1281  Economy / Economics / Re: The fear of global recession is real or just a speculation? on: February 20, 2023, 07:15:13 AM
There is much discussion in both the print and electronic media regarding the probability of global recession as a consequence of ongoing war in Ukraine, but I think unlikely to happen any time soon, even if it does, it is expected to be less severe than recession in 2007, as global GDP is still growing albeit at a slow rate. The real challenges for policy makers are growing debt, climate change and increasing frequency of natural disasters, such as earthquake, hurricanes and floods, which pose significant risk to world economy. These need to be addressed by global community urgently, in order to ensure a stable and thriving economy.

Really, you think that the war between Russia and Ukraine is what is causing the fear of recession? You have to stop consuming mainstream media and wake up to reality my friend. Money printing, or "Quantitative Easing" is one of the many symptoms of what the world is yet to face and the coming recession stems all the way back to the abolishing of the Gold standard during the Nixon era in the 70's which debased the reserve currency. The Global Financial Crisis of 2008 without bailouts is what should have been the result of all of the war funding and garbage actions that the US and its servants/accomplice foreign powers made since the abolishing of the gold standard. This global recession is not as a result of COVID or the war with Ukraine. It spans much longer than that, and what's coming will be comparable to the fall of the Roman empire who faced similar consequences for debasing their currency.
After all, recession or economic crisis is a cycle that repeats itself, it is part of the world economy and will never go away. Even if we don't abolish the gold standard, there will be recessions in different ways. But regardless of the reason for the recession or crisis, the world economy will always recover after that, and that is how the world economy works.
Sometimes a recession is not necessarily a bad thing, there will be many people going bankrupt and difficult, but also, many people will change their lives from the recession.
1282  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 20, 2023, 06:59:38 AM
As investors we must always be prepared for any conditions, I have been scammed several times in business or when investing in altcoins, and I think opportunities for crashes from bitcoin or cryptocurrencies can also happen at any time, there are many things that can cause it and if that happens then we shouldn't ever cry, before that happens then do a rethink whether you dare to take risks or not, if you don't dare to take risks then it's better to leave from now on.

Indeed, if you can't take the risk and can't lose that money, it's best not to invest. Not only with bitcoin but all other investments are risky, and the higher the risk, the higher the return. No one knows what bitcoin will look like tomorrow, but since it can be highly profitable, people are willing to take the risk. If bitcoin crash entirely, it will be my biggest regret, but it will never affect my life as I am investing with money ready to lose.
1283  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin be trusted? on: February 19, 2023, 05:57:42 AM
If he buys Bitcoin it’s considered an investment. Every investment has a risk. People assumed that real estate was a low risk investment and many are under water now. I think the only safe investment right now is bonds. Or you keep it in your savings account.

Nobody knows if it will crash or not. It’s been over a decade, since it hasn’t hit $0 yet then most likely it won’t anytime soon. You can say the same for a stock like Tesla. It’s the most popular EV brand today however will they still be around in a decades time? Nobody knows.

Look at real estate in China, many times riskier than bitcoin investment, there is no investment that is both safe and has a high return. I don't know about bonds, but gold is also a safe bet in the long run, but the returns won't be too high.

Bitcoin is like other assets, the value is determined by our beliefs, as long as we still need and use it, bitcoin will always exist and never go to zero. I would rather invest and trust in a decentralized asset like bitcoin than hand over my money to some company like Tesla, even though it is now more trusted by people than bitcoin.
1284  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to BTC price if the US defaults? on: February 19, 2023, 05:43:30 AM
But when this happens, the world would probably be using another currency (Euro, perhaps?) as its reserve currency.
There are a bunch of candidates as replacement and Euro is not among them. In fact in the future Europe's economy falls apart faster and worse than US economy as it is already evident from the inflation, recession and deindustrialization going on in the two continents.
Unfortunately one of the biggest replacement options seems to be Yuan! Then it would be China that abuses its power an ruins the world instead of US...

I agree with this thinking, the EU economy is not sustainable, the recent war shows that the EU is too dependent on the US, and there will be no solution if it completely cuts off ties with Russia, and in case the US stops supporting, they will collapse completely. Euro cannot become a world currency like USD. The only competitor so far for the USD is none other than the Chinese yuan. With the current rapid development rate, if the US does not have any solution to restrain China's development. In the future, they will soon replace the US as a superpower and the renminbi will replace the US dollar.
1285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 18, 2023, 06:29:14 PM
David Beckham's Inter Miami are in pole position to sign Argentina forward Lionel Messi, 35, should he decide to leave Paris St-Germain. Messi in the league of American football? Somehow it seems to me that it would be too early for him, because unlike Ronaldo, he is still playing at the highest level of football and can still achieve a lot in Europe. It is still early for his football retirement.

Lionel Messi can still play at the top of the competition without any hesitation. So it is probably not going to be the best idea for him to move to a league that is not that competitive. I believe after all it comes down to him thinking that he has done everything that there is to be done in football. So he is trying to chill right now. Might also be him losing the competitive mindset.

Honestly tell me what more can he achieve in his career? I do not think there is any motivation for him as well. The only thing that he was missing from his career was the world cup. And, now he has that as well.
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have life span? on: February 18, 2023, 10:10:56 AM
It depends on it value, if people stop trading and mining Bitcoin it will automatically loose it value,
Speaking about Bitcoin having a life span, I don't think the lifespan of Bitcoin should be emphasized, because people are making money from Bitcoin all over the world, so how I don't think Bitcoin might even lose it value, even if it will, it won't be anytime soon...

And the value of bitcoin depends on human demand, the higher the demand while the supply is finite, the value will always increase. Bitcoin has a lifespan, and it all depends on us, if we still need it in our life, it will never go away. But in the future, there will be a better technology that attracts us, and we don't need it anymore, that will be the end of bitcoin. But I think there's no need to think about that because it's not going to happen anytime soon, maybe hundreds of years from now, and we won't be alive anymore.
1287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of holding Bitcoin in time of crisis on: February 18, 2023, 09:57:41 AM
~~~
In time of crisis and people have no way to earn money, I do not think people will hold on their Bitcoin when they don't have money to spend for their needs, they will eventually cash out to pay for rents and bills.  I am not negative about holding Bitcoin but I am just saying the obvious when crisis arises, unless you have lots of money that you do not need to touch your cryptocurrency holdings.
I agree with you, we should not ignore the fact that during the economic crisis of 2022, bitcoin has dropped in value and it cannot fight inflation. If you have a lot of money, then a crisis happens, bitcoin drop is a golden opportunity for us to accumulate more bitcoins, but if we are in financial difficulty holding bitcoins will only make matters worse. If someone saved all their wealth in bitcoin and during last year's crisis when bitcoin dropped more than 70% in value, I think they would fall into despair rather than bitcoin save them from inflation. Bitcoin is only an investment and not a fiat alternative under any circumstances.
1288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 17, 2023, 08:09:12 PM
Bayern Munich has been playing really well. If we talk about the Champions League, I think I have to say that the advantage that they are going to have to go in the second leg is really good for them. Especially because it is going to be a home match for Bayern Munich.  So they have a really good chance of beating PSG in my opinion. And that is going to be a big chance for them to advance in the Champions League tournament.
You know, there is nothing much to be said about them in the Bundesliga. Because they are absolutely dominating and in first place on the table. Now there is a chance that Union Berlin is actually going to give them a little bit of competition. But I don't think that is going to last long.
Bayern Munich really have a chance for the Champions League title also. But I'm not sure how consistent they would be without a complete striker like Lewandowski in the team.
I know that they have come a really good way so far without filling his place in the team. They even defeated PSG in France which was amazing to see. But their scoring skills aren't very consistent. Sometimes they play like this and sometimes they have big problems on scoring even one goal. Then they feel the need of a top striker I think. I can't even be sure of their performance in the second leg against PSG but we will see.
The German ecole is very strong though. That's what I admire about Bayern Munich the most. Even when they lose a very important player they somehow find a way out eventually.  Smiley
1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen in a deflationary hoarding scenario? on: February 17, 2023, 08:02:05 AM
This scenario can't happen, people invest in bitcoin to make a profit, so when they get a profit or need money, they will have to sell their bitcoin. And if the demand for bitcoin increases, those who want to own it will pay a high price to buy it, and those who want to take a profit will sell it. Just like what is happening now, there will always be daily trading, there will never be people just accumulating, holding, and not selling. Everyone's life needs are never the same.
1290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have always wanted to ask this about bitcoin on: February 17, 2023, 07:35:13 AM
I do not agree, people who plan to make money on bitcoin need volatility at different distances. But a very large proportion of people use bitcoin as a means of payment for goods and services. In this case, for such people, the simplicity and speed of transactions that Bitcoin offers are important. Volatility for them is just a side factor.
If bitcoin were stable from the beginning and remained a decentralized currency, there would still be users, but bitcoin users would not be as many as they are now, just a few interested in bitcoin. I believe 99% of the participants in this market are for bitcoin profit, bitcoin volatility is the main factor that makes people interested in bitcoin and not a secondary factor. Including you are investing in bitcoin for its profits, not its technology.
1291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 17, 2023, 02:50:44 AM
Regularly going with 5-6 runs per over clearly shows that now Poms have no interest in a traditional way of playing test cricket, where batters used to grind all day. One can argue that under previous leadership they lost so many matches that they don't trust their defense anymore and adopted an ODI approach in test cricket. At the same time no one can deny that it's very exciting to watch and under Baz-Ben's leadership, this method turned out to be very successful. Aussies will have a tough time in the upcoming Ashes.
Isn't it better to score quickly by losing some wickets rather than scoring slowly by losing quick wickets? England has batted in the aggressive style against New Zealand in the first innings. England has whitewashed New Zealand in 2022 test series by playing in the aggressive mode. I think we are going to see the repetition of that series again. New Zealand is in under pressure now by losing the 3 wickets quickly.
you are right England's batsmen played well in the 2022 Test series and managed to win every match in the series. And in this series too, we are seeing the same kind of gameplay from the England team. The pitch is not batting-friendly. So England's batting was quite good. Since the pitch is not batting-friendly, now teams should aim to score runs by any means.
New Zealand batsmen are not able to play well. Although Devon Conway played well, no other batsmen could support him. Devon Conway remains unbeaten with 66 runs. And at the moment, New Zealand's collection is 127 runs with the loss of 5 wickets.
1292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: February 17, 2023, 02:44:31 AM
The match was tight until the 16 again. But in the 17th over of Rubel Hossain, the whole game turned. Rubel Hossain gave 23 runs in this important offer. Comilla reached the port of victory with 4-balls in hand. However, after overcoming the pressure, Johnson Charles left the field after confirming the title.
Shanto and Mushfiqur batted very well, their performance was enough to give a good target. But Sylhet has lost the match for some poor bowling performance. Tanzim Sakib had given 21 runs in the second over, he gave 50 runs from his 4 overs. Then Rubel Hossain gave 23 runs in the 17th over, which had changed the game completely. Comilla Victorians was favourite in the final match as they won against Sylhet Strikers in the play-off round and in the group stage.
Comilla Victorians won the bpl trophy they deserved it as they have played extremely good throughout the tournament.  Johnson Charles played an outstanding innings throughout and today he is also declared player of the match.
Sylhet's 175 runs in the final match is very difficult, Mushfiqur Rahim and Nazmul Hasan Shanto have played the most important role.  In terms of batting, these two batsmen have played one of the most important roles for the team.  Sylhet Strikers were in good form till the 16th over but Comilla Victorians took a step ahead when they scored 23 runs in the 17th over.  Comilla Victorians were under no pressure from the wicket side which made it easy for them to win.
Sylhet managed to collect 175 runs only because of Shanto and Mushfiq's excellent performances. It was a big enough target. Shanti scored 64 runs off 45 balls and Mushfiq scored 74 runs off 48 balls. Besides, no other batsmen on the team performed well. The performance of all bowlers except George Linda of Sylhet was bad. Sylhet could have become the champion if the bowler could have controlled bowling.
Liton Das batted very responsibly from the beginning of the innings. Although the target was big, he played very well. He collected 55 runs off 39 balls. After that, the Comilla team was able to win easily with the help of Johnson's 52-ball 79 runs
1293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 16, 2023, 07:40:43 PM
Of course, it would be extremely difficult for us to even understand why the fight was scored that way. At least I do not think that there is any type of agenda behind this. But what I understand is that there have been a lot of times when the judges have not scored a fight well, even if the fight once clearly turned the opposite way of what the judges were thinking.
But this fight was not scored like that. This fight was genuinely challenging to score. And it is very understandable why a lot of people might think that the fight should have ended the other way. And I am not saying that they are wrong for thinking like that.
Honestly, I think the rematch is going to clear all the doubts. Of course, if Islam Makhachev wins the rematch, it is likely to be settled. But if he doesn't, there will be a third fight between them.
I'm not really following much of the controversy. I'm just reacting based on what I saw that night. The longest control time Islam had was when he was on Volks back, but during that Volk protected against some very minor attempts to wrap the arms around the neck, and actually landed a lot of shots with no retaliation from Islam.
I personally, don't think you should be scoring control time when you're getting your face punched in, and not threatening anything. Fair enough if he retaliated. We always talk about damage, and how damage is the leading metric for scoring. Well, during the control times, Volk did the most damage. Volk didn't appear to be in any danger at any point in that fight, at least on the ground. There were a few big shots from Islam which definitely made Volk back up a little.
1294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Favourite MEME COINS? on: February 16, 2023, 09:51:20 AM
I was always a gem seeker, you know how it is with this low mcaps. They are x100, ×1000 or zero.
Since many years I invested in many coins, started with BTC and ETH like all of us and then some meme coins went with booming profits! Like Shiba and Doge for example.
The worthiest investment will be in Bitcoin and it is quite safer than altcoins for the preparation of the bullish era. But sometimes, I found some people who are seeking gems of altcoins that can rise up hundreds of percentages until the bullish era. But the question is, will it be the meme coins again? For, I do think that the meme coin era has ended, like what happened to DeFi, so I think that the next bullish season will not be for this kind of altcoin. Although as long as I know, investing in this kind of coin, whatever the name, gems, or shit coins is very risky and riskier than investing in top altcoins. this tends to be more gambling than investing.
Everyone has different investment preferences and I am proud that the cryptocurrency market caters to everyone's needs. If you like safe with stable profit, then bitcoin and eth are options, but if someone like risk, willing to accept loss to get x100, x1000 profit, then they have the right to try shitcoin. There is nothing wrong with calling investing in shitcoins are gambling, but its rewards are much bigger than online gambling, so instead of gambling for fun, you can also invest in shitcoins. I always encourage newbies to stay away from shicoins, but the experienced, they have a choice because they know what they are doing with their money.
By the way, memecoins have been on the market for years, even outlasting top altcoins like dogecoin. I don't think the meme trend is going away anytime soon, memes are still the ideal place for sharks to generate hype.
1295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best practices to prevent hackers from stealing our crypto assets on: February 16, 2023, 09:34:30 AM
Hardware wallet is the most important thing and the only one that can really secure your funds
Hardware wallets help you avoid online threats better than software wallets but it doesn't guarantee the security of your crypto assets if you don't know how to keep your seed phrase/private key safe. The bottom line in asset protection is for us to decide, not a hardware wallet or a software wallet. When you use any wallet, your assets will be on the blockchain, so as long as someone owns your seed phrase, they will have full rights to your assets. Don't think that hardware wallets are absolutely safe.
1296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 15, 2023, 06:04:26 PM
Why do I feel like soon this will be a political fight?  Grin I hope not.
Anyway, if Islam Makhachev is not hiding anything then he could easily end this trend about the IV issue. But I doubt he could end the replays that will be shown on Australian local sports television over and over just to prove to their people that Volkanovski won that fight. I mean, that will still fuel the fire but there's always a solution for that. A rematch.
Silence them with another win and maybe he should end it stronger to shut them up. But if Volk wins, another problem will come out, proving that he may really have cheated at that moment.
Volk needs to push harder if he badly wants it, as there are two fighters also aiming for that title after their fight. Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush.
Islam Makhachev is actually going to fight Volkanovski again. The rematch is going to happen. As far as I know, both fighters have agreed for the rematch. And I think it is going to be one hell of a rematch. And of course, the Australian media is going to try to say that their player won the fight. He is Australian, so the Australian media is going to support him. And I do not think that is a problem. And as long as he does get the rematch, I do not think there will be any problems at all.
Now if Islam Makhachev will be able to get another when over him? I think that is quite questionable. Because the first one was very close.  Islam Makhachev will have to train very well for the rematch.  Otherwise, it is going to be a loss for him in my opinion.
The more I watch it, the more I feel he was unlucky not to get the win. Out struck Makhachev, landed the more significant shots, including dropping Islam. Then, Islam gets a few takedowns, and doesn't do anything with them. Most of his control time came from the one round, where Volk was not in trouble one bit, and in fact did more damage while being mounted from the back than Islam did. Islam didn't even threaten submissions, so the control time shouldn't been mitigated due to the fact of not offering anything, other than getting punched in the face.
Then, Volk gets some control time, and actually does damage with it. I had him up 3-2, and I thought those rounds were fairly convincing by him. I can see why he feels hard done by, and apparently Islam was saying in his corner he wants the rematch, and looking back at the announcement of the winner, you can see Islam isn't really expecting his name to be called.
I think most people who goes, and watches that back without much bias will see Volk winning the fight.
The fight was really close. And I think the judges actually did well to score the fight. Now I also believe that this fight could have gone either way. But now I think as there is a controversy going on that probably Volkanovski was robbed, we are subconsciously being very careful about the mistakes that Islam Makhachev makes but not being careful about the mistakes that Volkanovski made while watching the highlight.
1297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 15, 2023, 06:03:39 PM
From now on Milan's main target is going to be finishing the season in top four. They can't do better than that anymore as they have started a very poor form. This bad form has thrown them out of top four already. But they aren't away from the upper teams by far either. They need to make the needed improvements in defense and offense both to recover their solid performance again. The Champions League is back as well of course and they have two places to focus on now.
However I don't think they will care about the Champions League more than the Serie A. Because there is no way they are winning the Champions League title in the end. They shouldn't risk their chance of qualifying for the Champions League again. The win over Tottenham should be some help for them to get up and fight.
AC Milan is lucky to be able to beat Tottenham in the Champions League match. I don't think Milan is the favorite in this match. Also, I don't think Milan's players performed very well in the whole match. The performance of Milan players was similar to previous matches. I have not seen any improvement in their performance. Fortunately, Milan took the lead in the seventh minute of the match. Due to this, they were able to secure the victory by playing a defensive strategy.
No team in Serie A is currently competing for the title. It is almost certain that Napoli will win the title. The teams are now fighting to qualify for the Champions League. If AC Milan do not play well in their upcoming matches, they will not be able to qualify for the Champions League.
1298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: February 15, 2023, 05:59:08 PM
I expect Benfica to win today. Club Brugge has had great success coming this far, but their chances of making it to the next round are very low. Benfica is one of the well-established clubs of Portugal and they are doing very well in their league this season. They advanced as leader from a very difficult group. I think they are the side that is close to the quarter-finals.
In the match between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, it's very difficult to predict who will win. Dortmund is much better in form but Chelsea made important signings and those signings were for this trophy. They're not doing well in Premier League, maybe they can focus more here.
The Benfica team is at the top of the table in the Primeira Liga. They are playing very well this season. Even in the Champions League group stage matches, Benfica's performance was very good. This team is capable of consistently playing well in every match. On the other hand, Club Brugge's situation is not good now. They have lost four and won just one of their last five matches. So even though it's Brugge's home match, I consider Benfica as the favourite.
Compared to Chelsea, Dortmund's overall situation is now very good. Chelsea are not in form. They are not playing well now. Chelsea have won just one of their last five Premier League matches. On the other hand, Dortmund's situation is now stable. This match will be a draw or Dortmund will win. I don't see Chelsea winning.
....
Celtics is a team that is not dependent on certain players. They are a team that can rely on any player. Almost all of the players in the team have the capability to play well when needed. And that is a certain type of depth that every team aspires to have, Now that is what they are showing. Even without too very important players in the team, they are performing really well and also winning games.
Their roster is deeper than most teams that's for sure. It's keeping them at the top of the table during regular season and that also helped them in the previous years. The thing is that I wouldn't say they can rely on any player on games that matters the most. They lost the finals last season because their top player has been guarded pretty well.
The biggest change that they have brought is now they can still perform even if the best players that they have in the team are heavily guarded. We just saw them win a match without two of the most important players that they have. That speaks volumes for itself. And that is the reason why they are performing so well.
Who is this Sam Hauser from the Celtics? Cheesy The name isn't that popular, but he scored more than 10 points in his last 4 games.
I thought he's here for a long time. Actually he wasn't drafted at all and joined NBA only in 2021 when he was already 24 years old. We can say that's very ambitious for him to not give up and reach NBA level. He got three-year, $6 million contract from Celtics.
He has potential, when they give him time he showed that. For example four months ago he scored 24 points and recorded a career high.
When Brown was missing and Smart was still injured, players like Hauser show up. We saw that last night. Tatum was awful but Celtics still got the win with the help of Hauser, White, Horford and even Muscala.
He is probably in the Boston Celtics for 2 years now if I am not wrong. But I do not think that he has been as consistent like he is right now ever before. And that is why I believe a lot of people actually do not know who he is. And I absolutely agree that he has potential. He is a big reason why Celtics even won the last game. Hauser is having a decent average right now. And I think if he is given enough time and opportunities, he is going to become a very valuable player.
Liverpool may be willing to sell 'superstar' players, including Egypt forward Mohamed Salah, 30, this summer. Salah has almost become an icon and legend of the club all these years and it is somewhat unexpected that he will leave the club. Is it a good decision by the club?
Liverpool look to be on a downward slope already with their very bad performance this season, if their coach moves to Real Madrid and players like Salah and Nunez aho just joined leave as well, it will be a while before Liverpool will be Liverpool again, they will struggle for a while to adapt to the changes. If Klopp moves to Real Madrid, there is a likelihood that he will be able to lure and bring players he is used to like Salah to Real Madrid.
If he leaves to join Real Madrid, it will be a huge blow to the team. After assembling a strong team to this point, disassembling them now would be a huge loss for the team. We don't know if he'll accept the offer to join them, but if he does, leaving the team with those players will make it difficult for the team to continue strong as before, plus those players may face some new challenges at the new club, but since he'll be the new head coach, he'll find a way to fix them in even if he has to sell some existing players of the club after he joins them.
If Klopp goes to Real Madrid, I'm almost sure he'll bring Salah.  Real Madrid is not a team to be rejected.  They are one of the most valuable and respected teams in the history of world football.  We may see Salah if Klopp leaves, but I don't think he will mind Nunez because Nunez fell short of expectations.  Instead, they can make attempts to get Haaland.  Of course, we are only talking about possibilities, in reality there is no such situation at the moment.
All of these are theories. None of these has an actual base. I know they are just possibilities and I think these things are possible to happen. But at the moment I do not see any reason why these are going to happen. Cost of all I do not think Liverpool will let go of Salah. He is really a valuable player for them to let go right now. And Liverpool is also not performing well. At this moment it is not going to be very wise to let go of a player who has been with the team for a long time.
Again,  I understand what you are trying to say, and I also understand that all of these are possible. But I do not believe these are very probable.
