1821  Economy / Speculation / Re: This pump is not sustainable. on: January 04, 2017, 06:42:27 PM
It cant continue like this, mostly because I need to buy back in lower then I sold $1000 and also because its charts is just going straight up. This is insane.

This price right now is probably not even the bottom, it can continue for a while yet.  Please look over the price history of previous moves. This might not actually be a "bubble" we need more action to confirm.
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How important is it to upgrade to Bitcoin 0.13.1? on: January 04, 2017, 06:04:16 PM

Im running 0.11 or something like that on an old laptop, been downloading the blockchain and its taking forever.  This laptop is slow af but my question is do newer update version wallets make the blockchain sync quicker?
Compared to 0.11, yes, newer versions of Bitcoin Core will sync faster. There have been numerous optimizations and improvements that decrease the sync time, although it can still take a long time.

Perfect ty
1823  Economy / Economics / Re: I have 12 BTC in my Account, How should I invest this?? on: January 04, 2017, 05:07:57 PM
You can transfer maybe 1BTC to Poloniex -> Lending. Set it on auto renew and see what happens after 2 weeks. The profit is small for lending but it's safer than invest in high risky investments.
Actually this is my way to make some profit.

Probably more upside in just holding onto the coins key direct yourself atm. We dont know where this price could go you might be pleased you didn't put it in an exchange.

1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Really The Future Of Money? on: January 04, 2017, 04:56:02 PM
If the world stay as it is and there's no technology that will discover to replace Bitcoin,it's very likely that Bitcoin is the future so far bitcoin is doing perfectly to serve it's holders and it's merchants

The only constant is change though. With bitcoin as the front runner and only decentralized options as its competitor its looks like we have a few years yet minimum before the banks launch war on crypto.
1826  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitfinex - Funding. Yes or No? on: January 04, 2017, 12:32:40 PM
The site have already ruined their reputation, if they are funding then well and good but the reputation is really necessary in business and you cannot easily get back the trust and confidence of the people easily once something serious happened.

They are still the biggest site in the west so it seems they have regained some confidence.  They have however lost some customers for sure because other sites have caught up on volumes.
Agree they are the biggest site/exchanger on the west and some die hard traders do really still trust them inspite of the hack that happen previously but as you said there are lots of users have switch to another exchangers because they feel that they are not safe when they decide to stay on bitfinex.

Im still on finex for a smaller amount right now because i think the pros outweigh the cons.  Anyone can get hacked on any exchange, i also use kraken and have mtgox funds waiting to come back from them.  BTC-e seem the most suspicious yet have a pretty decent record vs others.  We just need BTC to become a useable currency everywhere then you wont need exchange to fiat.
1827  Economy / Economics / Re: So I made some calculations today on: January 03, 2017, 06:24:40 PM
So I made some calculations today.
The total world's wealth is estimated around $241,000,000,000,000 (source), the total value of all the gold in the world is $7,290,669,617,313 (source) and bitcoin's market cap as of now is $6,382,047,520 (source).

This basically means that gold represents 3% of the total world's wealth and that bitcoin is only worth 0.0026% of it. In other words, by comparing bitcoin directly to gold: the total value of all bitcoins is 0.087% (or 1/1142) of the total value of all the gold that there is. Looking at it from this point of view bitcoin can easily get to 4 digits. It then seems pretty down-to-earth to say that we will definitely get there before 2020 if nothing goes wrong. 6 digits though, would put us very close (or even above) gold's value, which is hard to imagine at the moment. The millions have already been made but there is still a lot of money to be made with bitcoin and we now have something that pioneers didn't have: stability. Stability is a great thing because it allows for a reliable store of value. I thinks we've actually reached a pretty good balance between prospects and safety of investment.
In other words: we're only waiting for metallurgists to find a way to melt tungsten and gold together. Ok we might have to wait for a while  Grin.

(Also, Ethereum's market cap is already $1,061,551,795, roughly 17% of bitcoin's. Meanwhile everyone is still wondering what the heck it can be good for and no one seems quite sure that the price is high enough as is  Grin.)

I don`t know why do you have to make such calculations?

Gold is a physical accet. To have bitcoins you need electricity, internet connection and a computer.

There`s no need to compare gold vs. bitcoins.

To have gold you need secuity and a gov who will let you, also need transportation if you are going to use it.  I think people compare BTC to anything, its just that gold is the big one to go after since its always been known as the closest thing the real concept of what money is.
1828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 03, 2017, 06:01:15 PM

I have 2 bets, both narrow arsenal win: 0-1 and 1-2.
1829  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price. Whats your prediction? on: January 03, 2017, 08:58:37 AM
This Bull market high: $2000-$3000.

Next bear market low: $1000-$1500.

Is the bull market prediction too high  Grin for the price to hit $2000 by the end of this year is a big possibility and i do hope this bull run rolls for a week or so and it would see a sell off pretty soon and that is what my expectation are so that i could enter once again since i sold my coins when the price hit $800 thinking that i would come down after Christmas but it flew to new heights which dented my plans. Sad

It wont take as long as waiting this whole year, you are looking at the next month. Maybe this is just a slight move up in price and it will level off but that would be interesting since we have a decent floor for a move some time in the future.
1830  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price. Whats your prediction? on: January 02, 2017, 05:10:33 PM
Well my prediction is that its a bump of Market. The price may remain at 1k$ for a month i guess but it will come back soon in the end of January or in the start or mid of FEB.
So, Guys what is the best option HOLD or SELL?
What is your prediction what will be the peak point of the Bitcoin this month in JAN?

Good Luck Guys.

If you dont hold for new ATH you are crazy IMO.  Then you have to think if we break new ATHs everyone who bought is now in profit so you might aswell count in another $400 rally off that.  Then who knows, i'd guess up even more since things aren't near crazy yet.
1831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Let's talk about poker! on: January 02, 2017, 04:16:57 PM
Of course poker is a game of skill, because you can win with bad cards too, why? Because you can make a bluff, and take all wines,) of course you can win via bluff when your partner in the game is without skills

You can cheat many games though which are -ev and win.  Counting cards or match fixing, Its a whole different bracket.  Look at the guy who took primedice for 2k BTC was it?

This is biggest problem in online poker, you don't know who are you playing against. When you join full table, you don't know are you playing against, one player with multi accounts or you are playing against well organized group of players. That's why i like to play big tournaments with lots of players in them, its less likely someone will trick you.

Yeah its possible, i got a rebate before on pokerstars due to cheating was found against me, i had no idea.  Saying that i think if you game select smart its the least of your concerns vs actually playing a winning game.  You can always pick tourny, heads up, zoom (not sure any btc options).

Middlesbrough vs Leicester City
Half season have past and Leicester City still didn't get any away premier league win. It's really shame on the Champion, I wonder why I can't see many people discuss about this, I'm talking about the last season Champion here. I hope today they will get it, today brand new start, need to flush all the shit away and really starting to perform. Leicester City Draw No Bet
Yes wheel definitely spinning so not always the champion will continue to be above. Kante moved to Chelsea make Leicester attack power reduced, so in my opinion it affects. But if we are talking on the match Middlesbrough vs Leicester later, both teams recently playing on December 31 and now have to play back. It will be exhausting the players, I think that both teams will not be maximized. According to me, the night will match Leicester City will still be favorites to come out as a winner, but Middlesbrough will playing in his own home will certainly provide considerable resistance fierce to Leicester City. I bet Leicester City will win in the match with a thin score.

You can see the difference in kante going for sure now, leicester have crumbled in EPL form overall and chelsea are breaking records with wins in a row.  Still think we will see leicester finish top half of table though.

i prefer the actual game of poker face to face with my friends.

They had or have webcam poker sites where you can get a inbetween version of live/online: https://uk.888poker.com/poker-games/webcam/ Not sure there are any BTC option though and i dont know if these games even still run was a few years back i heard about it.
1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Let's talk about poker! on: December 31, 2016, 12:44:32 PM
Is poker a game of skill, or a game of chance? Many times asked question, no one can agree on what a game of poker is. There is studies and court decisions regarding the skill / chance debate, there is couple endless threads on this forum too. But I don't wish to open that discussion again.

For beginning I wish to ask where are you playing, and can we meet on some site?
I like to play on betcoin.ag, cash game on tables 0.05/0.1 and 0.1/0.25 mbtc. Tournaments are also something I like to play, but just when I have time to sit few hours freely, what is rarely in past few weeks.

My nickname there is Underworld.

We can tell objectively its a game of skill by looking at the good players long term winnings history.  It would be mathmatically impossible for good players to just be lucky over a long run.

We cant trust court judgements on many things really.  Short term there is luck involved.

I believe poker game is a skill based games since we need to used our brains and talents for us to win on our opponents and luck is just a totally ot little percentage for gamblers to win, abd come to think for it, do you think unskillfull player can win eventhough they doesn't know how to play well in poker and realy only for their luck? Well no surely since they will be surely be swiped out by those veteran players.

You dont have to be highly skilled at poker, you just need to be better than the other players in that game on that day + ahead of the rake charges.  People use their brains in some games like blackjack but with blackjack there in no way to gain an edge only minimise long term losses by playing optimum.
1836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Let's talk about poker! on: December 31, 2016, 12:00:41 PM
With my experience in poker i can say that poker is a game of skills, why? because even a bad card can win aslong as you have the guts to do bluffs and you're timing is right. I often watch poker live and in my observation those who are skilled always gets to the final table.

I have found i can play in some soft games and the cards wont even matter due to timing bluffs etc.  Light well timed 3bets and squeeze plays can be good enough in some games alone to be +ev.

1838  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen when BTC and Gold hits parity? on: December 31, 2016, 11:25:56 AM
There are about 210,000,000 kg of gold in the world.
And so, 1 BTC is comparable to 10 Kg of gold.
Perfect, this is how we calculate parity.

So thats like $300k or $400k per BTC for parity i think. It will be funny to see how the media will bend this to the price per ounce like its even relevant.
1839  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't get caught in the Bear Trap on: December 31, 2016, 11:20:55 AM
Do you really think Bitcoin price is going to crash after Block reward halving?

No not crash its not going to happen.  What im seeing though is no huge volume in the west as of yet, pretty interesting.  If there is an increase in western volume its spread thin across ATMs, exchanges, local BTC idk.
1840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: December 31, 2016, 09:52:26 AM
Why specifically with Bitcoin when you can buy with any valuable.I never bought any drug but the title gave me other impression. There all already so many negative news about usage of bitcoin for.We need to promote it as exemplary to encourage the people with positive news than drugs.
Why use bitcoin to buy drugs instead of real money?
The answer is simple because using bitcoin is totally anonymous so when you pay for something it does not require you to enter any personal data or id card so even a 10 year od kid can use bitcoin and buy drugs without getting caught.

Its still more anonymous buying with cash in hand vs any other method.  Crypto + tor just makes tiny more risk but you are opened to a world market vs street dealer.
