Has Bitstamp changed the look of its Tradeview page? I am not able to make the chart fill the page horizontally anymore. The orderbook and the order entry form take valuable horizontal space beside the chart. Previously, they could be put below it. I'm not logging on - just using the public tradeview page.

Anyone know if it can be fixed?

Here is the Bitstamp BTCUSD chart. It can be made to fill the page.

The first room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor has been discovered! Holy shit.

source: https://arxiv.org/abs/2307.12008

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtVjGWpbE7k There is a video of them testing the K-99 against a magnet. What are those sounds, I wonder?

Not a peer-reviewed study, so I would withhold comments, apart from saying: let's see someone reproducing the result.
Great if it works, quite unusual method.

Well, it is arxiv. Obviously not peer reviewed. But the authors are credible. We should know in mere days or even hours if the result is reproduced. As I understand it, the method is so easy that anyone with a decent solid state lab could do it.

Exactly. Arxiv is a mixed bag, but it is often legitimately used to mark the territory before a "real" journal publishes the work. The waiting time for peer review can be substantial, and peer reviewers are humans with specific, deep expertise in the field. It might turn out it isn't below them to... hmm... receive strong inspiration from the paper they are reviewing, and publish some landmark result before the reviewed paper sees the light.

If it's real, it is big. Yuuge, actually.

Because the source is missing and I have some qualified doubts you are the author of said piece I have taken the freedom to report your plagiarism:

Not sure, but I've just grown my ignore list a little bit, thanks to you and @nutildah.

Thanks for elaborating, JJG!

You're right that the automated purchases are just a fallback if/when I can't/forget to/can't be bothered to do it manually. Which I am used to doing anyway. It's just to make sure some kind of DCA goes on even if I am not tending to it.

I think I can set up the exact hour. I'm going to check.

Hello, I'm setting up an automated weekly DCA. Can some of the knowledgeable gentlemen here suggest the day of week with statistically lowest prices?

The best day of buying bitcoin Sunday
The Second best day of buying bitcoin Saturday.

Read more details: https://coincodex.com/article/25506/best-day-of-the-week-to-buy-crypto/

Thanks for your reply.
The linked article, however, lists the days with the largest UPpity in price. As if I were to sell on the same day.

Quote from: coincodex
What is the best day to buy Bitcoin?

Over the years, Saturday has emerged as the best day of the week to buy Bitcoin, with the coin gaining 0.413% on average on that day. According to historical data, Monday is the second-best day to buy Bitcoin due to an average increase of 0.360%. Friday is the only day of the week that Bitcoin has shown negative growth over the years.

Interestingly, out of the 50 biggest single-day spikes in the last 7 years, 10 occurred on Thursday, 9 each on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 each on Monday and Saturday, 5 on Friday, and only 2 on Sunday.

What I'm looking for - and haven't yet been able to find - is the day with the average lowest price in the week.

Congratulations, you've just been successfully added to the ignore list!

You obviously don't realize that this is Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion

I've just added 3 entries to my own. It used to be empty even when Roach, nullius and the like were posting daily.

if BRICS established a gold backed currency where you have to trust some country on holding the actual gold reserves in vaults, putting the Dollar on a more transparent Bitcoin standard would be an adequate response to keep the dominance as the world currency.

That dominance, I am afraid, is being eroded every day. I don't think a hard (or semi-hard) currency is going to happen in the US any time soon.

I just wonder are the SEC gonna approve the Bitcoin ETF since Black rock is number 1 the world's largest asset managers

Maybe the reason won't be because they're so powerful, but because they just play by the rules others have written for them. If we take into account their position when it comes to forks, it is possible that at some point they (BR) will launch some new fork and claim that their BTC is the right one - and will most then side with them because they are so powerful, or will they show them the middle finger as was the case with BTC Trash (bch)?

Quote
In the event of a hard fork of the Bitcoin network, the Sponsor will, as permitted by the terms of the Trust Agreement, use its sole discretion to determine, in good faith, which peer-to-peer network, among a group of incompatible forks of the Bitcoin network, is generally accepted as the Bitcoin network and should therefore be considered the appropriate network for the Trust’s purposes.

The Sponsor will base its determination on whatever factors it deems relevant, including but not limited to, the Sponsor’s beliefs regarding expectations of the core developers of bitcoin, users, services, businesses, miners and other constituencies, as well as the actual continued acceptance of, mining power on, and community engagement with, the Bitcoin network, or whatever other factors it deems relevant.

There is no guarantee that the Sponsor will choose the digital asset that is ultimately the most valuable fork, and the Sponsor’s decision may adversely affect the value of the Shares as a result. The Sponsor may also disagree with Shareholders, the Bitcoin Custodian, other service providers, the Index Administrator, cryptocurrency exchanges, or other market participants on what is generally accepted as bitcoin and should therefore be considered “bitcoin” for the Trust’s purposes, which may also adversely affect the value of the Shares as a result.

Thanks for the link, Richy_T.

I see it's the RT - Russian Times... of course that particular article is not making too many waves on this side of the curtain. Yet. If other BRICS countries come out with a similar statement, it might get some traction.

BRICS countries confirm gold backed currency definitely under development = crickets.

Would you go on a date with Ivanka Trump if she paid you 1 #Bitcoin ?
The only catch is you have to wear a MAGA hat and she will call you “Daddy” for the entirety of the date.  Grin

I'm contemplating asking making a plea to theymos to turn off merits for the WO thread. Yay or nay?

Nay. I find merit whores amusing.

If anything, figure out a way to ban any linking to Twitter. That's what's really annoying.

I second that from a slightly different angle. I never used the Ignore button much in the past, but I've taken a recent liking to it.

Banning links to Twitter seems a bit too draconian to me. As long as the OGs know better, merit whores will be mostly left empty handed here.
