There are many projects asking investors to stake their tokens for APY but they collapsed later for example Midas, they offered 17% APY on USDC, the token went from 38$ to 0 and their swap feature is shut down..

You shouldn't be patronizing any service that's centralized, they only have one fate which is collapsing and this can be caused from hacks or bad choices by the founders of the project just as we saw with the founder CEO of FTX exchange (Sam Bankman-Fried). You sending coins to this platforms only means you're giving up the ownership of your coins for some APY that mightn't be worth it due to the whole market dipping in price.

The example by the OP is just one of the few ones that have left many people bankrupt this season. Avoid getting deceived by this promises by the project and just invest in well established project like Bitcoin that doesn't rely on the CEO for your investment to be profitable. During the bear market, lots of projects will collapses so it's best you stay away fro patronizing any service irrespective of them been decentralized or centralized.

1943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: December 28, 2022, 07:20:51 PM
Chelsea needs to be more clinical in their finishing. They played incredibly well in the first half, but because James was injured and couldn't play in the second, they played horribly. Chelsea prevailed in nearly every game James played. Chelsea seems to lose or draw a match if James is not featured in the match. If Chelsea wants to top the Premier League table, they must find a better James substitute.

This is exactly what I have been saying, Chelsea attack is relying on Reece James too much just as Liverpool once relyed on Trent but have grown passed that now. If Chelsea's want to compete for something this season then they need to change their game plan and stop replying on wingback to create chances for them. Already Reece James is now likely ruined out of the season and we need get someone with same ability as he does to hold down that right wing back.

Better creative midfielders should be bought and the current ones sold because they lack creativity in them. Our strikers can't score goals because they aren't getting enough assistance or chance creation. We have changed multiple striker and the result always comes out bad which means the strikers aren't the problem instead they lack quality providers of the chances to score.
1944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 28, 2022, 06:14:21 PM
They also need to hasten up with the signature of Declan Rice from West Ham he is the replacement for Ngolo Kante since they're not offering him a contract extension. As per the potentials of Fofana I haven't really checked if I have i must have forgotten, bit the premier league ain't no easy league, I hope he gets the message.

What about Zakaria, he's a defensive midfielders and not over priced as Declan Rice beside, majority of English players are overated. We already have them plenty at the club and that's enough (we don't need more). It sad to me that injury has spoiled Kante career as he's now a shadow of himself. He isn't the Kante that we knew few years back and thankfully he has won almost all there's possible to win. If I were him I'll just retire instead of going to stress myself more and probably cause a long term life injury to my body.

Chelsea is doing the right thing not extending his contract as he's more of a liability to the team then assets. I think Graham Potter should give Zakaria a chance instead of going to get more midfielder when we have more than enough at the club that aren't even getting enough playing time. Zakaria was decent in his last outing and if given more chance, I'm sure he'll impress both the coach and fans.
1945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: December 28, 2022, 05:17:30 PM
Dortmund - Chelsea is another interesting matchup to me.

Because I believe that this is a matchup between two close teams in strength these days. I think like this because of seeing Chelsea's inadequate performance in the recent times. However they have made a really good return by their Bournemouth game last. It was a completely one-sided game and an easy win.

It was one sided until Reece James was substituted out of the field in the second half of the game, you could noticed the Bournemouth side starting advancing from the right wing since they knew James was no longer present. keep closed eye on Reece James as without him in the starting lineup in this game I doubt Chelsea can get something from it. When Reece James is injuried, Chelsea performance drops and we can see this in the games before the world cup break.

Reece James is arguably Chelsea best player this season, Mason mount has been average and this has contributed to our poor form recently. I think this game is the most  unpredictable match since the win can go both ways. I'm a Chelsea fans and I'll favour my club over another even when the odds are against us. I think Chelsea wins this and if Reece James was to be available for this game then we destroy them both home and away and mightn't even concede in both games.
1946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: December 28, 2022, 05:06:49 PM
Results from the games yesterday:

Both Chelsea and Manchester United managed to win their home games yesterday and will keep up the chase for Champions League places.

I don't think anyone expected anything less, this is just the first game after the break so most top side are expected to win their games. Yesterday game doesn't determine the fate of the clubs for the rest of the season. They might have been good yesterday but might play badly for the rest of the season. Chelsea didn't impressive me much as they're still missing lots of clear chances that they should've scored and sealed the game on time.

Reece James fitness is also a doubt as he was substituted after having a minor injury, his presence on the field made the squad look promising and immediately he was taken off the momentum changed in favor of Bournemouth. Manchester united on the other hand played very well without Ronaldo leading the line which means he was never needed and the team would be better without him (let see where they end up this season).

See as your OP dey decent but the title no be am, When writing a thread, the title matters alot, see as I almost missed this discussion because the title no interest me at all. Make your title interesting so people pick interest in the discussion. If na me write this thread I for write "The high increase of insecurities in Nigeria, how do we combat this?. This kind title go already attack people into interacting with the thread to give their suggestions on how to stop the high rate of insecurities or give opinion on wetin the government for do to fight insecurities for the country.

Quote
Do you think the government is doing enough to combact insecurity in the country?

Back on topic, personally I think say the government no dey do enough to help the matter, seriously ehh to reduce insecurities for the country no hard but the law enforcement officers just need to do their job well and be well equipped but that's not the case and that's because this jobs are poorly funded. How police go dey use rubbish guns to go dey fight criminals wey dey with machines. The officer aren't well trained as well which is what is leading to the misused of power by the officers (attacking innocent citizens instead of tackling those they were employed to tackle).

Quote
~what will you suggest as the way forward to combating insecurity in the country?

To get the answer to this, you gaz first ask wetin dey cause the insecurity in the first place and that's poverty and lack of education (enlightenment). If we fit tackle this things from the root there by cresting lots of job opportunities to the citizens you go see say crime go reduced for street and next we get educated our youth because many of us dey poorly enlightened. Wetin we think say good no be so.

1949  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Fuel Scarcity Discussion: NNPC sells petrol for N148; private depots, N215+ on: December 27, 2022, 07:17:46 AM

Quote
Petrol shortage has persisted yesterday across the country, as Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria, DAPPMAN, continued to sell petrol at N215 per litre to marketers. This is an excess of N67 per litre or 31 per cent when compared to N148 per litre being charged at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL depots.

Independent marketers that patronise the private depots sell the product at over N220 per litre, while the major oil marketers sell at N170 per litre at their filling stations. Checks by Vanguard showed that many filling stations across the country were shut and the ones with stock continued to sell the product to motorists and other parties at far over the official price, while the ones selling for below N200 had long queues.
Source: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/12/scarcity-nnpc-sells-petrol-for-n148-private-depots-n215/amp/

I see this story this morning e just remind me of wetin I go through yesterday to buy fuel for my side. I finally see am buy but na N270 per liter for filling station and still e no full my fuel rubber wey I been dey use N4,500 dey full before and this na N7,000k fuel I buy so oh. Abeg wetin be the problem with fuel for Nigeria for December period and how the country go fit solve this issue. Fuel Scarcity na very strong discussion for this country and our politicians no dey talk anything about am self and how them go solve am if we give them power. The thing come belike say na part of our living. Abeg how much you buy fuel recently for your area and how the supply. The scarcity reach your side?.

I no know for others but I thinks say that’s Hangout board doesn’t need to be closed, Abeg make we check am properly that hangout sub board get really contribution to us getting our own board.

The traffic on that hangout sub board choke. I was really surprised when it was closed  that place na better place where we can gather and still discuss topics in it.

If na Peter obi him go say, I got the advise from a mad man but me I no get am from a mad man instead i get am from our Snr bros Igehhh and e make sense. Make I explain, if we leave that thread open only that thread go dey active for this local board and e go make the place scanty. We want all those topics wey we been dey get on that thread to become their own thread. I no mind if we repeat this topic here as thread but e go make sense since e go bring out a broader discussion on those topics.

You notice people dun reduced engagement here, that's because interesting topic no dey available and we want to address that by encouraging the creation of topics by members. 1951  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto-friendly politicians in government. on: December 26, 2022, 08:18:14 PM
Moderator in dis board should do something b4 things go out of hand. Even di thread u didn't mention any politician dat is crypto friendly, that automatically is an off topic.

For now we no get moderator for this board, na global moderator theymos assign for us so if you see something wey you feel no dey right, report am and them go handle am. Also we never finalized for the sub thread discussion and even when we do topics like politics, Bitcoin and economy no suppose get this sub threads as them go reduced the inflow of thread creation for the board but we need am in massive form to keep the board active. Best you lock your own thread as that'll be against the progress of this board.

Politics is a very broad topic that shouldn't be assigned to one thread, make we welcome all kind of discussion so we go get wetin we fit they talk on but make them no be low quality. As for OP, the reason you no dey see any politician talk about cryptocurency dis time around na because this year isn't crypto friendly and people no even they reasons the industry that much for the global space. Secondly you wan win election and you dey carry matter wey grass root no know dey campaign? Belike you never ready to win election.
1952  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Banks and Crypto currency related issues. on: December 26, 2022, 03:23:13 PM
We have BVN that all banks are demanding for during registration which can link all your bank accounts that you have with different banks. There is possibility that if one of your account is freezed, be it commercial or microfinance bank, all other bank accounts that you are having in Nigeria will be freezed at once. While doing registration on Microfinance bank, like Kuda, BVN and KYC are requested for as well, just like how it is when using a commercial bank.

All banks can't just closed your account without you commiting a seriously offense that demand your account details to be frozen. If kuda observe say you dey into crypto trading, dey can close your account while that of other banks are quite active. Excluding high profile users that the government targeted, anyhow users wey dey involved in the business, accounts weren't closed and only specific banks that notice your involvement in the space by either you or your  other party indicating that you're doing a crypto transaction did their account get closed but it didn't affect other account especially when they're microfinance banks.

Quote
Even if crypto is regulated by NSEC, that does not mean CBN will not follow their own stance, CBN will not still allow any bank to make any direct involvement in anything pertaining to cryptocurrencies, like investment.

Na dis country we go dey see say banks get Bitcoin and other cryptocurency for their balance sheet, e no go happen now but definitely in future it'll. I remember when MMM first start wey all banks were preaching against it but there came a time almost all the bankers in Nigeria got involved and there were statement of them receiving more customers during the peak of the ponzi scheme. U think say dem no like better thing too.

1954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: December 25, 2022, 10:19:28 PM
Bayern Munich is a team that is a great opponent against any big team. All the players in the team play a very responsible game and have a great understanding among all. Currently, one of the best players in the team has joined Sadio Mane who will be able to perform well if he adapts to the players in the team.

No Bayern Munich aren't strong when they pay top teams instead they're superior to the smaller teams and destroys them with goals. They lack the experience to win big games as when they get to face equal teams on strength they get knocked out which is why we don't see them winning the tournament often although we hear about the goals they score their opponents when they play during the group stages.

Sadio Mane has already adopted to team which is why he's been used often that lead to his injury resulting to him missing the world cup. Sadio Mane can fit perfectly into any team due to the work rate he brings to the team. We have watched Bayern Munich play and seen how impactive Sadio Mane has been when he's on the pitch. I don't think that'll be lost when he returns from his injury instead it'll just keep getting better. I see Sadio Mane winning lots of trophys with the current Bayern Munich team and the champions league might just be one of them.
1955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 25, 2022, 10:10:55 PM
But I am not so sure that by doing all these, the problem that they have of scoring goals is going to be fixed. and I actually think the biggest factor which is holding them back right now is their own coach.

So if I may asked, what do the club need to do to solve their lack of goal problem. They're changing their forward since the previous ones aren't reliable but you're saying it's not going to work. What then do you want them to do, change the coach that they just appointed and haven't given time to show result. Sacking of Graham Potter won't be the solution as the club will keep on losing money if they go in that direction of the previous owner of sacking coaches.

The previous owner had personal funds that he can inject into the club but the new owners aren't as wealthy. The best the club can do is what they're doing now which is signing new players in anticipation of them delivering for the club. Every player is a gamble that might or mightn't pay off. We just have to watch how the new signings adapt to the club and we the fans can only hope for the best.
1956  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I right or wrong on: December 25, 2022, 07:51:14 PM
I will suggest all government should just joined Bitcoin because it's the best, and I just keep thanking God for the knowledge and wisdom that he gave to Satoshi about Bitcoin, the government have to personally take care of Satoshi because he is a king, one man's hearts changes the world i just keep imagining how life would have been without Bitcoin, because it has helped alot of people from trash to a better standard of living

No government will want to take care of Satoshi instead they'll want to kill him and try to get control of the power he has now and I guess Satoshi himself anticipated all this that's why he went into hiding. Bitcoin is a threat to the fiat system as if the whole world get to understand the freedom that comes from using Bitcoin, I doubt fiat will survive another decade.

I don't think the government generally will adopt Bitcoin as a means of payment instead they'll create their own currency which they're already doing with the introduction of CBDC. Government like Nigeria has already introduced the use of Enaira which they claim is better than Bitcoin and advise their citizen to use it instead of cryptocurency, if they record a success I believe other countries will follow.
1957  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips to Becoming a Successful Holder on: December 25, 2022, 11:42:02 AM
Yes. I totally agree with what you just said mentioned above, because in as much as it's not advisable to store all your crypto assets in one wallet, another important factor will be the need to properly keeping that your 12 key phrase in a safer place, as that's the only key to accessing your funds. Whereas, USDT or BUSDT can be an recommended alternative after Bitcoin

Firstly it's BUSD and not BUSDT, secondly both stablecoin (just like majority of the stablecoin available in the market) are centralized and not to be trusted for long term holding. These stablecoin just like UST can collapse at any moment or get depegged (trade below the $1 price that it was meant to be stable at). Sometimes they recover while other times they mightn't. The most recommended way to hold your profits is in Bitcoin. With Bitcoin you are assured of your funds not going to disappear as we see with the altcoins. If you aren't comfortable holding it in the space then you can go traditional with fiats.

Don't over trust any stablecoin in the industry as without the support of the community, all of them can collapse like we have seen with previous stable-like projects. As for the tips of becoming a successful holder, my advise to anyone embarking on this is to put more focused on where you store your coins as security of your assets should be your number one priority as an investor.
1958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: December 25, 2022, 09:46:23 AM
Chelsea will have to improve and they should also be able to improve their performance. You know, Chelsea did not win even one match in the last five. That is not good for them at all. I also agree that the break should be able to help them regroup. I believe that Chelsea has some very good players in the squad. But the main problem is that they have not scored good enough goals and they have also not defended well. The goal difference between Chelsea is currently zero. That is just not good enough for a team like Chelsea.

While we want the best for Chelsea we should also understand that, we're just in the first season of a successful takeover by a new owner and now we have a new coach that didn't have any training period with the whole squad, the players not taken to the world cup training with the coach isn't good enough as it means either they weren't good enough for a call up, they were injuried or their nation didn't qualify.

We can't based the success of the club in this users hands as the players that we should have hope on haven't yet had a long period to trained with the coach. The good thing though is, from the rumors and news heard, it's obvious the management are and will be active in the January transfer market to get quality players into the team. Also they shouldn't forget to let go of dead wood to create room for better players to come into the club.
1959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: December 25, 2022, 09:16:35 AM
Real Madrid are already strong, if there have a talented young striker like Mbappe then it is true that Real Madrid will be very strong, like Manchester City with Haaland. UCL is not easy at all, for any big club a small mistake can be very big. By the way I can't wait to see Bayern Munich, which have consistently won with perfect points so far, against PSG in February. Which team do you think will win?

It isn't always about having a strong squad as that without experience is nothing. This isn't the first time Manchester city are having a strong squad, since the takeover by the City Football Group Limited and Pep Guardiola, have always had a strong squad but have failed to win the tournament. Also Real Madrid didn't need a strong squad last season to win the tournament instead they had experience both on and off the field. Mbappe going to real Madrid doesn't guarantee them winning the tournament although it will strengthen their campaign because they now have more speed in the team which they can use against their opponent.

Also don't underestimate Bayern Munich, although they haven't won the title as much as Real Madrid still they're a force in the tournament and always one of the favorites. Even with losing Luwadusaksi to Barcelona, they're still one of the top scorers of the tournament meaning they don't need Luwadusaksi to win the tournament as much as people are thinking. They now have Mane which contribute alot to any team that he's playing in both off and on the ball.
1960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 25, 2022, 09:03:09 AM
I'm just not sure about Fofana's performance at Chelsea but I wouldn't like to be prejudiced either. Most probably Chelsea are thinking of him as their backup striker while there is Nkunku. But of course the performance levels can make a change in balances in the team. Fofana is a player who has performed amazingly for Molde in this season so far. He has scored quite many goals. Can he be like Jr Haaland maybe?  Tongue  One of Haaland's old teams was also Molde that's why I made that joke.  Grin

Hope you do understand that Nkunku won't be available for Chelsea until the summer which the season will be over by then. If we can't get our scoring problem settled now, of what difference does it make to the season that has started badly. Fofana is no backup to Nkunku instead a backup to Aubameyang and if he impressed the coach, he might even be a starter and then combine with Nkunku when next season begins.

If Fofana can give us 50% of what Haaland is giving Manchester city, I think we have gotten our season back on track. Chelsea lack goal scorers and all our forward are worst at converting chances or crating one themselves. Sterling that was bought to create chances has been poor this season and so has Mount and the others.
