601  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Coinwix.com Fake Exchange on: March 05, 2023, 11:05:34 PM
I don't know whether or not that means much and if we can trust BestExchangers and its evaluation.
Regardless the reputation of this BestExchanger the fact it was labeled as scam by them and other users in trustpilot reviews makes it more clearer that its really a scam.
Because why wont they waste their time to review for a little to zero exchange. And it wont be the case as competitor negative review coz it doesn't have any reputation yet. That's why it makes more sense.
You have a point about this in the first place, but I tend to agree that some competitors may leave negative reviews but those well-known service platforms compete very well.  It seems it's unlikely to be the sole reason for a platform receiving negative feedback it might the best thing is to weigh the reviews against the platform's reputation, customer service, and overall performance.  We can't depend only on the Trustpilot review.

Here is a funny fact, the exchange platform mentioned above has an article on Tips for avoiding scams.

603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Misinformation about crypto (bitcoin). on: March 04, 2023, 11:42:23 PM
It's normal for someone to conduct research especially if fraud is very well known or especially with the prevalence of online fraud.
It's great to hear that you eventually decided to do your own research (DYOR) on bitcoin and discovered its many positive aspects.  It's true that more and more establishments and even governments are integrating Bitcoin into their financial systems, which speaks to its credibility and potential as a legitimate currency, not only establishments but also some countries accept it as a legal tender.

IMO, it's always a valuable experience to learn and grow in knowledge, even if it means admitting past misconceptions.
Best of luck on your Bitcoin journey.

Not misinformation actually, you got it wrong. There is no shortcut to earn money. We are less likely to lose our chunk of thought if we do our researching before investing in cryptocurrencies. We can better comprehend the risks and potential benefits associated with any cryptocurrency investment by completing in-depth study and analysis before taking decision. This can assist us in making better selections and lessen the possibility that we will decide to make impulsive or emotional investment decisions that we may come to regret.
Making informed decisions based on this knowledge can help us avoid making impulsive or emotional investment choices that we may regret in the future.  It's always wise to take a cautious and calculated approach to investing and to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and news in the crypto market.

Do you still hunt for airdrops?
Yes, before but now, it isn't that much worth it and it seems wasting of time.
I will not generalize, there are some legitimate projects that use airdrops as a way to promote their token and build a community around their project.  In these cases, participating in an airdrop can be a way to gain exposure to a new cryptocurrency or token and potentially benefit from its future growth.

But most commonly fraudulent airdrops are designed to steal your personal information or crypto.  These scams often ask for sensitive information or require you to send cryptocurrency to receive your airdrop reward.  If you really wanted to join airdrop, be cautious of any airdrops that ask for personal information or require you to send cryptocurrency, as these are often red flags of a scam.
605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you safe? Think again and be safe. [For newbies] on: February 28, 2023, 11:23:01 PM
As a general recommendation to anyone: just avoid talking to random people on Telegram and do not accept "help" or provide "help" to anyone, do not download any file and disable the automatic download in settings.
I tend to agree with this, I heard many reports that have been scammed through Telegram.
It might be unfair to say that Telegram is exclusively a "house of scammers" but it seems scammers have also found ways to use Telegram to carry out their activities.  They may create fake accounts, join groups, or send unsolicited messages to unsuspecting users to lure them into fraudulent schemes.  So yeah, avoid dealing with stranger people on Telegram and avoid opening unsolicited messages that possibly contains files that can attackers easily gain access to your device.
606  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A question on transaction speed. on: February 28, 2023, 10:58:34 PM
Am I missing something, is the movement of bitcoin from one exchange to another faster that moving bitcoins from one wallet like electrum to another?

What determines speed of transactions?
It matters about these combinations.
  • Network congestion
  • Transaction fees
  • Block size limit

The speed of a Bitcoin transaction can be influenced by a combination of these factors, and it's important to consider them when sending or receiving Bitcoin to ensure timely processing.  The link shown above, always check the network congestion first before such a transaction so that you'll know the fee, usually, ain't in a hurry when making a transaction, and within an hour the transaction will be confirmed.

You can use also a free service of Bitcoin transaction accelerator service, I usually used ViaBTC.

607  Economy / Economics / Re: Would You Consider Adding Bitcoin to Your Retirement Savings on: February 28, 2023, 12:03:55 AM
Adding Bitcoin to your retirement savings could be a good option if you are willing to take on more risk in exchange for potentially high returns. It might important to remember that diversification is key to managing risk in your investment portfolio.  So, adding Bitcoin to your retirement savings should not be your only investment and the percentage of your retirement savings that you allocate to Bitcoin depends on your risk tolerance and investment goals.  IMO, it's recommended that investors allocate no more than 5% of their portfolio to Bitcoin or any other individual asset.

Adding Bitcoin to your retirement savings using the DCA method could be a good way to minimize the impact of market volatility on your investment.  It's a safe method of investing to deal with high volatility.
608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason for the existence of Bitcoin? on: February 27, 2023, 11:56:55 PM
I was really taking my time asking myself what is the purpose for  bitcoin existence, Does SATOSHI NAKAMOTO really stated why he want to make bitcoin be in existence and did he specify they category of people that are going to per-take on bitcoin!!?
Learn how to read Bitcoin's Whitepaper, everything was stated there the purpose of Bitcoin creation.
If you can see the whitepaper suggests that Bitcoin was created to address some of the flaws in traditional financial systems, such as the high costs and long transaction times associated with traditional banking systems.  Bitcoin is designed to be decentralized, meaning that it operates without a central authority, like a government or a bank, controlling it and this decentralization makes it resistant to censorship and interference from third parties.  I hope you better understand this.

Anyone with an internet connection can participate in the Bitcoin network, buy and sell Bitcoin, and use it as a means of payment which is the mean core upon the creation.
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you accept ? on: February 27, 2023, 11:11:37 PM
So why did SEC now accepts that everything apart from Bitcoin is a security? This makes me smile that they keep Bitcoin out of the hook but is it true that all other crypto projects can be considered a security?

Well, to be clear, the SEC said that most digital assets can be considered unregistered securities, not everything. The SEC has a set of guidelines called the Howey Test, which is used to determine whether something is a security. If a cryptocurrency meets the criteria outlined in the Howey Test, then it may be considered a security. Therefore, it is not accurate to say that all other crypto projects can be considered a security, but rather it depends on the specific characteristics of each project and how they fit within the legal definition of a security.
The criteria of the Howey Test that SEC looking for and that consider Bitcoin if it is met to these criteria.
  • There's an expectation of profits from the investment
  • The investment of money is in a common enterprise
  • Should be regulated by SEC

But the fact is Bitcoin is for everyone and SEC is only on U.S. law.
Yeah, it's true that many crypto projects may be considered securities under U.S. law, but not all.
The determination of whether a cryptocurrency is a security or not depends on its various characteristics and how it functions.
610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bold step to invest my fiat in Bitcoin on: February 27, 2023, 10:48:08 PM
Congratulation and continue buying Bitcoin, DCA would be the best practice for purchasing Bitcoin.
There's a question above that I will repeat here OP because this is very important stuff to know, where did you store the Bitcoin that purchased?
If that is on the centralized wallet which I think is based on the image you've shown, you're not safe because you didn't have full control over your coins, the golden rule that always to remember, "Not your keys, not your coin".  Just quickly move your Bitcoin to a safe wallet, Electrum would be the best for beginners because it is free to install.

One thing that you must be always remembered, never to panic and sell and never sell under the price where you purchase, that's insane.
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana was recently down, again! on: February 26, 2023, 11:59:32 PM
I am losing hope in Solana started of what happened during the FTX Exchange tragedy, Solana network seems always have downtime, look at now, even bear market, they still experience downtone which as I remember before, their downtime/s was during the bull market which is somehow expected to happen, but now? Seems no.
AFAIK, it was Solana has faced security vulnerabilities, such as the Wormhole exploit in November 2021, which allowed attackers to mint and sell fake tokens on the network, I am right?

It might this was what you meant during the bull market, AFAIK, around February 2022, Solana experienced a surge in transaction volume that exceeded the network's processing capacity, causing a chain split and a temporary network outage.  Also, they have faced issues with bugs in their software, which have caused network instability and other problems.
612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: have found my wallet from 2014 on: February 26, 2023, 11:52:35 PM
how long would take to crack password like this !!!Bicointalk?!## ? or i must wait 30+ years for quantum PCs ?
More worst, you won't open your wallet but it's worth trying that big amount.
Attempting to brute-force a 19-character Bitcoin wallet would be an extremely difficult task, even for a powerful computer you've said (quantum computers).  The number of possible combinations for a 19-character password is incredibly large, making it virtually impossible to crack without knowing some information about the password beforehand.

I may advise you to seek a trusted service to help you crackling down your password or brute force your password.  But take note it should be a trusted service and IMO, it was suggested above.  Go to their ANN thread and contact OP but of course, this is not free.
613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need help please on: February 26, 2023, 11:38:40 PM
just give me the guidelines please I beg everyone in this room
Guidelines here in the forum?
Just read those pinned posts on this board and you'll see a lot of helpful topics that will aware you of the dos and don'ts in the forum.

Even outside of the forum, once you copy and pasted it from the article it's considered stealing other people's work or copy-pasting, without citing a source of the link or commonly called plagiarism.  It's important to always properly cite your sources and give credit where credit is due.  If you're unsure about whether or not you need to cite a particular source or how to do so, it's always better to err on the side of caution and include a citation.

I greet everyone in the house please I am new here I hope I am highly welcome.
You're welcome, only those people who have banned and created another account are not welcome here in the forum anymore.
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I've been scared to invest in bitcoin on: February 26, 2023, 11:23:09 PM
some of these wallet aren't even user friendly
Make it simple with Electrum wallet, it's a pretty simple user interface and easy to understand for the new user.
Just make sure you've downloaded it from the official website.

and also, there should a transparency in the market.
In the centralized market exchange, you won't see transparency but the transaction of Bitcoin itself which is publicly seen through a blockchain network.

My question is this, is it possible for bitcoin to be completely immune to volatility in years to come?
There are several factors that contribute to the volatility of Bitcoin, including regulatory changes, geopolitical events, adoption rates, and technological advancements.  So I think it's unlikely that Bitcoin will become completely immune to volatility in the years to come.
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you running your BTC wallet on Linux? Why? on: February 26, 2023, 10:59:28 PM
There are several factors the reason hackers are less target LINUX because it's open source (correct me if I'm wrong with this thought) which means that its code is publicly available and can be reviewed by anyone.  This makes it easier for security experts to identify and patch vulnerabilities.

Here are my reasons, IMO.
  • Linux has a smaller market share than Windows, meaning there are fewer potential targets for hackers.
  • Linux is an open-source operating system

Many Bitcoin users prefer to use Linux for its security features and because it allows for greater control over the system.
So yes, I tend to agree with the comments above about Linux for better security and less malware.
616  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor with Exodus wallet recovery on: February 25, 2023, 03:35:05 PM
I would like to know where am I able to recover this wallet in case Exodus goes bankrupt or whatever.
Why not use the Trezor web browser interface to track down your coins in your Trezor wallet, no need for third-party wallets.

But to answer your question here are alternative wallet to Exodus but I think only MyCrypto wallet support XRP.

617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: i want to know about velo coin on: February 24, 2023, 11:59:21 PM
See it here.

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/velo/

Investing in new altcoins can be likened to gambling in some ways, as both involve taking risks with the potential for significant gains or losses.
So, do proper research before putting your investment here.  It seems it boils down to shitcoin and the hype was done.
618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching teenagers about bitcoin. on: February 24, 2023, 11:45:45 PM
I appreciate your effort in teaching them and encouraging them about Bitcoin.
It can be an excellent way to introduce them to the world of cryptocurrency and help them build a foundation of financial literacy that will serve them well throughout their lives, the same on my side, IMO it changed a lot.

I think it's good also if you encourage teenagers to research Bitcoin on their own and to learn more about how it fits into the broader financial landscape after teaching them and also encourage them to ask questions and to seek out additional information as needed regarding technical stuff (because this is very crucial).  Just be patient and supportive as they navigate this new and complex subject matter.

Keep it up.

619  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Awareness and Redemption on: February 24, 2023, 11:35:09 PM
I ultimately made the decision to make amends and resolved to be more engaged with other forum sections to learn more about it and, ideally, discover Bitcoin. I'm hoping I still have time to start over and prove myself in this place. I need guidance
Because you're here to think of making money not gaining knowledge in the first place.  It's easy if you've knowledgable enough which is many rewards waiting ahead.  There are too many opportunities outside the forum to bring the knowledge that you obtained here and also quite good if you seek first a website that hires a freelancer job which I think enhanced your skills.

I tend to agree that's totally wasting of time and the reason I quit a long time ago.
It's over now not like before, yes before it was profitable even joining airdrop when I was here in 2017, but now, most of them turned into scams.
620  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading season? on: February 21, 2023, 11:36:48 PM
I want to to be satisfied with trade having it season of profit?
Trading is based on market trends and patterns that potentially all traders will not make a profit at a time, if there are winners, of course, there are also losers.  But sometimes considering when there's a certain period of time that usually we saw an increase in market activity and trading volume increase, leading to more favorable trading conditions, which we think that's a trading season.

But in the end always remember, trading in any market is inherently risky and requires careful analysis and consideration of market conditions and individual circumstances.  DYOR is always your priority.
