1741  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do not exceed your targets on: April 21, 2023, 09:42:50 PM
I have learned something so important in the previous bull market that got to about $30k . When the price of bitcoin was $21k I bought some bitcoin and after getting this amount of bitcoin I had target if it gets to $30,000 I will take profit, luckily it got to the price I was targeting but I was reluctant to take profit like I planned thinking the market price will go beyond $30,000 to get more profits but unfortunately the price didn't continue to increase,  but I'm not worried about that because I know the price will definitely increase again and I will get my profit of target.

I'm saying this because of some people who may have a target,  it is important for them to hodl to their target and not be carried away by the increase of price of  the market. The market can never be predicted, hold to your target and never be too greedy to make more profit. There is another day for another profit. This is important for people who have been patiently waiting for their target .
Good advice for yourself. If you're giving yourself a target, no heart feelings and just follow what you've set for. Many of the people that have set for target during the last bull run didn't take their profits because of greed and think that the price of bitcoin shall continue to a higher price.
I've learned my experience from 2017 bull run when I didn't take profits. It's normal for someone to feel that there's no need to take profit yet because price might be higher eventually. But then if you've seen in the past that bitcoin is highly volatile, you'll miss that moment within split seconds of not selling it. Always try to convert your profits into stable coins first so that you can comeback and buyback anytime the market goes in a correction. I've got my expectations set for short term and I've got mine as well for the long term. You need to put that boundary and target and do the necessary when you're at the right time.
1742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will never own a whole Bitcoin and that's okay on: April 21, 2023, 08:13:28 PM
It's certainly true that most of us have missed the early days of bitcoin when it was still cheap because we ignore that opportunity. But then, as time passes by, we have understood that bitcoin's potential is endless and even if you're saying that you'll never own a single bitcoin but owning around 0.2BTC. You may quite that far from reaching half and its whole, don't doubt yourself. We just need to DCA until we reach that goal of having 1 bitcoin. And through accumulation in any means that you can, you're just enjoying the journey and no pressure at all. Even it might take a year or two or more, just be consistent on it and we're all gonna be there.
1743  Economy / Speculation / Re: When to buy one time off bitcoin. on: April 21, 2023, 06:49:46 PM
Bitcoin next halving will happen in the 1st quarter of the year 2024, which means by this time next year. People that have witnessed halving and its bull run. Please, I want to know if;
  • Bull run happens few months or weeks to halving
  • Or it happens few weeks or months after halving
  • Or it happens simultaneously in the week or month of halving
Give it an estimate for months to a year. That's when the bull run likely is going to happen but then, this is bitcoin that's all volatile and we're just relying on the cycle. But then, we don't know exactly when it shall because the trend could change unexpectedly and that cycle could or could not be followed.

I want to know when exactly to buy bitcoin since I don't want to use the DCA system in this purchase. Will market see anything below $20k again?
Possible and if you don't like to do DCA then set a price when you should buy and that's the one that must be followed then. If so, while the price may increase in the near future, that's the reason of setting a low price that you think is totally fine to start buying.
1744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Volatility Problem on: April 20, 2023, 11:13:37 PM
The value of bitcoin can fluctuate rapidly and dramatically, sometimes within a single day. This can create challenges for individuals and businesses that use bitcoin as a means of payment or as an investment.
Everyone who gets to know bitcoin should always be aware that bitcoin is volatile in nature and that feature will never be gone but will always be the first to be recognized. While it's true that for some businesses, it's a challenge to accept bitcoin because they should have a good cashflow to make their business keep on going. For individuals, I don't think that this is a big challenge to think of. Before, many have seen the opportunity instead of challenge with bitcoin's volatility and that's why it really depends on how we look at it. The opportunity comes in as an investment but being a payment as an individual, it isn't a challenge either.

For example, if someone were to receive payment in bitcoin BTC for a product or sevice, the value of that payment could decrease significantly before they have chance to exchange it for a more stable currency. Similarly, business that hold bitcoin as an investment may experience significant losses if the value of bitcoin drops suddenly.
That's why there are third party services that they can use and it is their option to opt with those services so that, they won't just hold and lessen its value while holding it but they can convert it quickly to their preferred currency or cash.

the decentralized nature of bitcoin can make it difficult for government and regulartory agencies to monitor and control its use. This can create challenges in areas such as tax collection, money laundering prevention, and consumer protection.
They can just be after the exchanges and that's why KYC is mostly implemented to the exchanges but then, bitcoin isn't really made for that purpose. Thus, that's why it's decentralized in nature.

Overall, while bitcoin BTC has the potential to offer many benefits ,its volatility and lack of regulation can create significant challenges for business, governments and us people around the world.
Bitcoin survived on its early days without their intervention and will still survive whether they're in or out. Those aren't really challenges at all IMHO.
1745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much will the NFT collection rise in price after Elon Musk notices it? on: April 20, 2023, 09:51:57 PM
How much do you think he will buy the NFT?
Zero bucks, I think. Honestly, even if he's too damn rich and has got a lot of money and stocks of his companies, I doubt it that he's willing to spend some money with these avatar NFTs for which he can just use the avatars and icons of Dogecoin or Shiba dog. And if you're going to sell him his own image, do you think that's reasonable if he can just take a selfie of himself and he's the one to sell it to you, I guess that's more likely to happen than you try to sell him his own images. NFT these days are almost out of league because of the bear market. Even if some still remaining to be relevant and still quite popular, it's leading likely the same where ICOs have went.
1746  Economy / Exchanges / Re: SEC wants to regulate DEXs on: April 20, 2023, 08:12:17 PM
They're too strict but are they really be able to do that if a platform is wholly decentralized and being trusted by the people? Like it's been established and has deep foundations in the community wherein the roots and owners of it can't be traced. But that's unlikely, right? They can easily look for the domain owners of them and hunt them out and have them regulated then. IMO, as long as it's not on their jurisdiction an actual dex won't have a problem being regulated by them.
1747  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Safest Exchanges in the World on: April 20, 2023, 09:48:02 AM
There have been suggestions about FTX within less than a year when OP asked this. And this is what's the nature of exchanges, we'll never know who's going to be the next exchange to bite the dust and that's why for OP even if we suggest you the best exchanges that we have in mind so that we save fees away from transferring in and out of our balances. It's best to be mindful when we're leaving our funds on them. There's no safe exchange anymore even if the most known and popular, you can't be sure with them if they'll be the next FTX. That's why if you happen wanting to save fees, just deposit the amount that you think will be totally fine whether it's gone or not.
1748  Economy / Economics / Re: Refusal from USD - where are the topics ? on: April 19, 2023, 11:47:29 PM
It's all because of the BRICS. Yeah, it was like everywhere, every article being made says that dollars is about to collapse and Chinese Yuan is about to emerge because of this agreement and alliances. But it's not going to come overnight and there's probably going to take some few years before we finally get to see the actuality of this agreement and news.

Question - what is this event for? Is the dollar defeated? Or the paid votes no longer received funding and did not prove their effectiveness in the process of propaganda!? Smiley
Not yet or will it be? We don't know. All of these that have come into the surface are just opinionated articles and speculations just as what we see usually in tabloids and editorials. Whether they're paid or not, it's always what's the trend that's being made into the topics and headlines.
1749  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitrue exchange hacked for $23 million on: April 19, 2023, 10:55:26 PM
It seems that those altcoins that has been mentioned are into their powerpiggy or staking feature. I guess most of those funds that have been taken from them are part of that piggy bank of theirs and their users have deposited it for that purpose and that's to earn interest.
I guess this is one of the reasons why people are still keeping their money on exchanges and that's with their interest-offered features that are too enticing for them. Having that little interest and confidence gives them head of a big risk if they won't pull them off from them or in any exchange.
1750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I buy bitcoin as a newbie? on: April 19, 2023, 09:57:57 PM
IIRC, this is owned by Ver and that guy has been against to bitcoin then after being said as the bitcoin jesus because he has made a fork of bitcoin which is now Bitcoin Cash. Instead of going with that website, there are other ways of doing it and you can see the variety of exchanges (dex and cex) from this section. It's terrible to see your brother that lost into a scam website after hiding his activities of buying bitcoin from you, I guess that he's planning to surprise you then but he was advised in a wrong way and did fell for a website that's not even popular and turned out to a scam. Tell your brother that there will be no more secrets and approach you every time he's interested to buy bitcoin. If you guys are okay with centralized exchanges;
https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/

And if with decentralized exchanges;
https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/dex/ but add hodlhodl.com into it.
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I found my financial success in Bitcoin 1 year on: April 19, 2023, 08:47:44 PM
Congratulations, that was actually a quick gain for you. I still remember my journey that it took me nearly 2 years I guess or a year and several months until I see the effect of my accumulation but then, it's all good. We're all hoping that everyone is going to have the same story as yours that even in less number of time, they'll find success and financial freedom with bitcoin.

Now even though I am at profit and have gained financial knowledge through the help of the bitcointalk forum, I will still buy more bitcoin even at the current price because of my personal belief in bitcoin's ability to cash up with the current market situation to always place me at less risk.
I like this attitude, despite of what you've come up with. You'll not stop and that's the nice approach for what you're doing and hopefully, many newbies will learn with this experience of yours and understand that investing in bitcoin isn't an overnight success.
1752  Economy / Economics / Re: Coinbase CEO asks UK to slow down on Crypto Regulations - lift bank bans on: April 19, 2023, 07:27:53 PM
When you have a voice when you're a bigger person like Brian. Well, that does makes sense if he's planning or up with something like expanding their operations within that region. I'm not familiar with UK's approach with crypto but if that concerns him a lot then there's probably an obstacle that stops or delays something from his business perspective and that's why he has alerted the UK government about his opinion to slow down and lift the ban on specific crypto related matter. We saw how these governments are too strict with crypto services and companies and the first one to see it was with Binance.
1753  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FIVE TIPS EVERY BEGINNER SHOULD KNOW BEFORE INVESTING IN BITCOIN. on: April 18, 2023, 11:46:29 PM
3) Choose a secure wallet: A wallet is where you'll store your bitcoins. So it's important to choose a secure and reliable wallet. There are different types of wallet (Hardware wallet and Softwares wallet) and each had its own pros and cons. Hardware wallets are more secure because they are offline and cannot be easily hacked, but they are also more expensive. Software wallets are easier to use, but they are still connected to the internet, which means that they are more susceptible to hacking . Do your research and choose a wallet that you feel.
I wouldn't say that hardware wallets are expensive, we're even spending on fancy dinners and vacations to have fun while this is going to secure your assets for a life time. Don't think that hardware wallets are like that because by paying for a fee, this is making a huge difference on the security of your asset. Think of it as well as an investment by how you're investing in bitcoin and how you look at it. By means of this, we've got a stickied thread about wallets: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?
1754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What kind of Wallets are used by an Exchange? on: April 18, 2023, 10:57:12 PM
I've watched a documentary that it was an old popular exchange and I barely remember if that was Mt.Gox or it was something else. But they do use a hardware wallet and that's really kept on safevault wherein passwords/PIN of it has been distributed to the company's executives.
So, that's like no one can get that wallet unless all of them agrees. I guess that's a different setup from the other company's that also keeps their balances and assets into a hardware wallet or cold wallets.
1755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving only 1 year away on: April 18, 2023, 09:05:48 PM
I pity those that will be thinking that one year is a very long time, we have already seen one quarter of this year and before we know it, the year will be over and the halving will be at the doorstep. If you have not been keeping bitcoins since in wait for this to happen, you should start immediately to ensure that you join in the benefits that the halving will bring. For any member of this forum that will not be a beneficiary to the halving, you will regret it a lot when other members who will benefit will come forward to share their good story.
They do think that 1 year is too long when we've just been 3 years away from halving and thought that it's a quick time that has just passed through us. While for those that have stayed even on the other halving which has happened on 2016, mostly, many weren't expecting that it was going to set an ATH until the pattern has been shaped into this 4-years cycle. It's on everyone's mouth that the 4-year cycle will happen and been done, those that still ignores the tips about buying some bitcoin while they can before it happens will regret it all once we see bitcoin skyrockets again before and after the halving.
1756  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Paxful is shutting down on: April 18, 2023, 11:42:15 AM
I'm thinking right now those people that have seen posting in many forums that they've got funds remaining on the closed exchanges. And with this, if someone who's an active user of paxful before and haven't used it for quite a while and isn't a regular checker of his emails, socials and updates then they might just miss this update and closure and the funds won't be retrieved anymore. I'm sure that this is quite rare but it do happened for some before. Just as looking at the update on their status page, well, there's still the maintenance towards its wallets. By the way, is the CEO has strong connections with the other companies he has mentioned?
1757  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Supercycle? on: April 18, 2023, 10:15:06 AM
@OP that's inevitable and very likely. There are a lot of factors that are being seen that are affecting bitcoin's price and if you're saying that the bull run is going to come within the next few years, yes, definitely. Getting the idea from the past years where it all started, the pandemic.
Followed by a war and then now the result of those events into higher inflation rates. But look at bitcoin, despite that it had came from a dramatic decrease after it has reached the peak and ATH, it's still standing strong. While everyone is aware of its cycle and we're done from the likely bear market that has to happen for the next ATH to get in, it's very possible that these cycles and patterns will come again.
1758  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction from $30K: Reason to worry? on: April 17, 2023, 11:35:32 PM
I'm not worried at all even if it falls below $20k again. This is essential for it to have that retest that we're all anticipating because that's how it act before it gets to another support level. Long term people have nothing to worry about. This has been seen by the books already and experiencing the market even without going through technical analysis will tell that this is a common move for bitcoin as we know what will come by next year. These roller coaster rides are fairly normal and bitcoin has to go through several process of going down before it becomes stable again with the support that we might see soon. Each level that it goes up provides another support and these retests surely are part of it. By then, traders should still be careful, the active or daily traders because in these short terms the moves are unknown and unpredictable just as the usual.

1760  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Zaraza Bot Credential Stealer, or time to change the browser. on: April 17, 2023, 04:55:48 PM
Thanks OP.

It's always risky to save passwords on browsers; it's better to write them down on a piece of paper if you can't remember them.
Actually it's a common practice to save passwords on browsers because it's convenient. And with such intelligent bots, malware and info stealers/hackers. We all need to change this practice and avoid keeping our passwords in browsers. There's should be a logbook or notebook where we can keep all of these information for our own offline safekeeping.
