1841  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: January 23, 2024, 06:31:49 PM
Can anyone please try to use the website and tell me if you both see that the maximum amount of XMR allowed is 0?
Currently, there's a much higher limit. See under "Reserves": when they're out, they'll need someone to exchange the opposite direction first.
1842  Other / Meta / Re: [Voting 2023] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: January 23, 2024, 04:01:08 PM
  • Hero of Good: You. I know I'm painting outside of the box here, but let's throw in a cliche: "be the change you want to see"!
  • Golden Feather: o_e_l_e_o stands out with his contributions and knowledge on Bitcoin.
  • Bitcointalk Ninja: PowerGlove has contributed a lot to the forum by creating long-overdue patches. And that's even without implementing all his patches.
  • Bitcoin Geek: gmaxwell He doesn't post that much, but when he does, it's spot-on.
  • Event of the Year: Farewell, by o_e_l_e_o. I know I'm "cheating", because this happened after 2023, but it has a bigger impact on the forum than anything that happened in 2023. Most of the time things I read online don't get to me, this did. You will be missed.
  • Fail of the Year: Ratimov's unnecessary drama in which he completely destroyed the reputation and posts he worked so hard for. It looks like his ego couldn't handle a small dent, and he went to extremes.
  • Discovery of the Year:
  • Best SpamBuster: nutildah, for his fight against AI spam bots. The unlimited amount of spam can destroy online communities for humans.
  • Best ScamBuster: I'm not following the scam-accusations much.
  • Craft Master: icopress (OP!). Despite being in a war-torn country, you manage to run several signature campaigns, take care of campaign members when a campaign closes by moving them into another campaign, and still manage to run the Bitcointalk Community Awards.
  • AntiHero:
  • Miss Bitcointalk: Foxpup. Who else Smiley

I may or may not add more details later. I kept postponing this because I'm still feeling ill, but the deadline is closing in.

Since ~ you put me in your ignore list
You're not on my Ignore list.

Quote
those threats on telegram became constant.
How does my Ignore list have anything to do with whatever happens on scammers' paradise Telegram?

Quote
I could hardly tolerate those.
You're anonymous online, right? Who cares what someone tells you, just (lol) Ignore them. I still don't get why you'd stop using Bitcointalk because of threats on Telegram. It sounds like you should stop using Telegram.
1844  Economy / Reputation / Re: What is going on??? on: January 23, 2024, 03:22:49 PM
I guess that my problem started after downloading a crack for a video format converter program.
People still do that? Shocked
I barely dare install official wallet software on my main systems. Why don't you run those cracks in an isolated environment instead of giving them access to your passwords?
1845  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: January 23, 2024, 12:29:22 PM
Bisq has been around since December 2014, with over 200 contributors and also connects through Tor by default.
However, I confess that it feels a bit more complicated than an instant exchange running in the browser.
The main problem I have with decentralized software like Bisq, is that it's software. I prefer to install as few programs as necessary, and don't want to go through the hassle of using a VM all the time.
1846  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [CHALLENGE] Run A Bitcoin Node: 14 Days To 14 Merits on: January 23, 2024, 08:42:36 AM
That was exactly what I thought.
Let's find out Smiley I've started a new Bitcoin Core sync, pruned to 200 GB. I'll let it run until let's say 2010. Then I'll turn off pruning.

Update: after disabling pruning and restarting Bitcoin Core, it continued the sync where it was. So disabling pruning should work, as long as you still have all blocks. Maybe you can check if you have blk00000.dat in your blocks directory.
1847  Economy / Reputation / Re: What is going on??? on: January 23, 2024, 08:38:24 AM
So the issue seems to be infostealer malware targeting Bitcointalk users.
How do they get infected? If it's targeted attacks, they must know how to get the user to install the malware.
1848  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [CHALLENGE] Run A Bitcoin Node: 14 Days To 14 Merits on: January 23, 2024, 08:19:16 AM
I wanted to change it but just saw the message that deactivating pruning I will have to download the whole blockchain again.
That is the case if the blockchain actually was pruned. Assuming you still have all the blocks, that shouldn't be necessary. I've never tested disabling pruning before it's pruning though.
1849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is with these Bitcoin blocks? on: January 23, 2024, 08:05:05 AM
Each node would also see a different set of valid blocks.
Good point. Mostly ignoring the block time was a very good idea Smiley
1850  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sharing for Bitcoin Core download: the cheapest pay-per-hour VPS I found. on: January 22, 2024, 08:34:30 PM
wasn't the data downloaded by bitcoin core more than allocated DISK space on your virtual machine?
I used pruning.

Quote
And knowing there is over 500gb of the blockchain to be downloaded as of today, do I ignore specs from VPS being listed and go for it or do I need to match up the data required for a full sync to complete..?
The data limits were added after I wrote that post. It says you'll pay "$1 per extra 1TB", which is like $0.50 for the full blockchain.
1851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [CHALLENGE] Run A Bitcoin Node: 14 Days To 14 Merits on: January 22, 2024, 06:43:35 PM
I have been trying to think of ways to make sure that all the people who ran the node for 14 days will still run it from now on. I don't know how, except for sending some merit if they show you a screenshot every week. But of course this is just a suggestion.
I can think of many reasons to run Bitcoin Core, but weekly Merit isn't one of them.
1852  Economy / Reputation / Re: Wasabi, Kruw, users and supporters of their low morals on: January 22, 2024, 06:35:20 PM
Kruw is in the contributors' list of wasabi: https://github.com/zkSNACKs/WalletWasabi/graphs/contributors. In his profile, you can see he has forked both WasabiWallet and WasabiDoc. He even reviews pull requests if you check the PR history. And of course he replies to issues. So there is no doubt he is involved in Wasabi Wallet.
Playing devil's advocate here: Isn't the way Github works that anyone can add "commits"? If they're accepted, that doesn't mean the guy works for the project, nor does it mean the project shares his views. It just means he made 7 out of >30,000 "commits".
1853  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lost My Telegram on: January 22, 2024, 05:17:46 PM
create an Anonymous  section
That's called an alt account, it's allowed.
1854  Other / Meta / Re: We do no get notification for trust feedback? on: January 22, 2024, 04:34:36 PM
If the user is not on DT, and not on your Trust list, you're not supposed to notice his feedback any time soon.
1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Generate private keys on computer without on: January 22, 2024, 12:58:26 PM
Make sure the private key generated within valid range. It should from 1 to FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFE BAAEDCE6 AF48A03B BFD25E8C D0364140. Not all software/library throw error or silently perform modulo if you enter private key outside that range.
Getting 31 Fs in a row has a chance of 1 in 21267647932558653966460912964485513216. If you hit that, it's more likely something else went wrong than that it's created randomly.
1856  Other / Meta / Re: Find a deleted post that contains a specific text on: January 22, 2024, 08:55:55 AM
I don't know how big the list of missing posts is, but it shouldn't be too big.
I expect the list of deleted posts to be very big, and you'll have to check all deleted posts to find the missing ones.
1857  Economy / Reputation / Re: What privileges does LoyceV have? on: January 22, 2024, 08:46:53 AM
I just realized that the troll Shenanigan has been banned from our forum.
Oh no, he'll now think I have even more privileges Cheesy

At least the forum will not have to put up with the Bitcoin SV account any longer if it is a permanent ban (and for a short while if it is a temporary ban).
Temporary bans aren't published in modlog.
1858  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lost My Telegram on: January 22, 2024, 08:37:31 AM
I am not really active on Bitcointalk for a long time specially after getting a lot of death threats.
Report those posts to get banned:
8. No threats to inflict bodily harm, death threats.

Quote
I somehow got banned from Telegram
This has nothing to do with Meta, move (bottom-left) this to Reputation. Or just don't use scammers' paradise Telegram.
1859  Other / Meta / Re: I wonder if the forum would be much better without signatue campaigns on: January 22, 2024, 08:32:16 AM
This forum will die if there is no signature campaign.
The fact that you registered just to post this proves otherwise Smiley
1860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Open Wallet Hangs v26.0 on: January 22, 2024, 08:24:37 AM
Nothing is written to the log file
~
Any thoughts?
Any chance Bitcoin Core doesn't have write access to the data directory?
Have you tried starting Bitcoin Core from the command line? It may show some output there.
