Great work as usual slush. One question, what happened to NMC?

They're not compatible with stratum protocol, so have pretty much been dropped, as hardly anyone still uses getwork.

K.
Then how do Bitminter and Bitparking do it? Both mine NMC (and some others in Bitparkings' case) on stratum.
1822  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin infrastructure needs A LOT of work! on: April 28, 2013, 05:02:03 AM
Before Bitcoin stands a chance of becoming a global currency, its infrastructure needs a lot of work!
That's why we are here ;-)

We need a portable wallet, probably on a smartphone, that is easy to install, easy to use, and almost impossible to steal from.
Have a look at developments like Trezor.

My laptop doesn't have a QR scanner.
If it has a webcam that's all you need. Where it says enter private key, click the QR symbol on the right of the entry field. It will ask permission to use the webcam and that's that.
1823  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: blockchain MyWallet will not pair with my Android on: April 28, 2013, 04:55:43 AM
I can't get my Android to pair with my blockchain MyWallet.  I created the new wallet on my PC today.

I can get the PC app to create a QR code.  I can get the blockchain on the Android to read the QR code, but it immediately goes back to the screen where I must choose to Pair Device or New Account.  I choose Pair Device again, and Scan QR Code again, and it reads it again, and pops me back to the same screen again.  It doesn't give me any error message at all.

My password consists only of a long combination of upper and lower case alpha characters and digits, with no special characters.

What am I doing wrong?

Had the exact same experience yesterday. It worked fine when scanning the "QR code for the old app", even though I have the new app installed.
1824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can't send BTC from my iPhone using Blockchain.info on: April 28, 2013, 04:51:46 AM
I can't send BTC from my iPhone using Blockchain.info. I have "Watch Only" accounts and I'd like to scan in the Private Key from a paper wallet when I send. However, I get a message that says "Cannot ask for private key without user interaction disabled." Can't figure out what that means.

I am not familiar with the Iphone app, but the message appears on your phone or the site?
1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: blockchain.info android app device pairing quirk on: April 28, 2013, 04:45:24 AM
Had exactly the same experience yesterday, when I prepped my watch only wallet and tried to pair my phone.

You could report it here: https://blockchain.zendesk.com/home
1826  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitcorp Mining Company - BTCMC 60+ GH/s, clear ASIC upgrade path. on: April 28, 2013, 04:26:23 AM
Does anyone remember what the original IPO price was?
0.8 IIRC

Second auction is up: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=189248.0
1828  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING on: April 28, 2013, 03:56:57 AM
No idea with those prices
Please have a look on KNC Miner's produts:
https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners
If we win them through the auction we will get them within a few days. KNC is months' away - if they manage at all. I'm sure we are all aware of the difficulty, so time is of essence.

1830  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: April 28, 2013, 03:48:36 AM
From what I understand the problem is with rooted phones.
His most recent post on the subject says otherwise:

Thanks for that link.

Could it be two different attacks? The OP on reddit mentioned he had 2FA enabled and the app installed, whereas I don't see any mention of 2FA in the thread you linked to.
1831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet Hack on 4/25 on: April 27, 2013, 02:32:07 PM
I probably missed it, but had any of the involved accounts 2FA enabled?
1832  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: April 27, 2013, 02:01:29 PM
I doubt these help, as the attacker doesn't seem to be using blockchain.info software to attack.  They seem to get the private keys somehow.

That's scary!  Shocked

May be piuk can say something - if this has any truth - any withdraw must get suspended until things are resolved. At least piuk should advise people to pull out coins till things get resolved  Sad
From what I understand the problem is with rooted phones. For me, I have uninstalled the app completely and setup another watch-only wallet on BCI. Installed the app again and will handle transactions from bitcoin-qt, I never had a lot in the BCI wallet to begin with, but a theft would be painful anyway, more so, if the reason is known.
1833  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 26, 2013, 01:32:02 AM
Just wanted to add some info to the recent news post on the mining.bitcoin.cz website regarding changing your password...Hopefully I can help someone from going through the same @#$%^ trouble as me.

I transferred all my coins to Gox a few days ago to do some daytrading.  I awoke this morning to an email from Mt Gox notifying me about a withdrawal from my account.  My Gox PW and Slush PW were both the same.  My advice to everyone would be to not only change your Slush PW but change your PW for any website that you use the same UN/PW combination
The advice has to be _not_ to have the same password on any sites to begin with.
1834  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 25, 2013, 05:15:37 AM
Can anyone elaborate why the "real" shares can't be on BTC-TC?
Because AM will have their own exchange... maybe... sometime.

You can transfer your "real" shares to any PT.

AFAIK, the "fight club mining link" (lol) is the only one that was pointing to the old server from my point of view.. and IIRC it was also valid..
slush explained it a few pages ago. He had "private" IPs prepared, to which "trusted" miners could connect during DDoS attacks. However since OVH routed them all back to the same IP the plan became moot.
1836  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 25, 2013, 04:35:36 AM
how do you know when YOU found the block.

joolz

It is stated on the accounts page.
1837  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 25, 2013, 04:17:04 AM
When it first happened slush said that he had the database up and running and was going to figure out everyone's share. He said that he was going to give a bonus to those who stuck with him through this. (I think he said that) a long time ago and I dont have the time to back track the thread.
There was a DDoS just a week (?) ago. Now the site has been hacked. Might be you confuse the two?
1838  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: April 25, 2013, 02:11:14 AM
it should be no surprise that the blockchain apps store credentials to access your wallet on the mobile device ... how else would you be able to view the wallet and make payments?
Yes, but in plaintext? Are there no better options?
1839  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 24, 2013, 05:45:28 PM
Thanks everyone, that explains. One more question - is there a way to check miner status/bitcoins amount mined etc? Maybe some json api is functional?
The API is offline too.

I just looked on my phone using iExplorer and didn't see anything, can anyone else (Ben) confirm or deny how this actually works?
I found the file as described here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1czrua/just_lost_160_btc_from_address_managed_with/c9ljtlk
but can not open it (phone editor, laptop editor)
