1801  Economy / Services / Re: [Contest] 0.1 BTC for a quick logo on: June 18, 2013, 03:33:15 PM
Say, Mike, how much would you charge for some low detail pixel-art if you are ever approached on such matter?

Depends on the project; if it's just a one-time image, I'd probably charge about 20$, especially if it was an itty bitty one.  However, pixel art can get really complex and take hours upon hours to complete; depending on exactly what the client is asking for, and how long it would take, the price would definitely vary, and of course, it depends on your skill.  If you're not an established pixel artist with several examples to show your ability, you might not want to charge quite so much.  I've only dabbled with pixel art myself so I have little clue how much work it takes to produce good results, but from what I've attempted, it's nothing trivial.  Anyway, a good rule of thumb is, if it's going to take a long time to finish, and you're competent in your ability, charge accordingly.  If it's something you'll finish in an hour, charge accordingly.  Just don't sell yourself short and charge 10$ for work that'll take days to complete, you know?  It really doesn't attract clients like you'd think it would Tongue

Anyhow, here's my entry for this contest:

Guys, you make me feel almost as a victim now  with all your nospec talk.

Although it would be nice to hear at least something adressed at my sketch from OP
Even if it's "sod off!"

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I think your logo is pretty good Tongue

Well, i totally understand you... But I don't need a 1000$ logo, i just need a simple logo. This is not a company meant to grow, I just want to create a portfolio to get a few clients as a side job... So I don't see why I would need to pay a lot for that!

Even if you're just paying 10$, you're asking artists to work for free at your leisure, who will receive payment only if you like the work they produce, not for the fact that they actually worked.  This doesn't make sense; people need to be paid for the time they put down, not for your personal opinion.  It would be better to find an artist you like, ask them if they'll work for you, pay them for their time, and be done with it.  This isn't a 'contest', as much as a way to employ several artists for the cost of one.

invasion of privacy of the officer though?

They don't seem to mind invading other people's privacy.

Did you crop my bosom?

Oh, yeah; I couldn't fit the game's glorious title on it with your chest in the way so I had to push it off screen Tongue  Sorry.

You guys may as well give up, I got this contest in the bag.
1809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get credit, purchase Bitcoin, declare bankruptcy, profit?? on: June 18, 2013, 12:08:49 PM
I remember someone a while back who was planning on getting student loans and completely investing them into Bitcoin.  While this can be an easy way to get a lot of BTC quickly, and with high hopes that BTC will go sky high in the future, it seems like a good idea.  The only problem I can see is trying to purchase that much Bitcoin unnoticed, as to not attract attention, as I'm certain this kind of stuff is frowned upon.  If you attempt something like this, I'd buy locally; the exchanges would be the last place I'd go, since the transfer of fiat in and out of them is being monitored (and those who avoid this get shut down, like Liberty Reserve.)

Out of every group listed here so far, I've heard of two. Though I don't listen to those, lol.

I listen to just about anything, although I generally prefer rap for some reason. Skrillex is good too!

I've never been able to stomach rap; the lyrics never really click with me, although there's a few underground artists I like; MF DOOM and Aesop Rock are good but I think they're more hip-hop...  Listen to Nujabes?

Nujabes - Feather

Yes, A Perfect Circle - Orestes

"Give me one more medicated peaceful moment"

And there's also Puscifer, but a few of their songs are kinda goofy Tongue  Three Libras and Pet are prob my favs from APC, never heard of Orestes so I'll check that one out.  An old girlfriend (now best friend) got me into Maynard's work a while back, though I didn't appreciate it until just recently.  I remember my half-brother had sent my father a copy of 10,000 Days but I was like 15 at the time and didn't like it for some reason.  Coming back to it, I don't see how I ever got along without them.  Guess I grew up and my tastes matured.

Puscifer - The Humbling River

AFAIK the only thing microwaves do is shake water molecules at a high enough rate that they produce heat from friction.  There doesn't seem to be anything which says microwaves have other adverse effects which remain after the process of microwaving is done, outside of nasty dry food.  I wouldn't want to sit in one while it's running, tho.

Your microwave is clearly haunted by demons.

You never know...

I wouldn't trust it.  I believe all items, when transferred, are encrypted, but a back door is always a possible route, especially when drugs and CP and terrorism is involved.
1814  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is trolling? on: June 18, 2013, 03:15:35 AM
When a person deliberately says or does things with the intent to make other people upset/angry, esp. over the Internet.

To be trolled is to be on the receiving end of such actions.

I've seen some people reporting that ixquick is better than duckduckgo.  I've tried duckduckgo before and thought the results were so extraordinarily bad that I couldn't use it.

I thought that too; I guess all that data collection served a purpose Tongue  At least, started out with good intentions.

In this short 4-page speech, the Director twice made a connection between Bitcoin and (you guessed it) terrorism. Twice more connected Bitcoin to those who would exploit children. And four times linked digital currency to ‘criminals’ in general.

Them's fightin' words.

Neat Beats - Graffiti on a Tuesday Night

Giuseppe Verdi - The Anvil Chorus

Helen Jane Long - Echo

I have eclectic tastes.
