1841  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin's Price be affected by this? on: October 28, 2022, 09:00:39 AM
Elon Musk officially became the new owner of the social network Twitter today.

Of course, this will not affect bitcoin or the market, but recent information has also been announced by CZ, that he has also contributed to helping Elon own Twitter.
With this news, I believe it will have an impact on the crypto market in the near future. Twitter is considered the top favorite space of crypto investors.

Do you think this will benefit the market or will it harm the market, it will be easier for Elon to manipulate the market and CZ is becoming a monopoly in many areas of the market??

1843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 27, 2022, 08:33:41 PM
This week Juventus will play against Lecce. Maybe they have not been to their best performance because they are still in a sad state after being eliminated from the champions league. Juventus is still in 8th place, of course that's not a good thing. La Vecchia Signora must win if they want to move up to the top 5 in the Serie A standings.
Lecce is not a strong opponent, but Juventus are also in a bad shape at the moment as evidenced by them being thrown to the 8th position in the standings with 19 points from 5 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats. Although Lecce is not a strong team, but if Juventus is in a difficult situation then it is not impossible that Lecce will be able to embarrass Juventus in this match. Allegri has not been able to bring about good changes in the Old Lady's body, thus bringing them into a slump.
Juventus will use Lecce as an outlet. Not without reason, because Juventus had just been knocked out of the Champions League. The Bianconeri will aim for a win to improve their position in the Serie A standings as well as to restore the confidence of the fans.

On paper, Juventus is clearly very favored in this match. Allenatore Bianconeri, Maximiliano Allegri certainly wants his troops to play all out in order to achieve maximum results.

In addition, Lecce's condition is also very poor, they have undergone eleven matches in Serie A with poor results. The reason, Lecce is still difficult to win. Of the eleven matches that have been played, Lecce only managed to win once, draw five and lose five times.

Juventus are going to be the favorites in this match obviously. And they have also just been knocked out of the Champions League. So they will try to make a better result in Serie A.

Because this is the only target that they have right now. And this is going to be an easy match for Juventus against Lecce. I really do not expect Juventus to face any problems in this match. But football can be very unpredictable. Lecce will also try to take advantage of the fact that Juventus are not playing well right now. I highly doubt that they will actually be able to do it but there is always a chance. The performance of Lecce this season does not look good at all as they are almost in the relegation zone at the moment. On the other hand, Juventus has also not lived up to the expectations of the fans.

Afghanistan @1.65

***
Amazing turnaround for Zimbabwe who many on social media are saying this is revenge for fake Mr Bean that Pakistan gave them several years ago lol but this to me is a perfect example of Pakistan underestimating their opponent, and now they have to pay for it. So many upsets in this World Cup, it makes sense to keep betting on the weaker team!

The odds are good and in favor of Afghanistan. I also truly believe that Afghanistan should be able to win the match. I know that Ireland got a win against England, but that was pure luck. I think Afghanistan has what it takes to beat Ireland. Of course, unless there is another rain introduction and we end the match with the DLS method.

I really have no idea how Zimbabwe even dared to defend that small total, but they did. They won against Pakistan by one run. I have seen the match, it was really unpredictable towards the end. Anyone could have gotten away with the win. But when the Zimbabwe wicketkeeper missed trying to grab the ball thrown towards him to get the run out on the last ball my heart skipped a beat.

But eventually, he was able to do it. I think Pakistan just played too poorly, especially in the second innings. Pakistan has given away 14 extra runs in this match including 6 wide balls which came back to hurt them pretty badly.
1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Mining Will Be Banned Due to Fears of Climate Change? on: October 27, 2022, 09:33:12 AM

-snip-
I'm not sure the links you shared are particularly good news for the UK. While it does make it seem pretty unlikely that lawmakers there would pursue an outright ban on bitcoin, talks of more and more regulations are unwanted. Bitcoin does not need regulated. Reading between the lines, it sounds like this is them paving the way for a CBDC.

It is true that bitcoin does not need regulation, regulation does not benefit bitcoin, but I think regulation will be the general regulation for the entire crypto industry. Do you think cryptocurrencies need regulation? with scams rampant in the altcoin market causing heavy damage to investors and the overall reputation of cryptocurrencies. If we want to be popularized and mass-adopted, regulation is inevitable. Regulations can be frustrating if they are too strict but let's look at the bright side, cryptocurrencies are getting bigger and crypto is inevitable.
CBDC is bound to happen like it or not, but I don't see CBDC having any effect on bitcoin, so let them happen.
1846  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Metaverse still a thing on: October 26, 2022, 10:10:04 PM
I've heard of news not so long ago about Decentraland, one of the biggest and most funded metaverse projects out there having a measly daily active users of less than 40. On the other hand, Meta, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's answer to Metaverse has been receiving flak in multiple aspects of his still in-progress creation. I also noticed that less and less projects include implementation of their project or a fundamental of it in the Metaverse as a form of future-proof answer. So this begs the question, is Metaverse still the future? is it just a fever dream we once had that we are now waking up on?

Since 2000, there has been a trend to create virtual reality.  It is no coincidence that at the beginning of the new millennium the film "The Matrix" was filmed.

Since 2000, people have been actively using the Internet.  The virtual space has become the new frontier for people.  With the massive advent of smartphones, the Internet has become even more accessible.  The creation of a metaverse is a logical step towards the development of virtual reality.

However, we are currently seeing a slowdown in the process of creating a full-fledged Metaverse.

Why is this happening?  There can be many reasons.

After the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, people are tired of virtual reality.  In addition, to create a full-fledged virtual reality, new devices are needed that have not yet been invented.

This is why the creation of the Metaverse has now slowed down.

Metaverse devices such as VR glasses are already on the market, but they are not really popular because of their high cost and are not widely used. Besides, metaverse is a very new concept that has not been deeply exploited, at the moment I only see Meta as the only company that is pushing to focus on this field, so there will be problems that need time to be resolved. Crypto projects like Mana or Sandbox are not really metaverse yet, as they only offer a few features of the metaverse. Their goal as well as other projects are to pump tokens and dump for profit, so it is impossible to look at these two projects to evaluate the entire metaverse field. They do not represent the metaverse.
1847  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices in Germany - Tell me what you want to know on: October 26, 2022, 09:57:30 PM
I am wondering on what basis they are changing the pack prices on periodic basis? Like how do the stores know it’s time to upgrade the label this week?

The question is why are we just seeing the price upgrades in the Germany only? Every now and then I can see it’s only Germany everyone talking about. Why other EU regions are not in the mentions.

Does the Germany has Special relationship with the on going war or something?

Stores are also just an intermediary to bring products to consumers, once the manufacturer increases the price, the store must increase the price to make a profit.

In the EU region, Germany is perhaps the hardest hit country as it is largely dependent on Russian gas and now they only receive 6% of the gas supply after the Nord Stream pipeline was broken by crooks, they are having a headache to find an alternative gas source.

OP said he moved from Ireland to Germany which means OP is living in Germany so he can only update us on the situation in Germany.

The thing about Dillashaw's injury tho is that it's still bothering him.  He wasn't even in the open work outs a couple of days before the event.  If anything, his camp made a dumb decision pushing through with the match.  They could've asked for another schedule.
They could postpone it, but nobody likes when fighters cancel their fights for any reason.
Maybe he expected that he will recover in time for the fight against Sterling but this didn't happen, and I can only say that Sterling is one lucky champ.  Tongue
I was impressed Islam Makhachev and he is deserved champion in his division, worthy replacement for his coach Khabib.
Well done Belal Muhammad, he proved he is top fighter after win against Sean Brady, and I can see him doing good against welterweight champ Leon Edwards.

He should have to postpone it. In this match, Dillashaw is not a fighter who could have a profitable outcome if he was bet upon.

UFC 280 Dillashaw Vs Sterling is over by the way and as expected Sterling was the winner of the fight. It was a Knockout result in the second round. And it was really sad to witness a fight like this. Dillashaw was not in the fight at all. He got ragdolled and manhandled by Sterling. However, he had to be respected for continuing even with a dislocated shoulder. He got beaten up so badly by Sterling. Sterling was better than him in both the ground games and the stand-up game as well. Dillashaw had no chance in that fight.
1849  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: October 25, 2022, 11:43:42 PM
Recently, President Nayibbukele criticized Western-controlled media that unfairly spoke out about bitcoin being legal tender in El Salvador that had failed. We've been through a bearish season for almost a year so far, and El Salvador maintains a hardline stance still not selling any bitcoin, along with that they are promoting bitcoin-related issues such as bringing bitcoin into education, continuing to develop bitcoin city...It's just the beginning, so don't judge us, we need time.

Maybe I am just too big of a pessimist but I don't see the EU going against Big Brother when it comes to big major decisions.
I don't disagree, but bitcoin mining is hardly on the same scale as open war with Russia. I'm sure I read in the last few months that some UK politicians were talking about making the UK attractive for cryptocurrency businesses, which is in stark contrast to the horrendous bitcoin related bills and laws currently making their way through the US government.

I also don't think the EU will follow everything Big Brother says, national interests must always come first. What you are talking about is the new prime minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, Rishi is the one who has stated that he wants the UK to be a crypto hub during his time as finance minister.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-sets-out-plan-to-make-uk-a-global-cryptoasset-technology-hub

And in one of the latest news today, UK lawmakers are voting in favor of cryptocurrencies becoming a financial instrument. This bill will be passed if it is passed by parliament and approved by King Charles III, the Bill will go into effect soon. This is very good news for the crypto industry.

1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin and Inflation and why bitcoin? on: October 15, 2022, 02:54:15 AM
We are in a time of crisis and I have to say that inflation is so high, it affects everything. A lot of people have been expecting bitcoin to exert its anti-inflation properties, and then things didn't go as expected, assets like bitcoin are not immune to short-term negative effects. I see that many people are starting to be negative and skeptical about bitcoin's ability to fight inflation.

But if we don't just look at the short term but look at the long term, looking to the future. We'll see what bitcoin can do.

+ In 2010: with 10,000BTC we will buy 2 pizzas.
+ In 2016: with 100BTC we can buy a car.
+ In 2022: with only 10BTC we will buy a house, maybe many countries will not need 10BTC to own a house, sometimes only 3BTC to 5BTC.

Just looking at these things, I can tell you that, if BTC is not the best anti-inflation asset, you won't find a second asset that is more inflation-resistant than BTC.

Let's feel for ourselves what is going on in our daily life, is this true? I believe you will have your own final answer.

1857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 08, 2022, 08:04:25 PM
The gossip about Ronaldo are getting wild recently because he linked with so many clubs without uncertain news and the news about this appears since last month
this because Turkish media Ajansspor that they claimed Ronaldo has personal deal with Fenerbahce manager but Ronaldo has refused this rumours because he don't have any plan to playing at Turkish league moreover Fenerbahce probably cannot pay his salary which is very high so this rumour probably will not going to happend but one is certain about him that Manchester United are willing to release him and to find new clubs in January so let see which clubs will be his destination
Now all hoaxes are going to be ended about Cristiano Ronaldo because there was a chance for him to leave Manchester United and go ahead about his desire of playing into Champions League, but things not works for him, so he is currently in Manchester United which is surely on path of success even many disappointing results are also happening but most chances they could be over through them and get good position into Premier League which could be good for Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United.

Surely Fenerbahçe is small club in regard of Atlético Madrid, Roma and Napoli these all rejected this deal just because of his salary and bonuses, so there is no chance he is going to be joined Fenerbahçe because they are not capable of giving him his desired salary right now most chances he will stay here for good time and try to give his best for Manchester United.

It is really sad to see what the career of Cristiano Ronaldo has come to at this stage. While Cristiano Ronaldo had an exceptionally good season for Manchester United last season, at present, Manchester United doesn't seem to have any faith in him. They are not playing him regularly. Because of that, he is also not getting any actual chance of proving himself in the public eye.

I also cannot say that Manchester United is doing anything wrong. This is especially true when they are getting the results they want. Another factor is that Cristiano Ronaldo himself tried to move away from Manchester United at one point in time. However, that did not work out. So Manchester United also lost faith in him because of that. Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be the subject of a lot of interest from clubs that are not very good or at least not up to the standards of Cristiano Ronaldo in my opinion.
1858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 08, 2022, 07:07:58 PM
Most of these "we didn't get the results we wanted, we should sack the manager" type of questions and actions do not really reflect on the step afterwards and that causes a little bit of a trouble. I am not saying that it should be an easy task, but it needs to be carefully planned for the future.
Like let's assume they fired him, who are they going to get at this point? Are they really sure that they would be able to get someone that would be as good as him, or even better? I am not sure that many exists, Tuchel is the only one I can think of and I really doubt that they could get tuchel, both because of price reasons and he would rather go to a bigger name club too.
High pressure for Allegri after several match failure and last two games before success made all public want to sack him quit because Juventus won last two games at domestic and Champion League. Bad started on Serie A and loss two games at Champion League made his position as Juventus manager got higher pressure actually from Juventus fans want him sacking as soon possible. But I think all expected fans want to sack him slowly gone after success give two won for Juventus from Bologna at Serie A and last won at Champion League after defeating Maccabi Haifa.

Have another higher pressure for next weeks if Juventus failed against with Milan, actually will be at the end this season pressure for Allegri, when Juventus loss all pressure want Allegri left his position, but later he win two or three match and make public voice as him sacking will be silent awhile.

I know that a lot of people are saying Juventus cannot sack Allegri because they actually cannot afford to do it. But I think they can. They are just not trying to waste any money and they are trying to make the maximum use of what they have right now. Right now the performance of Juventus does not suggest that any rapid improvement is going to happen. Juventus won the last match but it was against a very weak opponent. And now they have a match coming up against Milan who are the defending champion of the Italian League. Now I really don't think they are capable of winning this match against Milan. And that is going to put them in much more trouble and the coach under a lot of pressure as well.

I am sorry to say this, but if we just blame the coach, I don't think we will be doing justice. As it turns out, the coach did a pretty good job building a team for this season. Unfortunately, injuries took some of their most important players away from them. And for some reason, I think this is why the coach is being given a second chance.
1859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Borderless! on: October 08, 2022, 03:07:07 AM
Yes, bitcoin has no borders. This reminds me of march, april this year, when the war between Russia and Ukraine started, a lot of people used bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to donate to Ukraine, if there is no bitcoin in that case i think people who want to support ukraine will have no way to transfer money to donate to Ukraine. In this case, obviously fiat can't do that because if you donate via bank then things will be very complicated and there is no guarantee that the ukraines will receive the donation via fiat.

As long as we have the internet and smartphones, we can transfer money to anywhere in the world with just a few minutes of confirmation that no traditional asset can do, can only be bitcoin.
1860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is an economic recession bearish for the market? on: October 08, 2022, 02:49:34 AM
This is the right mindset, bitcoin will in the long run remain the inflation-resistant asset as it was originally designed. The current short-term decline can be understood simply because most of the investors in the market are speculators, so depending on the market situation they will invest in to make a profit. Currently, both gold and crypto are bearish and only the USD is the strongest, so other assets dumping is understandable. People are just speculating for short term profit, in the long term, I believe a lot of people choose bitcoin and gold as safe haven.
