The altcoin subforum is just brimming with drama, it seems.

It would have been a lot better if it said "we don't currently have plans, but..." Reading that seemed like an "we haven't even given it any thought, so good luck on anything happening anytime soon, if at all."
I'd wager that Bitcoin is still generally unknown to the majority, though it is steadily gaining traction. But at least they've now been introduced to them.

Pretty much any smartphone from the past few years can replace an iPod touch. I have no idea if there are any other companies which make smartphones without the phone part; Apple's the only one that comes to mind, although I believe Microsoft had a Zune for a while, but I haven't heard any news on it or if it still exists.

Traditional currencies are backed by nation-states and regulated financial industries Not gonna lie, I stopped reading here. This guy's been sipping on some sour kool-aid, but for some odd reason, refuses to put it down.

People, please, hold your applause. def myNewFunction(x): if x > 1: return x + 1 else: return 0
print myNewFunction(int(raw_input())) It took me three weeks to figure out how many parenthesis should go on the end of the last statement, but due to my unwavering perseverance, I've made a program that...probably cures computer cancer or something. But anyway, I think I'm ready to make the next World of Warcraft clone.

Yeah, it's like when Valve fanbois go around saying you only have to login once, I still have to login in order to play the game and use my internet connection, that doesn't make it any less unreasonable if I have to do it once, nevermind the fact that the offline modes are always shit. No one dictates to me when I can and can't use software on my computer, especially if I've paid for it.
I've found the convenience a good trade-off for having to load up Steam before playing your games. It only takes about 10 seconds to load up on my PC so I've never really been bothered by it. I'm rarely offline tho so I have no idea if Steam offline is a pain in the ass, however, I have lost my connection while playing games from Steam, and the only time that pissed me off was when my Civ 5 game suddenly decided it had to quit to menu because I went offline, which I found odd, as I was playing single-player offline...but no clue what that was about. But anyway, having all my games in one spot and being able to reformat and download them again easily is something I can deal with, not to mention the deals they're always having. Oh, and indie games, which Microsoft pretends to care about but really doesn't. Also, no ads, except for games, which are the ads I actually want to see, which, in the case of Microsoft, is why I want to beat my (brother's) 360 with a fucking bat. And then there's the Microsoft online service for PC which is a fucking pain in the ass, especially when you have both that and the Steam overlay going at the same time which is stupid and why do I have to input a CD code for a digitally downloaded game off Steam directly into Microsoft's overlay? They don't really still believe CD codes actually stop pirating, do they? And then after hearing the news about KreepyKinect and ghost-discs + activation fees... Anyway, my point is, fuck Microsoft

I've noticed since the Bradley Manning / Wikileaks thing started that the conservatives that hate our government so much are the first to jump to defend it and call Bradley a traitor. Our government is the one committing war crimes in our name. Bradley simply aired their dirty laundry. He's a hero and the government will continue to spew mountains of propaganda to make you hate him. He's just a kid with a conscience. If you can't see that you're probably more of traitor to freedom than you say he is.
Don't worry, most of us can see this. SEC agent is just the literal definition of idiot: id·i·ot /ˈidēət/ Noun 1 A stupid person. 2 A mentally handicapped person. Well, he's one or the other, anyway. I'm not sure if patriots count as mentally handicapped.

Nah, it's still a digital currency. That doesn't need to change; what needs to change are people's minds.
For example, I sell digital artwork; it's not real in the sense that it cannot exist without the help of a computer to realize it into existence, but the time spent creating them is the same as if I'd done the same process with a canvas and paint. Many people acknowledge this as art; however, there are still people who cannot and will not accept digital art as art, simply because it's not real. The same goes for electronic music; many people do not believe digital music is music, and instead will believe that only music created with real instruments counts as music. Though many of us disagree with these views, the fact remains that people still believe that digital things aren't real and shouldn't be taken seriously.
On the other hand, I believe that anyone who pays 15$ for a weapon or a hat in Team Fortress 2 must be crazy, but it happens, all the time; some rare hats go up to the hundreds and the thousands of dollars range. It's just something people have to get over.
Now, digital money is not a very new thing (in the sense of how old the Internet is, which, if we think about it, nothing digital is actually very old at all), and there's a lot of prejudice against digital money, namely that it's not to be taken seriously (WoW gold, Neopoints, and even recently, Amazon Coin.) Because of this, there is a hurdle people must cross before they'd accept Bitcoin; it's not that Bitcoin isn't digital (I believe that's a perfect descriptor), it's that people won't take it seriously because it is digital. As with all things, it only takes time for this mindset to change. It wasn't that long ago that people who found relationships online were viewed as weirdos, people who stay inside all day and never go out and meet people, but now everyone's got a Facebook and relationships happen all the time without two people ever meeting in person before, and it's normal, now. It's normal to know and enjoy the 'company' of people online, though before it was almost taboo, and that trend is likely to continue the longer something or an activity is around. All it takes is time.

None of you could even say these things if you didn't live in a democracy. Don't worry, our representatives are hard at work trying to fix that problem.
