2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 25, 2014, 09:48:54 AM
I want to buy back into SC, but when is a good time?
Will prices fall further when bittrex opens up trading again?

For what it's worth I just picked up 250,000 on MintPal. Like bholzer said the cancer has been removed from this project now. I know you guys hate me so I will keep my presence to a minimum  Smiley

Fair enough, i love it how you have bought some.
I do apologise for calling you a troll, but seriously the way you came across, i didnt take your word, lets move on and make a great community Smiley
I was lucky enough to have bought in so cheap at the start that i never really lost out, i even made a small profit last night.

2025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 25, 2014, 09:03:02 AM

Keep the ideas and information flowing, guys. I need to get some sleep but will come back in the morning and organize everything into another update and discuss how to begin the next steps. Tomorrow we mobilize this thing and two weeks from now the current state of SilkCoin will just feel like a distant bad dream.

Onward and upward.

Thanks man, i trust you can do a great job, I want to help in whatever way i can.
I have some linux experience and work in IT, im happy to test wallets, maintain the website, forums etc.
2029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SC] SilkCoin - Takeover and Rebuilding Discussion/Proposal on: June 25, 2014, 07:59:43 AM
This is the point, guys. Why make a new coin when there are already a million other coins out there? A lot of processing power was thrown into the PoW phases of this coin; there is a huge community around it and, despite being disgruntled currently, we can turn this thing around for them. A lot of people have invested in SilkCoin; I checked into it before considering taking on this project and it has a surprisingly wide distribution. Why should all of these people be stuck holding worthless coins? SilkCoin was voted onto MintPal, added to Cryptsy, and is trading on a number of other exchanges - getting a brand new coin listed isn't easy. A huge stretch of the runway has already been paved - we need to leverage that. We need to show what a resilient community is capable of. If you aren't interested in joining the fight nobody is forcing you to do so; I have no interest in creating a new coin and, honestly, see no reason for a new coin. Again - this isn't a TKO so why continue to treat it like one? That is the beauty of this - we don't need the original dev(s); in fact, we obviously never did. There is no reason why we can't take what we have here and turn it into something great. I hope everybody chooses to be a part of that but I understand the desire to walk away - nobody could blame you for that. However, if you want to be a part of a swift and epic comeback, I suggest you stick around.

+1

2032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / New Silkcoin moderated Thread on: June 25, 2014, 07:02:33 AM
This is a moderated thread for the purpose of discussing Silkcoin Development - Moving Forward following the developer/s bailing-out.

I encourage those Silkcoin holders who would like to save the coin, to contribute positively here.

If you have ideas or suggestions, share them.

If you have skills that would be prepared to contribute, possibly as part of a new steering committee, then please list them here.

If you would be prepared to offer a small amount of SC or BTC, paid via escrow, to have the Silkcoin wallet updated by bholzer. Say so here.

Do a full rebrand and change the ticket to SLK not SC.

SLK sounds pretty awesome, much better than SC..
SC = ScamCoin.. lol

Yes i suggested this too.
Even dropping "coin" would be a good idea.

Dont worry, nothing will happen until we get some "trusted" members to sit down and talk things over, anything that gets done will be have to be a community decision.
2037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Non-Moderated Thread [Updates & Discussion] on: June 25, 2014, 01:12:11 AM
I have asked here with no reply, but i need to know if i can link my NXT account and BCT username to the final stakeholders list?
Secondly, since UF is gone, how do we go about exchanging our NEM stake when the time comes?

I also am trying to find the link to download the open alpha platform.

the alpha wont be open alpha until tomorrow. it was semi open where some people were invited. tomorrow you can download.

do you want to get your nem stake on nxt AE? not sure why you would need to link your nxt account and bitcointalk account username on the final stake holder list?

nem will still be distributed in the same fashion as it would have been with UP. only it will be done by a different person. so no change really Smiley

all is still well. Wink

kod

I thought the stakeholder list was established for transparency reasons, thats all.
Anyway i thought it went open alpha today, i must be wrong, our time zone is different here! lol
I take it that its still the same NXT account that UP was using on the AE?
Im not sure what i need to do to exchange it for my NEM thats all.
2038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 25, 2014, 12:44:05 AM
They don't deserve you man. Shit if you take this thing over I can't rip on it anymore  Angry

Also remember when I proposed my coin idea and you told me you didn't have time?

Your idea was fine; your proposal where I did all of the work and split everything 50/50 with you was the primary issue. Also, it's a lot of work launching a new coin from scratch. My time is quite limited and I choose the additional projects I take on carefully; SilkCoin already has a community, widespread exchange support, and other important elements that otherwise take time to establish. In addition, there are a number of people here who were burned and, if I can help to rectify that, that is yet another reason why I am willing to make time for this. I believe it's for the greater good of cryptocurrency and, really, humanity in general - we can help create a bright light in an otherwise dark, unforgiving sea.

Just keep me in the loop as things progress, guys - I will remain on standby. Hopefully this dev is willing to use a small percentage of his profits here to help make things right with this great community who supported and believed in him through all of this. There is clearly a mess here but I am confident I can help you guys get it cleaned up and back on track.

If we can ensure Silkcoin is stable and utilizing the latest technology, at least we will have a strong, stable base to begin building everything back on top of. Yes there are a few black eyes here but this isn't a TKO - it happens - I've seen much more difficult comebacks than this succeed and you would be amazed what a supportive community can do. Again, I wouldn't be able to commit to being the lead dev for an extended period of time (I have my own coin and community that I need to begin increasing my focus on as-is) but would certainly get everything fixed, up to date, and out of this rut while easing the transition to the new team. Also, I could help with the marketing and PR strategy while qualifying potential new talent interested in joining the team. I have been in the startup world for many years (I am the co-founder of SnapAppointments) and have seen situations similar to this a number of times. I am also very familiar with the latest Bitcoin Core source (I am an active contributor to the project) and recently updated Murraycoin to the 0.9.2 source.

Just one of many options, I'm sure. If a better offer comes along that's fine too - I am willing to assist in any capacity. If we want to continue to build this cryptocurrency movement, we can't leave behind a battlefield full of dead coins. No man coin is left behind!

Why nobody is considering seriously this offer? or am I missing something?

I 'hope' there are negotiations going on behind the scenes.
This looks to be a great offer from a reputable member. It would be a shame to see SC die when there are options like this available.

In the event 'Silkcoin' will not part with the 8 BTC, i wonder if bholzer would still consider doing the upgrade in exchange for payment by the community. Huh

Obviously, my first choice was to obtain the funds from the developers; it is growing increasingly obvious that is not going to happen. Greed is an unfortunate character flaw that we see all too often in this world. I figured there was an outside chance they would step up to the plate to help attempt to make things right; the jury is still out but I'm afraid the writing is on the wall.

You guys discuss things and weigh your options; I will come back within 12 hours to post an outline of my proposal. We will get this cleaned up.

Thanks for your offer.
It would be great if the devs would give up there funds, but i don't see a reason why they should do that, they run away already.
but to make this work we still need more people with some skills/ideas to join a new team to get this on track again.

And i think that it would be fair if the community can vote for new members and what kind of conditions.

Im happy to help out on the new team in some shape or form, i cant code, but im all in on trying to make this right.
We need to discuss what the options are and go from there, flick me a PM if your interested.

Thanks for your offer, are there any specific skills?
Lets keep it transparent for a while, many people around with many ideas.
Are there any coders around?
