1841  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1775 per unit on: July 01, 2014, 07:46:53 AM
Had a nice surprise with my S2 delivery today.  They added a plate across the top of the blades to keep them all in place during shipping.  It was plug n' play.  No adjustments needed.
So they fixed it just in time for obsolescence.

Yup they did that in the last batch
1842  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 01, 2014, 07:42:57 AM
This is probably the best difficulty prediction out there:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

It currently calculates with ~19% on the next jump, which seems pretty plausable.

It's way too early to accurately predict the next difficulty change.

M

Yep its already dropped to a 16.9% prediction.

1845  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [In Stock]$1699 for 1T BTC miner,to be delivered in 24hours on: June 30, 2014, 06:54:56 PM
hosting miners available from July 8th,professional data center,a good station for hosting, hosting fee ranges 165-185USD per month.

On July 10th 1TH will cost under $1000, do you think Dragon miner factory will be able to match Bitmain then?

1847  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 30, 2014, 05:03:18 PM
Howdy folks!

Some of you may remember how I lost a lot of BTC by sending it to a scammer who was posing as Spondoolies Tech here on Bitcointalk.  While I will never get those coins back, I wanted to share an update:  Guy from Spondoolies looked into the situation and made a very generous offer to offset a large percentage of the loss.  What kind of company sacrifices their profits on their extremely sought after machines to make a terrible situation better?

Spondoolies does.

While I cannot reveal the exact details I can assure you that it was the kindest thing a company has ever done for me.  They didn't have to do anything at all, as it was my fault for sending the coin to some scammer.  But they helped me tremendously and that kind of compassion for customers is very rare.  When I see how customers are treated by other companies in this market I felt my story had to be told.

I'm so overwhelmed by their kindness that I thought the community should know and I pledge to only buy Spondoolies equipment going forward.

Expectations dramatically exceeded.  Kudos, Guy and Spondoolies-Tech.  You guys are the very best, and I mean that sincerely.

Agreed, I've only seen that sort of thing happen once before and it does wonders for the confidence from the buyers.

Good to see Guy deliver once again.
1848  Economy / Services / Re: [Lee group]1699$ for dragon 1T bitcoin miner on: June 30, 2014, 04:25:23 PM
Hey Mr Lee, with SHA256 miners dropping in price drastically (Bitmain S3 now sub $1k/TH) do you think the factory are due any price drops soon?
1849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 30, 2014, 03:38:30 PM
Just received the following mail by KNC.
What happens if I click on the link ? My second miner is automatically converted to the "Hash while you wait" offer or I end up on a page where I can chose ?

Quote
Dear Michel Dupont,

As you are a Neptune customer, you are entitled to take up our Plan B offer to “Hash While You Wait” until your miner ships, or to continue waiting for your order and select either a Neptune or Titan miner as your additional 2-for-1 offer miner(s) free of charge.

To activate your account please click the following URL/Link https://convert.kncminer.com/xxx where you can choose your option and setup your KnCCloud account.

Your hashing will begin shortly after you have setup your account, provided you’ve made that choice on the Neptune Order Options.

To ensure you receive all the power you've paid for, please ensure that your account is up to date with your wallet address to receive your Plan B mined Bitcoins.

Hashing will stop as soon as your unit ships out from our factory.

If you have any questions please contact: info@kncminer.com

Thanks
KnC Miner Team

If you want to keep your second miner don't switch to "Hash while you wait"
1850  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 01:51:42 PM
OMG, 0.75 BTC ... how can you ever ROI with that price?
https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

Because difficulty won't stabilize at 20% it will spike and then drop, then when the next big hardware changes happens, spike and then drop, but each spike will be lower than the previous ones and each drop will be deeper than the previous ones.

Look at the difficulty history at the bottom of that page.

I'm not saying its going to make zillions but there is a pretty good chance, going by past difficulty history that it will better than just sticking 20% into a calculator.
1851  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 30, 2014, 01:34:42 PM
Sure. Let's have a 0.1 BTC bet. You bet on your desired difficulty at the end of June and I win if it's less and you win if it's more.

If the bitcoin difficulty is more than 300 billion at midnight on June 30, 2015 - I win.
Otherwise - you win.
Escrow? winner pays?

EDIT: accidentally a word

So if the difficulty is equal or more than 300 billion you win. If it's less than 300 billion then I win. We have a deal! Winner pays 0.1 BTC to the loser.

I will accept any escrow even if for this low amount I don't think it's needed.

Just for the record. RoadStress never put up his end of the bet. He seems to have fallen off the face of the earth - maybe trying to get a refund on his SP30 pre-order(s).  Shocked

It was the weekend - i expect roadstress will back up his bet.

personally, I would guess that difficulty on June 30, 2015 will be about 420 Billion. I think we will hit 300 Billion about 1.5 months earlier

I think the 40% spikes we saw in Oct/Nov are the 20-25% spikes we will see this month. Then it will settle down to 10% reducing to single digits. Then there will be another spike when the more efficient companies put out 20/14nm but again it won't be as much maybe 15-20% and it will settle down again in the long run.

I don't think you can say using a calculator that it will be 20% increases going forwards for X months.
1852  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 11:57:32 AM
I'd rather be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised. Smiley

You honestly think that with all the hardware being rolled out currently that we will see the lowest difficulty increase in since January 2013?

I think saying a 1% expected difficulty rise is a bit misleading.

I agree 1% is misleading, but the early signs are that it won't be another 25%+

Do bear in mind that as difficulty ever-rises the amount of hardware that must be rolled out per change also goes up by the same amount and I don't believe asic manufacturers are ramping up that fast.

With the announced S3 date I actually think this might be a reasonably low difficulty increase, yes. There's a couple of ways of looking at this, depending how tin-foil-hat you are;

1) the S3s are already running ('testing') and have therefore already contributed to the hashrate, and will sit there doing so until the 10th of July. Result, no difficulty increase of significant magnitude from available bitmain products, because who would buy an S2 now.

2) the S3s are being built by the bucketload ready for shipping, but will not do so until the 10th of July, not arriving with customers until the 12th/13th, around the time of the next difficulty change. Result, no difficulty increase of significant magnitude from available bitmain products, because who would buy an S2 now.

Yes, yes we all know that.

I think maybe 10-15% considering that there is a lot of hardware being rolled out, not just publicly like KnC but to huge farms that we don't even get to see a glimpse of.

What I'm hoping for is that now we have broken the sub $1000/TH we see another price war between the manufacturers. Anyone selling at more than $1000/TH including delivery is going to be sitting around with alot of stock on their hands.
1853  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 11:45:47 AM
Ordering will be up shortly it appears, but shipping starts on the 10th of July.
That will mean after the next difficulty increase.

You mean difficulty adjustment. To be fair right now its looking pretty stable. I wouldn't be so bold as to say it'll go down but even bitcoindifficulty.com is only predicting a 1% rise still.

Uh https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty:

Bitcoin Difficulty:   16,818,461,371
Estimated Next Difficulty:   20,199,451,357 (+20.10%)
Adjust time:   After 1864 Blocks, About 12.9 days
Hashrate(?):   120,891,189 GH/s
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block: 9.9 minutes
3 blocks: 29.8 minutes
6 blocks: 59.6 minutes

Great, I can quote websites as well

http://bitcoindifficulty.com/

16,818,461,371
Next difficulty (estimate): 16,940,141,261 (+1%)

I also note your link has already fallen to 19.9% just minutes after you linked its so it's correcting downwards.

So with +/- 5% we could be looking at as low as 454GH/s or as high as 501GH/s

So 0.75BTC each and shipping Jul 10th, interestingly, just after the next difficulty jump.

1857  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 11:27:50 AM

From the description:

Quiet: The customized heat sinks mounted to the hash boards, one box over S3 to control the air flow, two fans mounted on both front and back ends that mean fans are able to work at lower speed to dissipate all heat easily. This design let S3 run at much lower noise level.

Yep thats what it says, but on their website they posted the screenshot showing both fans running at 2850rpm.  That isn't quiet from my experience.

The S1 fans were PWM so ran at whatever speed was necessary to maintain the correct temperature. I expect the same is true for the S3, if your ambient is hot then the fans will run fast.
1858  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 11:23:09 AM
The fan rpm is quite high.

Yeah at 2800rpm each it will be quite noisy.  I know just one running at 2500rpm on a S1 was noisy.  But maybe the ambient temp where they test is very high.  Who knows.

1859  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 30, 2014, 07:25:47 AM
You are talking as if your miner is giving you 1.2th. There is no "issue" with your miners. They are working perfectly, over 1.4. For slow corner that is good performance.

Actually, I have an issue. It is the temperature in my datacenter. Consequently 4 out my miners are hashing ~ 1430, remaining ~1400.

Is there anything wrong with me trying to get max out of my miners?

Of course not. I just don't want you to get your expectations too high, spend a lot of money on moving to different DC and end up with very small increase in hash-rate. If you improve temperatures your miners will give you 10-60GH more.

zvisha, just checking are emails from sales@spondoolies.zendesk.com valid?
1860  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 26, 2014, 07:49:22 AM
right then. it has been previously said:

If you do not like the manufacturer or their product, please do not post on their thread.
you make the community look untidy with your incoherences and idiosyncrasies.

*cough*

Perhaps everyone, including the manufacturers themselves, and even the poster above should take heed of this advice.

To be fair however, it seems like everyone else's main hardware thread is fair game for debate about all and sundry topics that touch on the companies products, performance, customer service, ethics, politics, personal predilections etc etc etc ad-nauseam-infinitum.

You can't have it both ways, a journalist should understand that. This is a forum, it is designed to generate debate and conversations about the topics started.

As a purchaser of KnC, Bitmain, Dragons, Spondoolies, BFL, AM, and some lucky near misses with Hashfast, Cointerra, Bitmine and various other scams, I feel balanced enough in my hardware affiliations to be sick to the teeth of the infighting and bitching that goes on in here.

Please feel free to moderate this off topic reply and the post its replying to.
