https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/22/yellen-sounds-warning-about-extremely-inefficient-bitcoin.html

Why thank you Joe Biden for your nomination. Bitcoin is tumbling for multiple reasons today but I don't find her comments particularly true or useful. And besides, if we're talking about energy usage, does it not take a metric ton of energy to continually print USD? Pretty sure there was more printing within the last two years than ever before in US history. Those energy bills stack up, ya know.

Short term news, don’t get too worried about it.

I think she, as a former chair of the fed, may want to worry about the fact that the Federal Reserve Financial Services were disrputed for about an hour yesterday due to some computer glitch. Pretty much meaning that wire transfers, ach transfers, and some other services wouldn’t work and the servers they were on needed a reboot.

Even if we don’t have a digital dollar in the US yet, we pretty much have one cause all money has been made digital. - https://www.wsj.com/articles/federal-reserve-reports-several-business-lines-disrupted-by-operational-error-11614194912

22  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump owns the Republican party on: February 25, 2021, 03:57:43 PM
Then again, with First-past-the-post, if Trump did split the Republican party, that'd mean a ton of victories for Democrats up and down the ballot.

The way things stand now, a split would mean that McConnel et al leave to create their own party, not the other way round. I doubt they'll do it despite all their rhetoric. Like never-trumpers in 2016, they'll quietly sneak back to kiss Trump's ring.

Even with a split, given polarization and gerrymandering it might not be all victories for Democrats. They might even end up losing some swing seats they recently got if there are two parties to compete against and some independents flip back to supporting whatever moderate Republican offshoot might emerge.

As we get closer and closer to CPAC it seems that Trump will just exert his influence on the GOP instead of making his own party. Though just the threat of him making his own party scares the hell out of Republicans b/c he still commands the support approx 60% of the party.

While Republicans in Washington may be scared of McConnell and his senate influence, individual GOP voters really will go with whatever Trump says on the matter so I highly doubt Trump will lose his grip now.

The ultimate test of if he was going to maintain his control was the Capitol siege, and he was still able to control the Republicans through that so there’s no reason to say he cant continue onwards from here.

Can’t wait to see what this guy says at CPAC. Probably just going to be what he’s wanted to say on Twitter for weeks now.

Nuclear is non-emission, not renewable.

Solar and wind have great ROI from an energy and financial sense.

It's not technically renewable, but neither is solar energy either because the sun will eventually burn out. The world has enough uranium in it that would make nuclear energy almost unlimited because of how high the energy out put is. Combine that with the fact it's non emission, it's the only solution to the energy crisis.

Even as a massive advocate of nuclear energy, I wouldn’t say it’s the only solution to the energy crisis. I would say it’s a great solution that green energy people have been pushing off, which is horrid to see as it is a real long term solution that is much more effective then wind, solar, and so on.

People get scared cause they watched a Netflix documentary about Chernobyl and that’s the reason that the approval ratings for nuclear are going to stay super low. Did anyone care about oil drilling mismanagement when it came to the oil spill in the gulf or does that just not matter?

Hopefully people in Washington begin to notice that Nuclear can really fix our energy problem, but they probably wont. Lobbying and stupidity will kill that idea.

Update on Flying Ted because obviously he can't stop digging his hole just yet: he called his neighbors assholes because some of them are Democrats and he suspects they leaked his wife's texts.

As far as political protests go - this is the right way to do it. Support local entertainers during this difficult time.

Why in gods fucking name would you have a group chat with people you dont trust and tell them about the fact that you’re living in the middle of a crisis in your state?

You’d understand telling some family members, but there’s no reason at all to put yourself in this position anyway. Just don’t go on vacation in the middle of the natural disaster in your state where hundreds of thousands are without power and heat and so on.

The stupidity here is insane. No one will care for long though, people have the attention of a gold fish — got like 4 more years until he is up for reelection again.

She's a director for goldman sachs and is married to a sitting US senator, so it's safe to say she is very short sighted. I don't think she understood how bad this looked so when she was texting her group chat, she lacked all the foresight. And of course, it bit her in the ass.

Although her neighbor is kind of an asshole for leaking the text messages.

LOL SHE IS A DIRECTOR FOR GOLDMAN SACHS AND THIS IS WHAT SHE DOES?

Neghibor is a real asshole, but its on them for displaying it to their neighbors in the middle of this massive issue that is hitting the state. Did she think that her neighbors were going to be happy that she was fleeing the state for a warm place while everyone else around her was freezing.

Although her neighbor is kind of an asshole for leaking the text messages.

True. But a senator going on some nutcase podcast and saying so is a bit different than us saying so on some nutcase forum. I mean... he still needs to live there next to those people he just called assholes. As they say, takes one to know one.

Sigh. What in gods name.

Why would you go on a podcast and put these people on blast.

Don't mistake criticism for anti-Americanism.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

This is the thing that most people have forgotten.

I personally think that the way to show your love for a country it so criticize it, as that’s the only chance that it can continue to get better and grow. If you have undying loyalty towards the government or to a certain party / politician then they’re going to take you for granted and take advantage of you.

The only way to ensure the survival of this country (and every country on this earth) is to foster new conversations, new ideas, and allow the country to grow and evolve.

If you’re not moving forwards, you’re moving backwards.

The virus isn't serious enough to bother anyone that has decent immunity.
Your 94 year old friend has a >20% chance of death if she catches the virus. Source: https://ourworldindata.org/mortality-risk-covid#case-fatality-rate-of-covid-19-by-age

WELL YEAH SHE MAY HAVE A 20% CHANCE OF DEATH BUT SHE IS OBVIOUSLY STRONG SO THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS VIRUS THAT HAS KILLED 2.5M PEOPLE WILL ALSO KILL HER.

/S

Not sure on why Jet Cash is still going on about this. The vaccine is essential to get to the oldest and most vulnerable part of the population to ensure that they DO NOT DIE.

I’ll never understand why people can’t understand that. These older people want to live and they want the vaccine, let them get it.

Wasn’t Joe Biden arrested by the military and Donald Trump is now the President of the United States — that’s the case, right?

It must be a 5D (not to be confused with Bill Gates' 5G virus) chess game, there is no other explanation.

Well yes, this is a long drawn out game for Donald Trump to come out victorious. It’s crazy that you have not seen the strategy to winning yet.

Obviously losing the Presidency is apart of this, it’s a way for everyone to see how horrible Joe Biden is as the President — he took away everyones guns and raised taxes and everything already, so it’ll be so easy to convince everyone that Joe Biden is not fit to be President.

Also it’s been about a month and he still does not have COVID under control? God Joe Biden is so incompetent.

Easy win for Trump in 2024.

29  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - Casino & Sportsbook - Play Smarter 🚀 🎰 🏀 ⚾ 🏈 🎾 🥊 🎲 on: February 19, 2021, 02:49:58 AM
Yesterday I made a mistake while depositing BTC in Stake.com. The amount involved was really large (equivalent to 4 months of salary). I was really worried, but the support team resolved the issue in less than two hours. All it took was a few emails back and forth. Many thanks for the support team for such a prompt response. In many of the other gambling sites, this would have gone unresolved for many weeks.
Being on the top of the available gambling platforms, it'll give the best to keep the reputation high. What you've encountered is one such example for the same. Mistakes are common, and when things get resolved in a short time period without much complications it'll add more value to the platform.

The support members who communicates through the chat option is much friendly and are ready to help anytime. If we've contacted a person and if he's away the next person available online picks our ticket and gives support. This is very rare to be seen on other gambling sites.

You make them look bad with these obv sig spam/shill/word salad posts.

This is the problem with paying people to post on your thread in the gambling section, you’re left with interesting stuff where people think throwing up on the page is worthy of a post.

Stake is a great website, seems like their signature campaign could use a bit of work — but the site is solid and is run by the same great guys who run PrimeDice (another reputable crypto casino)

Cute lil corporate holiday that Hallmark pushed to sell more cards and it stuck.
True, indeed. Hallmark should also think a way to customize cards for Ash Wednesday (as today is) as churchgoers mark it annually.

On the essence of Valentine? I think it's meaningless to say the least. How do you get people to remember just a day for love? Celebration of love should be like a religion — A way of life. It should be an everyday event. But what happens with February 14 annually is a pronounced act of immorality with motels, hotels and charlets overtly booked with contraceptives and sex enhancing drugs in high sales. I have consistently observed this behaviour around my vicinity over the years. It's a fact that most people are excited by that date because of the immorality they will indulge and not because of any agape love supposedly attributed to it. This (my view) may sound a bit hash, but it's the reality on ground.

Hallmark has some sort of e gift cards for this, there are some premium cards and then some free cards that can be sent on here.
https://www.hallmarkecards.com/ecards/ash-wednesday---february-14-npz5548

Not sure why anyone would send these cards to people but yeah that’s the way to monetize things that people don’t even consider holidays.

So yeah, they’ve already got you covered on that.

I figured when Trump "lost" the election that we would at least get a break from these public TDS attacks

I suppose it's possible that everyone from Mitch McConnel to AOC have lost their mind, but have you considered the possibility that the people who are still falling for Trumps lies are the ones deranged?

No come on that cant be it. There’s no way that that could be the case. Come on obviously there’s no way that Qanon could be wrong about anything — they haven’t been wrong thus far, so there’s no way that they could be wrong now.

Wasn’t Joe Biden arrested by the military and Donald Trump is now the President of the United States — that’s the case, right?
32  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump for prison. on: February 18, 2021, 05:59:33 PM
What I said is a fact, actually.  Feel free to dispute it and I'll provide the evidence.

If you think he's innocent or above the law, just say so.  Playing the 'it was political' card over and over removes credibility from all your posts.  You could say that about any politician that commits a crime - it doesn't mean politicians should not be held accountable.

Depends on the point that they’re trying to argue here. If they’re trying to say that Cohen was targeted due to being close to Trump and the Mueller campaign saw that he could potentially flip on Trump (which he did) — Then I’d say that’s true. I’m pretty sure (don’t quote me) that he wasn’t being investigated prior to the Mueller probe starting.

With this line of thought, then the Mueller probe was the reason for Michael Cohen getting charged with his crimes.

Let me know if that line of thought is wrong, will gladly read some of the stuff on that. Shit feels so long ago now.
What you are saying is that Cohen was prosecuted for political reasons -- to cause damage to Trump, who is was the leader of the opposition party of the "career" DOJ prosecutors who decided to prosecute Cohen.

What I'm saying is Cohen was charged for lying to Congress.  He told Congress that Trump didn't have any ongoing business deals in Russia after Trump won the GOP nomination. Trump told the public the same thing.  In reality, Trump was continuing forward with his "Trump World Tower Moscow" project and even signed a letter of intent.

I actually left something off my list that Trump could face charges for that Cohen was also involved in.  He was convicted for campaign finance violations when, "in coordination with and at the direction of a candidate for federal office (Trump)" , he created a shell company to pay a porn star who Trump had an affair with $130,000 without having to report it to the FEC.

Edit: I mixed up the Porn Star and Trump Tower Moscow issues.  I'm not sure if Trump is exposed to any criminal charges for the Trump Tower Moscow lies since he only lied about it to the public, not under oath.  It's the campaign finance charges that he's an unindicted coconspirator for.  Feels like a million years ago that stuff happened.

I know I’m a little late on a response here but yeah, all of this stuff does feel like a million years ago now.

The un indicted coconspirator thing is the part that saves him though, as he’ll face no punishment for that. Maybe NYS will try to go after him for these crimes in the future, though I personally highly doubt that anyone wants the former President of the United States to be charged with crimes from states.

That’s not to say that I think the President is above the law, as he should not be. But the Presidents crimes, both on a state and national level, should be dealt with through the impeachment process. I really just feel like it opens a can of worms if you begin indicting former Presidents through the regular process.

It’s a very weird situation and I’m personally not sure what should be done.
33  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it time to uninstall WhatsApp? on: February 18, 2021, 12:16:55 AM
I'm not usually one to be paranoid about privacy or installing apps on my phone, but I think when it comes to WhatsApp and TikTok I will live without their service.  I guess maybe if I used them before concerns were brought up I might not care and continue doing so.  I don't think either of them offers me something I'm missing from life so for me it's less of an uninstall issue as it is an avoidance issue.

WhatsApp isn't really popular in the states, so it makes sense that most people have no issue just not using it at all. It's more of an international app which was bought by Facebook to fill in their international gap.

TikTok though -- popular in the states, but not really needed at all. Seems like a great way for the Chinese to get data on the younger generation that will grow up to be the future Western leaders......

Less than a month in and already aiming to take gun violence. Nice.

Kind of too late, but he has the best chance of doing it in recent history!  I wonder if they think all the guns will go poof when the bill is signed?  Smiley

‘Aiming to take on gun violence’ Interesting choice of words there.

I’ve always been amazed by people. Obama had the ability to influence gun policy and healthcare and pretty much every other progressive dream during his 1st term in office when Dems had the trifecta.

Dems have the trifecta again (by a much slimmer margin, but still a trifecta none the less) and I doubt they’ll do anything to satisfy progressives with it. Joe Biden could probably pass a pretty moderate gun violence bill TODAY, but it wont happen.

Cute lil corporate holiday that Hallmark pushed to sell more cards and it stuck.

Not really sure how some people think of this as a holiday to go crazy overboard for, but it is still a nice way to show your love and appreciation for your significant other.

Doesn’t take away from the fact that the origins of Valentines day was a way for a company to make a ton of money, but that also does not take away from the genuine love that is shown during this day. Hope yall have a happy Valentines Day!

yep hallmark wants year round events to get people en-masse to buy more things. they cant just rely on random birthdays which cant really predict how much bulk they will need month to month. so they instead want to concentrate on making certain events super special to get bulk sales, far beyond the scales birthdays can offer

every 6-8 weeks is a new special occassion.
newyear...  valentines... easter.. mother day(us) independance day.. labour day.. thanks giving

this allows them to have 6-8 weeks to manufacture and prepare the next bi-monthly celebration
there are some other more minor celebrations they are trying to push. but they are not putting in the effort as they like the 6-8 week gapped events to prepare.

that said they didnt invent these events. they just promoted them to the extremes to raise their importance for profit reasons

EG in the Uk . if it wasnt for consumerism. bonfire night would not be a big deal, same for halloween.

..
so forget the consumerist promotion stuff
valentines is for single people to find a partner with less consequences that day
if you already have a partner. love them all year round

Different b/w Valentines Day and say — Easter/ Christmas / etc is that Valentines Days origins are all in corporatism while Easter/Christmas and so on and so forth at least has some piece of religion in it.

But yeah, all holidays have been turned into this massive consumerism events where you spend what you don’t have to impress people you don’t like. Our economy relies on it at every level. If everyone became fiscally responsible overnight then the economy would begin to crash quickly.

Gotta keep this whole machine going.

Pissident at the "new" White House
https://youtu.be/YL7iXkQLAdk

This is raw sewage.

Tash, how do you keep getting tricked into eating turds?

Somebody covers a turd with a few sprinkles of QAnon-inspired fear porn, and you wolf it down, at least twice a week for the last half year.

So what I wanna know is, what's wrong with you?

Have you ever heard of the "smell test"? You might want to learn what that is before accidentally ingesting any more fecal material.

I'd love to know what's really going on in their head. (tash/mindtrust/badecker/tzup)

I think it's most likely they realize they were duped and at some point over the past several weeks transitioned from making claims they believed were true to spite trolling.

Maybe badecker belongs in a separate category.

Tons of people are like this out in the world, they’ll literally find anything (LITERALLY ANY SOURCE AT ALL) to support what they want to be true. It doesn’t really matter if it doesn’t sound that legitimate, or if the source is random blog spam or a random youtube page or whatever.

I’ve literally seen people on Facebook quote Pro Trump news from...... WeLoveDonaldTrump.com (or something along those lines don’t quote me on that exactly)

Some people will get out of this loop at somepoint, but it’s hard to do when you’ll latch on to anything to convince yourself that you’re right and smarter then everyone else.
37  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Clearview AI Declared Illegal In Canada Scraping Public Photos for Cops to Stalk on: February 15, 2021, 12:41:55 AM

Not sure if politics even matters when you get to the point of something like Clearview AI — I’d think that this rests on a class issue of rich vs poor again as the rich are going to be the ones that want to use this data for their businesses, personal lives, and so on and so forth.

The struggles of the rich are in the ethereal cloud. You can only fight if you fly up. If you don’t want to fight, you can lie down and roll. However, no matter how you struggle, you will still be in amongst the clouds…

However, the struggle of the poor is always sinking into the quagmire, and hard work is just to prevent oneself from falling any deeper. Once they stop struggling, they will be swallowed by the quagmire.

There’s an entire section on their wikipedia page that talks about their notable associations, which is pretty much just an interesting way to talk about how rich people / businesses used their service for their own personal benefit.

Investor David Scalzo, founder of Kirenaga Partners, said that his "school-aged daughters enjoyed playing with the app"

Pretty horrible to see that people are just using an AI scraping app as a partytrick for their rich friends......

Just a matter of time till each face is used to represent a certain type of person, and the AI uses the lives of a rich and a poor person to reflect the lives of the poor and the rich.

Pretty much my view on the entire thing, though it seems like you've added a lot more 'interesting' thought and storytelling into it.

My view on the matter is that it doesn't matter about your politics once you're rich enough to have access to / use something like Clearview AI. Both parties want to be in control, even if they have to share control with one another. That's the great thing about being very wealthy, it doesn't really matter who is in power (R OR D) because both of them want your campaign contributions and will be beholden to you if you give them enough money.

Nice existence we all have here, right?

https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1361084822152749056

Seems like the reason behind the death is unknown now, but Greenwald is taking this as an opportunity to go on a rant about stories that are pushed out the door too quickly to appease democrats that simply want to be angry at Trump (and fans of Trump)

Interesting story into the current world we have of mass media not always being 100% true.

Hopefully people are waking up and qanon has peaked.   Hell of a year 2020 was for conspiracy theorists, but it's time to come back to reality.

Shit, it still seems like these people are full steam ahead with their crazy conspiracies'. You may not have a few crazies in your family, but in mine they'll just spew off all of this crazy conspiracy shit about how Trump won and how any day now he'll be taking back control of the government from Biden and his cronies.

Not sure they'll be coming back to reality anytime soon, but we can dream.

Comments are ego-centric. People are waking up to what exactly? the video didn't really show anything other than buzzwords if anything it supports big money agenda. Wake up people, to the same thing they've known for centuries? some people have money, others don't ? I'd like to tell the people in the comment section that the way you reach economic success is by moving up, not sitting stagnant. Bet if they were in any position of power/wealth they wouldn't be saying anything, and if they did, it'd be because some people are nibbling at your feet trying to get a taste, and for what ? because they feel dignified in receiving something for nothing.

Ah I don't know whom to dislike more, the people who claim to be poor yet have enough assets to spend all day on conspiracies and Youtube (because what bum do you know that has time for that?) or the willingly poor, which just gave up on the future... Unless you have no arms or legs, or are severely mentally handicapped, you should be able to get a job, or figure something out buddy.

Note: The rich getting richer has nothing to do with you getting poorer. This monetary ecosystem is polluted sure, not sure that's every going to change. However the fact that some guy has a million shouldn't stop you from trying to have that same success. Don't follow people, be a leader.

Ah, one comment in here that has some thought behind it. Yes, you're totally right here.

The crazy rich aren't planning for all of us to be their servants and to brainchip us and all this other crazy shit. Plus, the plans for the Great Reset are drummed up by the WEF because they want media attention coming towards them as they rely on new members to join their pompous excuse for real economic research.
