my wallet just shut down almost before it was synced ?
now when i try to reopen it it closes down after i type in passphrase and click proceed, does it shut down as well if i type wrong password?
No, I think it should prompt you that the password was wrong and try again. That sucks  There's not really any way to save the wallet state before it's finished syncing, afaik. I've never heard of that shutting down behavior before though. Maybe try to open it in simplewallet directly and see what's going on? |

why do i still have to sync up from scratch?
I thought this is the reason to use a light wallet, so i don't need to download the whole chain ?
You don't sync the blockchain, but your wallet has to scan each block to look for transactions, so it has to request the blocks from a local or remote daemon. In newer versions of simplewallet you can only scan from the time the wallet was created, which would be way faster for new wallets, but this hasn't been released in a binary yet I don't think. |

Yes. Buyer soaks up coins at price minimum for months then pumps price and dumps on polo trollboxers trying to ride the wave. If they get idiots buying at 5x the price they've been soaking up coins at, then they only need to dump 20% of their stash before it's all profit. |

Not too mention that all the exchanges have already switched to latest version, so they'd have nowhere to trade their classic coins. Color me skeptical that exchanges such as poloniex would list both coins  |

I watch it when I can, but at 3:30am when it got stalled I was sleeping ...... H. Is it just due to the daemon crashing? I noticed the daemon crashes not too infrequently on win10, but if you're running on linux you could just put it on an upstart job or something. |

I don't understand the Dev subsidy even though they have around 800k from the premine. Though i really like this Coin. I think the dev subsidy is open to anyone to claim for projects that the devs and community agree need to get completed. For instance, there was payouts the first ten or so stake pools that got online, because that was a feature/service that many people wanted, but that work wasn't done by the core development team I don't think. |

Just a couple of questions for dNote: 1. How do PaymentIDs work and how do you get them? 2. What changes when you make the level of anonymity more? 3. Can you send XDN along with a message? 4. When you change the level of anonymity it changes the mixin or ring size - the number of other TX outputs that yours is mixed with when sending. 3. I don't think so. 4. What is the point of any blockchain? What is the point of life on earth? Why does the universe exist? Jk, I would say it is to serve as the basis for an anonymous digital currency that allows for on and off chain messaging. |

Apparently a lot of people care. Im sorry that you are still in denial about ETC, but it is very real. You ETH guys have been in denial since day 1 and you are now starting to come into terms as more and more people go from ETH to ETC. Nobody wants to run smart contracts in a blockchain that can hard fork over lost funds. Isn't it obvious how dumb that is? Who wants to run smart contacts? Where are the applications? One guy selling 50 W of solar power in Brooklyn? For all the hype, I don't remember seeing much in the way of applications. I'm not a fan of ETH due to the distribution model and promise to fork to PoS (and now hard fork stuff too), but I'm not really a fan of ETC either since it inherits ETH distribution (plus hacker has 10%), and I just don't see the application ecosystem developing for either fork. It seems way overhyped and overpriced for having delivered almost nothing useful besides on chain provably fair ponzis, afaik. But hey, I'm usually wrong, so you guys should probably go all in |
