181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Established Altcoins or new potential coins this bullrun ? on: December 04, 2023, 11:11:46 PM
But when it comes to Altcoin would you prefer the established coins like ETH, XRP, Matic, BNB and SOL or wanna give a chance to newbuds which will bloom during this bullrun ? Existing ones who has pumped during last bullrun or new finds ? Which one would be your choice of investment?
Bitcoin of course should be our priority.

Not all new altcoins will give potential, as of now as I noticed, everything depends on the hype, not the utilities of the coin.
It depends on you if you're willing to take a risk that amount investing in new altcoins than the existing one.  I'd rather invest in playing safe and investing in the existing one because they've proven their potential.

If Bitcoin is pumped, everything will pump.
Not bad if you include it in your investment list.
182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not take address poisoning as a joke, it is real. on: December 04, 2023, 01:50:43 PM
It sounds new to me, it might be due to being slightly inactive in the crypto world.
But hey, thank you for this topic.

Now, this was done on a simple machine with 4 vcpu's (and it only took 8 seconds), but imagine doing this on a small GPU cluster to create "fake" addresses with the 3 first and 3 last characters equal for the top-10.000 addresses... It would be feasible... Those generators just brute-force for valid keys, so it doesn't take them that much longer to find matches for 1 address as it does for 10.000 addresses... Finding fakes for the top 10.000 would probably just take a couple of days.
If that is so, checking the last 3 digits and the 3 first digits of your address isn't advisable anymore.
Just a question, is the reputable antivirus and anti-malware software can't protect against this kind of clipboard malware hack?
Thinking that it's easy for hackers to produce such fake addresses that have the same last and first digits.
183  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Correction is possible in bitcoin price? After 40,000$ on: December 04, 2023, 12:28:01 PM
~
However, what is your opinion? Do you anticipate a potential drop in the bitcoin price, revisiting $30,000 after reaching $40,000, or do you believe it will continue its upward trajectory towards $50,000?
Going below $40,000 after reaching it, yes it might happen.
Revisiting the $30,000 price after reaching $40,000 or above it? I don't think so.
It seems we're more speculating now here in the trading discussion.
Normally, there's a correction right after the price increases even if we check the previous price graph.

However, as we know there are too many factors to consider when seeing the market sentiment, and as per see, people are in FOMO right now.
Yes FOMO, can drive prices higher, and when sentiment shifts, it can result in a correction as people rush to sell.

How many big investors have been investing in Bitcoin recently?
184  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 04, 2023, 11:53:00 AM
I'm quite late and it's 20 pages already, I skipped some pages upon reading and I noticed that most didn't agree with the decision of Theymos.
This is a tough decision made by the admin, we know it has a different impact not only on the forum participants (pocket) but also on the forum itself which is to lessen the potential profit that comes from the mixers ads in the forum, a decision to ban them might also have financial implications that need to be carefully weighed.  But the admin concern here is to protect the future of our forum to take care of possible seizing by the government by helping mixers promotion.

I understand Theymos' decision.
For the sake of the forum's existence, let's move forward, nothing to argue with the admin's decision and it has been weighed, IMO.

Just my two cents.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Saving Your Bitcoin (and other crypto) Addresses In Exchanges And Wallets on: December 03, 2023, 11:58:51 PM
Not your keys not your coins. And not an address you have access to not your coins.
It's important advice that I repeatedly keep saying when someone needs advice about keeping their crypto coins.
Especially if someone relying on an exchange upon keeping their coins.

I tend to agree with your concern.
With more and more exchanges shutting down and the constant hacks against them using saved addresses is just going to cause loss of access to coins more and more.
Any custodial exchanges or wallets shouldn't be trusted even if they have sweet promises that your fund is SAFU.
Have your wallet that has your backup instead of trusting exchange.
186  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please help verify if this a fake crypto exchange website on: December 03, 2023, 11:41:36 PM
The site is requesting that he pay a fine in order to release his funds. Is this a scam?
From this line, it was obviously a scam exchange.
Because no exchange asks fine or any financial related, it might be asking for another KYC verification but not a fine.

If your uncle's friend comes from social media recommending an exchange to use which is pretty common now.  Both of you shouldn't believe to those people offering services like helping to find exchanges that aren't listed on Coinmarketcap

I can't open the domain site you've said but I got whois information.

187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 23, 2023, 11:36:33 AM
I heard a few cases like this which is a very costly mistake, I didn't know if this is a newbie or not.
AFAIK, wallets that don't support RBF are those custodial wallets and I found out that the transaction mistakenly put a huge fee doesn't support RBF.

This case wasn't only on Bitcoin but also in altcoins, just like what happened when "Someone paid $2.6 million in fees to move $134".  So we should double-check first our transactions because we know cryptocurrencies are irreversible transactions, it's very lucky if Antpool will refund those amounts.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Why haven't the earliest participants sold their Bitcoin, and some haven't even on: November 22, 2023, 11:59:03 PM
Sounds great, but I wanted to know how many times you transferred your Bitcoin to a different address.
one i call my hoard.. many addresses of 85% of total. which has not really moved in atleast 9 years
(funds have been added to it within that time but not moved out) -  this is my retirement fund style of investing
That's good to hear a Bitcoin hoarder like you can able to hold that long, it might you've a rich family didn't you?
9 years it seems I'm afraid of losing my credentials to access my Bitcoin and it might be you're using a hardware wallet or an air-gapped wallet to store all your Bitcoin.  How can you manage to keep your private key safe until now?  Are those non-custodial wallets pretty common those days back in 9 years?

Thank you for hearing your story, Frank.
I understand now the reason why you keep participating in the forum even without wearing signature ads for paid.
189  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I couldn't receive BTC on: November 22, 2023, 11:13:38 PM
lol, who else is waiting for btc transactions during weeks, wtf? What could be the problem??
AFAIK, 14 days of unconfirmed transactions will eventually drop the transaction to the mempool.
If this does not push through might you wait because it will back to the sender which puts a risk for both sides parties including your reputation as a seller.

There's nothing you can do as of now because you've used an auto service which I think they are partnered with a custodial exchange so you can't increase the fee.  Next time always check the network status before making any transaction towards Bitcoin.
Here is the link on how to know the Bitcoin transaction status, https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,1w,fee.
190  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BTC not showing up on Blockchain.com wallet--been 10 hours on: November 21, 2023, 11:59:36 PM
I have been using this wallet for last 2 years, never had any issues,so I dont think its a fake one
It might have been a bug while using at that time as we know that this web wallet has a few bug issues.
Within these 2 years, have you frequently used Blockchain wallet?  If so, you might be familiar with the problem you encountered.

I tend to agree with the comment above of my post, since I suspected it was a bug, try to refresh and might it work.
The problem with this wallet when you reach their support might take a long time for them will respond to you, as there are a bunch of tickets unsolved.

Have you done with the idea of importing your blockchain wallet to the non-custodial wallet?
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: investing a money on: November 21, 2023, 11:50:37 PM
Let's assume we have a) $5000 b) $10000 c) $15000 to invest, what do you suggest?
Make sure that this amount is the amount that you can afford to wait until there's a profit.
IMO, 70% of Bitcoin and the rest is on potential altcoins, like SOLANA whose community is now quite happy with what they witnessed right now.

There's no required amount of your capital, as long as you know the perfect timing of buying on it as told above the DCA way of investing in crypto would be the best idea overall.
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Why haven't the earliest participants sold their Bitcoin, and some haven't even on: November 21, 2023, 11:30:34 PM
Op might wonder why there are too many untouched Bitcoins on different old addresses, it's given an earlier post answer, it could be the real owner can't access it or is stuck there because they are dead.  I don't think there's a real long-term holder now, it might be a few of them, but the majority will sell Bitcoin in a short period of time when they see a small profit.

hoarding since 2012

What? Since 2012?
Sounds great, but I wanted to know how many times you transferred your Bitcoin to a different address.
193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your solution to pay less Fee ? on: November 21, 2023, 11:09:17 PM
thank you a lot for your time explaining i really do appreciate it
I will like you to understand that you should check around and take some information that is vital, because in any thread we have positive and negative advice in which I will like you, to go through all the information dropped here because another thing is to wait until the madness of market calm down.
All OP needs to do is monitor the mempool space, not the market situation.
Because when the mempool space is clogged with a bunch of transactions, it could result in high fees which means nothing we can do is wait when it will cool down.  I mean, we should always prefer to check this mempool space for the Bitcoin transaction status.

AFAIK, blockchain wallet don't support modifying fees, correct me if I'm wrong with this.
Unlike non-custodial wallets like Electrum, you can set a fee of even 10 sats to transfer your Bitcoin.

And those who suggested using a transaction accelerator, you can use them if you've met their qualification standard, which means not all the time you can use Bitcoin accelerator.
194  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Pro-trend or Counter-trend? on: November 21, 2023, 10:54:18 PM
Trading counter trend is one of the most risky side of trading I tried so hard to avoid no matter how clean it looks because it's a suckers trade I love trading with the trend always... And yeah to trade with trend can be annoying as well because you have to wait till the timeframes are aligned together.
I haven't tried them all but I think both of them are very risky, imagine pro-trend traders aim to follow the prevailing market trend, expecting that the current direction will continue and counter-trend traders, seek to identify reversal points in the market and capitalize on price corrections.
If you look up closely both of them you don't know what could be the result.

I'd rather go with the TA and FA or combine them both than use the pro trend and counter-trend.
195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What’s your portfolio building strategy for crypto? on: November 20, 2023, 11:56:09 PM
AI can do that, to look for advise. But the problem is that AI may not be correct. They are not 100% accurate.
My point exactly. AI may never give any appropriate advice. If anything, it will just pick up random information from shilling online reviews. This is where a human brain still beats AI hands down.
Exactly and I tend to agree.
This is new to me I never heard that AI now can perform like this, it might be AI algorithm will be based on a past history of predicting prices which we can't rely on.

What are you all doing/have done to build your portfolio?
It's very risky to build your portfolio with altcoins, I'd rather prefer to hold Bitcoin and do a DCA way of accumulating them which I feel safe.

197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Argentina Be The Next El Salvador To Accept Bitcoin As Legal Tender? on: November 20, 2023, 10:59:55 PM
As we can see, El Salvador faced different criticism when they accepted Bitcoin as a legal tender and might do the same with Argentina, this has become more challenging to them.  That's right, each country has unique political and social factors that influence such decisions in making Bitcoin a legal tender, IMO, I would rather want to be neutral upon embracing Bitcoin than face those consequences of risk.

As Argentina considers its economic policies, including the possibility of cryptocurrency adoption, it might be interesting to observe how these developments unfold and what lessons can be drawn from experiences in other countries.  I wish the new leadership in Argentina's success in terms of Bitcoin adoption.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best thing that have ever come to you thanks to BTC on: November 19, 2023, 11:48:06 PM
Even though there are too many of them I think the best thing is, when I have my own small business with the help of Bitcoin and now I'm trying to find a way to apply Bitcoin to my business since it's applicable.  I'm very thankful that I'm a part of the Bitcoin community and as the same as other experiences, Bitcoin has a great impact on ourselves.

Though the concept of Bitcoin is to become peer-to-peer payment transactions, but our perspective is to make a potential profit which makes Bitcoin rapidly increase users and holders.

Thank you Satoshi! 🙏
So much, that name saved us from financial problems.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can you help me locate a wallet with knowing my ip address? on: November 19, 2023, 11:01:58 PM
AFAIK, IP addresses are associated with internet-connected devices and are used for routing data on the internet and they don't provide any information about the location of any specific Bitcoin wallets even if you're running your own node.  Because Bitcoin transactions are broadcast to a network of nodes that validate and relay transactions not by your device use.

Anyway, just read this thread.
It seems this topic has been discussed already.
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how can i change the fees from a signed and sent transaction ? on: November 19, 2023, 10:45:16 PM
Thank you for your answer guys. Actually what i'am using is https://docs.rs/bitcoin/latest/bitcoin/ but i'm open to another libs or tools if possible.
It's irrelevant to your question about the link that you provided above, I opened it but it's a list of Rust Bitcoin and not talking about RBF transactions or how it works.  Are you sure about this?

They are talking about RBF above or ReplaceByFee.
To understand it better, here's an educational link so that you will understand the whole concept of RBF.
