Für komplementäre Regionalwährungen (wie auch Wörgl und so) ist Freigeld ja auch fein, weil es einfach die lokale Wirtschaft fördert. Aber im großen (nationalen/globalen) Kontext gilt das Gesetz der unbeabsichtigten Folgen. Im Prinzip ist es durchaus wie ein Zins, wenn mein verliehenes Geld nominell nicht an Wert verliert, das ganze ist nur anders nominiert und dargestellt. Keynes hat ja Gesell gelobt, Inflation ist ja makroökonomisch dem Freigeld eben sehr ähnlich (Geld verliert Wert), nur hielt er eine Umlaufgebühr halt praktisch für schlecht durchführbar (was sich für elektronische Währungen natürlich erübrigt). Wie gesagt ist das ganze nur anders nominiert und dargestellt (auch wenn besser für die Arbeiter, denn sie müssten nicht ständig ihr Gehalt neu verhandeln). Man darf nicht vergessen, zu Gesells Zeiten gab's die Ansätze von heute wie Geldmengensteuerung noch gar nicht. Man wollte damals die Probleme beheben, die durch gold- oder silbergedeckte Währungen auftraten. Das hat man inzwischen versucht ganz ähnlich zu lösen. Auch beim Gesell soll man das an Wert verlierende Geld natürlich investieren, so wie das heut auch schon so gut funktioniert: In Blasen am Immobilien- und Aktienmarkt, und immer schön Landgrabbing betreiben, damit alles andere Land auch teurer wird sowie alles, was drauf produziert wird...  Deswegen wollte der Gesell auch mit seinem "Freiland" eine Landreform. Land wär bei ihm dann eher sozialistisch organisiert gewesen. Aber dann bräucht man eine Reform für alles, wo die Leute mit ihrem Kapital hinflüchten könnten. Darum sind meiner Meinung nach Gesells Theorien kein "dritter Weg", wie er sie selbst nennt, sondern einfach nur ein instabiles Zwischending aus Sozialismus und Kapitalismus. |

Freicoins könnten theoretisch schon auch ohne Zwang in Umlauf kommen, weil sie Kredite zu annähernd 0% versprechen (laut deren Proponenten, allerdings hab ich da so meine Zweifel).
Man hätte dann sowas wie ein duales Währungssystem, Freicoins zum ausgeben und Bitcoins zum sparen.

Bei Bircoin24 hatten wir Werte von 25 EUR und bei MtGox um die 40 EUR als Tiefststände.
Biercoin24 mmmh  Die 25 EUR warn aber nur bei dem Exchange, weil die Leute gepanickt haben wegen diesem bekannten Bug dort. Warte doch mal die nächste Woche ab. Bei Gox warten noch über 25000 Leute dadrauf freigeschaltet zu werden.. Das heißt, wie wir gesehen haben, gar nix. Viele neue Benutzer amplifizieren eher den gegenwärtigen Trend, machen die trampelnden Herden stärker und erhöhen damit nur die Volatilität. |

Welcome to Freicoin. imho, demurrage makes sense for regional currencies as it encourages local spending, but macro-economically (i.e. on national or global scale) it will have the same effect as inflation: the flight into assets that don't lose value, like stocks, land, real estate, creating all the bubbles we know so well there. |

das wag ich zu bezweifeln, wenn du zurück zu monetären Systemen aus dem Industriezeitalter willst. Du kannst ja mal eine konstant inflationierende Cryptowährung einführen und schaun, ob sie Akzeptanz erfährt. Bitcoin ist übrigens weder inflationär noch deflationär, sondern einfach ein Asset, das Angebot und Nachfrage unterliegt. Solang eine Währung nicht durch einen echten Staat gedeckt ist und quasi auferzwungen wird, gelten solche Begriffe nicht. Die Zukunft kann eher ein vielfältiges Ökosystem an Tauschsystemen sein. Das wird eher was sein, das auf sowas wie Ripple aufbaut. |

Gibts da Bestätigungen für die Behauptung, dass Leute die Google entwickelt haben sich jetzt mit Bitcoin beschäftigen? Ich hab im Netz nix gefunden. Wer sind diese Leute und was haben sie vor? Diese Info wäre enorm wichtig.

Ich weiß nur von einem Google-Mitarbeiter (!), der zB bitcoinj geschrieben hat. i don't think the higher price of bitcoins here has anything to do with any higher standard of living here.  i guess it may have to do with european exchanges not having as much depth as mtgox. |

Which brings me to my other complaint with her.... She supported intellectual property. Probably why she couldn't quite accept getting rid of government entirely.
I think Tom Woods describes a concept of Intellectual Property without a state somewhere. btw, from my pov there's not much difference between intellectual property and property property. |

The whole argument is ridiculous even by Krugman's low standards.
It may be true that gold and silver are less than optimal currencies for an economy, as their exchange value would rise above their use value, making them more expensive for those who want to actually use them in electronics etc (although that's obviously also the case when they aren't official currencies like today; so what could Soviet Krugman do about it anyway).
But the output of Bitcoin mining isn't such a resource; in fact it's one of the most optimal, side-effect-free stores of value imaginable.

There have been many good pieces written on the dubious economics of Bitcoin; I especially liked this one by Neil Irwin. One thing I haven’t seen emphasized, however, is the extent to which the whole concept of having to “mine” Bitcoins by expending real resources amounts to a drastic retrogression — a retrogression that Adam Smith would have scorned.
Smith actually wrote eloquently about the fundamental foolishness of relying on gold and silver currency, which — as he pointed out — serve only a symbolic function, yet absorbed real resources in their production, and why it would be smart to replace them with paper currency:
The gold and silver money which circulates in any country, and by means of which, the produce of its land and labour is annually circulated and distributed to the proper consumers, is, in the same manner as the ready money of the dealer, all dead stock. It is a very valuable part of the capital of the country, which produces nothing to the country. The judicious operations of banking, by substituting paper in the room of a great part of this gold and silver, enable the country to convert a great part of this dead stock into active and productive stock; into stock which produces something to the country. The gold and silver money which circulates in any country may very properly be compared to a highway, which, while it circulates and carries to market all the grass and corn of the country, produces itself not a single pile of either. The judicious operations of banking, by providing, if I may be allowed so violent a metaphor, a sort of waggon-way through the air, enable the country to convert, as it were, a great part of its highways into good pastures, and corn fields, and thereby to increase, very considerably, the annual produce of its land and labour.
And now here we are in a world of high information technology — and people think it’s smart, nay cutting-edge, to create a sort of virtual currency whose creation requires wasting real resources in a way Adam Smith considered foolish and outmoded in 1776.
