So the community is aware, I will be bringing the seed node off line this morning while I compile the version 1.1 daemon on the seed node and do some wallet.dat shuffling. Yes, the source for EGC version 1.1 will be pushed to the github soon. Wallets will be compiled and made available as soon as possible. This version consists of the following changes: - New logo.
- New splash screen.
- New in-wallet news feed. Usually this will be our twitter feed unless urgent messages need to be displayed. We do plan to also have this display market data in the near future. These improvements to the news feed will happen in real time within your new EGC version 1.1 wallet and not require additional wallet upgrades.
- New checkpoints.
- New seed nodes. Addition of 3 seed nodes graciously provided by granite.
This is not a required update, as version 1 wallets will continue to function perfectly. We do encourage the upgrade to version 1.1 as you will benefit from the additional seed nodes and the news feed will keep you more informed. Thank you in advance for your patience while we roll out EverGreenCoin version 1.1 and I will announce when the code is made available on the github soon. while the idea of the solar staker looks good to me, I think that a single solar array powering multiple devices (including PCs) is much more convenient and efficient.
one PC consumes at least 400 W, so you need something like 2x 250w mono-crystalline solar panel, add the solar charger, the converter, and you easily pay at lest $500 There is no need for a full PC for a dedicated staking machine. There are other projects already doing this with a Pi running linux and a web gui for the user. You could add a small battery to a setup like this and the cost for all hardware would still remain very low. http://www.voltaicsystems.com/blog/powering-a-raspberry-pi-from-solar-power/ The example here uses a 9 watt solar panel. This seems like more of a fun hobby to do something like this over a product non -geeks may want to use. When the device only uses 5 volts of power in first place most people will not complain about that or look for alternative power solutions. You are correct, this is not a solar powered PC and will be similar in functionality to the stated device. We are doing everything we can think of to make this attractive to nontechnical people including those less familiar with crypto. This includes loading the device with an intial EGC deposit (for example, 100 EGC) so nontechnical people can start earning 7% by simply adding sunshine. |

The device then runs on the battery it had been charging during the day. Our prototypes consist of three solar panels that not only run the device during day light hours but also charge a battery for night. |

We do have many projects slated in this partnership. The first to be announced is a solar powered EverGreenCoin staking wallet. It is now in the early prototype testing phase with design changes very much the possibility. We plan to sell this only at the cost it takes us to produce and deliver. We envision a final product that will completely be self sustained and only require it to be in range of a wifi connection as we aim to make a product that will be easy enough for use by nontechnical community members. We do plan on delivering the device containing an undetermined amount of EverGreenCoin. This way, it will be ready to earn staking rewards, just add sunshine. Innovative! Is it possible to load/add a second wallet for staking together with the Evergreen wallet? What will the price be for this gadget, in round numers? Thank you. Yes it would be possible for a technical person to add another wallet. Additional CPU usage by another staking wallet will impact power consumption and battery supply during night hours. Also, storage space on the device will have a limit so, large blockchains might need additional storage added. But a technical person could do to their device as they so choose. The public relations aspect of EGC and outreach will help secure the blockchain as it will lead to reaching a critical mass adoption rate.
Yes, agreed Chicago. Fruit that is continually harvested, so long as they are still published. And mass adoption is what all crypto needs. The good thing about news articles is, we should have that base covered. I own and operate the usa franchise of newsbtc as of recently, I work on other projects for the ceo, and I help other franchise owners all over the globe. Also, I know writers at other major outlets. Of course, I will be ethical about any and all articles as my integrity is far to valuable to not be. The ceo is very aware of EGC and my intentions. That said, who better to write an informed EGC article than myself? When the time comes and it is published, I am certain you will all see that I maintained professional unbiased journalistic ethics as I intend to, and will do, nothing less. The team is hard at work, day and night, trying to give you more things to look forward to with EGC. What we would like to know is what's the most important thing for you personally, moving forward. Follow this link to another thread on bitcointalk and answer the poll honestly.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1325566.0 hi all ... i managed to get compiled a static version ( on centos 7 x64 ) of the deamon - and have tested the stability of not only the daemon but also the servers systems they are sitting on ... and i am happy to see that they are not only stable - but functioning very well indeed ... as such - i have setup three permanent egc nodes on the granite system and have implemented them as dns seednodes also ... as mentioned earlier - i support this coin - and support the dev and team in the work that they are doing ... so here is my contribution ... i have also forked the code - and changed it to reflect the permanents nodes that have been setup - but have not made a pull request for it be incorporated without the devs consent and / or changes ... the egc seed nodes are as follows - so that ANYONE who has a sync issue can just add the node addresses to the .conf to sync - OR - if the code is accepted and hardcoded into the wallets / daemon - will sync automatically and without issue ... and its fast btw  ... test it and see for yourself ... addnode=egc-seed1.granitecoin.com
