestly a fascinating subject and one I could find information relatively easy. However, I've already done it once, thus, I'd rather find a subject that isn't medical related this time. Wikipedia itself isn't considered a valid source for academical purposes, but it does include the sources the page used.
~Snip~
Good idea, could probably do something blockchain related along with Bitcoin perhaps, while it's an emerging and promising technology and a research on such a subject would be a huge plus.

Thank you for your detailed reply, will definitely look into a few of those ideas you mentioned. My main goal here is to find a topic that appeals to me, but also includes a statistical/data analysis to make it more interesting and actually indicate something.
1755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Master Thesis on: June 27, 2022, 07:59:01 PM
Hello there, didn't know where exactly to post this thread, but since it's Bitcoin related, I thought that this board should do just fine. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

I'm currently in the second semester of the Master's Degree I'm attending, in Management and Digital Transformation. The next and last semester is consisted of a master thesis, however, I'm totally clueless on what subject to choose. Previously, on my Bachelor's Degree, I had done research for Covid-19, which is still an intriguing subject, but I'd prefer to try something different.

My idea is to do something Cryptocurrency related, either with Bitcoin or even Decentralized Finance (DeFi), however, I haven't decided yet, any ideas on which subject to cover? I'm hoping that more experienced members here could possibly answer my main concern, which is whether I can find reputable and valid sources for such a subject. For instance, when writing a medical thesis, you can resort to a few well-known websites such as ECDC, WHO or even Medical Publications. What about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, though? Will I have difficulties finding decent sources?

Moreover, I'm not really a theoretical type of person, I'm good with finding and analyzing data, what kind of analysis could I possibly conduct for such a subject? Their usage, the increasing market cap over the years? Any interesting ideas?

Thanks in advance
1756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was $17.5K the low? on: June 26, 2022, 08:19:00 PM
In my opinion , the end of the summer should decide the next cycle of Bitcoin price as usually it was like this on the previous bear periods so in this case 2 scenarios can happen :

1. Bitcoin will drop at the end of the summer under 15k and most likely keep dropping for the rest of the year.

2. Bitcoin will maintain the current price of 20k$ at the end of the summer and most likely will drop during the winter and beginning of the new year.

Now , you might ask yourselves, why 2 dump scenarios ? I really cannot see Bitcoin moving up in price this year and even more , I do see Bitcoin going down even in 2023. Will it recover ? I have no doubts that bitcoin will surpass at some point the new ATH that we have right now but.
I also share a similar view with you. I find it hard to believe that $17.500 was actually the bottom, and expect Bitcoin to crash even further in the near future. Likewise, I can't predict nor say when that'll happen, but I'm pretty positive that it will. Secondly, it's highly doubtful that we'll see any positive change within the next few months or even a couple of years, things aren't going to change for the better if the situation doesn't improve (high inflation, continuous war etc.).
1757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 8 months low, no better time than now. on: June 26, 2022, 03:51:52 PM
So much have been in the fore play in Bitcoin and to that a lot of issues have forced Bitcoin to behave in the current behavior, from sec calling Bitcoin an anti-environment and eco friendly even though we know all this are campaign of fallacy championed by anti Bitcoin crusader.
Bitcoin haters are fond of doing these fake news every time the crypto market is down, and this is not new to everyone here. While they always anticipate for the collapse of bitcoin and its crypto market, not even knowing that this will even gain us more interest in the market as the more prices are dipping, the bigger the opportunity to re invest again. So let them believe in their own lies, as they can't do nothing if they see us making great profits when the bullish season is here again.
Precisely, if you know how things work, then you will not be bothered by anything.

People who have that kind of mindsets are the one that being affected most when the market start to pump high.
There are good traders and experienced traders who treat this as opportunities to buy and hold more, long or short
they've got profitable strategy that will allow them to continue to enjoy whatever the market behaves.
It's funny that such people always bash on Bitcoin no matter the situation, if it's crashing they're shouting that it's finally dying and the bubble is bursting. On the other hand, if it's rapidly gaining in value, they'll still shout it's a ponzi and a scam, even after 10 years of its initial debut.

Bitcoin haters aren't going to change, despite the market situation, they'll always bash at it.
1758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Type of Gambler Am I? on: June 26, 2022, 12:33:18 PM
I'm fairly certain that I'm a conservative gambler. Strict and small budget (my account's balance is worth approximately 1 mBTC at most) generally small bets and avoiding excessive risks. Mostly in for the experience and the thrill of playing a game of chance, hoping that eventually, I might get a little lucky and earn a few bucks.

Also, I'm mostly playing casual games, such as Dice or crash, avoiding anything that has to do with sport betting or casino styled games, such as roulette.
1759  Economy / Economics / Re: UK inflation hits new high of 9.1% as food and energy price surge persists on: June 26, 2022, 08:29:02 AM
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Inflation is only up 9.1%, and that's just in line with expectations. Sure, housing and household services, primarily electricity, gas, and other fuels are causing the largest upward contributions to the inflation rate, but that's to be expected(thanks to corona and Russia :p).

After all, we need to keep our economy moving, and that costs money. The survey about "four in five people" is a little misleading. It's not like anyone is actually going to go without food or energy. They may have to tighten their belts a bit, but in the end, they'll just have to pay up. This is the price of living in a developed country.
There's no possible way that such inflation is normal, if you see such increases normal, then you must be pretty well-off to not be bothered by it. A small percentage of inflation (1%-2%) is considered healthy for the economy, the current situation isn't, it's putting a huge burden on households and the economy itself. The higher prices are unlikely to ever return to previous levels, reducing our available income, while our salary has hardly increased since the whole situation started.

How is that considered normal or healthy?
It's normal because it's within the expectations. Don't forget what Corona did to the supply chain, it's more screwed than a 10 pound whore behind MaccyD. Then Russia happened  Cheesy Goods and serices will be infalted for a while.

Other aspects of UK economy are doing pretty well, the GDP is growing, unemployment is low and the stock market is performing fairly well(check FTSE 100).

How is the average citizen benefit from it, though? While I get your point of view, I'm only seeing an increased living cost for citizens, some of which are not able to afford and adapt to the higher costs. Inflation in Greece is currently at 11.3%, is that also considered within the expectations, when we're forced to pay over 10-15% over what we used to, without having an substantial increase in our salary to back it up?
