1041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASINOS AND SPORTSBOOKS CLAIMING TO BE THE BEST on: May 09, 2019, 07:32:10 PM
Don't worry about it. Actual feedback about a casino or sportsbook from real forum members here is much more important than whatever a site claims itself to be. Most if not all crypto casinos and sportsbooks have at least one thread or topic in this part of Bitcointalk, and reading the most recent few pages of an official thread for a casino and checking the trust of any account that represents the casino in question should give you a basic idea of how 'good' a site is and if it's legitimate or not.
1042  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin CONFIRMED BREAK OUT of Monthly & Weekly Resistance --> Targets of $6500+ on: May 09, 2019, 02:15:36 PM
Longs taking profits will also likely be an impediment on our way above $6000, and there’s likely still some significant resistance overhead near and above the $6000s where we dropped from in November. Overall surprised how well the bulls have kept the bears at bay though, most of the dips in the last few days and weeks have been very vigorously bought up, though I personally expect some sort of a correction very soon.
1043  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to Think Profitably - a Trader’s Mindset on: May 09, 2019, 01:52:05 PM
One thing many good traders recognize is that you do not always have to be trading; if you don’t feel comfortable with current market conditions and are unsure of what to do, simply don’t trade. Better to have money sitting on the sidelines waiting for a better entry than money being lost because you decided to open a trade at a bad time. I typically don’t trade in a bad mood either, as this can influence my decisions negatively and result in losses.
1044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which factors influence your decision of choosing an online crypto casino? on: May 09, 2019, 01:49:38 PM
1. KYC isn’t used in any form.
2. Site is well-optimized and fast on a desktop, works on mobile as well.
3. Site has fast support, gets back to tickets quickly and resolves problems promptly.
4. Site has some reputation; typically newer sites tend to scam more than older ones.
5. Low fees for withdrawal or none at all. Not a massive problem for bigger gamblers, but low fees help out those who don’t gamble large amounts of money.
6. Provably fair. I don’t play on sites that can’t easily prove games are legit.
1045  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Easy strat trading in profit on: May 09, 2019, 12:53:47 AM
Bots generally only work well when you've got a plan in mind that you're confident will work, but you want something to automate the process of executing that plan. If you've got little to no knowledge in trading bots likely won't work very well for you, though you can certainly learn and buy a bot and try to make a profit with any configurations you might come up with. You'll likely need time and a bit of money to test out new configurations you're trying out, and you'll also need to tweak your bot from time to time to ensure it's running as well as possible.
1046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Outside risk: similarities between gambling and trading? on: May 08, 2019, 11:05:42 PM
If you’re not skilled enough at trading and properly managing risk you might as well just go to a casino and gamble away the money you plan on trading. While trading can potentially provide somewhat consistent profits to some, most people end up throwing away money with trading; as long as you’re giving yourself an edge with every trade you make you can have a prediction accuracy of even 40–50% and still make money, as long as you’re managing your risk properly, whereas games like dice and roulette have a large amount of house edge and you are essentially guaranteed to lose money long-term.
This is correct yet chances or odds compared between with gambling and trading do really matters yet luck and skills is different yet nor to be applied on different things
which do simply lessen up the risk and the potential on making profits.

Someone would really need to know on how to manage risk if they are targeting for longer profits. Both have risk but on different levels.
There's also much less documentation on how to make money gambling compared to making money trading. There's a massive amount of material out there for you to study trading and various indicators and other strategies that can assist you in making money profit trading, whereas there's much less on managing risk and selecting the right games to play with gambling to make a profit, etc, though certain aspects of risk and your bankroll management can be transferred over. Really depends how much experience you've got in either trading or gambling that determines how good you are at it in the end, though I feel it's much easier to get into trading than gambling for a profit.
1047  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do we really know how to trade? on: May 08, 2019, 10:25:26 PM
Even experienced traders will eventually make a loss in trading; the difference is a more seasoned trader prepares for a loss unlike someone perhaps less skilled that doesn't manage risk properly and might end up with an empty account after one or two failed trades. Realistically you're never going to have a 100% success rate in trading, and even if you do have good accuracy at predicting price action, actively managing risk and maximizing the potential reward of a trade is what's going to make you profits.
1048  Economy / Speculation / Re: I know why Bitcoin is growing now! on: May 08, 2019, 08:47:35 PM
Users also don't lose any money in this particular exchange hack, so the market's response wasn't as bad as it could've been if peoples' accounts took a haircut as a result of the hacking, though the losses aren't too big for an exchange like Binance. It's also currently not easily possible for anybody to trade in USDT for actual USD AFAIK, so the Finex situation actually meant there was a bit more buying pressure as a result of people buying BTC on Finex and other exchanges to exit Tether.
1049  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why P2P Escrow Exchanges are gaining momentum - for all payment modes on: May 08, 2019, 08:36:25 PM
If you're choosing vendors with good reputation on a site like Paxful or LocalBitcoins you won't have too many problems in my experience, though it is indeed true that there are plenty of scammers on P2P trading sites and support doesn't always work to your advantage. I also typically get a better exchange rate buying BTC and other cryptocurrencies through a more centralized fiat exchange, though there are people out there who prefer to take the more anonymous route and P2P exchanges work perfectly for that purpose.
1050  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Withdraw problem on: May 08, 2019, 12:56:55 PM
Trading volume’s still not the best indicator that an exchange is legit because volume is pretty blatantly faked by exchanges nowadays, especially with newer exchanges. Feedback about an exchange from reputable forum members is far better than looking at any list when determining an exchange’s legitimacy. Even though CMC attempts to estimate actual volume the system still isn’t perfect.
1051  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Has Been Hacked - Lost 7,074 BTC on: May 08, 2019, 01:55:32 AM
Holy fuck $40 million dollars that is actually insane... At least they have the money to cover it apparently? I have like 10 cents BTC in there, but I was going to try and put more in lol good thing I waited.
Yup, seems the fees from their platform collected are being used to cover the stolen funds. Personally wondering how this entire hacking happened considering 2FA codes and API keys were retrieved, hope that information comes out soon as Binance starts investigating into this. Pretty nice they decided to be so transparent about this as well, but it's still a hacking and the market did respond negatively to this, and user funds are safe as already mentioned so things don't seem to be as bad as they potentially could've been.
1052  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A better way to invest in cryptocurrency. on: May 08, 2019, 01:05:52 AM
The worst thing you can do is put money into trading when you have no idea what you're doing, because you're most likely going to lose this money over the next few days or weeks that you start trading. If you want to start trading, start off with a small amount you can afford to completely lose and read up on the basics and then slowly add in a bigger amount. Learn basic risk management and the platform you're using and basic trading terminology at first so you're not completely lost.

Also remember TA does not perfectly predict the future. Things can and will go wrong with TA, though it does give you a slight edge with trading if you are using it correctly.
1053  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't let the holiday catch you - if you are a day trader. on: May 08, 2019, 12:48:01 AM
I'm not primarily a day trader as I have found I'm overall a better swing trader than a day trader, but I receive price movement alerts from apps so I can hop on an exchange like Bitmex quickly to quickly alter a position or open a new one. Ideally you'd be online at your desk making trades, but sometimes you've got to make do with a phone too. You can always just close out your trades before sleeping or before you plan on travelling, etc so you don't get liquidated or stopped out while you don't have access to your PC.
1054  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will transaction fees get in the way of the bull run? on: May 07, 2019, 11:55:37 PM
Fees are likely going to rise if prices start going up again as people try to move their coins to exchanges to sell them off for fiat, but I too suspect fees won't be too bad this time around unless TX spamming starts back up again. Very few services also accept LN at this moment in time, with no major exchanges accepting LN payments AFAIK so I don't see LN alleviating congestion very much should the bull run start up again. Though high fees aren't ideal, I don't see it being something significantly impeding the bull run. I'll gladly pay a few dollars to get my transaction(s) through quickly.
1055  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hmmm, what started it on: May 07, 2019, 12:51:37 PM
I was looking for a way to earn extra money in late 2014 and 2014 and I also enjoyed gambling online at the time, I was browsing through the internet and found the Bitmain miners and cryptocurrency. A few more searches introduced me to this forum and also the concept of cryptocurrency as a whole. Started trading occasionally a few months into 2015, and I still trade crypto to this day. I also gamble occasionally with cryptocurrency, and PayPal’s policies continuously getting worse has only further cemented my belief in crypto.
1056  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: May 07, 2019, 12:27:34 PM
Interesting, never thought Hashnest would ever start selling contracts for non-Bitmain miners but this proves I’m wrong. Seems like the G32-500 is priced at $4500 according to the Innosilicon site for the “regular price”, and the miner apparently isn’t shipping ‘till August according to Innosilicon as well, so I assume this is a preorder for the hosting of the miner?
1057  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's price break 5700 USD, is this uptrend or bulltrap? on: May 07, 2019, 12:11:18 PM
Looks pretty good so far considering the several attempts bears have made to dump back down have been bought right back up, and we haven’t fallen far from where we pumped on our first attempt to 5900. RSI on the 1 day seems overbought and selling pressure is still everywhere given this is a major resistance zone, but this does have a chance of breaking through 6K, although I am personally considering putting in a medium leverage short at the moment.

1059  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do bitmex make a load of profit when you're liquidated on: May 06, 2019, 11:31:04 AM
Yep, most of the time especially with high leverage when you get liquidated you make a large subsidy payment to the liquidation fund. That’s why I typically set a stoploss just a few dollars above my liquidation if I’m using higher leverage just to save a few bucks if I’m not using a higher up stop.

This Medium guide explains it well. https://medium.com/@BambouClub/how-bitmex-stop-losses-can-save-you-70-of-your-capital-and-how-to-set-up-a-stop-limit-cd4a730adfab
1060  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Instant withdrawal form betting site on: May 05, 2019, 12:40:06 AM
FortuneJack's withdrawals are almost instant in most cases (funds are usually sent a few minutes after being requested) except in some cases where a withdrawal might be coming from a new IP in a location where you've never logged in to your account before, etc for security reasons. I had a few problems with withdrawals on Fortunejack many months ago, but I've had none in the last few months. FJ also doesn't charge fees on withdrawals, and they're typically all high-fee TXes so you get your coins in one or two blocks.

Most of the other crypto gambling sites around here also offer essentially instant withdrawals as long as there aren't any inconsistencies with your account that might raise a red flag. Fees also shouldn't be that bad anymore for withdrawals on most exchanges, though there are certainly some exceptions.
