1901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 17, 2014, 05:23:00 PM
Finally looks like they will deliver within June.

But why don't they give some specs/info about their progress?

There is something behind.

Its quite common for them, remember what it was like on the run up to Jupiter launch?

As far as I am aware, they are still testing the boards and software to get optimal results, once they have something stable they will probably post.

Going to be an interesting week for those who have orders.

1902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 17, 2014, 05:17:22 PM
This is more possible.

I can see there is the pcb board inside with the pci plug.

But probably no chip.

Maybe, time will tell.

Probably Neptune will ship before some refunds are processed.

BITMAIN - Do not give promises,  what you can not keep.

Shipment within 48 hours after full payment. Returning customers please check your account for coupons.

Order Date: 2014-06-15 13:58:18

Status - unshipped.

And we will soon be four days of public holidays.

I paid 3.194 BTC , to arrive before the holidays.

Today you can  buy for 2.878 BTC .

Do not believe the empty promises.

If you haven't purchased from BITMAIN before then you may not realise that its common for you to recieve your parcel before they even have a chance to update their web site to say its shipped.

Bear in mind that 13:58 your time might be the middle of the night China time (unless of course you are in China) then you can give them a little leeway.

Have you tried emailing them before throwing your toys out of the pram here? (Bear in mind its the middle of the night there now)
1904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 17, 2014, 05:12:42 PM
How many PCI cables needed?
This is more or less 200Amp, or 10-12 pci 6 pin connectors?

2100W under a single fan?
Can those heat amounts be dissipated through that small construction?

Also, how is the heat being dissipated from the chip?

Water cooling? Or ? ? ?

I'd guess that 5 of those boxes makes a full neptune, so 3000/5=600GH per box. 600*0.7W/GH = 450W per box.

You are in Romania right?

Are they shipping direct from China or are you doing pickup or delivery from CH?

Thanks

1908  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: any. thoughts on bit solo mining pool on: June 17, 2014, 08:15:10 AM
Came across this site was wanting to solo mine my s1 there if I can can ever get it running(long story)they claim to give the founder of a block the full 25 minus transaction fees for pool as well they are merged mining namecoin and keeping any name coin found for keeping pool up and running

If you are talking about the solo pool set up by Ozcoin, They are legit.

He's not, he's talking about this:
http://bitsolo.net/

Oh, i thought he meant solopool.net. This is why people need to be clear about what they are asking. We can't read minds.

Solo mining is really nothing more then using your machine as a lottery ticket unless you have a significant portion of the network hashrate.
what  r the odds?

If you have a miner that has 3.1 TH/s of capacity then it will likely generate one block every 14 days. If that miner has less then 100% luck then the difficulty would increase, and further decreasing the average time between blocks, making it take longer, on average to find a block. These are not specific odds but should show why solo mining is not advisable.

I think to effectively solo mine you have to have enough hash power to be able to squeeze at least one or two blocks in between difficulty increases (10 days) otherwise you will just be chasing your tail as difficulty increases will just spin out the time you take to find a block faster than you can find them. (e.g. 14 days)

Anyone having a sudden problem connecting to Eligius with their miners?  I just had all of my miners with Eligius as the primary pool, all go to the secondary pool.  I spent the last 15 mins making sure everything was good here but since all connections to the secondary pool worked fine and the miners that do not have Eligius as the primary pool all have continued mining without interruption.

I still have some of the miners showing Eligius as dead and others that keep going back and forth with Eligius and the secondary server.

Nope all good here

Which proved nothing, no machine shown hashing, just a "prototype" of a case.

I don't get it, you guys aren't stupid, you know that you would get a boatload of orders if you just showed a working machine but you just refuse to do it.

Which means you are either really really stupid businessmen and don't deserve our custom, or you are charlatans who don't have a product and are trying to rip off the unwary.
1911  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: June 17, 2014, 07:50:21 AM
All my block eruptors are off-line and all my GPUs are going off-line tonight.

Thanks to Black Arrow I've lost thousands in this venture and I'm no longer in the mining business.

If you have been using block eruptors and GPUs then you haven't actually been in the mining business for a while.

No not that long, I started in October last year. It was profitable enough that I decided to go all-in and get some real hashing power in November.

It's now June and I'm up Shit Creek without a paddle.

Maybe should have sold those block erupters and gpus in recent months and got some Antminers.

Any chance of obtaining a review unit ?

+1 I'd trust Xian01's review if it ever happens.

But even then Escrow is the way to go really.

1916  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Define "ROI"... "Profit"... on: June 16, 2014, 12:56:07 PM
People often use ROI in the wrong context especially in mining.

ROI is a measure of efficiency. It has a simple formula:

ROI = (Gains – Cost)/Cost

So in our situation it would be BTC mined - cost of miner / cost of miner

Anything you earn from mining is a Return On your Investment, even 0.000001BTC is a ROI

It will be a negative ROI until you reach equilibrium with your investment cost. Then ROI becomes zero (e.g. you bought a miner for 1BTC, you mined 1BTC) the ROI equation of (1BTC - 1BTC)/1BTC equals 0

Once your return equals the amount you invested you have reached Break Even or zero ROI

Anything over Break Even is Profit or positive ROI

If the price is sub $1500 (inc delivery) and hosting is reasonably priced I'd be interested in 2
1918  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY][CH + EU] SCRYPT & SHA256 Miner (Hosting & Versand) New Products! on: June 15, 2014, 02:06:59 PM
OK so $1650, then if you have to ship to an EU country we have to add another 20% or more on top? Plus shipping from Switzerland?

Would it not be better to get it shipped direct from China to the final destination?

VAT doesn't cumulate ... you would only have to pay 20% on the original price ... however it might be possible to ship straight from china ...

Hosting is 2-3% of the hashpower + electricity cost (around 0.15$ KWh)

OK so what would be a great help to everyone, I am sure, would be if you could quote full costs to the end purchaser, in a couple of situations.

By full costs I mean product + tax + shipping

1. 1 x A1 Miner delivered to you and picked up from CH by customer
2. 1 x A1 Miner delivered to you then shipped to customer
3. 1 x A1 Miner shipped directly to the customer from the manufacturer
4. 1 x A1 Miner purchased from you and hosted at your colo.

Shouldn't be too hard, lets say the customer is in the EU, say UK to make things simple.

This should help you sell more because you are being open and forthright about the full cost to the consumer.

Many thanks
1919  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] 5TH/s BTC Olympus ZEUS Bitcoin Mining Rig Open for Sale. on: June 15, 2014, 01:46:20 PM
Not necessarily, they could just be using the BTC they accumulated to "pretend" to have a physical mine.

Until you see proof (video) of the equipment mining in a datacentre and the blockchain showing that the coins paid out were actually minted rather than just bought and sold, until then its just a sad ponzi scam.
1920  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MinerTechnologies.com - 3 TH/S and 200MH/S ASM1 for sell / Cloud contracts. on: June 15, 2014, 01:38:24 PM
Thing is when you don't actually have any hardware to mine on, your ponzi scheme requires constant influx of coin from new suckers, or you need good luck on the markets to make some profit in coins to pay off your "cloud miners" "earnings"
