SIS mining works well, tested >1 day.
Is it neсessary to mine permanently ?

No. It's PoW+PoS. The net will keep moving if PoW drops off. They are independent.

How are you mining SIS? I've requested some test coin but while im waiting for it to arrive id love to try mining, the usual 'setgenerate' command doesn't seem valid in this wallet, can someone point me in the right direction for how to attempt mining? Appreciate the help! Smiley Interesting project!

I sold my SYS awhile ago, but will buy back in if wallet functions a working decentralized market place that is user friendly.

Grab the Syscoin Shade Beta3 off Github and give it a whirl for free! Also I'm happy to announce we've restored our slack auto inviter! Click the link, join the discussion.

At this point no, I'm on the syscoin wallet 8.6.4
I'm confused about what to update to .
There seem to be almost weekly versions of this new sys2 wallet .

I have about half in my wallet and half on an exchange.
I'm relatively well versed in mining, wallets and version updates but I'm getting lost on this one.

There's shade 1.5.2 and 1.6 and will my syscoin work in these new wallets?

I'm betting a lot of people are to.
There has not been a new mainnet release in a year.. These releases are beta on a cakenet and show you whats to come, try it.

I encourage you to continue to hold we have news coming later this week that will clarify what is going on.

In regards to the bolded item I just wanted to make it known that we intentionally lock all beta releases to the cakenet (you can verify this by seeing your address starts with a "T" for testing rather than an "S" which is used on mainnet)- this also makes it impossible to accidentally send mainnet coins (real) to a beta wallet.

The upcoming release, "Shade" is Syscoin 1.6. We bumped to a full minor version update (it used to be 1.5.2, we changed to 1.6 due to how many new features are being included in this release).

really excited for the shade release, looks like alot of hard work going into it!

Thanks! We are trying to get the Shade Beta3 release out this evening. We have had to move our website to a new server for faster loading and for better uptime. Since the server switch was unexpected the beta3 rollout might be slightly delayed but we're working to get it all out tonight!

There are a massive amount of new features in Shade b3 including encrypted messaging using SYS pub/priv keys, automatic digital downloads tied to offers, encrypted certificates, exclusive reselling improvements and much more that were initially planned for "SYS2". We're releasing them as part of SYS1/Shade and they will be reimplemented under ETH DApps as we move into that tech space following Shade. We also have the Blockmarket release still coming after Shade is on mainnet!

Just to be clear- there seems to be some rumor going around that after Shade hits mainnet SYS will cease to exist/be updated after the conversion. This is not true. We will be focusing our efforts immediately following Shade on the ETH DApps we've mentioned before but will NOT be dropping SYS at all. In fact, if the capabilities of ETH are not as robust as we've been told (although we've been assured by Vitalik it can support what we're trying to do) we will fall back to SYS.

The notion that SYS is going to be deprecated after the Shade release is incorrect. SYS will continue to be part of the Forge Collective's decentralized application portfolio and we will focus our efforts on the project with the most potential. At the moment that project looks to be the DApps under ETH.

For those who aren't aware Forge is the decentralized software development company we're forming in order to support a portfolio of application built on decentralized tech- some open source (SYS, the DApps, etc) some proprietary (ecommerce plugins built to integrate with SYS and DApps, etc).

If you have any questions please let us know we'll do our best to cover them all, or stop by our reddit and pop a question in there. We've been pretty tied up with testing Shade and now website migration too but we want to make sure people understand the plans, and realize that we're on the precipice of the biggest SYS release in a year and we don't plan on just "dropping" it after that!
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain ( New SuperNET Core Coin ) on: October 18, 2015, 09:03:46 PM
So will there be another currency? Will syscoin no longer be the fuel to your main developments (shade)
I dont entirely understand what shade/sys2 /... is? Do i have to take action as a sys holder?

I think Keyare's reply here answer's a lot of your questions- https://www.reddit.com/r/SysCoin/comments/3k0qem/team_call_notes_sept_6_2015/cutwgnl. We're focusing on the Shade release and then Blockmarket after that and once the release cycle on those is nearer to completion we will have more specific information on the effort we've referred to as SYS2.

The best is still to come with shade.. Ive been making tons of pushes last few weeks.. Tons of features not in any other decentralized marketplace including:
1) ability to resell someones offer for a commission
2) ability to block resells and use a whitelist to control
3) use whitelist to apply discounts to people on list
4) use certificates in whitelist which are transferable and controlled by your private key
5) ability to have customer rebates by applying discounts to individuals and sending them the h
Whitelist certificate
6) dynamic pegged pricing and fees ability to list things in fiat, btc or any other one we see fit in the future without forking. Offer fees for example are pegged at $0.001usd max regardless of syscoin price.
7) wallet gui for all these features

I can help you xfer your presale coins to an address of your choosing. I charge a 75FCT fee. Already performed this service for several users - @NextGenCrypto here on BCT can vouch for me. You send me the 12words + address you want the FCT sent to, I send you the entire FCT balance less the 75FCT fee.

I do watch the chain until i see the FCT in your target address to make sure it gets where it needs to go, i try to send a followup PM to confirm its arrived once I see it, but can't guarantee I'll have the time to do that for everyone if a lot of ppl start messaging me.

Disclaimer: Yes, there is risk sending me your 12words. There is also risk trying to send the coins yourself not knowing what you're doing.
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 05, 2015, 03:08:09 AM
If you need help moving FCT I am willing to help out for a small fee (75 FCT), PM me the address you want the coins send to (should start with FA) and your 12 word phrase. Will turn the coins around less the fee ASAP- please enter "FCT" as the subject if possible.

You should mention how much trust is being placed in you by anyone taking you up on that.

You're trusting me not to steal all of your FCT.

Already xferred FCT for a few ppl who've messaged me. I've got some rep on BCT / not new and it would be easy to look me up as I make no attempts to conceal my identity. Using my services is entirely optional- I just know a lot of people missed out on the ETH wave because of the no GUI situation, if you're in that boat then I can help! You can also find me in the Syscoin slack if you want to contact me "real time".

Thanks for your offer but I don't think there's anything you can do in this case.

yeah sorry i was reading back on your situation... you're wrapping the mnemonic in quotes? Seems very odd that you get no error with the sample mnemonic but u do with a real one. Are you sure you're using the correct case? Its case sensitive..

Yes I am wrapping the mnemonic in quotes.  Like I said, it works with other phrases, just not this one which I verified at the Koinify website and I also verified when entering into two different computers with different OS's and I got the same results twice.  The letters are all lower case like all the mnemonics from Koinify AFAIK

But earlier you posted (bolding mine):

Our first FCT Factom (factoids) market is now live thanks to Poloniex.

https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_fct

For more info on how to use your Factoids follow our guides here: http://factom.org/howto.

Pay attention when using the command line, read our guides fully at least once before attempting a transaction.

We are working on an easier to use GUI wallet but it is some time away, if unsure, we recommend holding on until its release.

Help please.  I am getting this error when trying to import my Factom wallet using the 12-word secret key:

"Error attempting to create wallet - invalid character 'S' looking for beginning of value"

I already double checked with Koinify and verified the phrase is correct

*edit* I get this error on Mac and Windows

When I check my balance on Koinify it is correct, but when I try to import this key, I get this error.  I tested with 12 yellows and I got the same Factoid address as in the How-to, but I cannot import my key... WTF  This sucks Sad

Is there not a capital 'S' in the value you are entering for the mnemonic or is this a typo? Should be all lower case...

195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain ( New SuperNET Core Coin ) on: September 15, 2015, 04:57:28 AM
Most work we do for marketplaces should be network agnostic so should work for both platforms. This means that we do not abandon the project but we put work into spreading syscoin services to other platforms.

So will marketplace updates that are pushed to the Dapp appear in Shade as well? Or will Shade only come out as the initial release and then all updates from the current dev team will stop?

Its more like the ecommerce plugins (for platforms like magento, prestashop etc. to work with the blockchain marketplaces) and whitelist applications (blockmarket, etc) we build on top of SYS2 in time will also be fully compatible with SYS1, therefore leaving SYS1 far from abandoned as these plugins will allow for its functionality to be leveraged within major ecommerce platforms- giving merchants the choice between SYS1 (based on the bitcoin core) or SYS2 Marketplace Dapp (ETH based).

SYS1 will remain a coin derived from the bitcoin-core, which is merge-mineable etc. It will be in the Supernet MGW and compatible with Instadex and cross-chain transfers with other SNET core coins, we're working with the SNET team to make any changes needed to accomodate this (as they have a new release coming as well) within the SYS-Shade release.

SYS2 is an asset that pays dividends, and will serve a growing portfolio of DApps, which is a different construct from SYS entirely and it will be up to investors to convert SYS1 as they see appropriate where they see the most value, or diversify between the two which is always an option as well, or dump its up to them. Don't ask me for details about the conversion rates at this time, as I don't have them. All I can say is that we're trying to make the conversion favor SYS1 investors in the grand scheme of things.

Much like Sebastien1234, I have always seen the Syscoin team as an open source software development collective aiming at delivering decentralized solutions to centralized applications/problems. Our first project/target was decentralized marketplaces and that will be fully delivered with the SYS-Shade release all the way through price pegging, then expanded on through Supernet integrations, and soon will have apps-on-top ala ecommerce plugins to further extend the SYS1 value proposition. We have continued to work throughout the year even though the majority of the funds intended to fuel that development were stolen (Oct 14, 2014) what wasn't stolen was used to pay back dev dues, reinvested into SYS via buy support (which we have not dumped and is the #1 wallet) or went towards legal efforts to bring those responsible for the theft to justice (still in progress); some members even had to liquidate portions of their personal holdings to fund the legal effort while others paid out of pocket (thus the total team holdings are less than you estimate). We've still continued to improve the original SYS marketplace we released a year ago despite these obstacles.

The landscape around crypto has changed in the past year as we've developed SYS and to continue to plow forward with the feature and fork approach to our mission we outlined 12 months ago (akin to sticking with physical buttons in a touchscreen era just because that's what was the best solution around when we started) we're adapting with the times. The mechanisms for rapidly delivering multiple decentralized solutions lies primarily outside the SYS1 core in our opinion and although we'll still develop apps-on-top (plugins, etc) that will bring value to all applications delivered by the team (including building additional value in SYS1) our primary focus will be the new platform, and continuing to stay on the leading edge of what is happening in the crypto space.

As we make the transition to DApps we'll have a good several weeks of marketing and materials, a dedicated landing page with API documentation, setup and tutorials on how to fully use the Shade wallet to create unstoppable markets with full reseller support and more. We aren't simply releasing a new binary to github and then going dark on SYS1. The Shade release will be no small thing.

Also #general in slack is quiet- yes. All the chatter happens in the Millionaires club and its much more than good morning/afternoons. Instructions for joining: http://syscoin.org/syscoin-millionaires-club/

How does SYS1 and SYS2 tie into Supernet now? SYS is listed as a core coin there. I know that's maybe a minor thing now with direction change but some might have increased their holdings based on that. Will SYS2 be part of Supernet or hass that plan gone the Shade-SYS direction also? Supernet now holds 10% of the coins also as part of the deal, will they convert to SYS2 also? Perhaps not the right place to ask that but I won't do it on their thread.

I guess what I am asking is what is the state of affairs with your guys business plan and why should we invest in SYS2 and not just dump SYS1?

What SNET will do with their 5% stake of SYS1 has not yet been discussed. We'll continue to build value in SYS1 and it will continue to be a part of SNET as mentioned above. Converted SYS1 will be burned, if a majority of SYS1 holders convert that would mean those who don't will increase their equity substantially in the process.

Our goals using DApps within the ETH platform were only confirmed a day ago as we finalized the spec last Wednesday and we were able to get feedback from VButerin over this weekend- we are moving as fast as possible (and as you know, we all hold fulltime jobs). We'll have more concrete timelines together for SYS2, at the moment we're focusing on completing the SYS-Shade release (part of supernet) so that we can then focus on SYS2 in proper priority order. In terms of SYS2 and Supernet not sure what the technical possibilities are there yet, more info needed, so TBD. Providing answers soon as I have them.
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain ( New SuperNET Core Coin ) on: September 07, 2015, 11:42:25 PM
Team call notes look very interesting, but I'm a bit confused:

Will Syscoin continue to have its own blockchain and the ethereum stuff be an extra? I see all the development talk is about Ethereum, but you're still releasing this 'Shade' wallet - so will that continue to be developed or is it just a practice run for releasing the real thing on Etheruem?

Exactly as Keyare summed it up. SYS will continue via the Shade release and so long as there are miners, SYS blockchain will continue. We will do our best to address anything critical that comes up but past the Shade release SYS will effectively be in maintenance mode while we focus on DApps. We will be integrating SYS equity into our DApp efforts via a conversion program.

Shade release will help to solidify our knowledge in the decentralized marketplace space (as we'll be one of the via coins based on bitcoin core with a viable marketplace) via a tangible delivery and will leave us well-positioned to being the decentralized marketplace leader via DApps on the ETH platform.

Converting SYS to SYS2 is entirely optional, and is done at the discretion of those holding SYS. Converted SYS will be burned (w/proof) decreasing the active SYS supply by however many coins are sent for conversion. We do not have details on the exact % of SYS2 that will be allocated to SYS1 holders, we're still hashing that out but welcome suggestions.

SYS mining schedule goes on for another 99yrs and since it is merge mineable with any scrypt coin its chain will most likely keep going for many years.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Moolah Scam on Mintpal - Reporting Missing Coins on: September 02, 2015, 11:13:15 PM
Thanks Mr.Felt, great sleuthing as always Wink

RK speaks (allegedly).  Clearly full of lies - many statements in his blog post have been contradicted here:

A few days before my birthday (in December), it ended up getting even worse. I’m lying in bed with my then partner (Chelsea Hopkins) when we are rudely awoken by the police in our bedroom. It seemed like half the damn force had shown up – we were dragged to a police station, and all of our belongings, cars, etc seized. They had shown up with a warrant for paperwork and hard drives, and ended up taking everything down to Christmas decorations that we had yet to unpack. The police consistently showed an extreme bias against me, a ridiculously heavy handed approach, and a desire to cause us extreme distress when there was no evidence against us, only allegations. They did not allow us a phone call, they did not allow us to contact anybody.

No one should feel any empathy towards this sociopath who is trying to twist the situation to make himself look like an innocent victim. Police aren't stupid, they know about BTC and they know a single phone call would be all that's needed to have an accomplice empty the accounts. They didn't raid Ryan's residence on a whim. Note: Ryan is out on bail, he is far from free and clear although he attempts to allude to that via his post.

Regardless the Mintpal stuff (victims of which I do emphasize with wholeheartedly) - 750BTC of SYScoin investor funds were in an escrow held by Ryan. They vanished on Oct 14, the date they were to be released to the team. They were not to be stored in a wallet connected to ANY outside system, so the explanation in this blog post falls comically short of explaining where all the funds went, and coincidentally holistically omits any mention of the 750BTC of escrowed investor funds.

Those funds vanished along with everyone else's, the story about withdrawals and bugs and having no idea about your own companies internal balance is not only idiotic in terms of business management, but it does not explain the missing escrow funds whatsoever. Additionally, blockchain evidence traces the stolen coins (both SYS escrow and Mintpal coins) to a localbitcoins address owned by user "luminabitcoin" ... the blog post is on "Lumitastic.wordpress"... Ryan needs to change the root name he uses for aliases.

To be continued...

We have added an article on Syscoin to our blog, enjoy Syscoin Prepping iOS Wallet

AltcoinWire

Awesome thank you! And for those of you skipping the team notes I highly encourage you to please read them and ask questions on reddit! We're there waiting to answer any and all questions you may have as soon as we can, or jump into our slack Smiley

Hey folks! Sorry I've been absent from BCT but you can always catch me in Slack!

Glad to see people are excited about what's coming- I know I certainly am. I realize its been a lot of changes/news in a short period of time but we're working with a quickly-changing blockchain landscape (ETH! AT! Counterparty!) and we want to make sure we're not "working in the past". Thus SYS2 came about [working name, not actual name]. We are still going to do the long-planned SYS[1] hardfork which will introduce a fully functional decentralized marketplace on the blockchain, improvements to how Aliases work and improvements to Offers (items) themselves as well.

This release will be codenamed "shade" and is slated for 2-3 weeks from this past weekend. It will feature  a 'shade' of everything we've always advertised but will lack built-in escrow & referral offers (these could easily be added as 3rd party services). It will have additional interfaces to serve the marketplace- add and edit your items, list and view items you have for sale, lookup up and buy items by GUID (or by title- depends on dev bandwidth). A fully operational market within the wallet. Even if ALL web-views into the marketplace are down, the market can still be fully accessed and buying and selling can continue (unstoppable!).

The Syscoin 1.5.2-shade release will also support price pegging! A feature critical to real adoption. As an example: You have items you want to sell for 0.5btc/each (or USD/GBP/etc; designing for several fiat options).  The item's price will be "pegged" to that currency and value; so even as the price of SYS/BTC or BTC/USD fluctuates, you'll always receive the appropriate amount of SYS at time of sale to convert to the pegged currency/value (not accounting for market depth).

Listing (or updating) each item costs a very small fee- smaller than any competitors by far and item listings will last a year (vs the current ~2weeks) or until qty is depleted. Aliases will also be cheaper and last a year (vs the current ~2months). Aliases are fully interchangeable with SYS addresses, you can use them anywhere a SYS address can be used (GUI or command line).

In addition to the 1.5.2-shade release we will also be releasing Blockmarket v1.0! This will be similar to shade in that it will have a portion of the planned features- enough to be a fully operational and USABLE decentralized marketplace. Blockmarket v2.0 will be released on top of SYS2 and will have integrated reseller offers and escrow directly on the blockchain, as well as ecommerce plugins for all the major platforms- something we deferred from SYS to SYS2.

The decentralized marketplace within SYS2 is only one type of DApp we have discussed, we have 3-4 additional DApps we're spec'ing out as well. Those who hold SYS2 will profit from all of the DApps we develop if they choose to convert their SYS1 tokens to SYS2 (which is entirely their choice).

Last but not least we have a REAL iOS wallet that lets you do more than just view your balance- it lets you do pretty much everything to Android wallet app does but on iOS! Rolling out within the next week or two, just finalizing the experience.

This is a lot of news, again I would like to suggest if you have a question you'd like answered, please post it on our reddit so we can attach the answers directly to the questions (via comments) rather than having to reference BCT posts/questions that may be scattered across pages. We'll still try to answer all the questions that come up here, but I can promise you a faster answer to reddit questions  Wink https://www.reddit.com/r/syscoin
