LOL.. when I first saw this thread, not even in my wildest dreams I imagined that it will stay alive up to the very end of the competition. To be fair, I wasn't expecting any of the African teams to progress from the group stage. And now we have Morocco who will play tomorrow against Croatia for the 3rd place. And it is going to benefit them financially as well. If they end up with the 3rd price, they will receive $27 million. Even in case they lose, there is no need to get disappointed. The fourth placed team will be getting $25 million from the FIFA.
African teams have always been underrated because of their inability to lift the world cup trophy so it's not a new thing if no one expected the African teams to get to this point. The referee awarded a penalty to Argentina when he should not have done so and Croatia never managed to gt back in the game.
Croatia 1 - 1 Morocco 37 minutes ongoing... Croatia has much better team coordination than Morocco, according to my personal opinion, so I will be supporting them in this match against Morocco. I think that one of the main reasons for Croatia's success is the midfield. Luka Modric has to be among the top players in this entire tournament, especially given the combination of Kovačić and Brozović. Morocco, however, seems to have a really capable defense in my opinion, as they have upset big teams such as Spain and Germany due to their defense.
