How did i miss this coin ill never know, but seriously i thought it was a joke at first when i saw their video, i must say that its been professionally made.
It seems its for real with all the places it can be spent, but how come sexcoin never got anywhere in the time its been around?

Owners of these porn sites made this stupid coin.

Yeah thats what i reckon, it will either be a major success, or just a fad.

I wonder if they have premined much?
2003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 27, 2014, 12:46:01 AM
The scammer dumped his coins already, the large wallets would belong to exchanges who have frozen withdrawals for now. .

Nope, they have the same amount for more then 7 days now. But hey, if everyone is ok with it, then there should be no problem with that. But there are still problems like domain(name), funds, dev team, shady name, promotion and the loss of trust from investors. If we can overcome this (specially the creation of a new dev team) it has potential to come back stronger then it was. If the crew also reveal their identity like the Vericoin crew did, then we are standing in front of a new dimension of cryptos. Instead of calling it the dev team, we better call it a foundation. And with the decentralized social media and marketplace in your wallet, it is like you take the first step on the moon as in 1969.

I dont see it as a shady name, the term "silk road" was originally an ancient trade route, nothing to do with the black market.
That name was adopted for that black market site, so they never come up with the name themselves.

Anyway, i think the word "silk" describes something expensive and luxurious - something that is rare in cryptos.

From what i understand from reading everything here, bholzer is basically acting as an interim dev.
He will keep it going until the time that a new dev team comes on board.
I can expect that this could take some time.

Hmm, then we have there our little hickup for good progress in the coin. Other problem i have is this. The original devs perhaps have millions of coins. Now the community is going to invest in the development en with great luck and superior coding maybe we get lucky and the coin starts up again gaining trust and investors. The value is rising, and who get's all the money? The original devs. And to be honest....that sucks!

Think there are a lot of problems we are going to face to build this coin back up. There has to be some kind of meeting of people who are trying to build this all up and ask our self...how much is it worth to bring SC back up? Is it not better to pick a different name, but with the same ideas the original dev(s) had and start all over?

Yes, i know that this means that the original coins are worthless then. But please, do we really want to invest a lot of money, time and effort just to make the original devs rich? I mean, with every 1mil coins with a price of $0.05 makes $50.000, just for doing nothing. If everyone answers my question with a yes, then we have a strong based community and then we can work this out together. But the problem remains that we do not have a steady dev team already, is a little fucked up, if i may say so.

It's a discussion question, not a fud one.

odds are the original devs have already cashed out. I think a lot of people would like to see this coin come back as they do have a lot of money invested in it, myself included, and would like it to be worth something again.

Just dumping it because the old "might" still have coins is not a good enough reason.

Again I see NO way the original devs still have any of the premine left. They knew the ship was going down and the first thing they would have done was to sell it all off.

I dont think the original devs hold any SC, the premine was dumped when it was only worth $6k

Website design is what i do most for clients. I made silkcoin.nl in just 2 hours. I could take that job.

What i am very curious of is...can the dev fulfill the original ideas behind SC? Like openbazaar implementation and exchange? And do we need more devs?

I can expect that this could take some time.

If you can design a good website and the community agrees, then you may very well fit the job.
We will probably need some editors who can add content to the site too, news articles, updates etc.
I expect a good CMS system will do the job nicely.

I dont know what platform most of the coins websites are using, but its plain obvious they are all using near identical templates.
I see that silkcoin.com is parked with godaddy.com
I dont know if its possible to find the owner and see if it can be purchased.

Hi everyone,
Looks like things are going to turn for the better very soon.

I was thinking we need to sort out a marketing team.
Does anyone here have experience in advertising, marketing, etc?

Anyone who can help, list your skills here.

Once the wallet goes live, we need to reassure investors that have been burnt that everything is now in control.
I expect that there are possibly a few investors who dont even know whats happened yet.

Anyway, I think the camel has served its marketing purpose very well here.

Camels can survive in the wild for weeks without water, what this coin is doing the same thing, it has survived through the unthinkable.

We need to come back with a professional approach, we all thought this coin was indeed very professionally run from the start, the wallet, the website etc, we need to maintain that professional side, but do it even better.

If anyone can come up with some really good memes, etc that entertain, thats a start, we need things to go viral on the forums etc.

Again, brainstorm your ideas, once we have a plan, we can look at the options for redesigning the website, etc.
2009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 26, 2014, 06:27:55 AM
Sorry for my relative silence here this evening guys; busy day (every once in a while the real-world gets in the way, you know?) I'm sorting through the comments and working on getting your thoughts organized so they can be more easily processed and grouped. For now, before getting too deep into things, my thinking is this: give me another day to work on this client while you continue brainstorming. If we can get the latest client rocking and rolling and get the exchanges updated it will certainly reduce the pressure chamber we are all currently in. There have been some great proposals and if we want to tweak things or create a hardfork we can certainly discuss that. If the fact that I manage another coin is a concern to people, I acknowledge your concern but struggle to follow the logic there; if that proves to be an issue, I don't need to be involved beyond the creation of the new clients if that is what you guys would prefer.

Obviously there are a lot of emotions involved here; people have coins stuck unconfirmed in exchanges, people have coins stuck in exchanges, people have clients that are crashing and coins that are missing locally, and you guys are still dealing with the reality of the situation that unfolded and blindsided you - I completely understand. I'm fine with everybody taking a step back and making a calculated, informed decision whether I'm involved or not. At this point, I'm assuming you all want me to continue pushing forward on the new client, correct? My intention was to proceed as planned if that is still the case. I realize I came out of nowhere but felt like it made the most sense for an outsider with a good reputation, both here and beyond, to take this project over; I truly hate seeing people get ripped off and I'm disgusting by what the cryptocurrency world is becoming - I want to be part of the change for the better. It's clear this arrangement remains open for debate; fair enough. Please not I'm not offended in any way and I'm not looking to step on toes or create addition friction... I'm just looking to get you guys back up and running and we'll go from there. I'm not asking for anything in return until I deliver each step of the way.

Keep the conversation going.

I agree with everything you have said.
Keep up your good work, i agree that getting a stable client working is the most important thing to do first.
I dont personally have any issues with you working on this project, despite you developing murraycoin.

Secondly, we need to sort out PR issues, website, reddit, etc.

Has anyone been in contact with the major exchanges to keep them in the loop with whats going on?

Has there been any recent activity from Silkcoin here? e.g Private messages to any members here etc?
We really need to see if he will hand over his BTT account, and domain name if nothing else. If not, we need to really do something about the website, i dont know what options we have if the domain name stays in their ownership.

Thats the main issues i can see for now.

But i feel brainstorming is great, we all need to discuss what we would like as a community to achieve, if doesnt matter if we dont all agree on an idea, lets just bring new ideas to the table.
2010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 26, 2014, 01:25:54 AM
I agree, White. I don't have the skills myself and hopefully we can find those willing.
We really need to find prominent devs who have got a good reputation in the crypto scene, im sure we will find some kicking about here who have worked on other coins.

If vericoin is doing the built in exchange with BTC, then thats something we really need to look at, from what i understand, this was supposedly planned for SC.

Does anyone feel that we should increase the staking percentage for a brief period as an incentive? Maybe bring it up to 5- 10% for a week or two?

Its all good thanks, do i have to perform a "boot local node" every time i start the client?
I wasnt sure if the nodename was one i had to connect to or create myself! lol
2012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 25, 2014, 10:43:43 PM

We can contact the mods and see what they say; I believe they would be willing to do that. Really, I would hope "SilkCoin" could close that thread - it's honestly the least he could do at this point after what he's done. Why add insult to injury, you know? Regardless, we'll make it work whichever way required.

Yes, that would be great if he can do that, has he logged i lately i wonder?
2013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open alpha has launched[Updates & Discussion] on: June 25, 2014, 10:29:15 PM
When "booting the local node" what should the node name be?

Whatever you wish, e.g. Exergy!

I actually tried this, but I get "NIS Validation Error". What exactly does booting the local node do?

I already ran the server before starting the client, so is it actually already running?

booting actually connects you to nem network, before that you are disconnected and unsynched

What do i use as a node name?

this worked out really good for pink coin so good luck. I wonder why you just wouldn't make your own coin though instead of starting with a crapload of this shit. what exactly did they leave you to work with a camel?

For starters, it is already trading on all major exchanges, it has wide distribution (despite the collapse) and, the most important element, we have a built-in community that is motivated and resilient. We don't need a new coin; there are certainly plenty of altcoins out there (in fact, I already have my own coin I manage and maintain) - we need to bring back this coin. People are invested in this and if we can save those investments and turn this mess into something positive I believe it would be symbolic; proof that great things can happen even in this increasingly dark world. At the risk of sounding philosophical, if we can come back bigger and stronger and make SilkCoin a success we will have done something for the greater good of more than just SilkCoin - more than just cryptocurrency - but humanity as well. There will always be con artists, criminals, and heartless greed in this world; it is human nature. Unfortunate as that may be, however, I believe there is more good than evil out there and, as insignificant as this goal may be in the big picture, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. People lost more than money here - they lost faith in people and many lost hope. While I certainly hope they learn some things along the way, I want to give that faith back to them. If we work together, we can do this and set a precedent.

+1

BTW, is it going to be possible to close the original SilkCoin Thread without Silkcoin doing so?

How long do transactions take to appear?
I had some sent to me a few mins ago, but nothing has shown.

I think its only onwards and upwards here guys Smiley

Ive reinvested and i never though i would do so.
All i know is that bholzer will be doing a great job and i think we all owe it to him for saving this coin.

Lets just move forward and look to the future Smiley

I want to buy back into SC, but when is a good time?
Will prices fall further when bittrex opens up trading again?

For what it's worth I just picked up 250,000 on MintPal. Like bholzer said the cancer has been removed from this project now. I know you guys hate me so I will keep my presence to a minimum  Smiley

Fair enough, i love it how you have bought some.
I do apologise for calling you a troll, but seriously the way you came across, i didnt take your word, lets move on and make a great community Smiley

I was a dick man. I can man up and admit that. I'm sorry for the insults and all that as well. I was just so upset that everybody was buying into what was clearly a scam from my perspective. I hated that dev. With bholzer as the captain on the first leg of this new journey I totally believe in it. Moreso him than Silkcoin itself but still. It definitely seems funny that I bought in but hell I'm a believer now. I paid between 620 and 688 for the 250k which is pennies on the dollar. When in Rome right? bholzer is a baller. I agree we move on and start building the community back up. I'm in this thing with you all now. This negative trust rating probably isn't helping our case but I'm working to get it removed as it was completely fraudulent. The same guy that gave me this rating did the same thing to 2 other guys as well claiming they were my "other accounts" which they weren't. Guessing those guys are pissed too.

Quite possibly, all we have to do now is reorganise everything and sort out a new team, and discuss our future plans as a community.

I cant believe how i was in so much despair last night, and now its turned to excitement.
