I see in image at the top 10 cent power.

By default, many calculators use 10 cents, although WhatToMine was the first. I am sure that the author of the question will solve this problem. The new video cards 4070 and 4080 are still poorly tested in mining and the payback is very high. I would not buy these graphics cards to mine this coin.
1942  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: An honest answer on mining with solar on: January 18, 2023, 10:34:32 AM
Someone ask this question on Nigerians local board, the reason why miners are not located or negligibly located in Nigeria as a result of poor electricity supply. In Nigeria, electricity supply is poor in many areas and the only option anyone that want to mine can have is to use solar energy.

Assuming you get yourself like one or two Antminer S19 Pro, powering it with solar, will it be profitable after considering the budget and maintenance?

Those miners and solar panels are not manufactured in Nigeria, they are probably manufactured in China which will make them costly as they will be shipped.
Ideally, when the equipment does not break down, you can make a profit. But if there are no good services for servicing asics and equipment for solar panels in the country, then it is better to use electricity for your own needs, and you can buy bitcoin while it is inexpensive.

RTX4090
RTX4080
RTX4070Ti

Which one is the winner for efficieny while mining NEXApow ?

These video cards have almost the same payback, so it's probably better to buy cooler video cards. Use the calculator for more accurate calculations, I do not know the cost of your electricity. But the payback period is very high.

I have an asrock h110 still running rock solid since many years. The only thing you should watch out every 6 months is dust formation that can shorten the hardware average life.

true some dust can cause micro shorts. so a good dusting every once in a while is in order.

I'd like to add this: an higher short risk is always caused by combined factors. Dust in a smaller degree isn't a problem, but little dust + high humidity can seriously hurt the boards very quickly.

yeah true. also the actual dust/dirt content can vary.

Our warehouse has a ton of diesel trucks go in and out. So we get a dark grime and regular dust. That grime is partially made of diesel fuel.

It is conductive. So we have a lot of filters and we do a deep clean 2x a year every board a 99% Alcohol bath 2 times a year.

We finally found a better filter which has cut the grime down a lot. Between the deep cleaning and the new filters the control boards all work a lot better.
What percentage of boards do not work for you after bathing in alcohol?
I have not worked with ASICs, but with video cards, I prefer to blow through video cards and not tear them apart for no reason. But there are no diesel trucks near my farms.
1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 18, 2023, 10:11:36 AM
Ethereum continues to dominate developer activity, having increased its full-time developer count by 9% to 1,873 — which is more than the next three highest ecosystems combined: Polkadot (752), Cosmos (511) and Solana (383).
Developer counts on non-Ethereum chains are catching up though. The Cosmos and Solana networks increased 34% and 36%, respectively, while Starknet is among one of the mid-sized ecosystems to have made a solid run In 2022 with a 214% increase in developer count.

1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Massive amount of GPU returns at my local computer store... on: January 18, 2023, 10:00:18 AM
In my country, the video card can be returned within 15 days after purchase, but the video card must not be used. Some stores have extended return programs, but after the end of Ethereum mining, video cards were excluded from these programs Smiley
1947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone mining on RTX4090 already on: January 18, 2023, 09:56:30 AM
How about rtx 4090 mobile is arround the corner, chinese will make dedicated gpu for that things only 150w tdp perform like 3090 in gaming performance. Always mobile gpu lead better efficiency, the price seems to be cheaper than desktop gpus but no warranties  Grin, im looking at this

It's just a toned-down version of the desktop SKUs, you can pretty much manually tune it to get more or less the same efficiency.
It is necessary to check what results mobile chips will give when installed in desktop boards. Maybe the performance and consumption will be the same, but the price of such video cards can be much cheaper, because the video chips were used. But the guarantee for such devices is very small.

1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPUs/Motherboards AMD ZEN 3 or Higher Can Be Installed on? on: January 18, 2023, 09:49:01 AM
AMD zen 3 is 5000 series processors. I don't think there will be problems with the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor and other processors, but most models of the previous series can only be bought second-hand. The newer models consume less power but don't benefit much in computing performance.

1951  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin mining at home on: January 15, 2023, 10:31:20 AM
Actually I don't know much about the mining of bitcoin and I will like to know more about it. Well it been over a year now I have gotten into a lot of mining app and non is giving me what I wanted and I guess am not on the right mining platform.
You been at home and mining is a good one but it need you to know how to mini and to know which mining platform is correct for you to go into.
Mining at home seems to me like means of been in your house to make money for your self with going to do any hard work, just for intense what you can get from mining you cannot get it from working as a labour and mining can be done any were anytime I guess.
For bitcoin mining you can use https://www.nicehash.com/
Your processor and video card will mine other profitable coins, and you will receive a reward in bitcoins. From 1 computer, the profit is very small. And mining without equipment is like a scam.
1952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are your plans for the coming year? on: January 15, 2023, 10:25:52 AM
merge mining ltc +doge

I have 37gh pulling in 111 usd in ltc and doge

about .4 ltc and 800 doge  every day.

How many GPUs do you have mining those coins?
What is your kw cost?
For mining these coins do not use video cards. philipma1957 uses asics.
Now asics are much more profitable than mining on video cards, but the history of mining tells us that this may change. But maybe you need to wait another 1 year.

Bill Gates downplayed the growth of web3 and the metaverse, instead backing artificial intelligence as the next revolutionary technology.

In his 11th Ask Me Anything on Reddit, the Microsoft co-founder was asked whether any mammoth technology is at a similar stage now as the internet was in the early 2000s. The Redditor referenced Gates' purported comments at the time — which were similar to comments he made in a revised version of his book The Road Ahead — that the internet would be much bigger in the long term than people were expecting.

Found a gigabyte ga-h1110-d3a and asus b250 mining expert in a cupboard in work. Boss says I can have them FOC. Wondering if worth building a system around these two boards as I know they are quite old now. Dont mind doing the leg work if worth the while

Thanks in advance

Gigabyte b250 version is available but dunno about asus one, not interested they dont have dvi or vga out, only hdmi, which is not recommended for mining monitor, sometimes it wont display anything, better vga or dvi, nothing go wrong with that, pure stable
I always connected the monitor to the main video card in the first X16 slot, I did not use the integrated video card. The old monitor is connected via an HDMI-VGA adapter. If there is no image from the main video card, then I connect to another. On the case of the mining farm, I make a mark to which video card I need to connect, if necessary.
Well in my experience using onboard gpu for monitoring or applying config or testing oc, is more stable than direct using from gpu, for miner this best time to buy 2nd gpus, if in the future miner not profitable like good old day, sell the gpus with decent profit while new gpus stay expensive with fancy new features make them more expensive to build
There's no difference, to be honest Smiley If you are using a Linux system, then you are using the web interface and the Linux system uses several megabytes of video card memory. If you use windows, then one video card will use 100-200 megabytes of memory and this can affect the hashrate, as was the case with ethereum mining on 4 GB video cards.
1955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where can I find the mining data of dogecoin? on: January 14, 2023, 02:13:47 PM
Hello,

As the subject, can anyone here guide me on how to find the data of mining dogecoin please? And which pools you are connected to mine dogecoin.
I recommend that you save links to this resource or search for mining pools statistics on request.
https://miningpoolstats.stream/dogecoin
Choose any of the 5 first pools. These are the largest and most famous pools. There should be an instruction for connecting, but if it is not there, then look on YouTube how to set up your ASIC for mining.

Such portable hydroelectric power plants were very common in China with a capacity of 25-250 kilowatts,
This is interesting, just how portable are these setups... and doesn't an HEP need good water catchment areas for the electricity generation to be a successful.

but after the mining ban, there were many announcements about this sale.
Digging into this might catch a good deal on this....

I also think that this uses very few miners and many questions about registering such equipment for generating electricity.
Is this in relation to the "portable hydroelectric power plants" does it mean they aren't efficient in power generation to have a good number of miners using this electricity.
For such installations, you need to find a place near the river. There are a lot of problems with installation, maintenance and lack of skills in this matter.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjEgFlngZ04
In my country, you need to get permission to use such installations, and the miner does not need extra problems. If you have operating experience and the ability to install, then this may be a good investment for you.
1957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Ergo and Ravencoin for 2024 on: January 13, 2023, 01:09:03 PM
Last time ergo is nice for amd cards but, after eth pow gone, ergo floded x10 hashrate from miner desperately trying to recoup their investment on gpu side, with the fall of ergo price, began quickly unprofitable even you got free electricity isnt worth it at all

How can you say it's not worth it even with free electricity? Ergo imo is worth mining even at a loss right now as long as you can hold it for the next big bullrun. Thats the only way to make big money in crypto from now i think. IF you can afford to mine in todays situation then it's worth picking the coins that could fly and just hold them
Why increase the wear and tear of mining equipment and engage in mining at a loss, if now you can buy very cheap coins?
The main problem is that miners have a lot of old nvidia 1000-2000 series equipment and old AMD GPUs, which give little profit. And it's a pity to use the Nvidia 3000 and 4000 series for such tasks.

10k houses with 15-30kw capacity, wow, cheap houses and lots of electricity. If you get lucky in crypto you might own a lot of houses in different villages hehe.

Don't share too much, governments might hunt miners when central bank digital currencies rolls out.
I do not use 15 kilowatts, because there is a risk of attracting attention to myself and thieves can rob the house. 1 kilowatt is 6-10 video cards in a mining farm, 15 kilowatts is 90-150 video cards worth from $40,000. Now there is nothing to mining.

Please do not be insulted, but I am picturing an old movie with a few dozen people with pitchforks and torches. instead of going after Frankenstein’s Monster they are going after s19s.

Bitcointalk has been working in Russia through VPN for a long time, but I don't have much difficulty with blocking. Some pools blocked Russian IPs, but they didn't stop working with Russian miners. I think that at the end of the year mining statistics will change a lot in favor of Russia.

And when you access Bitcointalk through a VPN how does that look in statistics? Russian IP or German whatever?  Wink
Rather than risk your data not reaching other nodes that fast because of troubles afterward and over which you have no control, you'll switch to having all of it virtually in another country from which on there is no blocking. That's what happening and it has nothing to do with the real activity on the ground, that's also the reason that probably it will take the actual hash rate deployed to double to see even a bump in statistics that rely on IPs.

These statistics do not contain Russian IP addresses.
https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php
There are a lot of Russian miners in the telegram, so I only need VPN for this forum.
