Looking at exit polls Biden should win Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Pennsylvania is not so certain.

This is probably skewed by mail-ins. Which should favor Biden even more.

Yup, most likely.

Trump has pulled through and will probably win Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Florida.

Pennsylvania will probably end up going to Trump.

Trump will probably win this race IMO. Betting markets have completely flipped on their head here. But I guess there's still a lot of time.
342  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump suggests that he may fire Fauci? - according to media reports. on: November 03, 2020, 07:57:09 PM
Not exactly sure on the Fauci stuff, as I haven't seen too many reports confirming that. Though Axios is reporting that Trump is planning a MASSIVE shift up in regards to his top cabinet positions if he is to get reelected.

He's planning on getting rid of FBI Director Christopher Wray, CIA Director Gina Haspel, and Defense Secretary Mark Esper. ...

It's different with Fauci, because our Fed administration is really running a decentralized approach to the pandemic. It's not a top down rules set, but very much in the hands of the governors.

Fauci is no boss or czar.

Oh totally, Fauci is obviously VERY different then Wray, Haspel, and Esper in regards to what their position entails.

If Trump is to win reelection, he most likely will fire Fauci as well. He'll have the political capital to do it, though I personally wouldn't want to waste the anger of Americans on that. At this point Trump knows that he can kinda just ignore Corona and people won't really care that much.

His political capital would be much better used in getting a stimulus package out the door and forcing the Dems to work with him on that. That kinda depends on what the Senate will look like too, though they could push something through before the new Senators are confirmed (given that Trump has won as well)

Florida closes polls sharp and gets the results out the night of, so we will know the winner tomorrow.

Speaking of Florida, early voting turnout (not including Monday's mail-ins I guess) has Democrats with a ~100k vote advantage... which is probably nothing, considering that despite the record-breaking early voting there are likely still a few million people coming to vote tomorrow.

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article246891077.html

Yeah this is something that more people need to know. Any record breaking absentee / early voting advantages will most likely be soaked up by in person voting. Voter turnout will end up being higher this year, though.

We MAY know the winner today. Even though they're going to start counting the absentee ballots today, they may not have the resources to get it out ASAP. I'm guessing that if we end up knowing today it's going to be LATER in the night - lke 12-4 AM.

Who the fuck knows what litigation is going to end up doing to certain votes though. Litigation could flip this all up, though I think we all know that isn't going to be popular - just like Bush v Gore wasn't popular.

Voted this morning..
Small town, long line..
Kinda know the people running it, they say turnout is huge..
No line in 2016 when I voted then, line this time took about 20 minutes to get into the building..

Watching on cnn.. They aren’t seeming all that confident in a Biden victory like they were for Hillary in 2016 either..

Have been experiencing the same thing in my area. Seems like lines are long while a TON of people have already voted either through early voting, or through mail in (absentee) voting.

Lines are pretty long, though they're going fast enough in my area to where people aren't mad about that.

Kinda curious on people who live in like Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, etc and how lines are there. Probably pretty insane.

He's planning on getting rid of FBI Director Christopher Wray, CIA Director Gina Haspel, and Defense Secretary Mark Esper. Most of this is due to the fact that he doesn't see them as loyal enough to him, which will be the reason for their firings if Trump is to win releection.

We'll kinda see where that is going tonight, though who the hell knows.

I think we're on the same page when you say that all is lost. Maybe I'm just a cynic and there is still hope though.

Absolute nonsense. The SC will make decisions, many of them will surprise people that try to predict.

Alright here is where my line of thought is regarding high level positions such as the SC, Presidency, etc.

I think that at a certain point when you're going up the ladder the owners of our society, the super rich and wealthy, ensure that you're not a threat to them and you won't alter the status quo too much. I just don't know how someone could get to a high level position like that without being vetted by the people who run shit.

I know this is like an Illuminati level conspiracy, but that's just where my brain puts me at some points.

Go ahead, confirm it's nonsense. Then from the political point of view, Barret really makes the court 5-4. (Noting John Roberts actual record).

Nothing new here, it's been 5-4 conservative many times.

Do you actually know what I was trying to explain as my conspiracy theory or were you just writing me off? I'm BEYOND CONFUSED.

I'm not saying that ACB is the only one on the court who is some Illuminati level person. I'm saying that the upper echelon of society is only going to let people that they allow 'in' access to the most prestigious parts of government. Why would the rich and wealthy let someone get to the court, or become the President, if they're going to go against their interest.

That's what I'm talking about here. Nothing else, lol.

In Texas of all places more people have already voted than the total turnout in 2016:

https://www.npr.org/2020/10/30/929578710/more-than-9-million-texans-cast-ballots-early-topping-states-total-turnout-in-20

Overall 80+ million people have voted, or 60%+ of 2016 turnout.

This is pretty crazy news. Still have a TON of ballots that are probably still in the pipeline and others that'll prefer to vote in person. So this year is going to most likely by the year of record breaking voter turnout as it's pretty easy to vote this year.

....
538 has been doing daily election podcasts recently - definitely worth a listen.

Their forcast has Biden winning about 90% of the time. ....
....

Indeed, the enthusiasm of the Biden Harris crowd shows.

Harris's appearance in Fort Worth gathered TRILLIONS of human cells. They were organized neatly into a few dozen actual humans.

https://www.breitbart.com/2020-election/2020/10/30/dozens-attend-kamala-harris-campaign-event-fort-worth/

Hasn't Texas been solid red for decades? Why would she be campaigning there a few days before the election?

Let me check...

Oh damn.  33%.  That's about the same chances they gave Trump to win in 2016.

I personally still think Trump is going to squeak by in Texas, then pull a win in Florida. Who knows what'll happen from there, but once those two things happen we'll be looking at a much easier pill to swallow (for conservatives) of 30-70 Biden, instead of 10-90 Biden.

This race is going to be MUCH tigther then the pollsters, 538 included, make it out to be. I'm happy that 538 shows how things can change so very quickly.
349  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Huawei and China on: October 31, 2020, 10:19:29 PM
Isn't it kinda normal for a company to be sponsored by a government to provide something? China, the EU and the US all want to be able to control the Internet. Also the US make chips? I thought it was mainly the UK and Japan still...

Also no one's paying for crypto adoption and it probably wouldn't be hard for someone to add this feature to bitcoin, especially on the light Ing network it'd just use nfc like tap (contactless).

I mean, no. There is no company in the US that is as interwoven with the US government to the point that they're being protected against outside market forces. Huawei, OnePlus, TenCent, and the rest of the Chinese company cartel are literally protected by China (I'd go as far as to say sanctioned to be allowed to exist) and they're the only ones who can make products within their market.

These companies all unlimited get out of jail free cards and can steal from the rest of the world as they please. They won't be stopped like China, which is commonplace for other countries to do to their own companies for violating IP law.

Do us companies get government contracts to do things for the government? Yes. But that's not how Huawei and China operate. Little different over there, lol.

Even though the start of this thread was very.... interesting. This is possibly one of the first threads where I thought we were going to have a Jet Cash level conspiracy theory though it seems like this is just a regular news thread.

You've made this sound a lot crazier then the story makes it out to be. It's still bad, but you make it seem like China is FORCING every single one of their CITIZENS to be injected with a vaccine.

That's just not the case. The person that we're reading about in this article was a Chinese person working abroad who was told he had to take the vaccine or he wouldn't be cleared to go back to work.

But fools exist.

Exactly.

Really shouldn't even be a problem at all to draw anything. Some groups will take offense to it, but it shouldn't result in multiple murders being commited because of your drawing.

The entire thing going on in France about the Charlie Hebdo sketches is indicative of a very large problem. Europe must stand up to radical Islam, as it would stand up to any other terrorist groups. It shouldn't bow to the pressure because (insert country here) is boycotting their goods.

Like what the fuck? They've had their own citizens HAVE THEIR HEADS CUT OFF BECAUSE OF THIS.

This whole thread should be about investing more money into research and ensuring that colloborative organizations, such as the WHO, can freely share information without being pressured by any particular government. Probably easier said then done when it comes to counseling and such. You'll require a lot of resources and planning to ensure that every single refugee in the country is given the resources that they may need. Plus like - I'd assume that the Europeans may not be happy to see more of their tax dollars go towards people that aren't them.

Most countries have some sort of mental illness problem, focusing all efforts on a small subset of people probably isn't too popular with the taxpayers.

But if these countries want to reap the benefits of more people being apart of their economy, they're going to need to put in the work to ensure that they're adjusting to life. That also assumes that the people want to adjust to what western life consists of.

Yeah I tried to rephrase a little as a wrote it to not directly say counselling was the only option. A small amount of decompression in a field or something picking fruit or a similar task around volunteers from the country that brought them, volunteer refugees and the new refugees that arrive. Even if just for an hour or two would probably do something to relax them and help them intermingle. I don't know if mentorships are a thing over there but they seem like something that would be cheap enough to manage.

You can't fix mental health problems of natives in western countries tbh they're going to continue to relapse and that's why it's a problem (the main issue is the lack of research imo and a lot of mental health practices rely on outdated procedures from the 80s at best and 50s at worst - drug therapy reminds me of Turing too much).

They probably are (mentorships), though COVID didn't really help the whole job market which makes western people pretty angry about letting more refugees into their nation as they think (sometimes rightfully so, not sure) that their jobs are being lost / given to those that just got here.

Then again, all of this requires planning and such that isn't so popular. Defending the nation is popular. Big crazy statements about national defense and spying and all of that is popular. May not work, but it's popular nonetheless.

354  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Plastic barriers next to supermarket queues. on: October 29, 2020, 06:22:00 PM
I'm only bothered by them because they reinforce the crapspeak about the virus. They do create tunnels, but that is good because it helps to spread immunity, and eventually the government will have to admit that the vaccines will be useless and not required. Then they will have to justify all the money they wasted. and  the life years that were destroyed in pursuit of their agenda.

Age isn't really relevant. it's the co-morbidities and the strength of your immune system that is important . The only reason that the elderly are more vulnerable is that they have been exposed to vaccines and other so called health care products for longer.

......

I'd love to know where you actually read the news from Jet Cash. Or whatever you're smoking. Seems interesting.

aerosols=normal breath..
Quote
The term “aerosol” has been used in various ways to describe small particles that can move through the air

Aerosol has been used both to define respiratory droplets of a certain size (e.g., smaller droplets and particles), as well as to describe the collection or cloud of these respiratory droplets in the air. In the healthcare setting, aerosol is used with respect to “aerosol-generating procedures” (e.g., intubation, bronchoscopy) that produce small droplets and particles and require distinct engineering controls to prevent occupational transmission of infectious pathogens like SARS-CoV-2. In community settings, aerosol was the term used to describe the sewage system-generated cloud of small droplets and particles that was believed to have spread SARS (caused by the virus SARS-CoV-1) during the 2003 Amoy Gardens outbreak in Hong Kong.
Source.

aerosols=normal breath.. yes be concerned. so just dont spend lengthy time near people breathing near you

stop pretending that breathing cant transfer virus
Quote
Airborne transmission is not equally efficient for all respiratory microbes

...

Airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 can occur under SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Pathogens that are mainly transmitted through close contact (i.e., contact transmission and droplet transmission) can sometimes also be spread via airborne transmission under special circumstances. There are several well-documented examples in which SARS-CoV-2 appears to have been transmitted over long distances or times. These transmission events appear uncommon and have typically involved the presence of an infectious person producing respiratory droplets for an extended time (>30 minutes to multiple hours) in an enclosed space. Enough virus was present in the space to cause infections in people who were more than 6 feet away or who passed through that space soon after the infectious person had left. Circumstances under which airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 appears to have occurred include:

Enclosed spaces within which an infectious person either exposed susceptible people at the same time or to which susceptible people were exposed shortly after the infectious person had left the space.
Prolonged exposure to respiratory particles, often generated with expiratory exertion (e.g., shouting, singing, exercising) that increased the concentration of suspended respiratory droplets in the air space.
Inadequate ventilation or air handling that allowed a build-up of suspended small respiratory droplets and particles.
Source.

Yes, the breath can transfer the virus UNDER SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES, as mentioned above. If there is no big sale at the supermarket where lots of people gather, screaming, and breathing heavily, you don't have to worry about breathing as this is not TBC.

That is why they limit the amount of people in the stores, try to get people to use special lanes when walking around, put up barriers, and require masks.

Plus you shouldn't be that close to people, even with masks on, for extended periods of time. Just be 6 feet apart and all is well.
355  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New Bad News: Are muslims trying to start a crusade ? on: October 29, 2020, 05:59:41 PM

On the other hand I do support an easing into soceity idea as well, if a nation has %99 christian population and suddenly get 50k+ muslims all at once that would be bad for the culture, there are now 50k people who have no idea how people live in europe, they have only seen the life in middle east so they can't comprehend many things in the new culture, which means they should probably not be living hand in hand together without any help at all, they should be helped to understand the new culture a lot better before they could get involved this deeply.

Wait they don't get offered counselling or anything?. I imagine a lot of them have seen enough people die - based on annacdotes of civilians going over there.

They're used to experiencing violence by this point, they really ought to have tried to given them some sort of eduction  or even somewhere to work among groups of refugees, migrants and natives in simple jobs...

However this backwards ideas of middle east is not because of themselves, for the past 35 years middle east has been getting bombed by europe and america non-stop. These nations never had the chance to grow, build schools, build business', build farms and basically become a decent country. They have been war thorn for decades now and obviously because of this they never became the old culture they used to be, they became close minded with hatred because of this. If you could have stopped killing them, maybe instead of growing full with hate towards others due to being bombed constantly and having to run away from their own nations to the nations that bombed them, they could have stayed in their own nation and grow bigger peacefully.

... Yeah

I was just thinking of the headlines we'd actually get if what the UK, France and the US were doing were considered terrorism and not attempting to "play the white guy"... "hundreds of innocents killed by unmanned drones just for gathering in the streets in groups" and "European soldiers sent to fight alongside rebels who are considered less corrupt at this point"... No wonder the radicalisation plans worked so well...

I don’t even understand why Putin needs to do it

He doesn't need to do it, but the fact is that he can do it with impunity. Putin is untouchable in Russia, and so is able to crush all opposition. And as recent history has shown, other countries will do nothing to stop him. China is an ally, the US under Trump has turned its back on the world, the EU is scared.
Putin invaded multiple countries when Obama was president, and Obama did nothing, actually less than nothing as Obama and Clinton as secretary of State "reset" relations with Putin.

Putin does this because he needs to scare his population into obedience. If the Russians do not heed to Putin's power, his government will fall. There is a possibility (although small) that Putin's government will not surivie due to the unpopularity of their response to the coronavirus.

Russia does not have free and fair elections, but Putin still directs Russians to vote every so often. There have been some local elections in which the opposition party has made gains.

The point is that Putin wants to scare his opposition from putting forward effective candidates, and preventing an effective from campaigning

That's literally one of the big reasons that Russia invaded Crimea.

#1. Show his people that they have military dominance over another country and ensure people in the country know their place.

#2. Show his people that he is openly disobeying the West and there is nothing that the West can do to stop him. He's trying to show that he is stronger then them.

Putin will literally be in power for his entire life. Guy isn't going to go away at some point. His leadership style in Russia has worked to maintain the oligopoly and maintain his power. Crazy shit, but that's Russia for ya.
If Obama had done anything meaningful to help Crimea, Putin would have backed off. Unfortunately, he and Biden did nothing and Putin was able to get away with the invasion without consequences.

If Biden is elected, I would expect both Taiwan and more of the Ukraine to fall to China and Russia respectively. I would also expect more of this kind of scare tactics against dissidents in both Russia and China. Both countries know they can get away with this kind of thing with a Biden administration.

Pretty sure the Chinese are a big fan of Biden due to the fact that he isn't going to be as hard on China as Trump is, or was for that matter.

Russia I'm not so sure on what their plan is. I personally don't think they care for any particular candidate though they do care about causing chaos and divide in the US. Plus Putin gets to be the strongman leader of his country which is the only reason that he still has power.

Guess we'll find out in less then a week what we're looking at, lol.

You might have heard about the new beheading in Nice
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/29/one-person-killed-after-knife-attack-in-nice-france

But don't worry about it. You can't blame the whole religion for any one person that goes on beheading people. Such activities are common and there's nothing to be surprised of. It's part of the culture. Beheading, stoning, public whipping, french people should get used to it. After all France is a place for personal freedom.

Death count was updated to 3 apparently. One guy with a knife beheads a woman while screaming "allahu akbar". France is going to deal with Islamists through a counter-terrorism insurgency, aka government surveillance like they did in the U.S. post 9/11.

HERE COMES FREEDOM AND PRIVACY /S

Yeah, I'd assume that support for that sort of thing is high just like it was in the US after 9/11. Obviously this isn't to the same level, even if 1 death is too many.

To be fair, I know many good Muslims, so to generalize all of them is a warmonger beheading infidel is wrong.
France's problem is they have opened their border, so the wrong type of Muslims enters the country.

They should build the wall (TM) and kick the radical immigrant out of the country. They need Muslims who are pork eaters, alcohol drinkers, and gamblers. We have plenty here.

Pretty sure that's not what me and others are doing here. I know many great Muslims as well, and I honestly dont care if they eat pork, drink, or gamble. Like -- WHO THE HELL CARES JUST DONT KILL PEOPLE.

What is the most recent example you can think of?

Great question. Not a fan of people just randomly being like - "YEAH BUT CHRISTIANITY AND JUADISM DOES IT TOO"

Like shit, when it the last time you heard of someone in the Christian faith beheading someone because they're teaching something that goes against the bible? Or for the Jewish people, the torah. That'd be some frontpage news shit as well. Peoples heads are supposed to stay ON THEIR BODY.

The PCR-Test only shows the nucleic acids, not the virus, it cannot detect any infection.
The PCR test cannot prove whether the virus is capable of replication, whether it actually reproduces in the host and whether the person is causally ill with it.
If this virus * RNA is on the surface of the smear during the PCR test, it does not yet mean that it is in the cells and that there is an intact, reproductive virus load.

Anyone will have a posivive result if cycled 60 times, only 35 times and anyone is negative. Every labor is free to choose how often it magnifies.

The PCR test is 100% fraudulent.

That's literally just not true at all.

The PCR test finds if someone actively has COVID. It is literally one of the best tests for helping to screen if someone has COVID very early on, as it can help to determine a result BEFORE any symptoms begin.

Are there potential issues with the tests? Yes - 30% false negative is nothing to be happy about. Though it does help to screen people who do have it and remove the majority of them from an area before more people become infected.

Answer to this question seems like YES. I don't really understand it, as Harris is literally just someone who flips their policies around for whatever is popular at the time. She doesn't really care about anything. She's LITERALLY A COP in terms of her drug arrested and such. Progressives don't really vibe with Biden, so I guess Harris is something for them.
