2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Whatsminer DCR 44TH on: August 06, 2018, 02:11:54 PM
The DCR is indeed more powerful and efficient than any Decred miner right now, but I agree with Phil that the wait time is pretty long and anything could happen with profitability, difficulty, etc before then. Most of the risk lies in the time before the miner's shipped, as there will probably be more Decred miner developments before this thing is shipped out. It's up to you in the end, but most people here don't like long preorders, and I don't either.
2002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does convince people to enjoy gambling is a wrong idea? on: August 06, 2018, 01:27:24 PM
I personally wouldn't convince someone to consider gambling because of the risks involved for whoever you're trying to convince. I'd feel extremely guilty if someone that I invited to try gambling became addicted, and it's all too common for someone to become addicted to gambling and leave their life in shambles, and you don't know how they're going to react to gambling for the first time, and whether they'll be responsible or not, even if you tell them about the risks they might still become addicted.

It's a bit like people giving advice about the law on the internet, but giving a disclaimer that they're not a lawyer and not responsible for whatever happens as a result of the advice being followed.
2003  Economy / Exchanges / Re: yobit or hitbtc on: August 03, 2018, 02:23:30 AM
I am also looking for information on these two exchanges because my token is only found in both, and in conclusion the best option would be hitbtc, I guess that its good volumes guarantee a better exchange and its history of scams has been lower compared to yobit.
Yep, it's unfortunate that your token is only listed on these two exchanges, but HitBTC's definitely the lesser of the two evils. There's no reason to use YoBit anymore given the many issues it's had, mostly regarding wallets, and there's so many that it's difficult to name them all. Besides that, their site hasn't changed a bit since 2015 when I first found out about them, and YoBit probably won't spend the money to change their old site theme.
2004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sometimes enough is enough on: August 03, 2018, 02:03:48 AM
Wow, that's quite a story! I've made some new conclusions in relation to gambling. First: you shouldn't be superstitious when your money is on, that what really can make you lose money. Once I was crazy about number 3 so I did everything for three times in dice (don't mean just betting, a whole set of bets with particular numbers) hoping that for the third time I'll win. It didn't last for long, however made me lose some money. Second: you should never ever go beyond planned expenditure amounts for a day. Selling phone - sounds crazy, but not as crazy as a fact that gamblers can go as far as selling their apartments and borrowing money. And the last but not least: if you are hazardous and going out for a play you need to hire an authorised delegate to control your expenses.

What you said about being superstitious regarding the number 3, that's called gamblers fallacy.
You start believing that you're owed a win on that number, while in reality it's entirely possible that that number never hits when you're playing.

Never try to see patterns in the numbers that are hit on the board. That really messes a lot of people up.

that is why it is  better to gamble in sports betting where winning is small but in long term ROI you will be in good profit. I have lost lot of my wealth when was playing casino and dice but thank god I joined sports betting and almost recovered my loss
Sports betting is still gambling in the end, and if you mismanage your bets there is still the chance of losing your money, but it is definitely different from traditional gambling where probabilities are precalculated and the games have built in house edge so you're guaranteed to lose in the long run. As with all gambling, betting has lots of risk involved, but correct management of funds and not gambling what you can't afford to lose could net you a profit. I personally like to invest my crypto and lend for long-term gains as it's safer than betting, however.
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining is profitable? on: August 03, 2018, 01:56:36 AM
Even if you have cheap electricity there's still significant risk involved in mining at the moment, though you do have an advantage over users with an average electrical cost of $0.10/kWh. Break-even times are still near a year or over depending on card prices, even at such a low electrical rate.

Noise may also be a problem if you're utilizing ASICs to mine (though some ASICs like the Z9 Mini aren't as loud as traditional Antminers). GPU rigs tend to be quieter, but you'll have to accommodate for heat just like with any mining rig.
2006  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Honeyminer? on: August 03, 2018, 01:50:55 AM
Seems very user-friendly and, as stated on the site, 'makes mining and earning money simple for anyone with a computer.'. Might not be extremely profitable, but the way this piece of software is positioned it may make people look into crypto more. It's definitely not the greatest for dedicated graphics like Raja said ($0.79/day with a 1070 vs $1.12 before elec on Nicehash), but it's simple and easy to run. I do like that they state in their FAQ that this miner isn't the greatest for experienced miners and that they'll be releasing a Pro version soon; I'll be watching out for that.
2007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My video card stop working and I didn't even make enough money to make my money on: August 02, 2018, 11:04:33 PM
If you did purchase a secondhand card, it is unfortunate that the card died prematurely but you are always taking a risk buying used cards. There's really no way to make sure that a card was run how the seller described, and it's not always easy to determine how hard a card's been pushed.

If your card was new, RMA is always possible as everyone's mentioned above. I assume that's not the case as you're venting here.
2008  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: DO NOT USE BTCFROG.COM TO GENERATE BITCOIN QR CODES! on: August 02, 2018, 10:32:34 PM
What a scam.
Their text box is coded in a way that even you just put a single number of 1 or 3, it still go through the process and were replace by their own address.

Sadly they have already accumulated some free depo amounting to 0.4+ btc
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1BmNTQLzFN9AY9tazHnGLT2efzgwQxLRVe

How the hell did they reached the top 3 rank result? and even have a google ads on their website. Ridiculous.
It's not extremely difficult to get a high search result on search engines if you have someone doing SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on your website, which can be somewhat costly but the scam's likely covering the costs, and there are many sites out there with Google ads on their websites that shouldn't be there. If a report is made to the site, there is a chance that they'll have ad revenue cut though or something of the sort.

2009  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A more robust mining calculator on: August 02, 2018, 10:19:31 PM
Mining calculators aren't extremely accurate like you said, but this sure beats the BTC.com calculator I've been using that also factored in difficulty, and it seems like this has many more features that are actually useful. Thank you for this post, still digesting all the information here but the charts are nice and extremely detailed (and the entire calculator as a whole!)

I also like the specificity of the predetermined hardware parameters with the Innosilicon T2 with the modes that it has.
2010  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sky Mining CEO Disappears With $35 Million on: August 02, 2018, 08:34:57 PM
Another cloud mining site that goes scam. I always wonder what people fall into this scam but I suppose that some people fall for the quick rich scheme these sites offer.
I find it's mostly people that don't frequent this part of the forums, or people that haven't discovered Bitcointalk yet, as well as the people that just have too much trust in these schemes. People will fall for these scams for as long as Bitcoin and crypto exists, but it helps most people here are against cloudmining.

ICOs are also relatively risky, as detailed in the end of the linked article in the OP, but typically not all of them end up with an exit scheme that's common with cloudmining operations.
2011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO][BOUNTY]🌙🌙🌙 Moonlite Bounty Campaign 🌙 🌙🌙 [2MIL BOUNTY] on: August 02, 2018, 12:59:11 PM
I hope you get paid. I've warned about this project from day one when they failed to answer some basic questions. In addition, as noted above, never help to promote a project where the bounty manager has a negative trust rating. It in itself is a huge red flag.
aTriz was green-trusted when he started managing the campaign and only got red trust right near the time that the tokens were supposed to be distributed. All the promotion was already done by the time aTriz was red trusted. The tokens are hardly worth anything now and not near ICO price anyways.

'I hope you never get paid'- Huh Questionable statement, but I guess that's to be expected when you act like a child and half 99% of your posts are just bounty posts shitting on the forums. Oh well.

"'I hope you never get paid'- Huh Questionable statement, but I guess that's to be expected when you act like a child and half 99% of your posts are just bounty posts shitting on the forums. Oh well" - Thank you for the personal insult based on something that I didn't post. I've posted that "I hope you get paid." Yet, you somehow twist it to have the exact opposite meaning. I assume it is an error on your part. Not something worth a personal insult.

I misread your post while skimming through, my apologies. Woke up fairly early today jetlagged and I guess my brain placed a word that wasn't there based on the other context of the sentence.

2013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASICminer Zeon 160,000 Sol/s Equihash!! on: August 02, 2018, 09:34:31 AM
Poorer price performance and efficiency than the A9 Zmaster that's released a month ago.
Exactly my thoughts on this- funnily enough ASICminer even claims that this is the world's most profitable miner in the product description, which is true for now but doesn't change the fact that it's priced horribly and the Z9 is a better machine overall like you mentioned.

Besides that, we don't even have any recent evidence of ASICminer delivering any miners (haven't seen anything about them in BTC mining speculation), and they don't have much of a track record ATM. They say they have a BTC miner out but I assume it's basically vaporware as I've only seen a tweet from their headquarters that it even works.

2014  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blocking cryptojacking on: August 02, 2018, 08:59:53 AM
I currently use nocoin and adblock (some are implementing browser mining blocks) on my computers, and I haven't seen any extreme CPU usage or evidence of mining on my computer since installing them. I use a 4C8T Haswell processor for doing everyday tasks, so I wasn't ever extremely affected by most sites doing browser mining, but my computer is definitely faster without it having to mine- I know that low core/thread count devices do get slowed down significantly when mining, though.
2015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Really! Where is the fun at? on: July 30, 2018, 08:45:56 AM
I personally compare the fun in gambling to clutching (winning a 1v1, 1v2, etc) in CS:GO- it gets your heart racing, adrenaline pumping, and I describe it as fun, even if I lose every now and then. That's why I play games like Counter-Strike, and gambling also provides a similar type of thrill to me.

There aren't any casinos near me, and the ones I've visited about an hour away don't provide such a good experience that I would drive an hour just to gamble there, so I like to gamble online; however, I will say that I have gone to casinos with friends in the past, and it has been an enjoyable experience. Trollboxes can be fun sometimes as well, but I typically use the ones on exchanges as I like to trade every now and then.
2016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help me mine with a gtx 960 on: July 29, 2018, 01:06:21 PM
There are also Ethash coins with lower DAG sizes that you might be able to mine with a 2GB card, but you still won't be making a whole lot of crypto. If you plan on mining and don't want to game, selling the 960 is a good idea.

You absolutely can still mine ETH with the 3GB 1060s, especially on OSes like Linux and with a bit of tweaking on Windows, but it's still better to get a 6GB card if you plan on mining ETH as the DAG size continues to increase. You get better performance with the 6GB cards anyhow, and the price gap is shrinking between the 3 and 6GB variants with all the deals recently. I regularly find deals for these cards on www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales.

Even the 200 series R9 cards and 7000 series from AMD are still profitable mining certain coins, though not by much and they'll likely become unprofitable soon if you're mining on non-free electricity. The 300 series cards are decent if you can find a good deal on them; I've found several 390s in my area on Craigslist for cheap and added them to a mining rig a few months ago. The 300 series is similar (a bit faster) in performance to the 200 in mining, and if power isn't a concern like you posted, whichever is cheaper works.
2017  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Issues logging in to BITLISH ? on: July 29, 2018, 12:25:27 PM
I can also confirm the site works fine browsing from a German VPN (site may be blocked in China, too lazy to disable VPN here). As for fixing the issue which is on your end, in addition to what Potato Chips has suggested, restarting and/or resetting your router might also help. If you're using Chrome or Firefox, giving us an error code that the site throws when you're unsuccessful at loading it also helps out.

In the future, try using a site like Is it down right now? You'll be able to determine if it's the fault of the webserver or your network that way without having to post here.
2018  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: LocalXe FREE BTC Give-away! 0.0005 BTC for free and 0.0007 Hero members on: July 29, 2018, 11:23:38 AM
LocalXe Username: leowonderful
LocalXe BTC Address: 34rapLyRruhGRc6zZfCDYJMeNwTK5NVMQm

I use Gmail as my email provider, and the LocalXe verification email didn't actually go into spam like some of you have said.

Personally, I'm indifferent about the exchange deposit address expiring after 15 hours as it's just a minor hassle to me. It would definitely be an improvement if you did make deposit addresses last longer, though.

I will say that I'm currently accessing the site on mobile and it's very navigable and user-friendly from what I'm seeing right now. I will say that there are minor grammatical errors when I read everything through thoroughly (the most noticeable being 'Select Your CtyptoCoin'), but as for actual functionality everything is good. As for aesthetics, I think the black-on-white contrast in the website's theme is a bit much (the black is extremely dark and could use some lightening IMO), but it's good enough.
2019  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Most secure wallets for Huge earnings... on: July 29, 2018, 11:07:17 AM
Some wallets do change their receive addresses on every transaction that comes in, especially mobile wallets. These wallets are called HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) wallets, and they just generate a new address from your extended public key (xPub) on each transaction coming in to your wallet for more security, but it's still safe to send to an old wallet.

Even if they don't show up anymore under a tab like "Recent addresses" or something of the sort, they're still safe to use because they are all generated from your xPub key, but I still recommend updating your addresses on exchanges, etc to a newly generated one every now and then.
2020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deposit Altcoins and withdraw bitcoin? on: July 29, 2018, 06:41:24 AM
If you're simply looking to bypass KYC and verifications, Binance is a good option (some have reported random verification, I haven't been hit yet), or an even better way is to simply go to a decentralized exchange like the Waves DEX. You'll definitely incur some fees, and it may take you some time to get the feel of the exchange, but in the end you avoid KYC and verification with a few fees.

Every service is going to cost you something. Nothing is completely free, but there are services with less fees than others.
