1821  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE and SatoshiCircle under sustained DDoS... who could it be? on: September 19, 2013, 07:44:10 AM
Satoshi Dice you just purchased a site for a $11.5 million, you should be able to migrate this very easily. Do you have a CTO or even a lead networking person?
1822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to bitcoin and trying to write and article on: September 17, 2013, 11:28:02 PM
Oh ho ho, Thank you gweedo. I love it when I'm given new content to write about. I totally missed the concept of "Mixers". I am reading up on it now.

That is one of the great things about bitcoins, the rabbit hole is deep and you can spend hours/days/weeks/years trying to get to the bottom. Curious what place are you writing the article for? PM me if you want it private.
1823  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to use this? on: September 17, 2013, 11:16:55 AM
It is written in C# so you need to use mono to compile it. But since you sound like a newbie, might be best to pay some one to compile it for you and send you the binary. Yes this can be unsafe.
1824  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory Bitcoin Wallet Raises $600k led by Trace Mayer on: September 16, 2013, 10:58:33 PM
By the way, Coindesk just ran the story, after interviewing me.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-wallet-armory-raises-600k-seed-funding/

Congrats. Love to see Armory live up to its full potential.
Grats!  I'm excited to see the project move forward like this.

So when is red emerald going to be joining the armory team Wink

*disclaimer no knowledge of anything that has to do with armory and the company, just speculation*
1825  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Online Wallet? on: September 16, 2013, 12:46:35 AM
inputs.io for sure!

How is inputs.io safe at all? It is a shared wallet, which basically means someone (who we don't know, all we know he is 28 and from australia) created a website, that interfaces with the bitcoind which they control. They have your private keys and that means they can steal your funds AT ANY TIME. Please people research instawallet and you will then know why this is so unsafe and shouldn't even be consider a wallet. Please stop recommending it, as you tricking are newbies.

Obviously you have to factor in whether you trust him and his business. Just like any other business, or bank.

Obviously some newbies just see a lot of people using it and think it is safe. Obviously you don't have to trust it like any other business cause this isn't a business it is a scam and could be a ponzi scheme. Look up pirate, this is exactly how it started. It was all fine and dandy then one day, all hell broke loose. And we had pirate's info but this guy we have no idea. Now I use bitcoins cause most of us don't trust banks so yeah. It is just sad to see people saying this is a "safe wallet" when in theory is anything but a wallet and safe.
1826  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Online Wallet? on: September 15, 2013, 05:25:47 PM
No online based wallet is safe! Now blockchain.info gives the user the most control of the private keys.

No offline based wallet is safer either.
Nothing is safe actually.

You can walk in the street and die before tomorrow Roll Eyes

I say they aren't safe cause those other sites control the private keys. Anytime someone else controls your private keys that is a huge risk. They can steal your money without you even knowing. Offline wallets are only as safe as the computer they are on. Paper wallets are the safest wallets.
1827  Bitcoin / Project Development / [Looking for Feedback / Market Testing] Bitcoin twitter ad network on: September 15, 2013, 12:46:53 AM
So yesterday I posted this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=293851 to "Service Discussion" and got no response. I think started to think what would make a good twitter ad network.

Some of the features...

  • Pay per followers
  • Pay per retweets
  • Analytics Dashboard
  • Hashtag Analytics

If you have any suggestions leave them here, or if you would like this to be built let it me know or if you know good twitter ad networks that pay in bitcoins leave them here as well.
1828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What files need to be saved? on: September 14, 2013, 07:13:52 AM
If you want to save the blockchain and everything, shutdown bitcoin-qt first then, I would suggest just saving the folder ~/Library/Application Support/.bitcoin

then you can just put that in same spot on your new computer if it is a mac.

Thanks! I'll give this a try also If I've already backed up all files on an external HDD will my Bitcoin-Qt files be saved there as well?
I'm takin the Mac to the Genius bar to get its health checked out before I sell it. I might even ask them to clean re-boot the entire system and have it
ready for the new owner but before I go about doing all of this I want to make sure I don't lose access to my BTC.

I would manually move the files to your external HDD. Just to make sure, and as long as you save the wallet.dat which is in that directory and it should be saved in multiple places, you will not lose any bitcoins.
1829  Economy / Service Discussion / What is a good twitter ad network that pays in bitcoin? on: September 14, 2013, 01:25:59 AM
I know http://feedzebirds.com/ was good but it has been down forever, and I have a friend that wants to monatize his twitter accounts with bitcoins.
1830  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshidice offline? on: September 13, 2013, 10:35:32 PM
Yeah, but maybe the time I place my bets there was some sort of error.. IDK, it just makes me anxious. I wont be betting on it thats for sure I like to be able to see my bets. Sucks, I dont like any other bet sites.

Then those bets wouldn't have been processed, because the beautiful thing about bitcoin is it would pick up from where the client missed the transactions cause bitcoins are sent in the blockchain and the blockchain is linear when you are going thru it. So it wouldn't have skipped over those transactions otherwise more people would be saying the same thing and they aren't.
1831  Other / Off-topic / Re: The case for paypa.l Why do I use it. on: September 13, 2013, 10:04:40 PM
9) Paypal can be reversed

10) Paypal can control your funds when they don't want you to use them anymore they can just take your funds

Rewrite 4) cause bitcoin is pretty perfect, or as close to perfect as you can get. Bitcoin can't be reverse no company controls your funds for you.
1832  Bitcoin / Project Development / Group Buy VPN server on: September 13, 2013, 12:07:12 AM
I would like to see if anyone is interested in maybe group buying a dedicated server on an offshore hosting provider. What you would get is a spot on VPN server, that you know keeps no logs, and it will be keep up, cause I will have one spot. If you have any issues you can contact me, and get a prompt response. It is like having your own private VPN server. I am just gauging interest in this depending on that I may just pick 3-5 people, and divide the cost or maybe an auction of 5 spots. What you guys think?
1833  Economy / Services / Looking for people who want a VPN on: September 12, 2013, 11:45:33 PM
I am looking for people who want a VPN but don't want to pay a company to host it for them. Instead we can do a group buy of a dedicated server and I will set it up for use of multiple VPN connections. You know the logs will not be keep for any reason, you will have your own personal server handyman to fix any problems or if the group decides add more features depending on things. I haven't picked a host yet, this is very much just testing to see if anyone is interested. Depending on that I will either pick those people or do an auction.

So who is interested?
1834  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-09-10 lfb.org - The “Domestic Terrorist” You Can Call a Hero on: September 11, 2013, 07:15:39 PM
The bitcoin foundation is needed, if nothing else than to fight the future legal battles that will surely come.

No a community of us united to help fight those battles is need. Not one organization that believes in misusing funds and being closed off from the community.
1835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No block source available - help me solve this for $100 on: September 10, 2013, 07:37:36 PM
Are you setting the port to 9050? And having it set to localhost I would use ip 127.0.0.1. Also make sure in the bitcoin-qt settings that you selected socks 5 and not 4.
1836  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: STAFF member xDeathwing is a SCAMMER! on: September 07, 2013, 01:20:00 AM
How is someone here for less than 6 months a staff member?
1837  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ignore list swap on: September 04, 2013, 09:55:21 PM
Did the last user say anything interesting? Why did I even ask, the answer is no of course.
1838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for this site! on: September 04, 2013, 03:58:53 AM
I don't know about every faucet, but if you start at GreenCoins.org, it'll run you through 17 other faucets.
Can be done once every 30 minutes. You'll get a few uBTCs, but it's not a bad way to grind.

Not exactly what I was looking for, but I did go through all the site... Tongue Thanks anyways!

https://github.com/italiano40/Bitcoin-Faucets-Helper-Extension- this is an extension, that is what your looking for.
1839  Other / Meta / Re: what is the definition of an altcoin? on: September 03, 2013, 10:26:49 PM
If the only reason master coin is allowed is because it abuses the bitcoin network as the storage infrastructure then that is some really mixed up priorities.

That line shows you have not done any research into mastercoin, or you clearly don't understand it. It doesn't abuse the blockchain at all. Also it is impossible to abuse the blockchain hence why we have fees Wink

*disclaimer I am not invested into mastercoin*
